Itunes deletes songs in my playlist when I sync, any help please

When I sync my music to my iphone 4s the playlist comes up with 1 song out of 7 in it, and when I make it on my phone the minute I sync it to my mac it leaves just that 1 song. Any help?

How did you clean up the duplicates? A playlist is an ordered list of references to tracks in iTunes. If you had duplicates in the library you may have added one version of a track to one playlist and the duplicate to a different list. When you remove the duplicate only the first list contains a reference to the song.
I have a script which would have eliminated duplicates while preserving playlist membership, and merging ratings, play & skip counts etc. More here: Re: When I delete duplicates how do I know which version is the original song and which is the duplicate? If restoring the playlists is important you may be able to restore a previous version of your main iTunes library, itl file that still has the uncorrupted playlists using the techniques in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash and then run my script to dedupe. If you've updated iTunes regularly however, and don't have some other backup of the .itl, your most recent file is likely to be from last October.

  • Itunes deletes songs on my playlists

I am getting sick and tired of this. I just updated my Ipod Touch to version 4.1, and when it updated it it deleted my songs and playlists. I had no problem putting my songs on, but making the playlists is becoming a pain. Whenever I make a playlist on my Ipod, and then when I connect it to Itunes, Itunes deletes the playlists. When I make a playlist on Itunes, however, It stays on the Ipod. But when I add songs to it, when i connect it to Itunes it deletes my songs in the playlist. The only way to add songs to a playlist is on Itunes. Please help me with this, I had no problem with this before I updated my Ipod.

It seems to be a but. The Touch Users Guide (iOS 4.1) says:
When you make a playlist and then sync iPod touch to your computer, the playlist is
    synced to your iTunes library.
When you edit a playlist and then sync iPod touch to your computer, the playlist is
    synced to your iTunes library.

  • Classic says its only connected when supposedly syncing, any help?

Alright, so I have seen many posts with similar problems as me but i have yet to find a solution. When I try to sync my music from my computer to the ipod, it seems to work but with much trouble (many times throughout the sync my ipod will have the "connected" screen when itunes is clearly still syncing music). Sometimes the sync will work correctly, however most the time it won't. When it doesn't work everything seems to be ok until I disconnect my ipod and find that it has 0 songs on it...very frustrating indeed. I then try to reconnect the ipod and re-sync it just to have itunes tell me that it cannot read my ipod because it is corrupted. I restore it like it tells me to only to have the same thing happen over and over again.
I have tried numerous solutions including: restoring my ipod several times, uninstalling itunes and reinstalling the latest version (7.7.1.11 if anyone's curious), changing the drive letter that my ipod is under (now S), updating my usb port, trying a different port and fun stuff like that.
Can anyone help me? I have seen many posts with similar problems and it seems that apple isn't going to do a darn thing, so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sean

You may know the following, but let's try and cover all bases:

If it says "connected" it can still be (and probably is) Syncing. Are you disconnecting the iPod before you see the message at the top of the iTunes window saying "Sync is complete" ? Also, when you do disconnect, are you using the eject button in iTunes? You should! Once you eject (it's the button at the bottom right of the iTunes Summary screen) wait for both the iPod screen to display the Main Menu and iTunes to close the Summary Screen window and switch to your library because sometimes it will perform a quick Sync after you click eject. I don't know why, or what exactly it's doing, but I let it do it.
    0 songs on it...
If you are correctly doing the above, have you selected the correct options on the Summary tab to put your music on the iPod? (That would explain why there is no music on it.)
... changing the drive letter that my ipod is under (now S),
You should not need to look at the drive letter, it should not be visible unless you have chosen "put iPod in disk mode", which is used to transfer data, not your playable music.

  • ITunes is making copies of playlists when I sync products

Whenever I sync my iPhone 4 (latest software on both the iPhone and iTunes) and I've made changes to playlists, iTunes creates a separate playlist (ex. cool & cool 1) rather than making the changes to the original.  Then it syncs BOTH copies to my device.  Then I have to go back and delete the one I no longer want and resync the device again...very annoying.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

I have solved this problem! I don't know if it is the easiest way to do it, but I restored my iPhone to its factory settings and then used back-up data to keep all my original stuff. It took a while but now all my songs sync in the right playlists! I still have no clue why this works or why this problem started in the first place...

I have unistalled itunes twice and even gone back to version 9 but still same problem.\

Which setting in Photoshop do you refer to?

  • My books are showing in my itunes but not on my ipad even with syncing! Help please?

I have about 400 books on my itunes account, they were on my ipad but now they are not! They show that they are taking up memory on my ipad on itunes but they are not there. I've synced numerous times but to no avail. Any suggestions??

First, just to rule it out, make sure you have the same color settings. The really important thing is to have Color Management Policies set to "preserve embedded profiles". With this setting, the embedded document profile (whatever it is) will be correctly handled and displayed on both systems.
But I'm more inclined to think you have a broken display profile on your work machine, especially if only Photoshop seems affected. Photoshop is likely the only application that actually uses the display profile.
All this assuming you don't have a wide gamut monitor, which changes the playing field a bit.
Anyway. To test the display profile, set sRGB IEC 61966-2.1 as display profile in Control Panel > Color Manangement > Devices (Adobe RGB if wide gamut monitor). Relaunch Photoshop so that it can pick up the new profile at startup.
Do this on both machines. If they now display more or less the same, that's definitive confirmation. The real fix is to make a new profile with a calibrator, but if you don't have one, just use sRGB until you do.

    Hello audreywisc,
Songs can be removed from your iPhone by tapping 'Songs,' then swiping the song, then tapping Delete.
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

  • How do I delete songs from my playlist

how do I delete songs from my playlist on itunes?

If it's a "Smart Playlist," you have to alter the conditions which were placed when it was created. To do this, on the left-hand panel, right click on the playlist and click "Edit Smart Playlist" and there, you can change the conditions that the playlist has. However, if it was a normal playlist that you created yourself by dragging songs into it, simply just select the song and hit the delete key on your keyboard

    Hi Dennis!
I have a couple of steps for you to try in order to get those songs transferred to your iPod touch. First, make sure all of your software is updated with the latest versions. If the songs were downloaded from iTunes, you will also want to delete the songs from your library and then download them again from the list of past purchases on your iTunes account. An article about doing that can be found here:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
If you try a sync after those two steps and are still seeing the issue, then I would like you to try syncing the iPod by setting it to manually manage. An article outlining more information on manually managing your iPod sync can be found here:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
If you are still having issues after that, I have another article that can outline some other reasons why your songs may not transfer to your iPod, and it can be found here:
Some songs in iTunes won't copy to iPod

  • How can I bulk delete songs from the playlist, if original file could not be found.

I deleted the original files from the Library iTines. The songs are still in the playlist. How can I bulk delete songs from the playlist, if original file could not be found. Thank.

Take a look at my FindTracks script. Download it and test it out on a few tracks first. Use the No option first time around to manually confirm each path that it wants to fix so you can see how it works. When you're happy it does what you want select a larger group of tracks to process automatically.

  • Syncing Iphone computer doesn't work. deletes songs added to playlist on phone.

no matter what I try to do, iTunes continues to ruin all of my hard work. I create playlists on my computer, but I often add songs through my phone. when I sync my phone to my computer after adding a bunch of songs, the computer thinks the playlist should not have the songs I added on it, so it removes the songs or renames the playlist as Favorites 1 or Favorites 2. it is a really big pain and I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how to connect the playlists to the cloud so that whenever I make a change on one device, it automatically changes it on my laptop and iPad. Thank you.

    Hello WEDimagineer,
You may want to consider subscribing to iTunes Match as that will have the ability to sync your playlists. I will say that it does cost money if you want to do this and it is a year fee of $24.99. Take a look at the article below to see if this will be what you are looking for.

  • HT204302 iTunes deleted all of my playlists!

iTunes deleted all of my playlists. Booted up and they had vanished

If you didn't backup your playlists they can't be retrieved if they are deleted, you have to recreated them: iTunes: How to backup and restore playlists
However you could check to see if your original library still exists. Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file
