ITunes deleting photos off of iDevice even when lots of space is available

I have been running into the following situation since I got my first iPhone.
Lets say I have a GB free on my 34 GB iPhone. This consists of a bunch of music/videos/apps, and about 800 MB of pictures. I then sync a 600 MB video to the device and rather then syncing and telling me I have 400 MB free, it deletes a large chunk of my pictures and I end up with about 700 MB free.
I recently purchased a 64 GB iPad, and it does the same thing.
The magic numbers seem to be about 500 MB on the iPhone and 750 MB on the iPad. If I go below that much free space, it starts deleting pictures.
Does anyone know why iTunes is doing this, and is there some way to make it stop? I can understand the logic of keeping some free space, but I would think something like 100 MB would be more then enough.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Michael

iTunes is the worst piece of grabage Apple ever came up with. Whether it's on Mac or PC.
I am a classical music collector, I have tons of pre CD recordings I had imported into iTunes, I don't listen to them all the time. Recently I just found out 99% of my collection is gone, mysteriously deleted from my music folder. This is not the first time it happened. I have not able to find out what caused it, certainly not me deleted the music and I don't use any other music program to play my music.. If iTunes could not find the music, what give Apple the right to delete it from my harddrive? When I said it deleted, I meant the actual music file that was deleted from my harddrive, not just the database. Apple and the iTunes idiotic software engneers REALLY, REALLY, REALLY ****** ME OFF!!!!

  • C902 / Media Go and deleting photos off the phone

I have just downloaded the latest version of the PC Companion onto my computer, so far so good. Is there someone out there who can explain in the most simplistic terms how to delete photos off the phone. When I installed PC companion it put over 400 pictures onto the phone somewhere automatically- and I want them off!  I cannot understand the instructions on the media go programme about how to edit/delete photos; clearly the instructions are not meant to be understood by us who have little computer/phone knowledge.
I am currently deleting each picture one at a time, very frustrating I can tell you.
    Any help is much appreciated

It's on the phone: Main menu--Organiser(or My Stuff)--File manager--click right/left for Phone memory/memory card--Camera album or Pictures--Open--Options--Mark--Mark All or Mark Several--Mark the pics you want--Options--Delete

  • After loading my photos from my iPhone to my mac iPhotos it prompts me to delete photos from my iPhone.  When I agree to this my photos never delete.  my iPhone is out of storage due to I can't delete photos.  What am I doing wrong?

After loading my photos from my iphone to my mac iphoto it gives me the option to delete photos on my phone.  When I click to delete the photos do not delete from my phone.  I am out of storage due to I can not delete photos from my iphone.

That problem is probably with your iPhone and not with iPhoto.
But try to download again to your Mac, this time use "Image Capture" instead of iPhoto.
Launch Image Capture from your applications folder.
Connect your phone to a USB port.
Select all the photos in your camera roll  to be deleted.
    Then press the "delete" key.
If there are photos on your iPhone that have been synced with iTunes, they can only be deleted by syncing again and deselecting the albums:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
If even Image Capture cannot wipe your Camera Roll, you need to trouble shoot your iPhone. Try the three R's, reset, restart, restore. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281

  • Deleting photos off iphone

i have recently purchased a iphone 3g and i have added my music and pictures to it. i have sinced realised that there is a photo album that i dont want on my phone and am wondering how to delete it. i have plugged my phone into itunes and tryed everything possible but there just doesnt seem to be a delete album button. can someone help.

That really didn't answer the question. I had the original iphone and now the 3gs and had no problems until one of the last updates. It's like the 4 ruined it for us simplistic users. Now, your phone has "Albums" on it instead of the plain, old camera roll. That would be fine if it were user friendly.
If you go to the information tabs and choose which photos (from your mac) you want to sync and choose an empty foler, the duplicate albums finally delete on the device. However, even if you do this and you are only left with the camera roll on the device, you can't delete the pics anymore. The bottom of the screen has only two tabs - albums & places (who really cares about places?!?). The top tabs has Albums and send. The phone used to have a trash can, a send (box w/arrow) and one other choice I can't recall. What happened. I would like to delete photos from the device as I go. How do I get the old screen or how do I delete photos off the device now?

  • Deleting photos off of ipod?

How can i delete photos off my ipod? I can't seem to figure it out. Please help!

Connect your iPod to your computer. When it appears in iTunes go to edit-->preferences. Click the iPod tab, then the photos tab under that. Uncheck "Syncronize photos from..." Click OK. All photos will now be deleted off of your iPod.
To delete certain photos, you can remove them from the folder pictures are being updated from.
I have my photo library organized on my computer, and didn't want to change it for the iPod. So, I created a folder called "iPod Pics." Under the photo preferences for the iPod, I told iTunes to sync from there. I just put in and remove photos that I want for my iPod there. This way, I don't need to edit the My Pictures folder just for my iPod.

  • I cannot delete photos off my iphone 5s

I want to delete photos off of my iphone.  I've read several articles but the trash icon in the bottom right screen of the phone is shaded out, even after I select photos.  I have no idea why and cannot figure out how to delete photos. Any ideas?

    What photos?
Photos synced to the iphone from your computer, are removed the same way.
Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want to be on your iphone, sync.

  • HT201317 Do I delete photos off my Macbook so their deleted off my iPhone or do i delete them off of my iPhone so they are deleted off my Macbook? SO confused.

Do I delete photos off of my events or photos on my Macbook so they're deleted off my iPhone
    OR
Do I delete photos off of my iPhone so they are deleted off my iPhoto on my Macbook? I'm SO confused.
I just want to delete the photos and not have them come up again when I plug my phone in.
I also don't want duplicates of my photos.

iPhoto sees your phone as a digital camera and offers to import any photos it finds in your camera roll, and only if you click the Import button in iPhoto.  If you don't want to import photos, don't connect the phone to iPhoto.  If you want to transfer photos from iPhoto to your phone, do that from the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and sync.  If iPhoto is automaticallly opening when you connect your phone, go to iPhoto>Preferences>General and choose "No application" from the drop-down list next to "Connecting camera opens:".
Or are you talking about photo stream photos?

  • How do I delete photos off of my iphone

How do I delete photos off of my iphone?

I sync any photos you synced there from your computer.  You can delete camera roll photos when you see the thumbnails by tapping edit and then ticking the photos you want gone and then tap delete.  You can delete photos in settings/general/usage/photos and camera swipe across camera roll and then tap delete to delete everything in the camera roll.  You can do the same for photo library and photo stream if you want them all gone

To delete synced photos and videos
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.

There are two methods to delete items from the Camera Roll:
Import the Camera Roll to your computer, choosing to delete items after import.
    or
Delete photos and videos from your device manually. Open the Photos application, open the Camera Roll, tap the Action button, tap each photo to select it, and tap the Delete button.
Note: For photos and videos you want to save for later, import them to your computer before deleting them from the Camera Roll.

It's too late. If you had been syncing your phone with that computer prior to the screen failing, it wouldn't be asking you for a passcode...

  • Kid deleted photos off photo stream on phone, can I recover them?

My kid accidentally deleted photos off my photo stream on phone, thus all my devices, can they be recovered?

They should still be in the camera roll of the originating device.  Have you looked there?  Also, photos should always be synced to a computer for archiving (either by wired connection or photo stream) and then moved from the photo stream album and into a permanent album.  If you've done that, then check that computer.
