ITunes destroys Windows 7 on HP Laptop NX9420
Hi,
I repeatedly destroyed my fresh Windows 7 installation on my HP NX9420 Laptop computer after installing iTunes.
* I install a fresh Windows 7 OS (no upgrade, format+install)
* I run windows update and install the critical updates
* I install MS Security Essentials
* Install Office 2007
-- Everything runs fine! No problems
* In install Itunes - it runs fine
* I shut down my PC and start it later
* Windows will not start it goes into “Startup Repair” but is not possible to solve the problem.
It is also not possible to go back to a previous restore point.
Reinstalling Windows 7 seems the only way to get my laptop working again..
I can repeat this situation, everytime the problem starts after having installed iTunes.
I found only one link on the internet with same symptoms:
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?message.uid=99807
3rd message in the thread by Ewong – he has a similar problem with the HP NX9420 only for him there is no iTunes involved
Well hope someone can help me with the cause? Windows 7? iTunes ? HP drivers ?
Im lost… using my laptop without iTunes at the moment and that runs fine!
It's certainly unusual. I've seen something reported here once before, but that was on a Vista box.
Have you tried running an sfc /scannow on the PC?
[How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833]
Does the scannow report it can't repair some files? If so, which files are they?

I upgraded to iTunes for windows on my Windows 8.1 64 bit laptop. I have not done any iTunes manipulations for many months. I just purchased a new song. I now have IOS 8.1.3 on my iPad Mini and I tried to move the new song from my library from my purchased file to a playlist. I can no longer click and drag the song from anything to the playlist. In addition, when I sync my iPad to my laptop none of my music from the iPad shows up in iTunes on the computer. Why does Apple continuously mess around with the simple actions of the program. It is very disheartening to be treated like this as a long time customer. This has happened so many times that I am getting the feeling that they seem to enjoy screwing up the users ability to use the program
Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac". Write down what it says about "version"and report that here. Now continue to "More Info..." Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
Check system requirements:
Snow Leopard 10.6 Technical Requirements - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The main issue might be having too little RAM. Most computers run newer systems more smoothly with more RAM than Apple says is a "minimum" for running that system version
After installing 10.6.3 run the updater to 10.6.8, then upgrade iTunes.

The new system should install on top of the old one. That said, things have been known to go wrong and it makes sense to do a backup before installing the new system. In fact you seem to care about your files and things so you need to always have a backup because one day you will wake up and you hard drive will be dead and everrything on it gone. Buy an external hard drive and start using Time Machine or something to back up. The other risk is when you install the new iTunes. It doesn't happen frequently given the millions of users but there are daily posts here from people who for some reason the installation wiped out their whole library. If you have a backup then there's nothing to worry about.
This is well within what many people can do at home. It's a matter of inserting an optical disc and clicking you way through menus. -
10.5.2 iTunes on Windows 7 x64 bit laptop - Quick Time will play videos but not iTunes
I'm hoping you can help, I've looked for a solution to this for a while now.
I store my itunes library on an external hard drive. I completed a clean install of x64 bit Windows 7 on my laptop - all went perfectly. Downloaded and installed the 64 bit version of 10.5.2 iTunes and located my library...the music plays fine but no videos. I opened iTunes in safe mode and it said that I needed the up to date version of Quick Time. Downloaded and installed that...no problems. Now my vidoes will play in the Quick Player but still not in iTunes! They apprear in the "Now Playing" pane but the timer doesn't move - even after pressing pause and play. Can anyone help me please? Do I need to open iTunes in 32 bit mode? If so, how do I do that in Windows 7? i can only find solutions for Mac's....
Thanks in advanceI should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

Download Problems for windows 8 64 bit laptop
Why does Apple make it almost impossible to download iTunes for Windows 8 64 bit laptop? Is there a link that works?
Hi there James,
You can download iTunes from one of a couple places. Here is the first place:
Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now
If for some reason that is not downloading the correct version, you can download the file for Windows 8 64 bit here:
iTunes 12.0.1 for Windows (64-bit)
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,

Hi, I've an iPad Mini with the latest version 6.0.2, a windows 7 Home Premium laptop and iTunes 11.0.1 (12), but I can't synchronize my music or videos with it. I managed to syncronize my books but thats all.
I also have an iphone 5 and everything seems to work fine with it.
I see all movies and music available to be sync but when I click on the sync button, the process starts, the bottom bar shows an increase in consumed space then nothing happens and the bar goes back as nothing was added.
Please help..
I have tried everything but nothing works. Thanks Sk8dreams,
....but I wish I could have lol like u right now..
If I could get a free iPad everything I'd already kept my iPad connected and restarted iTunes, I think I'd have had a truckload of them by now...
I've done all of these..
Like I said earlier I syncd everything to my iphone5 successfully...
I got my PDF ebooks to this same iPad... Films & Music do not seem to be getting through..
I'm sure someone out there knows what to do.. -

have a iphone 4. i have downloaded the latest version of itunes to update the ios. I am having problems with the back up and sync and also the update. the update error message is coming up saying it cannot connect to the iphone update server. I am useing a windows 7 32 bit laptop. I have also reset my phone to factory settings. Would taking it to one of the stores and they would do it for me??
any help will be great thank youAll I can tell you is that I am having the exact same problem with an iPod Touch and that I was running iTunes 9.2.1.5 at the time it happened. Upgraded to 10.0.0.68 hoping that it might help, but no joy.
I don't want to do a restore just now since the Touch seems to be working fine. Restore will have to wait until I have plenty of free time in case something goes wrong. -
My new ipod touch is not recognised in itunes or Windows 7 on any of my computers/laptops. I've followed the online advice and still no luck. Help much appreciated!
Does it charge?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Try another cable
- Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.
