ITunes deleted all the apps on my Touch

I'm not an experienced iTunes user, but over the past few years, i've spent a fair amount of money on apps that are now gone. Also, all my Contacts, all my Notes. Apple must have a record of the apps I've purchased. Is there any way to get them back ?

Is there any way to get them back ?
Just redownload them from the iTunes Store. It's free.

You can hide them via your computer's iTunes : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support
The 'x' might not show on their top left corner (it might be invisible), but clicking where it should be should hide the app.

You can only sync with one ITunes library. It you switch iTunes library iTunes will erase the iPod and replace it contents with what is in the library of the new computer.

  • ITunes deleted all my apps after I clicked "Cancel" to sync apps

I'm at work and I wanted to do some serious app re-arranging.  Rather than doing it manually on my iPhone5, I luanched iTunes.  Note: I do *not* sync my iPhone with my work computer, but I thought maybe it could still rearrange the apps since I can see them all nicely there in iTunes.  So here were my exact steps:
    plug in my iPhone
    launch into iTunes
    click on my iPhone device
    click on the "Apps" tab
re-arrange my Apps in a different order
checked other tabs (Tones, Music, Movies, etc) and confirmed *none* are set to sync
    clicked "Sync"
Aside: Now before you jump on the "you're an idiot bus" (still quite likely), I *did* know that this might not be a great idea.  However, I  remember accidentally clicking "sync" on a foreign computer in the past, and I remember it always asked me before doing anything destructive, so I decided it was a safe thing to try.
Anyway, back to iTunes... after I clicked "Sync", this happened:
iTunes popped up a prompt saying something along the lines of "this device is not synced with this computer, if you sync apps, it will delete all the apps on the device and replace them with the apps on this computer" with options to "sync" or "cancel".
    I clicked "Cancel"
iTunes popped up another prompt saying something like "this computer is not authorized with the iTunes account for the device" with options to "authorize" or "cancel".
    I clicked "Cancel"
At this point I EXPECTED to get a message saying iTunes could not sync the device, but INSTEAD, iTunes continued doing *something*.
By the time it was done, almost all of my App Store apps were completely wiped off my phone.  What's really odd is that some were left behind.  My phone is now in this state:
native Apple apps (phone, messages, etc) and all their data (call logs, texts, etc) are still intact
almost all purchased apps are gone
none of the purchased apps that were left behind are on the computer, so that doesn't explain why they didn't get deleted with the rest
So, what the HECK happened here?  Why did iTunes destroy all my apps when I told it not to?  Has anyone else had this problem?  Is this some strange iTunes bug that there's a magical fix to get all my apps back?  Please help.
    iTunes Version: 11.1.3
    Device: iPhone5, iOS 6.1

go into the itunes store, go to your account, click purchase history. that gives you a list of all the things you have downloaded.
you will be able to re-download all your apps for free.
and for the songs, click "report problem", this will allow you to email apple, tell them that you have lost your songs, they will usually respond fairly quickly saying that they have put the songs back into your account and that they will be available to download the next time you go into itunes.

In the simplest sense, archiving a file means making a copy that you never change and never discard. You already know how to do that.
iPhoto has built-in archival features, in the sense that it saves all versions of an image that you've modified. As long as you have adequate backups, you don't necessarily have any reason to archive an iPhoto library. If you want to delete images from the working library but still have access to them in case you change your mind, then you do need to archive those images. I don't have a specific suggestion as to how you should do that. You might post a question in the iPhoto forum.

  • ITunes apps won't sync with iPad without deleting all the apps already on the iPad!

I've been using my iPad with iCloud sync for a while and now have decided to go back to iTunes sync. I have a bunch of apps i downloaded on the iPad from its app store and want to keep them. However, when i go to the Itunes app section (which is grayed out) and select the sync apps button, all the apps on my iPad in the preview screen disappear!!! How can i sync apps from my computer and keep the apps already on the iPad?

Ditto. Even the new 2.0.1 firmware made no difference. I've had no luck with iTunes in this dept at all. I can download apps to the phone, but they won't sync back to iTunes. If I download apps to iTunes, not only will they not transfer to the phone, but all the apps on the phone get wiped w/o warning.
I've tried the following per Apple suggestions, but to no avail:
    - Reset iPhone (the home and lock button method)
    - Remove (I manually deleted all content little by little)
    - Reset Settings (done thru software, don't know how this differs from "reset iPhone" above)
    - Restore - a Huge pain in the *** for nothing. Took forever and obviously I then had to manually put all my songs, ringtones, contacts and photos back on it.
What else is there left to try?

  • ITunes deleted all the Applications from the iPhone...

I just plugged in my iPhone to charge the battery and as it began to Sync, I saw it was deleting applications.
At first I thought this was happening as a part of updating a couple of the apps, but as I watched it begin to delete them all, I switched to the Applications tab and saw that while "Selected Applications" was checked, none of the Applications themselves were.
Then iTunes began telling me it couldn't sync because "the disk couldn't be found" or something like that. After a few attempts, I turned the phone off and on.
In iTunes I selected the apps I wanted on the phone and then plugged it back in. I started the syncing process and the apps began copying to the phone.
BUT, when I checked the Applications tab, I noticed it had reverted to my previous list of selected Apps. Now I get to perform the unpleasant task of trying to rearrange them the way I had them. Fortunately I make screenshots of each page when I make changes, but moving them between pages and getting them to settle in where you want them is a pain the butt.
I don't know what caused this to happen, but it's unnerving.

A bit of a similar story.
Bought a new MBP, and transferred everything from the old MB to it. The migration process is just amazing, at least it seemed so.
Due to limited disc size in MB, I had iTunes library on an AirDisc. The setup was a constant pain in the butt, since iTunes seems to be faster than the waking up of the sleeping connection, leading constantly to "lost" songs. One of the reasons for buying the MBP was to have the iTunes library (of about 90GB) on its disc.
The migration did not transfer the library of course and I did it manually by connecting a USB cable, configuring iTunes music folder pointing to MBP and consolidating library. I have no idea why, but it took three attempts to finally succeed, I eventually had to erase all songs from iTunes and then choose "Add to Library" pointing to the disc as a whole.
Everything looked cool, except of course empty playlists. Connected the first iPhone, and got a message asking if I want to transfer purchased apps from the phone to iTunes. In case on answering "NO" they would be erased from the iPhone. Obviously I chose the transfer. To my amazement, iTunes started to promptly erase apps. As some others here, I thought it is part of the process. After the sync I noticed that apps were really erased from the phone.
Came here and did the logoff-logon, unauthorize-authorize trick, hooked the other iPhone the the MBP and after the same dialogue as above, this time iTunes did copy apps back to the computer.
Synced the first iPhone, and everything came back to normal.
Without the second iPhone, I do not know what I would have done.
Obviously, when changing to a new computer, you should authorize it BEFORE the first sync.

  • ITune deleted all my apps !

I plugged my iPhone to charge it and as usual it started iTune to sync it. I got a message from iTunes saying that the library was corrupted and that it would do a copy of it before trying to repair it. Ok fine, at worst I will have to rebuild it ... so I thought. iTunes then told me I had DRMed songs on the device and that it would need to remove them if I wanted to transfer them. Weird it always worked before, so I just clicked "Don't transfer". This is where iTunes decided to remove 90% of all my applications. Deleted them no question asked. Now I'm left with a near empty iPhone and only one of the ton of apps I bought shows in iTunes ... What do I do to get all the apps I paid for back? (I'm on windows XP latest service pack and itune 8.0.2.20)

Have you synced to the computer before? It sounds like you might not have. If you sync to a different computer iTunes, after giving you an option of not o, will erase the Ipad and then replace its contents with the items in the iTunes library on the computer.
To recover, you need to restore you iPod from the last backup of you iPad on the computer you sync with. If you and your wife use the same computer for syncing you should check the box in the Devices tab of iTunes preferences to not sync automatically. With the iPad 90r iPhone)connected to the computer if you go to the Apps pane in iTunes you can select what apps get synced to the iPad (or iPhone).

  • ITunes deleted all the music on my ipod - help!

I purchased a fourth generation black and white screen 20GB ipod that had some music on it.
I've been listening to the music for about a week without bothering to connect up to my computer.
Today I installed the software that came with the ipod and updated to the newest versions of iTunes and Quicktime.
I connected my ipod when it told me to.
No music appeared in iTunes and all the music has been deleted from the ipod, the ipod menus for music are empty.
When I disconnect my ipod I now have no music to listen to.
Where did it go and how can I get it back?
    Thank you.

You might not bea ble to get it back. Invest $100 on itunes cards!

  • Is it possible to delete all the apps that arn't on my ipod from iTunes?

Hi i have many apps. And when i say many i mean 513 apps (i had atleast 700 at once but my 32gb ipod became full)
I was just wondering if it is possible to select all of the apps that are not on my ipod because i have deleted them and then delete them from iTunes but still keep the files.
I found one way were i would open up the list of apps in a new window, connect my ipod so it is not syncing and then scroll through the list on my ipod finding apps that dont have a tick them finding them in the apps library in the other windows and deleting them but this is taking AGES!
Is there a quicker way of selecting them and pressing delete but still keeping the files because i have a backup problem and need to remove all of the apps and i cannot be bothered to write down the ones i have ticked and the ones i dont have ticked when i can just remove the ones that arn't ticked then untick them all backup my ipod add 50 apps then back up again and then 50 more etc.
The reason i am backing up like this is because i have done it before because my backups for itunes always screw up and this fixed it last time but i had to go through the list of apps and select ones i want and ones i dont want.
PLZ HELP ME IT WOULD SAVE ME ALOT OF TIME!!
btw yes my ipod button is stuck i am thinking of using alcohol but i will have to talk to my dad before doing that

It sounds like a remote erase was sent via 'Find My Mac', to check please go to www.icloud.com and login. Is there any data there?
If it was a remote erase only someone who had the ID and password could have done it. And in that case the data is gone, it is not recoverable I'm afraid.

  • ITunes deleted ALL my apps and a lot of my music... I'm going to scream

So I hooked up my iPod touch 2nd generation to my computer last week to Sync it and back it up. After the sync, EVERY SINGLE one of my apps was gone. Gone from my iPod, gone from iTunes... GONE GONE. Poof. I was mad.
Mad doesn't begin to describe how I feel now that I plugged it in again today and 90 of my songs were deleted. Again from my iPod AND iTunes. I have no idea which ones they are yet. Everything on this iPod is legal and fully legit. No illegal downloads...etc. Why is this happening, and is there ANY way I can get this stuff back? I am so sick of this. iTunes is supposed to back up my stuff in case I lose it of my iPod so why is it taking it away?
If anyone has any advice, I'd be forever grateful.
    Thank you.

  • How can I connect my iPhone to my Mac without deleting all the apps on it?

Last night I bought a bunch of apps using iTunes on my Mac. Then I connected my iPhone and put the apps from the computer onto the iPhone. So far so good.
Today I opened up iTunes on another Mac and before connecting the phone first selected Store > Check for available downloads. A dialog came up saying "all purchases have been downloaded for this account."
Under preferences I checked "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.
I then connected my iPhone to this second Mac and did the update to iOS 4.1.
(By the way the reason I used the second Mac to do this update was that it failed repeatedly on the first Mac with an error saying something like can't create a session. I went through Apple's related troubleshooting document extremely carefully and methodically, but that didn't help. I then followed the recommendation in that document to try with a second Mac.)
Now all my new apps as well as several others are gone from the iPhone.
Also in iTunes itself on the second computer all my new apps are missing. I looked under the "Library" section in iTunes and a bunch of apps that I've been trying over and over for months to simply delete are present and none of the ones I bought last night are present.
    Questions:
    1. How can I get my apps back? It cost me a lot of time and money to discover those apps and get them onto the phone. Are they just gone now?
    2. How can I connect my phone to my computer without completely ******* up my phone? Does Apple provide a way to do that?
    3. Is there ANY way that I can effectively control what is and is not on my phone (apps, videos, etc.) or is that just supposed to be sort of random?
By the way it appears that Apple doesn't allow "potty words" on its forum because we all are, after all, six year olds. So just to be clear, what I MEANT and what I WROTE was "eff u cee kay i en gee up my phone."

Now all my new apps as well as several others are gone from the iPhone.
Look on other screens. The 4.1 update ands Game Center to the home screen. If that screen was full it create a blank screen and moves one app from the home screen to the new screen to make room for Game Center. All the other screens are pushed back one place.
How can I get my apps back? It cost me a lot of time and money to discover those apps and get them onto the phone. Are they just gone now?
If they are really gone, you can download them again. You will not be charged again if you use the same iTunes account.

  • ITunes deletes all the music off of my iPod. Why?

iTunes is being a huge piece of crap. I want it to sync my songs onto my iPod Touch 4G. Instead, it decides to delete all 5500+ songs off of my iPod... twice. Once, I managed to put the songs back on, this takes over an hour and a half, then it deletes them again the next day. HELP ME PLEASE! I AM SO MAD WITH THE SERVICE I AM GETTING!

If the songs are removed from your iPod at a Sync, then presumably, you have a setting somewhere that is causing this.
First of all, you are not trying to Sync with two different Libraries, are you? The iPod is designed to Sync with one Library only, if you try to connect your iPod to a different computer (with a second Library), then all the original content will be removed.
Then - when the iPod is connected to your iTunes Library, check on the Device/Summary pane and confirm that the Sync Music is "on" and Entire music library is also "on".
If neither of these steps provides a solution, walk us through whatever you are doing when the music disappears from your iPod.

  • How do I turn off Sync without iTunes deleting all the songs on my iPod!

Well that's basically my question. I want to keep all the songs that are already there, but from this point on just add new ones manually. When I unchecked the Sync box it wiped out my iPod. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You need to turn off automatic sync before you delete all your tracks from iTunes. If you don't, then you need to prevent the iPod from synching when you connect:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Command and Option keys on a Mac. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer. Then you can set iTunes to manual synchronization.
Of course, this won't help if your iPod has already had the tracks removed. But you'll know what to do next time.
    Regards.

  • TS3219 Why did my itunes delete all the music off my iphone and how do I get it back on?  Syncing has not worked

Got my Iphone.  Already had itunes and was able to figure out how to put my music on.  Got a new laptop with Windows 8.  Downloaded itunes and authorized this new computer.  Imported a cd to the library, then couldn't sync the new songs from the cd.  Somehow started a sync, then boom all the music was gone from the iphone.  Maybe I hit a restore button?  Don't have a clue what I am doing,  now I have managed to get only the imported songs from the library onto the iphone, but none of the others.  Everytime I plug it into my laptop, my photo stream asks if I want to download all my pics, that are already downloaded, and doesn't open itunes.  Help.  I am getting fed up and cant even figure out how to download the user manuals on any of this stuff!
