Itunes deleted songs and apps
When I plugged my IPod in to get updated and when I took it out all my songs and apps were deleted and when I went to my itunes library , none of the songs or apps I bought were in there.
- When you deleted them did the requested amount of storage space decrease?
- Try resetting the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- When you look at the colored bargraph of storage usage on the iPod in iTunes how much is taken up by "other". If greater than about 3/4 GB then restoring from backup usually reduced the "other".

Our daughter figured out on her own how to delete songs and apps from her IPAD2. Drives us crazy since we continually have to reload these files. Her parents would like to know
1. how she did it (delete files) and
2. how to prevent her from deleting files in the future.http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4213

i downloaded mac osx leopard and after it was done all the contents of my computer was gone. i was able to get some back but all the songs and apps on itunes that i had are still gone how do i get them back
Use your backup copy. This is one of the many reasons that backing up your important info/music/pics/docs/etc is basic.
Certainly you did not upgrade you operating system without backing up first? -
ITunes copying same songs and apps every sync
Every single time I sync my iPhone 4s (iOS 6) to iTunes 11 (OS 10.6.8) it copies the same songs and apps to my iTunes. Like right now it says "Syncing Danielle's iPhone (Step 5 of 5)" and right below that "Copying 8 of 10: MC3" (which stands for the app, Modern Combat 3). No more than 5 minutes ago I was syncing my iPhone and it was copying that app (it takes forever too because it's a big file). All I changed was adding some calendar events on my macbook in iCal then I wanted to sync it again real quick and it's copying all of these files again that it just did.
One of the problems could be that I have it removed from my iPhone but it's still checkmarked in iTunes? I can't see how that would be practical though. I would think that if I deleted a song on my iPhone, or deleted an app, that when it connected to iTunes next it would make a note that I don't want it on my phone anymore. Anyone know the source of the issue? Some other program is interfering with itunes saving its database file.
iTunes Library.itl
This is really common for Sony Vaio users running Vista. Either disable the Vaio's music service program (VCFw.exe), or uninstall it, as Evert Yntema chose to do.
See this post
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8545376
And for folks who don't have a Vaio, the next biggest culprit is security or backup software scanning the itunes folders. You need to configure
Norton/Symantec
McAfee
Kaspersky
ESET NOD
IObits
Windows Live OneCare
Carbonit
Mozy
or whatever software you've got installed to ignore the itunes folder or specifically, that ITL file.
If you're getting tons of TMP files, something is interfering with itunes saving the ITL file. A workaround is to same that ITL file to a different folder or USB drive just before you close itunes. -
I had my computer wiped and they accidentally wiped my itunes! I have a iPod touch gen 3 but i cant now download or put more music on, without the whole thing being wiped, and I have spent a lot of money on songs and apps! Does anyone have an ideas about what I could do, to prevent all my things deleting, because I won't be spending more money on apps that I have already purchased once!!
Thank you,1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer. -
Just in case that wasn't specific enough....It's an older ipod touch. He gave it to me as a Christmas gift and I want to keep the songs and Apps he already has on it but I want to be able to add more to it which means I would need it on my own itunes account because I can't add anything to it without a password.
I'd suggest restoring it to make sure you start completely clean:

Then you can sync whatever content you wish:

I am trying to set up my new iphone but I don't want itunes to think it is my old phone. I would like to know how if I can set up my new phone so it is separate from my old one but still be able to load the songs and apps I want onto my new phone....is this possible?
Thanks. I messed up with my husbands iphone because I was told the wrong thing. Now everytime I sync his phone it makes it look just like the other phone I had. Do you know how I can fix taht for his phone? Any settings I can turn off that will prevent all of my apps/contacts, etc from auto populating his phone?

I just bought a new macbook air. Now i want to sync my iphone to this computer. I copied all my songs and apps to the itunes. If I sync do i loose all my contacts and notes? because i could not copy it to itunes
You need to use the backup of your PC to transfer all the music files to iTunes on the Mac.
If you have no backup then you have a difficult task ahead of you as iTunes will only allow you to sync purchased music from the iPhone back into iTunes. Any music you loaded into iTunes yourself will not transfer from the iPhone to iTunes, this is to prevent stealing of music. To sync iTunes purchased music from the iPhone to iTunes, connect the iPhone and open iTunes, but when asked do NOT sync the device. then right click on the iPhone in the iTunes source list and select the 'Transfer Purchases' option, you will also find this commend in the File menu.
If you are in the US, you can use the new iTunes in the Could feature to redownload your iTunes purchased music / apps / books for free.
If you want to transfer all the content from your iPhone to you Mac then you will need to use Google to find a 3rd party piece of software that will do this for you. -

I have over 20 songs and apps on my phone and when i connect it to my computer none will transfer over into my Itunes on my computer this is the first time this has done this and i dont want to loose anything, everything is up to date so im not sure why this is happening
The computer must be authorized to the same account you have on your iPhone. Connect the phone and choose Transfer Purchases from the iTunes File menu.

When I updated my iphone 4 with itunes. it deleted songs and changed my ringtones. How do I stop this from happening in the future and get my songs replaced?
You have POP mail account. That's how those types of email accounts work.
You want an IMAP type of account, where if you delete on phone, it will also delete on server. Should you ever restore your device again it will only update the mail that hasn't been deleted.
You didn't say which email service you use, but try contacting them to see if they offer IMAP. Or you can switch. -

No.

My iPod wont allow me to download certain songs and apps, why not?
I have tried to download certain songs and apps on my iPod touch, but for some reason where it say 'install' the button can't be pressed, I can download other apps and songs but its just songs and apps here and there. For songs as well, I can have them on my iTunes but not on the iPod, I don't understand!
Is the "Restrictions" feature enabled? You can prevent downloading explicit songs and apps with that feature. Check that and then try again.

My sister and I have been using my mom's apple ID for 6 years now. All of our songs and apps are on my mom's account. Now that we are older and have our own ipads (and soon iphones) we would like to make seperate accounts. Is there a way to transfer all of our songs and apps and such to a new account? Or do I have to start from scratch?...
You have to start from scratch. You cannot transfer purchases fro one Apple ID to another ID. Purchases are always tied to the ID that was used to make the purchases.
That doesn't mean that you can't still use the purchases - because you can. However, of you want to update any apps that are tied to your mom's account, you will always have to use her ID and password in order to update them.
If you want to create your own Apple ID, you need to sign out of your mom's ID in Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap the ID and sign out. Then you can create the new ID. Read more here.

Be aware of the pitfall of using another ID in order to download past purchases when switching ID's. Read more here.
