ITunes deleted all my music from my iPod, but they still show up when I plug in the iPod.
Hi!
I had my iPhone 4S plugged into my computer, and I was listening to the music on my phone from the music library on my phone through iTunes. Well, after the phone got disconnected, I plugged it back in, and I was unable to play any of the songs on my iPod. I figured it was a glitch, so I unplugged and plugged it back in, but still, the same thing happened. Then I checked my iPhone, and found that only 24 songs remained, all of which could be played just fine, and all of which I had downloaded directly to my phone from the iTunes app on my phone. However, whenever I plug in my phone, all of the songs show up, but when I try to click on any of the non-24 that are on my phone, I get that exclamation point.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is the only option to readd all the songs?
Thank you!
Also, what causes this, so I can avoid it in the future?

Is there a way to hide apps from the app store?
I don't want my kids to see those "free" apps that nag you to spend real money and download their other apps!
I can hide them from "purchased apps", but they still show up when browsing for new apps!
Is there a way to hide them so that my kids will never see them when looking for new apps? Not other than parental oversight. On the computer you can implement Parental Controls on a separate user account that they would use. You can then block certain websites. But you cannot do that on the iPad.
You could change your iTunes account such that they cannot access it in order to buy or download apps. -
Deleted all my music from my ipod. how do i recover it?
I wanted to load all my music from my ipod on to my computer and I think I deleted it from my ipod. its gone.... nowhere to be found.
You should manage all your music in your iTunes library and sync some or all of it to your iPod - you should also maintain a backup of your library to safeguard against computer/hard disc issues or other failures. An iPod is not designed or suitable as a data storage device. There are methods to retrieve media from an iPod (some of which require the use of third party tools), but if your music is neither on your computer nor on your iPod then it is gone. The exceptions to this are prior iTunes Store purchases, which you may be able to download again, or having an existing iTunes Match subscription which would allow you to retrieve your library content from Apple's cloud services. Obviously any other music that you own can be re-imported from the original source, including your CDs and - in most cases - previous digital purchases from Amazon, Google Play, etc.

How do I delete all my music from my ipod touch?
I'm tired of all my songs from my IPOD touch. I want to delete all the music from it. How do I do it?
Go into iTunes and hit Restore. It will blat the Touch.

Slightly less radical would be to uncheck the "Sync Music" button on the Music tab or choose new songs to sync to it -
ITunes deleted all my music on my ipod... Can I get it back?
Damned Apple software. My computer's disk crashed irretrievably. So, I have a new disk in my iMac (thanks applecare).
I hooked my iPod up in order to try to transfer my music from my iPod onto the new disk.
Up comes a pathetic message that I thought implied that my iPod would be used to fill in my iTunes. I clicked "ok" and iTunes cleared my iPod. (Where was the usual "you are about to delete all information on this iPod" message? Apple will hear from me on that one.)
Does anyone know how to get my iPod disk directory rebuilt so I have my 20 GB of music back?
Thanks...

I have several Ipods and an Ipad. We have all deleted music from our devices and the problem we are having is the song itself is gone which is what we wanted but the song title is still on the devices. It's grey and it won't play but I want to know how to remove the deleted songs completely off my devices.
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -

I accidentally deleted all my music from iTunes I was able to recover the music. How can I restore playlists?
If these playlists are still on your iPod, check out this older thread on how to export playlists from your iPod via iTunes.

Otherwise, I'm afraid you are of luck and will need to rebuild them.

Just bought a new imac and tried to download all my music from my iPod but it only allow me to download purchased items and not the rest of stuff stored on a previous pc itunes folder. How do I get round this ?
The simplest way to transfer everything is to copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.
See "External Drive" in this article-> iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer -
I'm setting up my new iPhone and already have an iTunes account. It's asking me if I would like to set up as a new iPhone, or Restore from the backup of my iTouch. If i set up as a new iPhone will that delete all my music from my previous iTunes account?
It will not do anything at all to your computer.

How do I delete all my contacts from my iPod Touch?
I'm giving my iPod touch to my grandson and want to delete all my contacts from my iPod Touch. These have been synched from Mobile Me (.Mac). I've unchecked the synch contact box in the setting section of iTunes, but the contacts do not get deleted. (Also, I want to be careful not to accidentally delete them from my .Mac contact list in the process.) I successfully removed my music and photos in this manner, but the contacts are not being deleted. Advice would be appreciated.
Connect the Touch to iTunes and click the Restore button. After the Touch is erased and the OS is re-loaded, you'll have the option to load your last backup or set it up as a new iPod (which is what you want).
Alternatively, you can simply use the built-in utility. On the Touch go to Settings/Reset/Erase All Content and Settings. That may actually take longer than Restoring though. -
HT1848 How do I tranfers playlist and all my music from my IPOD Touch to my pc?
How do I tranfer playlist and all my music from my Ipod Touch to my pc?
Simply select only the Music that you want to sync to the iPad in iTunes. I assume that you auto sync.
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes if it does not start on its own. Assuming that you do auto sync, let the process complete. Click on your iPad name on the left side under devices. Click on the Music Tab in the iTunes window on the right side. Click on all of the albums, playlist, artists, - whatever - that you want to sync to the iPad, uncheck the music that you do not want to sync, make sure that the Sync Music heading is selected - and then click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. -
