Itunes deleting purchased songs

For some reason itunes has started to move my purchased (itunes store) songs to my PC recycle bin. I don't know if this is realated but it started happening after I began to download and load more podcasts onto my ipod. Does anyone know what the problem is??

I don't know why Apple defenders make this so complicated. There are literally youtube videos out there of iTunes deleting music/video files. I have had it happen so many times that I stopped using iTunes and Apple's media service all together.
iTunes, not some other windows application as I have seen here, is deleting files. I have seen iTunes crash when trying to open a music/video file and have seen it disappear from an open Finder window. And for the record I have never had Window Media Player ever delete a file from my PC.
I have also noticed my non-purchased music disappearing slowly over time especially each time iTunes loses connection with my NAS, don't ask me how a mac running 24/7 connected to a network via an ethernet cable can lose connection to a NAS that is just an apple thing my Windows machines have no issue, several non-purchased deletions occur.
I think Apple has a serious code issue on their hands, application crashing should never cause data loss, but we will see if they are more interested in defending apple's reputation or taking care of their customers.

  • ITunes deleted my songs from my HARD DRIVE!

iTunes not only has deleted a few files from my library, but it ALSO deleted songs off my hard drive!
I thought, "Well, maybe they just got moved around somehow." But, I thought about how much I go into my iTunes folder and then it dawned on me that I hadn't done that in about a month or so. The deleting thing started happening about a week ago. It's a few songs a day. Seriously. *?
I feel like if I'm spending several thousand dollars on Apple's products (computers, accessories, and music), Apple needs to be a little more appreciative.
If it's a bug in the new iTunes, then Apple needs to be sensitive to the fact that music is LOST permanently! It's frustrating to think about all the music that I've lost and PAID for. If I'm using the iTunes store and iTunes to buy/play music, then Apple needs to come out and apologize and reimburse for what was lost.
I can understand why some of you are frustrated that iTunes is deleting songs from your library, but is there anyone else who is having music deleted from their hard drive?

I'm a bit upset, too. It's only deleted one song, but why did that random song go, and when will it happen to 100s of them?
I have the song on CD and can re-rip it, but that's not the point - it shouldn't go missing from the hard drive.
I've aleady resigned myself to backing up the ITL library file on a regular basis in case it gets mysteriously corrupted.
I'm not sure iTunes deleted this song, but it sure is suspicious.

  • Hi.Have organized all my songs in itunes ,deleted unwanted songs and anupdated the album artwork but it has not changed them in my itunes media folder location in the C drive. How do i change this and back them up now i have everything the way i want it ?

    Hi
-I have organized all my songs in iTunes ,deleted unwanted songs and updated the album artwork but it has not changed them in my iTunes media folder location in my C Drive.
How do I update it there so it is the same as my iTunes now so i can back it all up?
    Thankyou.

I solved my problem. Here's how:
    1. Right click iTunes and click properties from the "Windows 8 Desktop" (or if you want to call it the 7 desktop thats fine too)
    2. Select the compatibility tab.
    3. Set compatibility mode to Windows 7 and click apply.
    4. Open iTunes, sign into iTunes store, Turn on iTunes Match, Add your computer.
    5. Close Program
    6. Restart Computer

  • ITunes deleting/losing songs

I have read some topics, but they don't appear to apply to my actual problem.
Does iTunes delete unplayed songs? Because it seems like every so often songs I haven't played appear to disappear. And I don't see them in my HD folder. Can anyone help me find them or explain how to stop it?

    Hey everyone,
I have noticed the exact same thing as ccpickre above, lots of poeple have posted that itunes has lost track of songs that still exist in the library folder. I still get the "original file could not be found" message and little exclamation mark, but itunes is **** right because I can't find it using spotlight either, its gone from the library!
I don't believe that itunes would delete old songs, not even if your hard disk was full. Ccpickre , have you copied your library from another HD at some point? When I got my new mac I simply copied the library and library file from the old to the new. The songs that are going missing cannot all have been missing since before I copied, though, because more and more are being lost. I also tend only to get the message when I sync my ipod, itunes says "some songs, including xxx could not be copied to your ipod because they could not be found", yet xxx tends to change, indicating that more and more are being lost. All a bit odd
The fact remains, however, that they are all songs I have not played for some time... Much as I'd like not to lose them, I can't be arsed to listen to all 10 days of music just to bring their play counts up to date!! Any other suggestions?!
    Cheers,
    Tim

  • ITunes Deleted My Songs w/o Me Telling it To!

I downloaded an album by Good Charlotte off of iTunes. While it was loading, I deleted a few playlists, then created a new one, into which I moved the album and some other songs. I realized that some of my songs and albums weren't there, so I closed out of iTunes and reopened it. This time those songs were there, but the Good Charlotte album wasn't, plus it had reset everthing to before I deleted the playlists! HELP! X0

If it did, we would all still be on iTunes 1.0.

  • Is it possible to sync and share iTunes (specifically purchases, songs, playlists) with 2 computers having their own apple id? ,movies

Is it possible to sync, combine and share iTunes (specifically purchases, songs, playlists) with 2 computers having their own apple id?
I have been trying to find the answer to this for awhile now.

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

  • Is there a way to PERMANENTLY DELETE purchased songs from your iTunes/iTunes account

    Hi
I have 11 purchased songs in my iTunes library. Since iOS7 i have not been able to remove these songs from my 3rd party music player.
I would like to permanently remove these songs from my iTunes account, my iTunes, my iPhone. I don't want to see these songs appear on any of my devices ever again.
Is there a way to remove these purchases permanently so they are no longer available/associated with my account?
Please! Any help is appreciated, this is seriously annoying.

Turning off iCloud will not accomplish anything, unless you simply wish to sign out your AppleID for itunes adn app store. Then of course, you would not be able to purchase apps or other content.
Any itunes or App store purchases can be set to hidden, as ckuan instructs. These would not show up on your device. But no, there is not way to completely delete content purchases.
You can offer Apple feedback here, if you wish: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Deleted purchased songs on itunes?

All my past purchased songs show up and are availbale for me to re-download if i wish so, but how do i permently get rid of these been shown or listed so i cannot redownload them again?

You can't currently permanently delete any items from your purchase history, all you can do is hide them so that they are less visible : hiding and unhiding. If you on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch with iOS 6 on it then you will need to do it via your computer's iTunes, hiding items doesn't currently work on iOS 6.

  • Upgrade iTunes, lost purchased songs

Recently, I upgraded iTunes (10.1.1.4). The first sync after upgrading, I was prompted to replace the library(?) on the phone. The old library(?) was backed up before the upgraded library was installed. But now, all my purchased songs are gone. I've searched my computer, but no luck. I've never lost files on my computer.
    -Could they be hidden?

Possibly, but an itunes update has never deleted my music or purchases, and it's not supposed to.
They might also be in the itunes library, but just not listed in the "Purchased" playlists.
Try this, get the copy of your itunes database file from before the upgrade. iTunes puts it in a folder named Previous iTunes Libraries. Follow these steps but in #7, copy & paste that file instead of dragging it.

  • I can't delete purchased songs with the new IOS 7

I recently updated my iphone 4 to the new IOS 7 and when i went to my music all of my old purchases are in my library and it is taking up a lot of space. I tried to just slide to the left to delete them but it wouldn't allow me to. I've tried everything to delete these songs including disabling icloud on my phone. These songs aren't even in my itunes library but they are synced to my phone. Someone please help.

Updating to any iOS version does not magically make media appear on the device.  For what reason do you believe this is the case?  Do you possibly have iTunes Match turned on?

  • ITunes removing purchased songs

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I'v noticed the same error messages that others have recently, the one that states I dont have enough privelages and the second saying that iTunes has encountered an error when downloading which I figured was something to do with my computer, obviously this isn't the case. I'v also noticed that songs I have purchased and downloaded are also disappearing a few days after purchase. It originally happened with the new xfactor song, I contacted iTunes and they re-imbursed me for it but its now happened to two more songs I have purchased in the last few weeks. The files extenetions are still there (e.g. Music>iTunes Music>Nickelback>All the Right Reasons) but the song file itself is gone without it being deleted. Is anyone else having this issue? or does anyone know how to fix it?

Have done - and it syncs these playlists just fine. However, it also leaves and purchased songs on my iPhone and puts them back if I delete them on the device itself (swipe and delete in the 'Music' app).

  • Deleting Purchased Songs

Around Christmas, I purchased a bunch of songs that I don't want taking up space on my iPad throughout the year. I plugged in the iPad to my computer (as I normally do to back up/transfer), selected the iPad on the left pane, then went into the "Music" tab at top and made sure NONE of these songs were checked off either by Artist, Title, Compilation, Album, etc., yet they are STILL showing up on my iPad.
I also tried deleting them from off the iPad but they still show up.

OK. I FINALLY found the way to delete the songs. See, the problem was that even though I'd delete the songs from the computer's iTunes list, and because they were still on my iPad, they'd come right back when I'd sync.
    Then I found this:
    http://apple-ipad-tablet-help.blogspot.com/2010/03/how-to-delete-songs-from-ipad -itunes.html
A simple swipe across each song in the list (on the iPad) brings up a red Delete option.
    Whew.

  • Cannot play iTunes store purchased songs when offline.

Yesterday my cable was out for several hours and the iTunes for Windows XP said it was unable to play my purchased songs from the iTunes music store which I've had on my computer for months now because the iTunes account had to be activated. When the cable internet came back on it worked fine. What is the problem with playing my purchased music offline? I've paid for it!

I am trying to use my Apple TV on a boat and do not want to take my computer with me.
Apple TV is not connected to the internet.
I had this working briefly then it stopped with the upgrade to the iPad software.
Apple had me exchange the original ATV thinking it was a hardware issue but now the video will not open.
Airplay will play music from my iPad or iPhone thru the ATV.
When I go to play a slide show from the iPad of albums I have synced the ATV shows 3 slides real fast and then crashes.
