Itunes deletes songs on my playlists

I am getting sick and tired of this. I just updated my Ipod Touch to version 4.1, and when it updated it it deleted my songs and playlists. I had no problem putting my songs on, but making the playlists is becoming a pain. Whenever I make a playlist on my Ipod, and then when I connect it to Itunes, Itunes deletes the playlists. When I make a playlist on Itunes, however, It stays on the Ipod. But when I add songs to it, when i connect it to Itunes it deletes my songs in the playlist. The only way to add songs to a playlist is on Itunes. Please help me with this, I had no problem with this before I updated my Ipod.

It seems to be a but. The Touch Users Guide (iOS 4.1) says:
When you make a playlist and then sync iPod touch to your computer, the playlist is
synced to your iTunes library.
When you edit a playlist and then sync iPod touch to your computer, the playlist is
synced to your iTunes library.

  • Itunes deletes songs in my playlist when I sync, any help please

When I sync my music to my iphone 4s the playlist comes up with 1 song out of 7 in it, and when I make it on my phone the minute I sync it to my mac it leaves just that 1 song. Any help?

How did you clean up the duplicates? A playlist is an ordered list of references to tracks in iTunes. If you had duplicates in the library you may have added one version of a track to one playlist and the duplicate to a different list. When you remove the duplicate only the first list contains a reference to the song.
I have a script which would have eliminated duplicates while preserving playlist membership, and merging ratings, play & skip counts etc. More here: Re: When I delete duplicates how do I know which version is the original song and which is the duplicate? If restoring the playlists is important you may be able to restore a previous version of your main iTunes library, itl file that still has the uncorrupted playlists using the techniques in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash and then run my script to dedupe. If you've updated iTunes regularly however, and don't have some other backup of the .itl, your most recent file is likely to be from last October.

  • How do I delete songs from my playlist

how do I delete songs from my playlist on itunes?

If it's a "Smart Playlist," you have to alter the conditions which were placed when it was created. To do this, on the left-hand panel, right click on the playlist and click "Edit Smart Playlist" and there, you can change the conditions that the playlist has. However, if it was a normal playlist that you created yourself by dragging songs into it, simply just select the song and hit the delete key on your keyboard

  • How can I bulk delete songs from the playlist, if original file could not be found.

I deleted the original files from the Library iTines. The songs are still in the playlist. How can I bulk delete songs from the playlist, if original file could not be found. Thank.

Take a look at my FindTracks script. Download it and test it out on a few tracks first. Use the No option first time around to manually confirm each path that it wants to fix so you can see how it works. When you're happy it does what you want select a larger group of tracks to process automatically.

  • HT204302 iTunes deleted all of my playlists!

iTunes deleted all of my playlists. Booted up and they had vanished

If you didn't backup your playlists they can't be retrieved if they are deleted, you have to recreated them: iTunes: How to backup and restore playlists
However you could check to see if your original library still exists. Try holding down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to an existing one. The default location for your iTunes library is in C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ (or C:\Username\Music\iTunes\ in Vista). Look in there and see if you have more than one library file (they have the extension .itl) If you have more than one try opening them in turn, you may find your original library is still intact: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file

  • Delete songs from a playlist folder?

I am trying to delete some songs from a playlist folder. Songs won't delete from any folder, regardless of whether i am in itunes 10 or the newly installed itunes 12. The delete function is greyed out. In playlists, yeah I can delete songs. But in folders, no deletion capability. What am I doing wrong?
    thx
    John

A playlist folder shows the union of all of the tracks in its component playlists and/or playlist folders. To remove a track from a playlist folder it must be removed from any contained playlist where it appears.

  • How do I delete songs from my playlist that I don't want and didn't download

I have 5 songs on my playlist for iTunes that I did not download and don't want them, but don't know how to delete. Tried swiping from left to right but when I push delete I just get the cloud. Does anyone know how to get rid of these from my playlist?

    Hello nothappy14,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when trying to delete a song.  The cloud icon to the right of the song indicates the song is being streamed from iTunes in the Cloud and not actually on your device.  Because they are not on your device, they can't be deleted, but you can choose to hide these songs so that they don't appear on your iPhone.
You can hide the song by accessing the iTunes Store on the computer:
    To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."

You will need to quit and relaunch the Music app on your iPhone after hiding the purchase on your computer before seeing the changes.  Close the Music app using the following steps:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
iOS: Force an app to close

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Spotify has started deleting songs from my playlists

Hi,Recently spotify has started deleting the first few songs of some of my long playlists. Has anyone else had this? Any idea why? Also it's started to repeat play on some playlists (ie when you get to the bottom of a playlist instead of stopping it starts again at the beginning), which it never used to do.Thanks

I sync by playlist and the playlist in my iphone matches the playlist in my itunes. If I delete a song from the playlist in itunes, the next time I sync the song gone from iphone as well.

  • My iPhone is (seemingly randomly) deleting songs from my playlists. How do I get it to stop?

I don't know why it's happening, but it's really annoying. My first one was a 3GS, and I had made a playlist for all the songs in one CD, because i'd gotten a single and then the rest of the CD once it actually came out, and even though iTunes counted the single in completing the album they wouldn't play together without the other albums by the artist. It would work fine while i was listening to it, and then when i would leave Music for a while, usually at most a day, some of the songs would be missing! They weren't in much of an order, and both times i paid much attention to whether they were the same, a couple of songs had vanished one time and not the other, so it wasn't the same songs leaving the playlist every time. Now I'm on a 4S, and it's doing the same thing with a different playlist, which has my Purchased songs and one other one.. Both times it's done it there have only been 3 songs left, the first one the same and i think the second one, and the third one different. Normally there are 8 songs in the playlist. The first time, it was only one day after i made the playlist, and the second time it was a few days after i repaired the playlist. Both playlists mentioned were made on my iPhone, not in iTunes.
My phone is not 100% up to date, there was a new update since November, and I don't know if there's a fix there, but I don't want to download the update in case I have to put my songs back on my phone, because some of my favorites have stopped working properly in iTunes. If anyone knows a) whether the update(s) have a fix for this, or b) whether songs I've bought since the Cloud became a thing will be damaged on my iPhone if they're damaged in iTunes, I would appreciate it.

    Turn off repeat.
This is covered in the manual.
iPhone User Guide (For iOS 4.2 and 4.3 Software)
Play the song, tap the screen, tap the repeat icon until it is white= off.

  • Deleting Songs From Within Playlists Instead of Library

Does anyone know how to delete songs while viewing within a playlist (as opposed to the library)? Or is this not possible?

Use shift+delete, that should do the trick.

  • How can I make iTunes delete songs again?

When I fist used iTunes and I pressed "delete" it asked me if I wanted to physically delete the file.
I said no and checked the box for never asking me again because I had a bad day.
But now I would like that function back and I can't find how!
I read I must delete the preferences, but either I don't know how or where they are (I tried to search for them in various Itunes folders, but nothing popped ;__;)
I searched the faq too, but there is no answer to this.
What I must do? Is there something I'm completly missing that would make this question (and me) silly? __)/

    Resetting the iTunes Preference Files:
May need to make hidden files visible
    My Documents>Tools>Folder Options>View
Check Show hidden files and folders
    -- Quit iTunes
    -- Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref and/or iTunesPrefs.xml
    -- Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer Inc\iTunes.pref and/or iTunesPrefs.xml

  • Itunes deletes song titles

I have several midi files that i have imported to my itunes and when i play them itunes deletes the name and retitles them as 'untitled' so every time i play them i have to rename them. how do i fix this?!

Normally, iTunes does not modify titles.  Sometimes the problem is caused by another program on your computer.  In particular, go into Windows Media Player, and on the Library tab, and make sure that all those funny options like "Rename music file using rip settings" are all not checked.
