Itunes disappeared from pc

i just noticed that my itunes has disappeared from my computer. The icon on the desktop is gone, I looked through "all programs" and it is not listed and I went to add/remove hardware and it is not listed there either. When i hook up my ipod nothing happens or comes up. I'm wondering if I should do a system restore on my pc back to the last date I know I purchased songs from itunes or if there is something else I could do. I also wonder if all the songs we purchased will be gone. If I log into the itune store from antoher computer will our purchased songs still be in our account? Thanks for any help or suggestions anyone has!

Cancel that... I uninstalled Quicktime and it started working. Will cross the reinstalling of quicktime down the track I suppose... thanks again

I don't know if this happened to anybody, but I downloaded an App from the store. After that, the App Store and the iTunes buttons disappeared from the home screen. Anybody has an explanation?

Purchased music from itunes disappears from my ipod mini

some of my purchased music disappeared from my mini ipod. I resynced my ipod and reloaded the tunes. they disappeared again. any ideas what the problem could be? thanks for the help.

I have had a very similar problem to the original post. Every four or five days I go to use my iPod (color display) and find nothing there except photos. All songs are gone. When I synch with my iTunes(iMac G5), everything gets dumped back on and it is OK for several days, then the same thing happens. It has happened three or four times now. Any suggestions on what might be going on here?

Upgrade 6 Issues...iTunes disappears from computer

Haven't done an itunes upgrade in a LONG time since it always causes a problem (windows xp, service pack 2). Tried to upgrade to version 6 and it looks like the install goes okay and i don't get an actual error message, but it stops just short of completing and since the initial attempt, all of my itunes folders have disappeared from my desktop and my shortcuts are gone. I still have my ipod folder....but the itunes ones are missing. Been trying to fix for 5 hours now and am freaking out. P.S. All the songs still appear on my ipod and when i reboot my computer, it doesn't automatically update the ipod like it used to.

I don't think so, but I'm not sure if it is included in the windows update that I downloaded this week.
I think you're fine, then. i believe you have to deliberately go out and find and install hotfixes (they're a sort of "halfway house" on the way to a proper security update). someone please leap in to correct me if i'm wrong about that.

okay, i'm afraid the Windows repair install is the recommended procedure in your situation (a "vanishing installation"). it's not something i've done myself, so if you'll excuse me for one moment:

Purchased movie on iTunes disappeared from library and iTunes Store.

I bought the movie Ice Princess about 5 years ago. I just now started to watch it again recently, but oddly it disappeared. I went to check my iTunes purchased movies and it's gone from there too. I went to check the store and it says that it is unavailable in the US, but is available in the Ukraine. Am I eligible to get my money back or a second download?

No, if the film is no longer in your country's store then you won't be able to redownload it, and you can't get a refund. You haven't got a copy of it on your computer's iTunes and/or on your backup of your downloads ? There is no guarantee that any item (including apps etc) will remain in a country's store, so ideally you'd be keeping and maintaining a backup of all of your downloads.
It's possible that the film studio will allow Apple to put the film back into the US store at some point, in which case you might then be able to redownload it

Why are my movies, which are still available in itunes, disappearing from my account?

I have had several movies (Thor, Capt America, Xmen first class) disappear across the cloud. They are still on my computer where I originally transferred the digital copy, but can't get them on apple tv. The itunes store has them as available to purchase like I haven't already done that with the digital copy. I was able to reinstall with the digital copy disc and my old code, but what happens when those codes don't work anymore? Why did itunes not recognize the purchase? This first happened several months ago with xmen. Then I noticed this evening the same thing had happened to capt america and thor. Would like to prevent it from happening in the future incase I no longer have the digital copy disk or my kids lost the codes.

Also it now means that I have duplicate graphics on my computer now. One with the cloud logo and one that is the movie appear because of the reinstall.

I have been using itunes with no problem till now. I have a pc with Windows 7. I plugged my iphone in and itunes wouldn't open as I expected it to. When I went to open it via the shortcut the message told me that there was nothing at that location should it delete it? I had a look and itunes was still in the program list but when I tried to open it the same message about nothing being at that location came up. I uninstalled itunes and then downloaded it from the apple website and it appeared to work and said it had installed correctly. The shortcut is there and it is in the program list but when i try and open it nothing happens. I have tried repairing it and repairing the apple update file but nothing has worked. I have tried creating a new user account are redownloading it there but again nothing happens. Please please please help. I am not particularly computer savy and don't know what else to do. The Icon for the apps store and itunes disappeared from my iphone. was told to reset and clear all setting to get them back. After i download the information from my computer to the iphone. I lost 78 itune songs.

unfortunately, the music feature is currently available in the US only, so if you're located elsewhere, your only option would be to restore the missing files from the backup you surely have created?!

1- Settings > General > Restrictions > iTunes > ON -- Yes the ITunes is ON.
2- Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout -- I still cannot find ITunes nor youtube app.
3- When I do a research on the spotlight I cannot find Itunes either

It is impossible to delete this app, or any built-in app, unless your phone was jailbroken. In any sense, plug your phone into the computer and restore it.

OK, I understand. Try this ... it's much safer. It will simply restore your backup, but not do anything to your iOS:
While your iPhone is plugged in to iTunes, right click on the iPhone icon on the left side of the iTunes display.
Choose "Restore from backup ..." from the pop-up menu that appears.
Again, what this will do is place that backup back on your iPhone without changing iOS. So you should be very confident in the backup contents before doing this.

You may have transferred all your songs, but your iPad is seeing the library as a different entity.

Tunes disappear from folder - but still play in iTunes???

I can play songs in iTunes that have disappeared from the iTunes music folder. Maybe I'm fundamentally misunderstanding something, but this has me baffled.
Here's what's happened: I was looking at my iTunes music folder in Finder. I double-clicked on a song (an mp3 file); iTunes opened and played the song. But when I closed iTunes, the song was missing from the folder!
I opened iTunes, found the song in the library, and played it again. I did a 'Get Info' in iTunes and it still shows the song as being in my music folder.
I used spotlight to search for the song name, and it, too, shows the song as being in the iTunes music folder.
But it still doesn't show up when I open the folder in Finder.
Worried that something was going wrong with the file structure, I did a clean install of the OS (10.4.11) and upgraded to the latest iTunes (7.5).
Since then, I've replicated the process with two other songs.
Any ideas?

All of the PDF documents on my iPad disappeared. This seems to be a problem that a number of people have experienced, although a clearly documented solution does not appear to be readily available.
This issue can be resolved by deleting all the PDF documents in the iTunes library. Copying the PDF documents back to the iTunes library and then syncing the iPad will allow the missing documents to reappear back in the collections into which they were filed.
It is a good idea to make sure that you have a complete backup of all of the PDF documents in the library before deleting them.

This just happened to me this morning. I sat down to update my podcasts, and discovered that every podcast I was subscribed to that had any recent episodes (I'm thinking since the first of this year, but no way to tell a definite date for sure) had disappeared. When my iPhone synced, they disappeared from it, as well. I looked them up in the iTunes Store podcast directory, and had to resubscribe to every one of them. And some of them only make a limited number of old episodes available in iTunes, so I've lost some without ever getting to listen to them.

We're fellow users, STOP YELLING AT US! At the very least, get your CAPS lock key fixed.
The device was dropped in water, it is damaged, take it to Apple along with cash or a credit card and get an Out of Warranty replacement.
