ITunes did not recognize my iPod today.  It did not show up on "My Computer" either.  I run Win7.

I followed the instructions verbatim on what to do in this situation.
They went as far as having me uninstall itunes and re-install.
Upon re-installing, now I get the iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by an earlier version.
The only thing that has changed since the last time I charged my iPod was the  new version of iTunes.
Now what do I do????  It told me the new installation was successful.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.

Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :(

  • ITunes Playlists Not Showing Up On Secondary Computer, Sharing The Same Apple ID

I'm trying to help a friend who has an old HP laptop that serves as her primary computer for all her music. She has synced this with her iPod. She then synced her iPod with her PC computer at work. Everything is working great, except on her work computer her playlists aren't showing up. What could be the reason for this?
I suggested iTunes Match may be the answer, but she's wondering if there's a way other than using this pay service. Please advise.
    Thank you.

Playlists are specific to the iTunes library on a computer.  Unless she has the same library (by which I do not mean the same music, but the same library.itl file and supporting files) each computer will have a unique library even if the media content is identical.
Usually if you sync a device to one computer and then plug it into a different computer it will want to wipe the device so it can sync to the other library.  The exception would be if you had exactly the same library on each computer, or they were sharing a library on a local network.
If you use manual syncing, you can sync items from more than one iTunes library to your iPod. (You can sync iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad with only one iTunes library.) When manually managing content, you can add content from multiple libraries to your iPod or iPad. Even when manually managing music, some content may be available from only one library at time. This includes all content on iPhone and video content on iPod and iPad. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12113  and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202

  • Itunes will not show up on my computer, no matter how many times I've downloaded it

I tried downloading Itunes 10.7, and it says "thank you for downloading itunes." and yet it is no where to be found on my computer.
I am using windows 7, 64 bit laptop, and it says that it is the 64 download...
I do not currently have any form of itunes downloaded onto my computer, and i just got my iphone,
so I am at a loss, I hope I can find some sort of help, this is frustrating.

    Restart your Mac, try again.
To give a specific album from the iTunes Store, go to the album page, click the arrow next to the Buy Album button, choose Gift This Album from the pop-up menu, and follow the onscreen instructions.
If restarting didn't help, launch iTunes. From the menu bar click Store / View My Account / Edit Payment Information.
Make sure your billing information is correct including the Security code and expiration date then click Done.
    Try again.

  • ITunes playlists not showing up in new computer

I use Idrive cloud storage to back up my hd.  Last week I got a new macbook pro and was able to restore my music, from my Idrive, to my new computer.  I then went into itunes and selected "add to library", then chose the itunes music folder I just downloaded.  All the music was imported, but I noticed I no longer have any of my playlists, also there are no songs in the "purchased" header in the sidebar.  What did I do wrong?  OSX10.9.1  iTunes 11.1.3 (8)

  • ITunes purchases not showing up on new computer

I recently switched to a new computer but none of my iTunes purchases are showing up in iTunes on my new computer. I thought I'd backed up everything but I guess it didn't work so now does that mean I have to repurchase all of my songs that are purchased through iTunes?
    Thank you

Yes, you probably will but then you simply load your backup.

  • ITunes REFUSES to recognize my iPod

I should probably start this post off by saying that I had NO issues whatsoever until my mother reformatted our computer last month. It's not an issue for her, because she can easily update her iPod at her office.
I have a second generation iPod that I love love love, my only issue is that now iTunes won't recognize my iPod. I'm not able to update anything. It shows up just fine in Windows, but that doesn't help me. Windows wont update my iPod for me.
I've done the 5R's more times than I can count, and iTunes will usually recognize my iPod by the fifth attempt. The catch is that, whenever iTunes finally accepts the iPod, it won't update. It will say it's updating and then I'll get an error message saying it wasn't able to connect.
My mother thinks our hard drive might be dying, does that have anything to do with it? I'm tearing my hair out over here and I know it's a terrible question to ask on the Apple board, but are there any other options I have to update my iPod with?
I'm going crazy here without being able to listen to it.

i have a 3rd generation ipod and my girlfriend has a 2G nano, both of which stopped being recognized by itunes immediately after i installed itunes 7.0.2 (shocking). After some research and playing around i did find a workaround. Plug your ipod in and wait for "Do Not Disconnect". Right click on My Computer and select manage. On the left hand side towards the bottom select Disk Management. Next you should see the name of your ipod in the middle section, right click on it and select Change Drive Letter and Path. Next Click the Add button and choose a drive letter not being used by your computer (Q usually is available) and press OK. Close the Computer Management window and open itunes, you should see you ipod and should be able to update it.
As far as I can tell, you have to do this each time you plug you ipod in, but it does work.
    Good Luck!

  • ITunes refuses to recognize current iPod software

    Hi all,
I had upgraded to the latest version of iTunes (7.1), but after a few weeks, it stopped loading completely. Instead, it began freezing 3/4 way through updating the library. I assume that during the upgrade, the iPod firmware was also upgraded.
I wasn't able to work my way around it, so I uninstalled ver. 7 and re-installed ver 6. Since then, iTunes opens perfectly (a relief).
Problem: iTunes refuses to recognize my iPod now, saying:
"The iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.0 or later."
Obviously, I was having trouble with 7.1 so that's not an option I'd like to explore. Suggestions would be appreciated.
