Itunes crashing while itunes match is at step 3 (windows 7)

Hello
I've started using itunes match a few days ago and it works a bit, I have most of my library available on the cloud but I still have some of them which I can't manage to put on the cloud. I've noticed this is a frequent problem with itunes match but each time itunes match reach step 3 itunes crash, there is a message saying something like "itunes stopped working, windows is trying to find a solution to the problem". I've seen answers in other thread but I don't know how to find the song that makes it crash. I have more or less 15000 songs on my itunes and there are about 1000 songs left to add to itunes match and deleting all these songs would take an pretty important amount of time. Some of this songs are definitely on the itunes store but i have a lot of mixtapes that are not on that store and i was wondering if these were the cause of the problem.
Thanks a lot for answering.

Hi,
The mix tapes could be causing the problem. Try deleting them from library and selecting keep file. If process completes for rest of the tracks, try readding a few at a time.

I've bought a movie but iTunes crashes while trying to download it. Do you experience the same today?

Can you not sync your iPod with iTunes? That should get the movie onto your computer. Now sync your iPad and transfer the movie?

    Hello, Folks,
iTunes crashes while trying to sync during the optimizing phase if there are any videos in the folder.
If I remove the videos from the folder, the sync succeeds.
The videos were imported from the iPhone using the Windows 7 import dialog.

  • Itunes crashes while adding artwork and other information

Itunes crashes while adding artwork and other information to video and music files.  Killing the process is the only cure and crashes after inputing information for 5-10 video files.  I have the latest version of itunes, and this did not happen to pre 10.x versions of itunes.  Running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.  64-bit iTunes.

    @tposchi
I do not think it has anything to do with router at all. I have 25mbps down and 6mbps up where I live. This is not shabby at all and I have latest TimeCapsule which is acts as my router at home. Yet the latest iTuns blows up playing streams. So I use this player instead: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html. Not as pretty, but at least I can play radio stream 24 hours a day with it and have no problems. iTunes 10.7 does not last one hour I too wish Apple fix it.

  • Can I get help with podcasts?  When I try to open the podcasts, itunes crashes, says "itunes has detected a problem and must close", or the spanish equivalent since my xp is in spanish.  everything else works fine, it even downloads podcasts and syncs.

The only other thing I can suggest is to use the Repair option for iTunes.
Download the iTunes programme (do not uninstall your current iTunes) and then "install" the new copy. At some stage you should see an option to "install" or "Repair". Take the Repair option.
Once you've done that, if you still have a problem, I don't know what else to suggest, except to search through the discussions to see if anyone else has had the problem and managed to fix it.

  • Itunes crashes when iTunes Match runs its Step 3 (not before) - any ideas why and how to fix it?

Every time iTunes runs the iTunes Match, when iTunes MAtch gets to Step 3 - iTunes stops working - ie crashes. Any idea why and how to fix it? The songs are still uploaded to iCloud etc... but it crashe iTunes every single time

I cannot explain the failure, but I can tell you that I have a string of approx. 24 emails with Apple and a combined 10hrs of talk time with Apple customer reps that tried helping me precisely for the issue that iTunes Match would crash at Step 3 without fail. Apple even logged my Console and I was talking to an engineer that literally wrote part of the code for iTunes Match (that was the fourth and last level of customer care I was escalated to). The poor man almost quite his job, and I just about demanded a refund for my $25, since iTunes Match simply wasn't working.
Then I studied at a friend's place, and I noticed that all of a sudden, while iTunes was running in the background, half my library was already uploaded and things were progressing smoothly. It turns out that it had something to do with my modem specifically, as I had already hooked up my computer straight to the modem, taking the router (TimeCapsule) out of the equation. Nothing worked. Firewalls were turned off, no AntiVirus existed, and Apple engineers tried everything possible, incl. remote access on my computer, to get this to work. Nothing worked as long as I was connected to a Motorola Surboard.
At every other network, wether at Starbucks, my university, or at friends places, however, iTunes Match worked flawlessly.
After some research online, it turnes out that a handful of people with Motorola Surrboard Xtreme cable modems had similar issues. Eversince, I simply use my neighbors wifi should I need to upload songs, and I have no issues. Oddly enough, matching (not uploading) works just fine with my Motorola.
Don't ask me how or why, I am interested in computers and work with them a lot, but I am no engineer. I can tell you that simple scientific method pinpointed to the modem, and I haven't had issues since then.

  • ITunes crashing saying "iTunes has stopped working while running iTunes Match

My iTunes is crashing while running iTunes Match saying iTunes has stopped working - I think it may be because at the 25000 song limit but I get no message or warning - just crashes. Would like to keep songs in library while deleted from cloud - can you do that?

    Hi,
Yes but you need to create a new blank library.
Hold down option key whilst opening iTunes. Chose new library from pop up. This library will be blank. Turn on match and select add this computer. Once process has been completed you will see all the tracks that you have in the cloud.
Make sure that you add iCloud status to song view as this tells you what has been matched, uploaded or purchased. You can then delete matched and uploaded tracks. You will get message that you are deleting tracks from the cloud. Don't worry about purchased tracks as they don't count towards limit.
Close iTunes and reopen the original library - again hold option key and  select choose library. With iCloud status column added to song view, you will now see that tracks that you deleted from the cloud will have an iCloud status of "Removed".  They are still on your hard drive and will be ignored during the match scan.

  • ITunes crashed while downloading purchased music

I bought some songs from iTunes and it crashed while I was downloading. It seems that the crash happened while I was downloading the first song so I was not able to download any of the songs I bought.
Is there a way to re-download these songs? Or is there any way I can prevent this from happening again? Other than get a mac of course cuz I can't afford it right now :P

Got it to start downloading! Thanks!

  • TS1717 iTunes crashed while removing duplicates

I sorted my library by song title, and manually selected about 100 duplicate songs. I then right clicked and clicked "Delete." Then I chose to remove the songs from the library and disk. iTunes crashed. When restarted the library indicates missing files for those songs I wanted totally deleted. I checked some and the files are indeed deleted.
Any advice on how to successfully remove these duplicates and how to fix my library would be appreciated.

    Lost & Found
Create a playlist called Found, select everything in Music and drag it into the Found playlist (it may take some time to count the tracks that are to be dropped). Create a smart playlist called Lost matching All the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Found. Your lost tracks will be in this playlist. You should be able to select all the tracks in this playlist with CTRL-A and then remove them from iTunes with CTRL-SHIFT-DELETE.
Or use iTunes Folder Watch with its option to check for dead tracks on start up.
As for tidying up duplicates, I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. See this  thread for background.

  • Itunes crashes while updating ipod

can anybody help me with this problem my itunes always crashes while im in the middle of updating my ipod

Try using the iPod software updater to restore settings to factory default and then upload all you music back onto it.
If that doesn't work, try to post some more details about it crashing; Does the iPod lock up your system? Does iTunes lock up? Does iTunes shut down?

  • Itunes crashing while synching apple tv

I have removed and reinstalled apple tv a number of times to no avail. Keep getting an error message after opening itunes while apple tv tries to synch. Tried unplugging my router, unplugging my modem, resetting the apple tv but same thing keeps happening. Any solutions out there?

I believe I may have stumbled over the solution.
I use my Apple TV rarely - every couple of weeks. Most of the time if it powered down in standby mode.
It has performed flawlessly, although took a couple of attempts and many hours to sync the 18000 photo, videos and music. (70gb in all.)
So last night I was using it and tried the Genius function. While doing this it prompted me to create and save a play list. I did this.
Next thing I know, a couple of hours later I am trying to download a new song in Itunes on my PC, and voila - Itunes crashed before I could even get to click on anything. I noticed that Itunes would load, but as soon as it started to "sync" with the Apple TV, it would crash - say 10 seconds into Itunes loading. So Itunes loaded the graphics for the Itunes shop like normal, then it started to sync the Apple TV in the background. This is when Itunes crashed and I go the usual "Itunes has stopped working, do you want to tell Microsoft" error.)
Luckily I read this forum and it prompted me to take a look at the playlist I created. The playlist was fine, so I deleted the playlist - IMPORTANT NOTE: This was the only playlist I had created using the Apple TV, all others were created in Itunes.
Once I deleted this playlist, and fired up Itunes again, Itunes and the Apple TV synced just fine. No crash.
Problem solved? Maybe. Here's hoping. I'd call it a work around until Apple can work out what is causing the problem.
Note I still have videos from my camera in my "Photos" album, and I am having no problems....
Hope this helps.... Now how do I tell Apple so they can see if they can replicate my problem and find a fix?
