ITunes detecting iPod

I, unlike otheres here, have no problems with iTunes detecting my iPod. My problem is just a matter of convenience. Basically I enter iTunes and rip a couple of my CDs, fine, I then add album art and perhaps change some of the info to my tastes, or repair any mistakes that the automatic song namer did. Fine again. I then manually update the iPod. Ok. Then I click on the eject ipod symbol so I can check the albums out on the iPod itself. All looks good. Now I want to rip a couple more CD's. Fine again. But of course the iPod is now ejected. I cannot see the iPod in iTunes to allow me to update the iPod with the new music. For now all I do is quit iTunes, then start it up again to get it to detect the iPod once again. A bit annoying really. So is there a way to get iTunes to reload the iPod once it has been ejected? Some button I have missed (never read manuals) is what I'm looking for here.
Cheers

Unfortunately your method seems to be the only way to do it. I found an Apple script that does it but so far nothing similar for Windows. One of the forum's regular posters writes Java scripts for carrying out iTunes functions in Windows, you could leave a comment on his web page to see if anything exists: http://ottodestruct.com/blog/2005/10/20/itunes-javascripts/

Then when I plug the iPod back into my PC (Windows XP Pro) iTunes again errors the iPod is in revovery mode and will only let me go through the restore. I can't seem to get the loop to stop. I have even removed and reinstalled the iPod driver.

  • ITunes detects iPod...but doesn't put songs on iPod??

The songs won't update on my iPod...I googled and it said theres somewhere in iTunes where I can check "Automatically update songs on my iPod"....but I can't find it? Help?

Yes, I meant to post back earlier. Here's something else that we can try:
Under "Music" deselect the "Sync" option so as to manually manage your iPod's content, then click on the "Apply" button in the right-corner of the iTunes screen to save your changes.
Now, eject/disconnect your iPod from your computer.
Connect it again, and check to make sure that your changes were saved, then select the "Sync" option again (and deselect "Manually manage songs and videos" under the "Summary" tab), and click Apply.
Click on "Sync iPod" from the File menu if iTunes doesn't begin to start automatically syncing with your iPod.
After iTunes has auto synced all of the content to your iPod, be sure to eject your iPod from your computer if the iPod still says "Do Not Disconnect" after it has completed with syncing (that's usually because Disk Use is enabled). Then, disconnect it, and see if the music has sucessfully synced to the iPod or not.

  • Itunes gives me the message that it has detected an ipod in recovery mode, you must restore the ipod.  when I clikk the "restore" button the download begins and after 30 minutes, I get the original message that itunes detects an ipod in recovery mode.

iTunes gives me the message that it has detected an iPod in recovery mode and that I need to restore the factory settings.  When I click the "restore" button iTunes downloads the software.  This is a 30 minute process.  Once the download completes, I get the same message "iTunes detects an iPod in recovery mode....".  I'm running Windows Vista and ZoneAlarm security software.
I've tried this restore function multiple times and still get the same results.
I've also tried resetting the iPod by holding the wake/sleep button and the Home button at the same time.  The iPod turns on but shows the icons of a usb cable connecting to iTunes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This maybe yuor problem:

  • ITunes has detected iPod in recovery mode

Help. I am getting the following error when I plug my ipod into the desktop computer. It tells me "iTunes has detected iPod in recovery mode You must restore this iPod before it can be used with itunes." However I plug the same ipod into my laptop computer and it works just fine. It is 4 gig nano runnning version 1.3.1 ipod software. Both computers are running iTunes 7.

+It tells me "iTunes has detected iPod in recovery mode You must restore this iPod before it can be used with itunes." However I plug the same ipod into my laptop computer and it works just fine.+
If you're just getting that message on the desktop, I'd check for a Windows drive letter confusion on the desktop. There's troubleshooting advice on that possibility at the end of the following document:

  • My iPod Nano 7 was unplugged improperly, iTunes detects but does not identify  help?

My iPod Nano 7th generation was unplugged improperly and now I seem to have a whole host of problems.  Itunes detects it but does not identify it - sometimes (also post- improper unplug) it would be identified by iTunes, but it wouldn't sync properly.  The computer would scan and fix the ipod every time I plugged it in, but never found any problems.  Also, every time I plug it in I get a warning window that the device could work faster if I plugged it into a 2.0 USB port, which I have checked that my computer has, updated all of the "enhanced USB ports" and I've checked the Apple port and it's fine.  I have also tried all of the USB ports I have, the warning window pops up for all of them.  I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes, restarted my computer and my ipod numerous times.  Sometimes I get a warning window about missing files on my iPod, but I don't know how to fix that issue.
    Any suggestions???  THANKS!!!

Good thing because no one is anwering anything on this

  • ITunes detects iPhone over WiFi only when it's NOT connected to a power outlet

iTunes detects my iPhone over WiFi only if it's NOT connected to a power outlet, so if I try to sync it fails.

    Hi there argelle1!
I believe you will want to restore this iPod in order to resolve this issue, but there are some other troubleshooting steps you can try before that as well. Those steps can be found in this website:
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3474
Specifically, this is the section that refers to your issue:
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
