ITunes crashing after latest version upgrade

I have a 64-bit Windows 7 laptop. I installed the latest version of iTunes (10.5.1) for 64-bit machines and now I get blue screen every time I open iTunes. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, any solutions? Thanks!

There are many factors causing BSOD in WIndows.
First thing to check is the Windows system file corruption.(SFC /SCANNOW as indicated in the first reply).
Next is check your harddrive for file allocation errors and/or bad sectors and memory errors.
To check for hard disk errors
Open Computer by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Computer.
Right-click the drive that you want to check, and then click Properties.
Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error-checking, click Check now. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select Automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will report problems but not fix them.
To perform a thorough check, select Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This scan attempts to find and repair physical errors on the drive itself, and it can take much longer to complete.
To check for both file errors and physical errors, select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
Click Start.
To check for memory problems
Open Memory Diagnostics Tool by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Memory, and then click Diagnose your computer's memory problems. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Choose when to run the tool. If you choose to restart your computer and run the tool immediately, make sure that you save your work and close all of your running programs. The Memory Diagnostics Tool will run automatically when you restart Windows.

    I recently updated iTunes on 2 windows 7 PC's and the app keeps crashing after a few seconds after starting the program.

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
    If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going toEdit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
    You could also try working through

    Alternatively see the second entry in the Further Information section for tips on rolling back to a previous version of iTunes.

    I've never had problems with iTunes before.
    However, after the most recent update, iTunes will open, but after a few seconds crash.
    I've tried deleting it off the computer entirely then re-installing it and restarting the computer, but nothing seems to help.
    What can I do?

    Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

    I tried to upgrade itunes to the latest version today when the updater crashed. Now I cannot open itunes. I get the error message that my version of itunes is "corrupted" and it will not open. I tried to download the latest version to reinstall it from the Apple web site but it will not download. Istead I get the error message that the download cannot be completed. I am running MAC os 10.6.8 on an imac. I will look for help on this forum but would appreciate any help you may offer.

    I spent an hour with Apple support on the phone but no go. Will not start from MAC OS X disk with C key held down, power off/rebooting no help. I see blank gray screen with whirling icon then screen goes dead.
    Question - Is my iMac dead? Can Apple salvage my data? Time Capsule never worked so was never able to back up data automatically - only manually and slowly at that.
    I have an appointment with the local Apple store on THursday but would like to save the time and order a new computer if you all think my iMac is beyond help. Also, does anyone know if Adobe Creative Suite 3 will work with MAC OS X Mountain Lion or will I have to upgrade/buy it all over again. ( This is one of the reasons I never upgraded to Mountain Lion.)

When I try to do it from the view menu, it shows up as something I can't click on. The new library format is driving me crazy and I just want to get back to the old library view.

    We need to sort out some facts here first:
    •  You cannot be running Mt. Lion on your iMac G5.  What Mac is it?  What is the Model Identifier listed in About This Mac; More Info; Hardware Overview
    •  What is the model of your Epson Scanner?
    •  Have you attempted to scan using Image Capture, located in your Applications folder?
    •  Your Palm Pilot software will only run in Snow Leopard; so depending upon which Mac you have, you will either have to:
    1)  partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it to "dual-boot" when you want to access you Palm software, or
    2)  install Snow Leopard Server (now available from Apple for $20 telephone orders USA & Canda only) into Parallels 8 to run your Palm software in Mt. Lion:

    - Try moving the backup file to a safe location so iTunes has to create an entire new one.. It is locate here and you may have to have show hiddn files turned on.

    I am the original owner of an ipad and it woke it yesterday requiring me to activate it using the original apple id used to set it up.
    It will not accept my apple id and password.
    It does not show up in my icloud under devices.

    I am out of ideas and have not found anything for original owners (as opposed to someone who bought it from someone else).  I did see some posts from last year where a few people had the same problem and took it back to apple and got a refurbished unit given to them since customer service and engineering couldn't fix it.  I was wondering if this was related to the recent ios8 upgrade. Anybody else have ideas or same problem before I hike down to the apple store for mercy?

    Going all the way back to Firefox 3.0.5 is shear foolishness, it is 14 security versions behind the last 3.0.19 release. And that version is missing at least a dozen security updates that were applied to the 3.5 and 3.6 versions after support for 3.0.x ended.
    If you are not happy with Firefox 4, you should have installed Firefox 3.6.17. That is very similar to the 3.0 and has all the security fixes that have been released since support for Firefox 3.0.x ended last year.

    After starting iTunes, everything was fine at first, but a few seconds later, Windows claimed: "ITunes is not working anymore, looking for a solution.
    and shortly after that "... the programm will be closed"
