ITunes crashing as soon as I connect iPod

Hi
Just bought an iPod nano (7th) which is functioning fine.
Have updated my iTunes to the 12.0.1 version, also working fine and has transferred all my music and playlist information from the previous version.
However, as soon as I plug my iPod in, iTunes crashes just after it has recognised the device. It is calling it an APPCRASH.
Any thoughts?

Hi hassangovani,
If you have issues with iTunes when connecting your iPhone, I would suggest troubleshooting using the steps in this article -

  • ITunes crashes as soon as I connect iPhone, Ipad or Ipod Touch

    Hello,
I have submitted this question before, but despite all kind of attempt, my iTunes (latest version) crashes as soon as I connect with a cable
    - iPhone 5 (iOS 8.0)
    - iPad
    - iPod touch
It does NOT crush when I connect my Ipod Classic.
What I mean with crush: as soon as I insert the cable in the USB port, the name of the divice appears, it then looks as if is synching but after a couple of second the "spinning wheel" blocks and then there is no other way than forcing quit.
It is not the cable, because all devices can be used with iPhoto with the same cable.
    I have reinstalled OS X
    I have rebooted the iPhone
all the devices work normally on my old mac (which doesn't have OS X) and on PC.
Windows Parallel is installed on my macbook pro. Could this be the problem?
It seems that despite all recent updates, there is no solution to this.
    Anybody with the same problem?
Any idea about how to solve it?
    Thanks

    Hello mimward,
It sounds like Windows can see your devices, but iTunes is not seeing them. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article named:

  • ITunes crashes as soon as i connect my iPhone 5s

Hi. I just recently purchased an iPhone 5s and updated it to iOS 7.1.2 as soon as I configured everything out of the box. This is my first ever Apple device. I downloaded iTunes so that I could sync all my data to my iPhone. iTunes works perfectly until I connect my iPhone. I've tried every possible solution I could find on the internet. I authorised iTunes, uninstalled and reinstalled it, deleted the folders it told me to, removed possible conflicting programs such as Samsung Kies and Blackberry Link, etc. The only thing I haven't tried is factory resetting the phone because I want to backup my iPhone, but then again iTunes crashes!!!!
I don't know what to do anymore. Any possible help or solution will be really really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Hassan

  • PC Suite crashes as soon as I connect phone

    Hi
I have just purchased my Nokia 6303 and installed PC Suite.
When it launches, it always says that Music initialisation failed and Operation failed (unable to read tracks) and then it crashes if the phone is connected. If it is not connected, then it will always crash as soon as I connect the phone.
My OS is WinXP 64bit, SP2
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Are you using OVI or PCSuite? There are still many issues with these apps in W7 (64bit). I suggest you install PCSuite (not OVI) in XP compatible mode as admin. Do not use any USB hubs.

    hi cengl!
let's try heading to the itunes and ipod software download pages and downloading the update from there:
    iTunes 6.0.1.3 Installer
    Ipod Updater Installer
i notice that you're running McAfee. if you run into an odd problem where you can't see the download controls (there's a blank blue box on the itunes download page, for example), try:
iTunes download button isn't visible on the Download webpage

  • Help! my ipod is making itunes crash as soon as i plug it in

i'm running osx 10.5 and itunes 9.0.2, my ipod is a 4th gen nano. everything has been working fine until yesterday when i was importing some music and itunes just crashed out of the blue. i had my ipod plugged in at the time but every time i tried to reopen itunes it gives me the spinning beachball of death and crashes, then i get that "application has unexpectedly quit" message. so i unplugged my ipod and restarted my g4. now itunes will open and work fine but as soon as i plug in my ipod the beachball pops up and itunes crashes. the ipod is however showing up on the desktop. so far i have uninstalled completely and reinstalled itunes, and repaired my permissions with both DU and drive genius, but itunes still crashes when my ipod is plugged in. please if anyone has suggestions i would really appreciate some help, this is very confusing. thanks.

Delete all the plist files and also try removing and reinstalling itunes.... if that doesn't work, call 1800MYAPPLE for free support.

  • Itunes crashes when any device is connected

Been having this problem for weeks now and just can't seem to find any solution.
Basically I upgraded to the newest version of itunes (the one before the most recent)and ever since then If I connect any device to my itunes, be it my iPhone 3G,iPhone 4 or my 5th Gen iPod, itunes crashes immediatly and I get the windows error message "Itunes has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
Now it's not a problem with any of my devices, because i've tried with friends ipods and it does the same thing. I've literally tried everyone, uninstalled and reinstalled, set itunes to not automatically sync devices, deauthorised and authorised my account, tried older version of itunes and done a system restore of my whole laptop.
It's driving me crazy, havent been able to sync anything for weeks now and it's majorly ******* me off! So can anyone help?

Right sometimes when the error message comes up, windows gives me these details.
Apparently the error stems from these 3 files
Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Temp\WERA449.tmp.version.txt
    C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Temp\WERB05B.tmp.appcompat.txt
    C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Temp\WERD96F.tmp.mdmp
Does that shed any light on the problem?

  • ITunes crashes when I plug in my iPod mini to my Mac

In the last week or so I have not been able to update my iPod mini, as plugging it in to my Mac makes iTunes crashes. My Mac still recognises the iPod, as it shows up on the desktop. I have updated iTunes to 6.0.5 but this hasn't helped. I am having problems with some other software since I updated my operating system to 10.4.7 -don't know if this is related.
    Any thoughts?

My guess is that those are unrelated problems, and about ur itunes crashing try pluggin in ipod withought itunes open then wait a few minutes before opening itunes this has worked for me in the past.
    Good Luck

  • ITunes crashes when I plug in 80GB iPod classic

My 80GB iPod classic had been working flawlessly with my MacBook Pro until yesterday afternoon, when I plugged it in to sync and iTunes crashed with this error:
    Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000014
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, deleting my iTunes library file, and using another computer to restore my iPod to the factory settings all with the same result. I can sync my Nano to this computer still, and I can sync my Classic to other computers. This particular computer/iPod combo has gone wonky on me. I've wracked my brain trying to come up with any system changes prior to the sudden failure and I can't think of any.
This is a work machine and I have FileVault turned on per company policy. I can't take the machine to a Genius Bar since it's not mine, and while IT looks the other way on the matter of personal music on the work machine, I can't ask them for support since it's not a business necessity. Any ideas on how to solve? Am I out of luck on getting a replacement iPod since it syncs with other machines?

    RevDoddy,
If iTunes is crashing, why don't you send a crash log to those lazy Apple engineers.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log" If there's already a file there, it most likely has multiple crash logs in it (new crash logs are just appended to the end of the file). So, delete this file. This will make sure you're not sending extra information I don't need. These crash logs are text files, so you can open them in notepad or whatever to see what information you're sending.
So, get the machine setup to collect crash logs, do the thing that makes iTunes crash. You need to send that file to our buddy Roy. Make sure that you include:
    (1) the drwtsn32.log file.
    (2) the link to this thread.
    (3) a one line description of your problem, i.e. "iTunes crashes on launch".
    (4) the username that you're using here in the discussion boards.
    (5) the link to this thread.
    (6) tell him Toonz sent ya.
Roy is getting a little swamped with messages and needs to make sure he gets all the information. And if he doesn't get all this information, the message is just going to get dropped on the floor.

  • Itunes crashes as soon as I attempt to purchase a song.

    Hello,
Eversince the day before yesterday, every time I go into iTunes, enter the store, search a song, try to play the demo of the song or purchase it, iTunes crashes suddenly. It doesn't show one of those error numbers, just that a problem has caused this application to crash message. Any idea what's happening?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Please HELP, "iTunes has stopped working" error after connecting iPod video

People please help me out!  I have a Razer Blade gaming laptop with Windows 8 64bit.
I have an iPhone 5, iPad 2 and an iPod video (80GB).  I had some weeks from not connecting the iPod to my computer, but this morning that I did so I can upload some new music to it, iTunes just crash, I get the "iTunes has stopped working" error message when I connect the iPod video.  I do not have this problem with either the iPhone 5 or the iPad 2, when I connect these, iTunes works fine, once I connect the iPod, then all goes down
Procedures that I already tried and that were unsuccessful to solve the problem:
    Uninstall Quicktime
    Uninstall iTunes and reinstall
    Reset the iPod (several times)
    Delete TEMP files on computer
    Restart the computer (several times)
Use a different cable and a different USB port
The iPod is working fine, if I plug it to my car stereo or if I use it with headphones it works great, no problems nor errors.  My computer also identify the iPod as a hard disk, no error messages from Windows, it is just the freakin' iTunes that freezes everytime that I plug the iPod
PLEASE HELP ME OUT, I've searched forums on this particular issue but with no luck.
    Thanks very much!

It is only when I attempt to add a song to my iPod once plugged in that I receive the error "Itunes has stopped working" and forces me to exit the program, without the song being successfully transferred.
Do you have the "Convert to 128 kbps AAC" preference enabled for syncing to the iPod, laur?
If so, it's quite plausible that you've got the iTunes 10.1.0.54 bug and we need to get you updated to 10.0.1.56 as per the following document:
[iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3591]

  • Itunes Crashed when uploading library To Classic IPOD

Not too sure if anyone else is having this problem. But i have updated the itunes and ipod software, and have reset it and also restored it numerous times.
But every time i connect my ipod and either manually sync my music or whether it does it automatically it will get to around 150 songs and then will crash and will sometimes get different errors.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this or even better some possible fixes?
    Cheers

    Jeremy,
Thank You for the reply but my issue was not in the attachment you sent.
iTunes freezes when I attempt to add music to my ipod classic especially playlists I have made.
iTunes recognizes my ipod but when I "add" that when the issue starts.
I have my large library on a pc using windows 7. I have no issue adding music to my device on
my macbook pro but like I said, my 60,000 song plus library is on my pc.
Any additional help would be greatly appreciated.
    Happy Holidays,

  • PC crashes as soon as I connect my iPhone 4.

I've recently updated all my Apple applications, and iPhone 4 to iOS 7.  Ever since then, my computer has been acting really strange.  I thought my computer was infected, so I did a few virus scans.  Fortunately, nothing came up in the virus scan results.  But the fact that this is not a virus issue means that this must either be an hardware issue or an software issue.
After messing around with my PC, I found out that my computer only crashes after I connect my iPhone 4.  And again, I want to stress that this only started happening after I updated my device to iOS7.  I had no problems whatsoever with other Apple applications (e.g.: iTunes, iCloud, etc) before the update, and I also had no problem syncing the iPhone to my PC in the past as well.  I have tried reinstalling and even removing the registries of the Apple applications and drivers, but that still didn't work.  So... yea, I really don't know what is going on.  I just know that I had to force shutdown my computer so many times while trying to find the source of the problem because my iPhone would freeze it everytime it was connected.  This is annoying me to no end.  Please help me.

You have a point, but if that were the case, then other usb devices won't work, am I correct?  Well, my other usb devices work fine from what I can see.
And I would like also like to know the solution to my problem, not just the source of my problem.  I don't know how to fix 'corrupted' usb drivers.  That is if it were the actual problem here.
