Itunes deletes purchased music?

This is a big problem,
after buying many songs through itunes suddenly half of the songs have gone missing.
I did use another computer before but transfered over all of the music and now the files have just upright dissapeared.
So I've put a lot of money into itunes in fact, and i'm missing about 800 dollars worth of music
How did the files just suddenly dissapear and how do I restore this music?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ttake a look here for some tips on how to look for the missing tracks.
Good luck.

  • Deleting purchased music from ipad

If I delete purchased music from ipad will it remain in iTunes Match given that I did not delete from iCloud?

Yes, the tracks will remain in the cloud. It is not possible to delete tracks from the cloud on an iOS device.

  • Accidentally deleted Purchased Music playlist

I accidentally deleted Purchased Music playlist, no idea really how, bad computer day. Any suggestions on how to get it back? Without poking through my entire library to load purchases.

Ok, what about how with the last Itunes upgrade, it deleted all my purchased music from personal CD's! Is Itunes only designed to play music from Apple? I thought it was designed more like Windows Media Player and that any music purchased on the computer would play. I have my ghost playlists still listed in Itunes, but no songs because they have been deleted. My Iphone has all the music, but I can't transfer them to Itunes. The sync only goes from computer to device. Any one here about Senuti? Is it trustworthy?

  • While syncing movie iPod/iTunes deletes my music and Podcasts

While syncing movie iPod/iTunes deletes my music and Podcasts. This is very frustrating becaucse I have ALL my sync settings set to Manual. What can I do to stop this? I'm about to throw my iPod against the wall!

sorry you've just been dealt a blow from Apple trying to "help" its customers. you're correct: you cannot sync only music or movies. even if "manually sync" is selected, once you sync something like moves, the rest of your library gets deleted. it's completely backwards and non-intuitive.

  • ITunes deletes all music expect purchased

I plugged my iPod in to my computer and iTunes opened, i was adding music manually because i had recently added a new CD to my computer. When i tried to add any music files that were no originally purchased from the iTunes store it would delete it. The thing is i go on to iTunes itself and it shows that all my music is there both purchased songs and manual added songs. When i actually go get on my device (ipod 5th gen.) it's all only just purchased music. I tried to add the music all back but by the time i get any music basically added back through it after deleting it off my iPod it just ends up deleting the songs and again leaving only purchased songs on my iPod. I'm not sure on to entirely how to fix it but I'm really disappointing on iTunes behalf, this is not the first time this has happened and i highly doubt it will be the last. Last time it fixed itself but i have no idea how on earth what had triggered it but i hate this happens so often.

I have had the same problem for two months and have tried many different suggestions with no luck. Have you been given any answers from apple?

  • Deleting purchased music

Can you delete songs in the "purchased music" section in iTunes?

Yes, just delete it from your library.

  • Itunes deleting purchased songs

For some reason itunes has started to move my purchased (itunes store) songs to my PC recycle bin. I don't know if this is realated but it started happening after I began to download and load more podcasts onto my ipod. Does anyone know what the problem is??

I don't know why Apple defenders make this so complicated. There are literally youtube videos out there of iTunes deleting music/video files. I have had it happen so many times that I stopped using iTunes and Apple's media service all together.
iTunes, not some other windows application as I have seen here, is deleting files. I have seen iTunes crash when trying to open a music/video file and have seen it disappear from an open Finder window. And for the record I have never had Window Media Player ever delete a file from my PC.
I have also noticed my non-purchased music disappearing slowly over time especially each time iTunes loses connection with my NAS, don't ask me how a mac running 24/7 connected to a network via an ethernet cable can lose connection to a NAS that is just an apple thing my Windows machines have no issue, several non-purchased deletions occur.
I think Apple has a serious code issue on their hands, application crashing should never cause data loss, but we will see if they are more interested in defending apple's reputation or taking care of their customers.

  • Deleted Purchased Music Playlist (not music)

I accidentally deleted the "Purchased" playlist which is a default list under Music Store. The songs are there...just the (green) playlist is gone. How do I get it back?

I copied this hint from a post of an Apple employee a while ago.
    It said:
Could you try turning on the Shopping Cart for me?
    1. Open iTunes.
    2. From the iTunes menu, select Preferences.
    3. In the Preferences window, select the green Store icon.
    4. In the Store pane, click the radio button labeled Buy Using a Shopping Cart.
Let me know if this makes the Purchased Music playlist reappear.
If this doesn't do the trick, the playlist should re-appear on your next purchase.
Or, in the meantime, make a Smart Playlist with the rule:
    Kind - contains - protected
This will put all your purchases in that playlist.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes deletes all music from CDs from my iPhone

I recently purchased a new iPhone 6. I transferred all my apps, photos, music etc to the new phone and everything appeared fine. However every time I sync the phone with iTunes all of my music that was not purchased through iTunes (e.g. CDs that I imported into iTunes) gets deleted from my phone. However it does not show up as deleted until I try to play it, at which point my phone skips through all the songs showing a red square next to them. I have iTunes set up to sync my entire music library. The only way I know how to get all the songs back is to delete all music from the phone each time I sync with iTunes and let iTunes copy everything back to my phone (and avoid syncing with my PC unless I really have to). Once re-synced everything is fine until I sync the phone with iTunes again at which point all my music other than iTunes purchases are removed from my phone.

I have had the same problem for two months and have tried many different suggestions with no luck. Have you been given any answers from apple?

  • Accidentally deleted purchased music

I accidentally deleted 12 songs from a purchased album.  I have looked for the files in icloud and the left column tells me 13 songs are available, but in the right hand side downloads column, only one song shows (which is the one I have already).  I have searched in finder and the files are no longer their either.  How can I re-download them when they won't show up?

    Hi David,
    1. Buy another song, as previously mentioned (iTunes will recreate your purchased folder automatically)
    2. Within iTunes: go to your entire music library (make sure the "Kind" column is displayed, the one that shows whether your songs are formatted in MP3, AAC, Protected AAC, etc.)
    3. in the iTunes search field type: protected
    4. all of your purchased music should pop up > select it all and drag and drop it all into your newly recreated "Purchased" folder.
note: if you have any drm free songs this method will obviously not work for those particular songs, and whatever song you purchase to recreate your purchased folder will end up twice in that folder.

  • How do I delete Purchased Music Files from my iPhone 5? Im running iOS 8.2

So I have attempted every which way to delete my music including going to General>Settings>Usage>Music Delete.  Certain files remain on my phone and i cant delete them in any fashion.  This seems like a bug because I have gone to the store to download the rest of the album then can finally swipe and delete.  This is a long process and does not seem to be too user friendly.  There has to be a better way to do this right?
Also, I have noticed that when plugging in iphone to my PC, I have problems uploading music....arrrrrrggggggg!!! Help Please.

    Hi maureenfromminneapolis,
I understand that you want to delete some songs off of your iPhone in order to make room for an iOS update. You can find some information on deleting music files in iOS in the following article:
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5772
Note that this article is only for music items downloaded from the iTunes Store. In order to remove items that you have synced into your device from your computer, you will need to connect back to the computer you used to add the music, uncheck the items you want removed, then sync to confirm the removal of these items. Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

  • Synced new ipod to itunes, now missing all but itunes store purchased music that is already on my phone

Synced our new ipod nano today to itunes. I don't know what happened but now all but itunes store purchases are in the library, my playlist is gone as well as all the music I had downloaded from my CD's. The iphone 5 still has everything on it but not on my computer. Frustrating!!   Now I'm scared to sync my phone, thinking I may lose all of my library off there as well. How do I get my library back on to my computer so I can transfer that music to my ipod?

Look into iTunes Match, a service from Apple that uploads your music in itunes to the cloud (not icloud) so you can download it to other devices.
    Try googling "itunes match"

  • Itunes Deleted My Music

I updated ITunes to the latest version and I seem to have deleted my music. I asked my friend who also have the same issue but she said she found her music in one of her school folder after she searched for it.
I have gone through my computer, by folder and through the search program as the "ITunes Resolution" site said. Still i have yet to find my music or get any help with this issue.
I searched for .m4p, .m4v, .m4b, .mp4, .m4r, .m4a, .ipa, ipg, .ite, .itlp, or .epub to my search bar, and i continually got no results. That is the only thing the ITunes Support said to do. But this didn't work for me and I paid a lot of money for all my music and I think it's pretty ridiculous that I can't get any help on getting it back.
I called the help line and a computer told me that because I didn't have a Mac it couldn't help me and to look it up on the site. I am still a consumer of Apple good, I don’t see why I get less service because I choose a different OS.
I want to know any other suggestions about what i can do or even better who i can talk to help me my music back or at least get some kind of retribution for all the music I lost.
    Respectfully,
    KS

Sounds like you're a new PC user? Is this on a school network and you need to search on another drive? Your recycle bin? Ask your friend to sit with you & help?
This is what the Apple folks probably suggested
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1408
It doesn't matter whether you're on a Windows PC or a Mac - if those files are deleted and you don't have a backup, they are GONE. That paragraph at the end applies to WIndows & Mac
    "Still can't find them?"
You can ask for a re-grant of your downloads. The worst that can happen, is they say no.
