ITunes Disables My Internet On Vista 64-Bit

I don't know if anyone has ever heard of this issue, but let me detail this as much as I can, and see if anyone knows of a work around...
So I recently set up my girlfriend's network, with her ISP's modem and a Linksys wireless router (http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/WRT54GL). I set it up with wireless security (WPA-Personal). I connected to her wireless network with her computer, an HP laptop running Windows Vista 64-bit, my Acer Aspire One (ZG5) running Windows XP SP3, a Dell Inspiron 600m running Windows XP SP2 and my iPhone 3GS, with the 3.1.2 OS. All were able to access the internet flawlessly, with NO issues.
I then bought her a 5th Gen Nano. When I ordered it, I told her to start learning iTunes, so she downloaded it, and was looking around it. This is when the issues started...
She was still able to get online through IE, and she downloaded Windows Live Messenger. However, it would not connect for her.
She was e-mailing me later that night, and everything worked. However, the next day, she called me, informing me that the internet was now inaccessible...
I came over to check on the network, and my laptop connected to her network, but had a sketchy internet connection. Now, please don't misunderstand that, as I had a 5 bar, immensely strong and stable connection with her WiFi, as I was sitting right next to the router. When I used IE (and FireFox), I would be able to access Google about once every 5 attempts.
Her computer (the HP) could not connect at all. My iPhone seemed to be doing okay with the connection. I pinged Google and Yahoo! from the CMD Prompt, and was always given a reply each time.
I couldn't figure out what was going on, and she had been making a comment about wishing her computer was back to the way it was, so being that most Vista laptops (from what I've experienced) have recovery partitions on the HDD, I reformatted it and restored it to the "out of the box" defaults.
Everything worked good then. All devices were able to access the internet EVERY TIME attempted.
I then installed iTunes 9.0.1 again on her computer, and that's when the issues started again. Once everything was installed, it gave the network issues. I had internet issues (not CONNECTION issues with the router) with my laptop (the Acer). My iPhone was unable to access the internet from here, and I had to pop over to the 3G network.
To rule out ANY conflicting software, I pruned her computer and removed all unnecessary software that had been reinstalled through the reformat restore (trial burning software, trial ISP stuff, etc.). I could still not access the internet through any of the three devices. This time I had NO successful attempts, as I had last time.
However, here's the two things that really irritated me to no end. On her computer, Windows Update was actively downloading the updates. However, nothing else that accessed the internet was working (Live Messenger, iTunes store, IE, FireFox, etc.). And my computer wouldn't work online. Nothing...yet pinging different websites still responded...
Anyways, I uninstalled iTunes on her computer and magically the "block" on the internet was lifted. All three devices were able to access the internet with no issues at all...
When I got home later that night, I looked into the issue a little, and noticed that apparently iTunes has some specific conflictions with HP and Logitech drivers, especially when it comes to Vista, and this IS an HP computer. However, what baffles me is that iTunes being installed on JUST HER COMPUTER seemed to put a block on the internet from the wireless router...I would've thought if there were an issue, it would've just blocked her computer from the internet, not mine and my iPhone...*it was as if iTunes on her computer cut the connection from her modem to her wireless router*...
What gets me even more is that I have iTunes 9.0.18 on MY laptop, and it caused NO conflictions with her network...I'm baffled...this is just goofy for me to have to find an alternative to iTunes JUST FOR HER COMPUTER, otherwise it pretty much takes down her internet connection, YET NOT HER NETWORK!!! And what gets me even more is that Windows Update WAS STILL DOWNLOADING UPDATES!!!
I checked her WiFi router settings when I re-set it up, and all restrictions were off, and any permissions that would cause a block in the network by unknown stuff were off...I just don't get it...anyone have any insight on this?
If you have any questions for me, to get more detail to help me rule out this issue, just ask. I'd REALLY like to reinstall iTunes on her computer, instead of another program. I've actually downloaded the older versions of iTunes (as in my research, I read that anything after 7.7.1 apparently causes issues with Vista running HPs, due to some driver or file incompatibility...). Hoping that 7.7.1, 8.0, 8.2.1 or 9.0 (not 9.0.1) can resolve this, so at least she can still use iTunes...
*HELP!!! Please!!!*

It is not just the HP. I have 3 HP computes and 2 Dell computers. 2 of the HP and 1 Dell suffer the iTunes internet block. Took me a while to figure it out also. But, the one thing that is different on the Dell, is that I can leave iTunes installed and not open it and everything works. As soon as I open it, internet access goes down. BUT secure sites (https:) works fine.

  • Itunes 7.4.1.2 - Vista 64 bit - unable to import or burn cd

    Hello.
Last night I installed Itunes 7.4 on my vista 64 bit box and kept getting the error that ITunes had installed incorrectly and I would not be able to import or burn cds.
I then tried repairing and uninstalling and reinstalling but to no avail. Then this morning I tried downloading and installing 7.4.1 and am still getting the same error.
The about menu tells me that the cd driver dll is unavailable.
    Can anyone please help out?
    Cheers,
    David

iTunes is not supported on any of the 64-bit versions of Windows, so you will not be able to get any official assistance from Apple (and they don't provide any technical support in the Discussions anyway; these forums are, with rare exceptions, user-to-user only). You can search the forum for "64-bit" and see what people are suggesting in other threads. One suggestion I've seen is that you need the 64 bit Gear drivers. You can download them from here:
    http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm
    Hope that helps.

  • I cannot sync to itunes on my computer (Windows Vista 32 bit) with my mini conected.

I cannot sync to itunes on my computer (Windows Vista 32 bit) with my mini connected. What should I do?
My Mini will not boot up. I tried holding both buttons down.  I got a "connect to itunes" message. I connected. and nothing happens.

    Hello there Chess-ster,
If I understand correctly your iPad mini is not being recognized in iTunes on your Windows Vista PC. I would recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows
Start with these steps and work your way down as needed:
    Restart
Turn off your computer and your iOS device, then turn them on again.
    Update your computer
Check to make sure that you've installed all required updates for your computer.
    Update iTunes
Check that you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer.
    Check the USB cable
Verify that the 30-pin to USB cable or Lightning Connector to USB cable is free of debris and not damaged. If another cable is available, test with that cable instead.
USB cables that are bundled with third-party products or accessories might work only to charge those products and might not transmit data. Also, if you're using a third-party case or extended battery pack, try removing the case and connecting the Apple-supplied USB cable directly to your device.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

Download and install the QuickTime 7.4 standalone installer(without iTunes), install it, and report back your results? You can get it here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
    Thanks,
    Roy
    Unfortunately, no.
It does not work correctly, I actually had to do a system restore. It broke a few things. Most noticeably my quick launch bar quit working. The icons were present but clicking them did nothing, it would not re-size correctly, etc.
I wont be putting it back on the PC any time soon.

Its a Issue with your C++ Library on your computer, a way to fix it is to Rebuild your entire C++ Library from uninstalling the highest version to the lowest verision and reinstalling them back in chronological order..
I would suggest to contact apple support, request a Senior advisor they should be able to get that squared away, now if your not in phone support period you will probably have to pay for support.
I'd suggest the apple care if you havent got it yet

  • Itunes doesnt work on my vista (32 bit)

Im having quite a few problems with itunes and my computer. #1. iTunes constantly shuts down saying "itunes has unexpectedly shut down". It also sometimes RESTARTS on me, taking me to a blue screen. #2. Whenever i convert a video into mpeg, it works, but when i play it back on the computer AND my ipod (30 GB new model)it doesnt play back correctly. Can anybody help me?

  • ITunes doesn't see iPod (Vista 64-bit)

I connect the iPod touch to the computer and it charges, (duh-duh noise as if it's connected) but it doesn't appear in iTunes.
I have tried it on Windows XP pro SP3 64-bit partition on my computer, and on Windows Vista 32-bit laptop and both work fine.
However, here's a list of things that I've tried on Vista 64-bit to get it to work:
-Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, Quicktime, the bonjour service, apple mobile device support, apple software update, apple application support etc in the order stated by Apple on here. I have then even deleted all folders that weren't removed with the uninstall.
-Holding the power and home button on the touch itself to reset the settings.
-Forcing device manager to display iPod as USB controller.
-Stopping and starting the iPod service under 'Services'.
    -Connecting in recovery mode.
    -Updating iTunes and QuickTime etc.
    -Changing USB cables
I've even tried connecting an iPhone to the computer (running Vista 64-bit OS) and that doesn't connect.
So I know it's something wrong on the OS and not the iPod or the cable. The computer's fine as the XP partition works fine with it.
    Got any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

I do indeed install iTunes64-bit version. After much deliberation I decided to upgrade to Windows 7 to see if this fixed the problem before I did a complete re-install (as I didn't want to lose all my programs etc).
After I installed the Windows 7 upgrade (from Vista - Windows 7 just to clarify) it works perfectly. Installed first time with no problems.
I recommend this technique to anyone who can't figure it out and doesn't want to fork out an extra £240 for an iPod Touch again. It's a cheaper way of doing it anyway, if you pay for such software that is...

  • ITunes disabling my internet connection..?

    Hi.
Having "upgraded" to 7.4.3.1, iTunes now disables my internet connection whenever I try to upload a cd (after it's found the album artist and song titles). The internet still shows as "connected" but it won't work - no access to the Store or to any websites ("server not found").
Even if I close iTunes then try to disconnect and reconnect it does not work - the connection showing Error 0721. Only closing everything and restarting the computer enables reconnection.
I am using a Thomson Speedtouch 330 modem if that's any help.
Any advice would be most gratefully received - I'm halfway through uploading my cd collection and still have a hundred or so to go... If unresolvable this could be a deal-break stinger.
    Cheers

I'm having this problem too when downloading podcasts. Have you found a solution?

  • ITunes takes forever to open (Vista 64-bit)

I installed 10.4.0.80 on my vista windows.  It takes a good 10-15 minutes to load iTunes.  I tried disabling bonjour and starting iTunes.  After a minute, it popped up a window saying I HAD TO re-enable bonjour, with just an OK button.  I clicked ok and the iTunes window closed.  I re-enabled bonjour, and then double-clicked iTunes about 8 minutes ago.  It still hasn't loaded.  I have ran in safe mode all sorts of malware and spyware programs, ran defrag, and I have plenty of space, and nothing in the music or video library yet.  Any ideas?

Hello back, and thank you both for responding. I had no idea there was two separate iTunes forums. I guess I'll go post to the right one.
I'm the only Mac user in a house of PC users, so my three guys are no help to me. Well, one of them has a Macbook, but he uses his desktop PC the most. Anyway...
I have 50 Gigs left on my hard drive and that's only because I had to do two "Archive and Installs" on my iMac last week. That left me with over 20 gigs in two "Previous System Folders". I'm going to delete them eventually to get that space back, but my problems were happening before when I had almost 75 gigs, and are still happening now. Nothing has changed.
My iTunes has maybe 10 gigs of stuff total, with most of it music, then maybe iPhone applications (probably 2 or 3 gigs), but only one short 45 minute video, and a couple of podcasts. Nothing else. I'm a middle aged mom, so I'm not much into iTunes except for my iPhone stuff.
So, I'm confused by iTunes reluctance to open, but will go post on the Mac iTunes forum.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to me!
    Greatly appreciated... Deb

  • ITunes 7.7 errors in Vista 64-bit are drivin me crazy.

Alright, I'll break down and ask for help. For the past month, my iTunes has been unable to sync with my phone. I'll try to detail the problem as much as I can.
I upgraded my iTunes from 7.6 to 7.7, and after, my iPhone wouldn't sync, saying "This iPhone cannor be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version."... even though I ran the 64-bit version. So, I tried uninstalling iTunes so I could install again... but wait, it won't uninstall properly! When the uninstall process is almost finshed, it rolls everything back and says that it couldn't complete sucessfully.
Odd. Alright, so, I manually go through and delete all the iTunes data I can find, run CCleaner to get rid of traces in the registry, and use Windows Install Cleanup. Sweet, no sign of iTunes on my system, I'll try again... Hmm, now Windows Installer is crashing at 'Registering Modules'... iTunes still runs, but I get the same error message as before!
Alright, back to square one. Hey, how about we try changing the directory it installs to just for laughs.... and that causes the installer to crash too. Sweet.
I'm stumped. Help me Gods of the Apple Forums, you're my only hope.
An edit: When i try running the Repair option in the installer, it crashes on "Publishing Product Information".

I am having the same problem. The installer crashes when "Publishing product information". I can open iTunes even after the crash and it seems to be working fine, but I get the "install the 64-bit version" error when trying to connect my iPhone.
Sorry I don't have a solution for you, just wanted to let you know you're not alone.

Then I have to cancel it. Then shows: iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127).
I was told to scan the PC, uninstall and reinstall all apple programs, or uninstall from the highest version to the lowest version and reinstall in chronological order.
But no version of itunes 10.5 works. Not even the newest version at: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1427?viewlocale=pt_BR works.
Only the 10.4 version I had before can work, and now my iphone has iOS 5.0 and i cant use my itunes.

    Thanks,

For a chance I tried in this way and (strange but true) it works:
I installed Quick Time alone (the 7.3 release), then iTunes, and this time no problem at all at the start up of both the programs.
Finally I installed the gear software driver and no warning message appear in iTunes.
