I open iTunes and it says it is opening in compatibility mode, when it isn't. This issue is annoying but I can live with it since everything else seems to work.
With that one, first see the following document. (Make sure that all the boxes in the tab are unchecked, not just the compatibility mode box.)
[iTunes for Windows: How to turn off Compatibility Mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1489]
If all those boxes are unchecked, but you're still getting a compatibility mode message, the cause is usually an errant registry setting. For troubleshooting advice on fixing that possibility, see RandomBehavior's post in the following topic:

    To Whom it May Concern:
I have a Dell Studio XPS 13, and I'm running windows 7 home premium on it. I've downloaded thne uninstalled iTunes about 5 different times trying to get it to work.
I open iTunes and it says it is opening in compatibility mode, when it isn't. This issue is annoying but I can live with it since everything else seems to work.
The issue I have problems with, is that iTunes wont play any of the TV shows I have bought from the iTunes store. It plays a gray screen and no volume for all the TV shows I have.
I also recently purchased music from the iTunes store which just gets skips them when i try to play them.
Please help with this frustrating issue, I would like to listen to the music I paid $1.29 a song for, and watch the TV shows I paid an arm and a leg for. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime over and over again with no success. I have also tried installing the new 9.0.3 in x32 and x64 bit. Neither work.

  • Installing Itunes on Windows XP x64

I recently bought an i Pod and I'm trying to install i Tunes on my XP x64 bit computer and I keep getting told that I must have Windows Vista 64 bit. I had i Tunes 32 bit but I was not able to sync my i Pod or burn CD's. Is there anything I can do to be able to sync my i Pod, or am I going to have to return the I pod. Please help my with this and understanding the point behind not letting the XP users use this i Pods like Vista x64 users.

I don't get the point either. Makes absolutely no sense (I'm in a similar boat, I just have an iPhone, not an iPod).
The best thing you can do is follow this:
    http://yukichigai.googlepages.com/iphonex64
It worked for me up until recently, when I had to upgrade to iTunes 8.2 because of iPhone 3.0
Then I found this, which is basically just an extension of the above link:
    http://pctech.invisibill.net/?page_id=36
But, I can't get my iPhone to sync (Apple Mobile Device Support crashes everytime I plug it in when iTunes is running)

  • IPhone 3gs will no longer sync to iTunes on Windows 7 x64

My iPhone 3gs worked fine up until the last 2 updates. Ever since then, the iphone is not even recognized by iTunes. When I go under "devices" in the advanced settings I can see the backup for my phone. Why can't it recognize a phone that it's already recognized? I installed the latest 10.4 and still it's not recognized. I know the computer sees it as it's listed as "started" and "automatic" under services in the admin tools. I've pretty much tried every work around I can think of or seen online and nothing has worked at all. Really have no idea what to do next.
If anyone has any idea how to resolve this issue, I would greatly appreciate it! My setup is below:
    Windows 7 pro x64
    iTunes 10.4
    iphone 3gs
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Ok! So I just came across this randomly in another thread from user Kempas (thanks a lot!). It totally fixed the problem so I thought I'd repost it!

Ok, I'm assuming everyone who is having trouble with Windows 7 (64-bit? mine is) has tried the following solution I found over at en.kioskea.net posted by a guy called Steve78545 (hey, you got to give a dude his due).
It's maybe because Windows 7 uses a MTP driver instead of the USBAAPL by default, and what you need is an 'Apple Mobile Device USB Driver' which you might not have in 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' (check it and see). If you haven't got it, as good ol' Steve78545 suggested:
Update the driver by expanding 'Portable Devices' from the list, right click Apple iPhone/iPhone and select 'Update Driver Software'. Then select 'Browse My computer...'
Copy the following path and paste it in - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers - then hit 'Next'.
Let the thing do it's...thing an it should work. At least it did for me, so I hope it helps a few people out!

  • 10.5.2 iTunes on Windows 7 x64 bit laptop - Quick Time will play videos but not iTunes

I'm hoping you can help, I've looked for a solution to this for a while now.
I store my itunes library on an external hard drive. I completed a clean install of x64 bit Windows 7 on my laptop - all went perfectly. Downloaded and installed the 64 bit version of 10.5.2 iTunes and located my library...the music plays fine but no videos. I opened iTunes in safe mode and it said that I needed the up to date version of Quick Time. Downloaded and installed that...no problems. Now my vidoes will play in the Quick Player but still not in iTunes! They apprear in the "Now Playing" pane but the timer doesn't move - even after pressing pause and play. Can anyone help me please? Do I need to open iTunes in 32 bit mode? If so, how do I do that in Windows 7? i can only find solutions for Mac's....
    Thanks in advance

I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks

No, that might put all your music in a different folder. Making a new library was just a test, to see if it was a problem with the itunes database file.
That new test library probably got named iTunes1...you can just delete that after you close itunes.
You can recreate your library using these steps. It should get back everything except Date Added.

  • Problems with Itunes and Windows 7 x64

When I upgraded to Windows 7, Itunes no longer recognized my computer as one of the authorized ones from someone else's Itunes. The worst part is when I authorized my computer for the other person's Itunes last time, I was the 5th person to do so. Now I'm stuck because I can't just reauthorize my computer because it says it reached its max number, even though I'm not authorizing a new computer. Can someone give me an idea of what to do?

Is that ASUS rather than ISUS?
If so, I think I've found info on the motherboard ... if so it doesn't have the P55 or P55M chipsets that can be cranky on Windows 7 systems with iPod/iPda/iPhone connections.
Still, we'd better make sure your BIOS and chipset drivers for the board are up to date. Head to the following page at ASUSTek and use the Navigation Wizard to autodetect your motherboard version. Check to see if there are any BIOS updates, chipset driver updates or other driver updates available for it (say, integrated audio, display adaptors, raid controllers, etc):
    http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
If you're behind on anything, and you update, does that improve your syncing performance?

  • Issue playing videos in iTunes with Windows 7 x64

    Hi, hoping someone can help.
I  am running Windows 7 64 bit, and have installed the latest version of iTunes. I have around 150 HD movies stored on my PC, which were previously from an iMac I owned. Whenever I play one of these, the video keeps stuttering and dropping frames then freezing etc. Now, the issue is not with the files, as they play in WMP and VLC perfectly fine. It happens in exactly the same spot in the videos everytime they are played. My CPU reaches 100% then drops to 0% as the freezing is happening. It appears as though my CPU cannot handle the files, yet they play fine in another player.
I was wandering if anyone else is having this problem, it's incredibly frustrating because I love iTunes as a media manager.
    Thanks.

Try reset winsock and see it will fix the issue.
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Can't Burn CD's with iTunes in Windows Vista x64

Last night I attempted to create an MP3 CD as well as an Audio CD but every time I tried to iTunes popped up a messaging saying that I didn't have a disc or burning software to complete that action. I know there was a disc in there, and iTunes even recognized a blank disc when it was inserted. Is there a problem with burning cds with iTunes in the 64 bit version of Vista??

  • Can't install iTunes in windows vista x64 (error 0x80070002)

I have been encountering some trouble when trying to install iTunes in my Windows Vista 64-bit PC. When I attempt to install it, it gaves me a HRESULT: 0x80070002 error. I have been looking on the internet for a solution to this and have already tried everything. I also have the same error code when trying to make Windows updates.
I was wondering if there is a solution to this problem or do I have to reinstall my OS to get it right.

I think it would be a good idea to scan for malware as malware often interferes with Windows Update.
Download Malware bytes and run a full scan, there is a free version:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
In services, check the Window Update service. It should show as "started" and start up type automatic.
The other thing is to run the system file checker:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
This will attempt to fix problems and if it will not run, that is another clue to the problem.

  • Can not install the latest itunes on Windows 7 x64

I have recently purchased an Ipad and need to download itunes onto my computer.  Its a windows 7 64 bit operating system that was already installed upon the purchase of the computer.
I have downloaded the most recent itunes program from their site and made sure I had the correct file for the 64 bit computer.  When I click to run the installation program I get the pop up window that asks if I "want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer" I click yes and then nothing happens.  I don't get an error code so I can't give you that it just doesn't do anything.
I have tried all the troubleshooting methods suggested by itunes here - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926 and even looked to see if I could find a similar situation on the help boards.  So far nothing has worked.  Can anyone help me?

UPDATE: Okay after repeating the troubleshooting steps for what seems to be the 5th time and re-downloading itunes for what seems to be the 6th time I have now managed to install itunes *does happy dance*
Thank you for your support advice and patience.

  • How to play FLAC and Other Lossless Formats on iTunes for Windows Vista x64

    Is it possible?
    If so, how?

iTunes cannot play FLAC or any other lossless format other than Apple Lossless or WAV. If your tracks are in FLAC or another format, you'll have to convert them with another utility to a format iTunes can support: AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, or Apple Lossless.

  • Itunes for Windows 7 64 bit does not recognise the iPhone 3G

I have just installed windows 7 x64bit on my pc. I have downloaded the itunes for windows 7 x64 and it seems to have installed correctly. I have reset my iphone (as my old one packed up with the home button, so Apple replaced it as it was still within the warrenty)and now when I connect the newly formated iphone to itunes, I get the following error,"this phone cannot be used as the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install the 64 bit version of itunes"???? i am assuming that the itunes download 'iTunes64Setup.exe' is the correct installer package for the 64bit version of windows7?
does anyone have any ideas of this, I am really missing my iphone.

now nothing happens when I connect the iPod by USB - it's not even charging.
Do you have a laptop, Nin?

  • Windows 7 x64 Syncing Never Completes. iTunes Crashes At The End

I have had my ipod touch 3g for half a year now. First I used to use it on 32bit Windows 7, but recently I upgraded my machine and run 64bit Windows 7. It has been running well for the past few months but all of a sudden I have been getting a lot of error messages as well as iTunes not being able to complete syncing.
Everything starts normally, but iTunes crashes right near the END, after all the files have been copied. You can almost smell the "Sync complete, ok to disconnect" text. Please check image.
    http://i44.tinypic.com/25jupli.png
If I let it be, then Windows eventually gives you a iTunes has crashed dialog box.
I have tried EVERYTHING. Have restored my ipod dozens of times. Have tried 9.1, 9.03 and 9.02 both in 32bit and 64bit variants. Nothing seems to work.
Funny thing is, if I go back to my old machine with the 32bit Windows 7, the ipod syncs just fine.
So I am guessings it's either a problem with my machine, or some problem with iTunes and 64bit Windows 7.
    Please help!

I've had the exact same problem since the last update. It just keeps saying "Sync in Progress" and nothing changes until I stop it. I've tried resetting, reinstalling, etc.
    I have noticed three things:
It is sync'ing at least partially...
I unchecked some photo files and it took those photo files off. But now I've added them back and it won't put any photo files onto my iPhone.
If I check/uncheck iTunes U then hit apply it will actually say "Sync Complete" but it still hasn't put my pictures back on the phone.
Also...just something that I don't like...apparently the ability to mark a podcast as "played" or "watched" is no longer available as an option at the podcast level and they have to be cleared at the individual episode level...that's totally annoying cause now I have to go through and "mark as played" for each podcast.
    Any ideas?
