ITunes crashing computer completely

I have just today installed the most recent iTunes on my new Acer Windows 7 laptop. It ws working fine and then I closed it. A little later I clicked to open it and it crashed my computer. So I tried to uninstall it and guess what? My laptop crashed AGAIN. When I don't touch anything iTunes related it works normally but slower. Before iTunes my laptop was running quickly and efficiently, the programs didn't do the 'Not Responding' thing but it is now. What should I do?

Hi. I would just like to ask if you found a solution for your problem. It looks like I have the same problem as you. Everytime iTunes opens, it crashes my computer. The only thing I could do after my laptop crashes is to hold the power button until my computer completely shuts off. I also tried uninstalling iTunes but it also causes my computer to crash!

  • ITunes crashed computer

    Hey guys
About a week ago I was downloading 7.5, I restarted my computer (windows xp) but the computer kept restarting over and over again without me doing anything. Since, the computer's been fixed and all my files as far as I know are safe. However, what I wanted advice on was, when i click itune's desktop icon the contract agreement pops up. I don't want to accept it because I'm afraid of downloading the same 7.5 version that had crashed my computer and when i decline the window closes. Does anyone know a way i can return to the previous version, or whether or not apple is planning on an update to fix the bugs in 7.5? Thanks

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications. It's your responsibility to make backup copies (as iTunes itself advises) in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. If your old computer's hard drive was erased so that you can't get the tracks from it and you don't have a backup of your purchased items, and don't have them on an iPod, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your tracks.
If you have your tracks on an iPod or have them backed up, post back and someone here can help you get them restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". Then you'll see a button that says "Email Us") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.
    Regards.

  • ITunes + Crashed Computer = No More Songs

Hi, I downloaded over 200 songs to one computer, which is now crashed. We got a new one, but when I signed into iTunes, none of my songs were there! I went to our local AT&T Store (My iPod is an iPhone) and they told me about something called an iTunes ReGrant. Does anyone know what this is, or how I can access it? Anything concerning this would be helpful. Please and thank you!!!

  • ITunes crashing computer repeatedly

I am having crashing problems when using iTunes for windows on my dell dimension 4500. If I switch between applications (iTunes to something else or vice versa) my machine will reboot. Also sometimes when I insert a cd to rip to my library the computer will reboot. Any time that these reboots happen when it comes back up it says the system has recovered from a serious error. The system error log states - The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x100000d1 (0xf0f1d7ef, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0xf39aa428)

The saga continues...the dialogue I got from booting the machine and using OS X startup disk, in the utilties/repair disk work:
    Repairing Disk
    Checking HFS Plus volume
    Checking Extents Overflow
    Checking Catalog file
Reserved fields in the catalog have incorrect data
Reserved fields in the catalog have incorrect data
    Checking multi linked files
    Checking Catalog hierarchy
    Checking Extended attributes files
    Invalid leaf record count
(it should be 2 instead of 196)
    Checking volume bitmaps
    Checking volume information
    Repairing volume
The vol HD was repaired successfully
    2 volumes checked
    1 HFS vulme repaired
1 volume could not be repaired
What does this mean? Any ideas? Thanks again for all your help!!

  • IMovie 6/ HD6 crashing computer completely

    Hi
Just looking for any suggestions around iM causing the cascading grey screen of death (restart by holding down off button required). iM has performed fine previously and I'm suddenly getting this problem. Tried deleting prefs, repairing permissions etc. Starting to lose faith in Apple when these things happen. Have Final Cut, so I'm beginning to try that instead - it's just a bit more mucking around than I have time for when all you want it a quickly edited video...
    Any suggestions most welcome...
    Cheers

    Hi
Free space of the internal (start-up) hard disk ? How much ?
(other external ones - of no interest to iMovie or Mac OS)
    Else read.
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Garageband-fix. Start it and Close it. Re-try
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08)
    • Program miss-match: iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
    • Program miss-match: iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match: iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Screen must be set to Million-colors
    iMovie pref file resides:
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named: com.apple.iMovie.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
From LKN 1935: (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.
    Yours Bengt W

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

  • Lost all my music in itunes after computer crash

Lost all my music in itunes when computer crashed.  itune store doesn't show all my purchases.  How do I get all my music back?

Browse your iTunes folder.  Do you have files in folder in your media folder?  In other words, did you really lose the media or did iTunes just lose track of it?
Of course you have a backup you make of your computer before doing any major updates, right?

  • HT204406 System and iTunes crash everytime since trying to link iTunes  Match - purchased a new computer and still then same issue.  Need support to fix, or cancel the iTunes match - have not been able to use it yet.

System and iTunes crash everytime I try to enable iTunes Match
Libary has 20,000 music files and about 50 movies, of which 2/3 are digital copies
Any ideas, as I would like to use iTunes Match
    Thanks

In iTunes, do Store->View my AppleID
    Click "Deuthorize ALL"
Then, on any computers you still have, do Store->Authorize this computer.  If there are less than 5, you will have no problem.
You can only do "deauthorize all" once a year, so in the future, if you ever throw a computer away, remember do to "Store->Deauthorize this computer" first.

  • Itunes crashed too Blue Screen when I connect Ipod to computer

My Itunes crashes to the Windows blue screen of death whenever I connect my Ipod to Itunes. I have ran tried both the solutions that are posted in the support section of this website, but none of those solutions seemed to work. I have an Ipod Classic and am running the latest version of Itunes (8.02 I think). The error code that comes up in the blue screen is:
    STOP 0x0000007F (0x00000008, 0x80154000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is quite frustrating.

Did you follow through all the links on the page?
You need to give information about exactly what you have tried in order for someone to help you.
I do not have an iPhone and know nothing about them so I can't give detailed help.
In general you tend to get BSOD with low level problems such as drivers or hardware issues. Are you up to date with the downloads from computer manufacturer's download site for your model of computer? If you follow the links there are various suggestions about the sorts of things that could cause trouble.
If you are getting a blue screen stop, it would help if you could post the exact error message. It should be some sort of numbers and text -
    0x(zeros/letters/numbers) (CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
    For example:
    Stop 0x05 (INVALIDPROCESS_ATTACHATTEMPT)
Also is a file name mentioned in the error message? If so give the exact file name. This is very important as it may identify the driver causing the trouble.
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), you can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Settings" button in the "Startup and Recovery" section
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • My old computer (a Sony) with my iTunes crashed. I have a new MAC and want to make sure I can keep all of my music (mostly from old CD's that have been lost). I bought iTunes match hoping that would work but it isn't using the data on my phone. HELP!

My old computer (a Sony) with my iTunes crashed. I have a new MAC and want to make sure I can keep all of my music (mostly from old CD's that have been lost). I bought iTunes match hoping that would work but it isn't using the data on my phone. HELP!

Since you have purchased a new Mac (which, BTW, is not typed in all capitals) why not buy a Time Capsule <http://www.apple.com/airport-time-capsule/> which is designed specifically to work with OS X and Time Machine?
You don't say what part of your Sony "crashed." If it was not the HDD it is possible to take the computer apart, put the HDD in an external case, then recover the data off of it (including the music) simply drag-n-drop. If it was the HDD that "crashed" that makes it more difficult.
If you are able to recover the music from the Sony you can then add it to the iTunes library on the Mac and iTunes Match will then scan, match and upload the tracks to be mirrored in the cloud.

  • My computer with my itunes crashed and my ipod no longer works. I purchased a new ipod and would like to download my music but I am unable to

My computer with my itunes crashed. I can no longer use that computer. My ipod no longer works so I bought a new one. I would like to download my itunes that I have but I don't know how to get the information onto my new ipod.

Your itunes purchases for music, etc are tied to your itunes account - any computer (up to 5) can be authorized with your iTunes account information. Enter your iTunes account name and password in the iPod - you don't say which version of iOS is on your iPod so more details can't be given until knowing that.
