Itunes deleted my ipod music...

this is annoying... i thought i waited long enough for itunes to become predictable before upgrading from 6 to 7... last night, i decided to update itunes on my home computer... it seemed to work ok. i played some songs from it and imported another cd... it all seemed to work fine. i plugged in this is annoying... i thought i waited long enough for itunes to become predictable before upgrading from 6 to 7... last night, i decided to update itunes on my home computer... it seemed to work ok. i played some songs from it and imported another cd... it all seemed to work fine. i plugged in my ipod, it looked fine. i synced my ipod... it copied 7 songs and i watched the display and saw it was updating what had changed in my computer since the last ipod sync... itunes indicates successful sync... i turned off the auto sync and unmounted the ipod... i came to work today, plugged my ipod into my work computer and itunes shows NO music... after about 5 minutes of clicking thru the different options to see what was wrong with itunes on my work computer, itunes crashed unexpectedly (as opposed to an expected crash... grin) i unmounted my ipod and used the ipod to sort thru my music. my ipod display shows NO music... argh!! i don't know if somehow the itunes on the work computer wiped out my music or if something went wrong with the sync last night... there was no indication on either end of a problem... the work computer didn't show that it was changing anything on my ipod when i plugged it in... they are both on itunes 7.0.2... i'll have to do some research at home to see what is wrong...
my usage may be differnent than what most people do, since use mulitple computers and just plug in my ipod as the storage media and the local itunes on my different computers to play the songs on my ipod... so, i keep sycning turned off and only turn it on when i want my home itunes to copy songs onto it... yes, i also play music thru my ipod head phones...
looks like i have some research to do tonight...
has anyone else ran into this before?

seeing iTunes deleted my iPod, how can I transfer music from iPhone to iTunes?

any itunes purchased music can be transferred from phone to pc via hitting the "transfer purchases" option when u right click on the phone under devices in itunes on the computer when it is plugged in. any non-itunes purchased music is stuck on the phone and cannot be transferred to the computer. u will have to load it onto the computer from the original source or from the old computer.

  • ITunes deleted all the music on my ipod - help!

I purchased a fourth generation black and white screen 20GB ipod that had some music on it.
I've been listening to the music for about a week without bothering to connect up to my computer.
Today I installed the software that came with the ipod and updated to the newest versions of iTunes and Quicktime.
I connected my ipod when it told me to.
No music appeared in iTunes and all the music has been deleted from the ipod, the ipod menus for music are empty.
When I disconnect my ipod I now have no music to listen to.
Where did it go and how can I get it back?
    Thank you.

You might not bea ble to get it back. Invest $100 on itunes cards!

  • ITunes deleted all my music on my ipod... Can I get it back?

Damned Apple software. My computer's disk crashed irretrievably. So, I have a new disk in my iMac (thanks applecare).
I hooked my iPod up in order to try to transfer my music from my iPod onto the new disk.
Up comes a pathetic message that I thought implied that my iPod would be used to fill in my iTunes. I clicked "ok" and iTunes cleared my iPod. (Where was the usual "you are about to delete all information on this iPod" message? Apple will hear from me on that one.)
Does anyone know how to get my iPod disk directory rebuilt so I have my 20 GB of music back?
    Thanks...

  • HELP I DELETED MY IPOD MUSIC AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO GET IT BACK!

OK SO I WAS TRYING TO PUT THE MUSIC ALREADY ON MY I POD ONTO I TUNES AND INSTEAD MADE A PLAYLIST ON MY IPOD WITH THE MUSIC THAT WAS ALREADY ON IT- I WENT TO DELETE THE PLAYLIST AND IT DELETED ALL THE MUSIC ON MY IPOD HOW DO I GET IT BACK? THANK YOU

The songs were added while my husband was in Korea. So yes, it was probably done in itunes, but not on this computer. I was hoping there was a third party program that could recover the deleted files. I really do appreciate the time you have taken to try to help me, and I understand that alot of people are here trying to help other people, so typing in all capital letters probably is not or at least should not be so big of an issue, especially after the person corrected thier typing and explained why they were typing they were typing that way in the first place.;-)

  • Why does iTunes delete all my music and then re-download (not all of) it when I sync?

So, I plugged my phone into my PC, and it loaded on the iTunes screen. I then went into the device and removed a couple of playlists from the phone (it had run out of space). When I then hit sync, rather than just removing the playlists and syncing to update anything that needed updated, it bloody well deleted ALL my music and then started downloading it again. We are talking about around 30-50GB of music. Not only this, but it appears to NOT download all the tracks on my playlists so I'm left with half the music I should have.
I have had this happen before and last time it totally screwed up my phone leaving me with the only option of completely reinstalling iOS7. Has anyone else had this happen? Is it fixable?  Not only this, but I am aware of "manage music manually" but have no idea where it is or how to activate it. I'm just bloody sick of apple! Why can't they get their **** together and fix these little bugs. I love their hardware but they clearly have too many ego driven tossers programming their software who don't think fixing issues is their problem!
Any help would be most appreciated as it's driving me up the bloody wall! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

I'm not sure why this happens, but I found a workaround. Below the album title it will list the artist(s). The issue seems to happen when there are multiple artists. For example, an Album titled "Over the Sea to Skye" has The Chieftains and James Galway as artists. Some tracks (for whatever reason) will list only one of these and result in the playlist showing what appears to be multiple albums. You can click on the artists and it will highlight. Paste in what is appearing on the other "albums" and it will then show as one:
Hope that is somewhat clear enough to help. Doesn't fix whatever the issue is but it is a workaround. For me this is only happening with CD's that I have imported.

  • ITunes deletes all the music off of my iPod. Why?

iTunes is being a huge piece of crap. I want it to sync my songs onto my iPod Touch 4G. Instead, it decides to delete all 5500+ songs off of my iPod... twice. Once, I managed to put the songs back on, this takes over an hour and a half, then it deletes them again the next day. HELP ME PLEASE! I AM SO MAD WITH THE SERVICE I AM GETTING!

If the songs are removed from your iPod at a Sync, then presumably, you have a setting somewhere that is causing this.
First of all, you are not trying to Sync with two different Libraries, are you? The iPod is designed to Sync with one Library only, if you try to connect your iPod to a different computer (with a second Library), then all the original content will be removed.
Then - when the iPod is connected to your iTunes Library, check on the Device/Summary pane and confirm that the Sync Music is "on" and Entire music library is also "on".
If neither of these steps provides a solution, walk us through whatever you are doing when the music disappears from your iPod.

  • ITunes deleted all my music from my iPod, but they still show up when I plug in the iPod.

    Hi!
I had my iPhone 4S plugged into my computer, and I was listening to the music on my phone from the music library on my phone through iTunes. Well, after the phone got disconnected, I plugged it back in, and I was unable to play any of the songs on my iPod. I figured it was a glitch, so I unplugged and plugged it back in, but still, the same thing happened. Then I checked my iPhone, and found that only 24 songs remained, all of which could be played just fine, and all of which I had downloaded directly to my phone from the iTunes app on my phone. However, whenever I plug in my phone, all of the songs show up, but when I try to click on any of the non-24 that are on my phone, I get that exclamation point.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is the only option to readd all the songs?
    Thank you!

Also, what causes this, so I can avoid it in the future?

  • Sync my current music wit new music in iTUNES deleted all current music.

TODAY i sync my current music wit new music from iTunes. it deleted my all my current music but not the new music.
how can i get back my old songs and still keep the new ones?
    PLEASE HELP!
I AM SO AGITATED RIGHT NOW?
    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Any music that is not in your own iTunes library will be erased from the iPod when you connect and sync.
That appears to be the case here.
"a friend gave it to me with music already downloaded."
The iPod is not designed to share music this way.

  • Itunes deleted half my music library!

Ok this one is a strange one... Last week, itunes just did erased half of my music library! What's strange is that something happen that erased every album that contained more than one discs! Almost all my library is made of greatest hits and compilation of any kind... So let say that I had the Phil Collins Platinum Collection which contain 3 discs... Disc 2 and 3 have been erased! And that for every artists that had more than one discs in the collection. Artist with singles disc haven't been touch! I Know it seems impossible but it really happen. I use a NAS disk to store my library which is set as a RAID 1 (mirroring).. I was hopping it was a disk problem (so I would be able to retrieve the data from the other disk... no both disk where operating A1... it seems like it was some kind of command to delete those album! I've just finish re-importing every album one disc at a time! Hope It won't happen again!

I did first check to see if it was just a corruption of the Itunes library. But the files were no longer on my HD. Free Space on disk jumped from 28gb free to 36gb free.
First checked the disk using disk utility then used Disk Warrior just to make sure disk utility was not missing anything. Both came back as reporting no errors.
So I am still at a lose on how this happened and what I can do to prevent it form happing again.
Still there was no logic to the files that were deleted, it was not 1 for 1 with the songs and videos on the Ipod. Nor was it just songs or movies that were not purchased through Itunes. Some of the albums I had bought from Itunes were erased, others were left.
About 60-70% of the songs lost were on the Ipod, and All the Movies, but not the Tv Series, all of the sample books that I had downloaded to Ibook were gone from the Ipod, but not the Ibook that came with Ibooks. But no Apps were lost from the Ipod or from Itunes.
The only good thing is that I back up the Itunes library monthly, and use time machine every other day. So nothing was really lost just shocked me.. To have Itunes get rid of most of my music and videos.
Looked through my log files and nothing showed up.
and if it might help, Im using a MBP 17 2.6 4gbr 10.5.8 that i purchased in feb of 08 using Itunes 9.2
    But Thanks for your Reply.

  • ITunes deleted my whole music library. I was not performing an upgrade at the time. They disappeared over night without me doing anything. How can i get them back without going one by one?

I woke up this morning to find my computer had restarted itself. I don't know why. Must've upgraded something. When i opened iTunes my entire library was gone. The playlists are still there, just nothing inside them. iTunes didn't upgrade over night since it still asks me to. I've tried a system restore to the day previous but it did nothing. How can i get everything back the way it was? I would really like to not have to import it all again individually.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
Would you mind telling me which anti-virus package you use? It may be that it is disturbing iTunes when it tries to write out the fresh database, as it does after almost any activity with your library. I'm noticing more of this type of problem than usual and trying to see if there is any pattern. It may help to prevent a repeat of the problem if you look at the advanced options for your AV package and see if you can find a way to exclude the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.

  • ITunes deletes recently added music

Help! This morning when i opened iTunes all the music i'd uplaoded in the past three days had been deleted as well as the Recently Added playlist, the Top 25 playlist and all other playlists I had made. Does anyone know what went wrong or how to fix it?

Have the tunes themselves actually been deleted or just their reference from the Library? Did you check the trash?

  • ITUNES DELETED MY IPOD

I used to have 20 gigs of music on my ipod. Stupid me, I was suckered into installing itunes 7 and (1) when I updated my iPod I went from 20 gigs of music down to 700 Mb; (2) whenever itunes is open, Safari becomes slower than molasses in winter. I think a class action law suit is needed since the last few software updates in my personal experience is worst than Windows. I’m switching since Jobs defected to Disneyland. this absolutely ridiculous that there appears to be no quality control.

Do you have the "Automatically download .....artwork" option enabled in iTunes prefs>General? If so that might be a reason for Safari slowing down - depending on the speed of your internet connection.
Did your iPod go from 20 gig to 700meg or your iTunes Library lost tunes?
Talk of legal action won't get you far in the forums as it is user to user and only Apple answering a few queries. If dissatisfied then contact Apple directly using the iTunes Menu>Provide iTunes Feedback.

  • TS3219 Why did my itunes delete all the music off my iphone and how do I get it back on?  Syncing has not worked

Got my Iphone.  Already had itunes and was able to figure out how to put my music on.  Got a new laptop with Windows 8.  Downloaded itunes and authorized this new computer.  Imported a cd to the library, then couldn't sync the new songs from the cd.  Somehow started a sync, then boom all the music was gone from the iphone.  Maybe I hit a restore button?  Don't have a clue what I am doing,  now I have managed to get only the imported songs from the library onto the iphone, but none of the others.  Everytime I plug it into my laptop, my photo stream asks if I want to download all my pics, that are already downloaded, and doesn't open itunes.  Help.  I am getting fed up and cant even figure out how to download the user manuals on any of this stuff!
