ITunes disk trouble

Okay I am trying to run an application on a CD on my computer, but everytime I insert it iTunes goes in and makes another CD icon of the songs on the disk. When I try to run the application it tries to run off of the CD with the songs on it that iTunes found. Is there any way I could disable iTunes? or anything else I could do.

I guess you will run into the same problem.
I don't have Enhanced Audio CDs, but from what I've read in my Toast Help files, it probably is a Mixed Mode CD.
I dug up an old MM CD (Lode Runner) and noticed the Finder (iTunes not running) created 2 icons.
This is what my Toast 7 help says:
"An Enhanced Audio CD contains audio tracks and enhanced data content such as photos or videos. The audio portion of the disc is playable in home and car stereo CD players, while the enhanced content is usable on a Macintosh or Windows computer."
"A Mixed Mode CD contains one data track and one or more audio tracks, and is recorded in one session. You can play the audio or view the data on a computer. Mixed Mode CDs should not be played in a home or car stereo CD player and may damage your speakers."

  • Hi, i want to know how the recycle process works do you have to have the earpods and itunes disk and do you get a new ipod of your choice or a new one that you traded. Is it completely free.

hi is the recycle process free?
DO YOU NEED TO HAVE THE EARPODS AND THE ITUNES DISK TO PART TAKE IN IT OR JUST THE IPOD?
DO YOU GET A NEW IPOD OF YOUR CHOICE EG.IF I HAVE A IPOD CLASSIC AND I WANT A IPOD TOUCH 5TH GENERATION OR DO I GET THE SAME IPOD CLASSIC BUT NEW.

Please don't write all in caps. It's consider to be "shouting", and is more difficult to read.
As to your question, an Apple Store will give you 10% off of the purchase price on any new iPod when you recycle an old one (the iPod shuffle not included). They do not need the earphones nor any of the disks or packaging.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • LaCie says Rescue & Recovery to LaCie USB2 disk trouble is Lenovo's problem

    Hi!
LaCie support says the Rescue & Recovery to LaCie USB2 disk trouble is Lenovo's problem. Also that there should be a fix ready for a TP T500 running XPP SP3. Any idea`s?
On the same topic: Why is battery power management set to High (save battery life) as default for Wifi? Is this causing time-out's or delays that Rescue & Recovery can´t handle, but  LacIe backup -- by standard wifi 802.11n to router connected -- USB2-disk can?
    Setup: Broadband-modem <> Netgear WNR3700 Router/LaCie USB2 disk <> Thinkpad T500.
    //S

I do not have an answer to this, but if you can tell me where I can go to actually attempt to delete the "backup" that R&R *did* create on my local drive, I would be most appreciative.  I had never used it (R&R) before (and I have used TP's going back *a long* time!) so I assumed when I tried it the first time that it would ask me where to put the backup, e.g. on the network, external drive, &c.  Instead, it started backing up *everything* to my local drive.  While it was running, I had to close the Tablet, which apparently did not make R&R happy.
Bottom line: my 100GB HD is already down to 25GB free (and it is only a month old), the "backup" apparently did not complete successfully so R&R will not recognize it to delete it.  So, I have a worthless backup taking up a ton o' space and I cannot find it to delete it.  HELP!!!  Next time, I will know to have R&R set up *before* running it to back up to the network. (or, based upon the original post to this thread, I may just manually back up my data or save all my important stuff on the network to begin with and let the sysadmin guys worry about backups!)
If anyone even knows what the name of the backup file(s) is/are, that would be a start.

  • IPod not recognized by iTunes & Disk Utility - Recognized by System Profile

I have a 40GB iPod Clickwheel (4th Gen?) that i'm trying to fix back to life since my mini was just stolen and i'm out on the road on tour all the time. my iPod actually powers up by itself just fine, the battery life is just peachy, and it can run independently without songs (i'm able to look around just as though i had songs on there - i can play games, alter settings, etc etc.).
    However, there's a few things i've noticed!
When i go to the iPod's about menu (when disconnected from the computer), it shows there's no songs, that there's 0 capacity, 0 available - shows that the version is 3.1.1, the serial and model numbers, but the format is unknown.
I've tried plugging the dang thing into my computer to much avail - IF iTunes recognizes it, it says it needs to be restored -- GREAT! so i try to restore the iPod, however, i almost instantly get an error: The iPod cannot be restored because it is currently busy. When i clicked the help tag, it says it's a common problem in iTunes 7.0 - great, i have 8.0.2; and i've tried running everything from a restart on the ipod to a restart on the computer, updating all my system files, running the iPod in disk mode, etc, but nothing seems to make it want to restore.
when i look in system profiler; it shows that the iPod is hooked up to my USB port (which is just fine, and i've never had problems running a click-wheel iPod through that before); however both Disk Utility and iTunes do not acknowledge it's existence. what gives?
is my iPod a goner? how would i go about restoring this so i can use it? I've tried it on my Power PC (Specs below) as well as trying it on an iBook and iMac; with the same results every time. i know it's not the cable, because the iPod actually charged via that cable last night!
    any help!?

If you can get it to show up in Disk Utility, try reformatting (erasing) it in Disk Utility. If that process completes without stalling or errors, quit Disk Utility and run iTunes. Immediately attempt to do another Restore to install the iPod's software and initialize.
If the iPod does not erase successfully (it should take less than one minute for a standard erase) in Disk Utility, the iPod's hard drive may be faulty.

  • Delete songs from iTunes & disk

When I remove a song from iTunes, it doesn't ask me whether I want to remove it from the disk or leave the file where it is.
    - I have the "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" check box checked
    - I have the "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" check box checked
    - I've also tried to go to Preferences > Advanced > Reset warnings
Anyone know how I can get iTunes to ask me to remove the file from the disk as well? I've been having to search through my folders manually to delete files.
    Thanks!

You could use this script: http://zach.in.tu-clausthal.de/tmp/Trash%20Current%20Track.scpt.zip
It moves the currently playing track to the trash.
(Just move it to <your home>/Library/Scripts/iTunes or <your home>/Library/iTunes/Scripts , I forget which one is better.)
    Hope this helps.
    Gabriel.

  • AE Flat + Airport Disk Troubles

I just got my new AE Flat today. I like it a lot, but I would like it even more if I could use it to access my USB HD (which is the whole reason I purshased the new AE in the first place).
The drive connects fine when directly connected to my PBG4 over USB 2.0. Like I said, I can't connect to it over the AE Flat. I can connect to my USB flash drive over the AE Flat, so I don't think there is anything wrong with the base station--unless it is a compatibiltiy issue.
I have a 750GB SATA Seagate inside of a CoolDrives USB 2.0/eSATA enclosure (MINI eSATA + USB 2.0 Aluminum Removable Drive Enclosure). The drive is formatted Mac OS Extended. Is my enclosure not compatible with the new AE Flat? If not, will it ever be?
I also read an article amongst Apple's support pages that said somethign about block sizes needing to be 512 bytes. What does this mean? How do I check or fix this?
Has anyone else had trouble connecting to their USB drives through the AE Flat???

I have a Thecus 2050 Raid enclosure that crashes the AE 802.11n everytime I plug the usb in. It's a hardware RAID 1 and a direct connection to my MacBook Pro confirms that it sees it as a single disk. It's formatted as Mac OS Extended.
I've tried reformatting, restarts, resets, different cables, and even went to the apple store to exchange it for a different one.
I've been reading through post after post of people having trouble with external harddrives and the AExtreme and I don't understand why there isn't a firmware update for this. The AExtreme has been on the market for several weeks, there's no excuse for all this imcompatibility.
At this point I just want to know that they're working on it, and that compatibility for all properly formatted usb drives is coming.

  • Disk trouble: error -20

I've got nasty trouble with the hard drive in my gen 2 iPod.
    1. When I try to use the iPod Updater to Restore, it shows a progress bar labeled "Restoring iPod software" and stays there indefinitely--I've let it run overnight.
    2. Disk Utility lists the iPod as a 2.0 TB device (obviously this is wrong!), and when I try to format the iPod, I get the message "Disk Erase failed with the error: Unknown error: -20"
Anybody know what error -20 is or have other ideas? Is there any hope?

  • ITunes Disk Access Permission Error after Account Migration

We purchased a new mac mini and used the account migration tool to move an account from a g4 Powerbook to the new machine. Everything went fine, but there was a problem with iTunes. It would not import any music from a CD. The error was "You do not have disk permission to write the music."
    HOW TO FIX:
    1/ Go to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced
2/ Check the iTunes Music Folder Location. (it is the first window down)
3/ It should say something like:
    Macintosh HD:Users:yourname:Music:iTunes:iTunesMusic...
(In our case, it was still set for the old machine.)
5/ Select "reset" button on right. Click OK.
    That's it.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.1)

I followed the instructions and it opened the itunes application correctly and allowed the user to access itunes account. However when I overwrote the new library folder with the old one the problem re-appeared so the fault lies with this library folder and some sort of permissions issue?. This has happened with a lot of accounts on our system and I am at a loss as to why it is happening. Furthermore it has now started to occur with Apple works files. Any ideas anyone?

  • Itunes disks & symbolic links

i have a rather large itunes now i use it for lots of tv shows and movies for appletv (and iphone) - up to 1.1TB's!!
so i now have a disk issue! i have tried a few solutions, i.e. concatenated raid volumes, unionfs, etc. all failed for varying reasons. the new solution is:
disk 1 --> symbolic link to ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
    disk 2 --> symbolic link to ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/TV Shows
    disk 3 --> symbolic link to ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Movies
disk 3 is actually a 2-disk concatenated raid volume, but this should not matter
itunes is auto-managed and copies files to itunes folder. everything works as expected when normally using this file strucure, e.g. adding new movie will put it onto disk 3.
but as this has only just been created, i would like to consolidate the library. when i do, i get a prompt saying disk 1 does not have enough space (note it doesnt mention that my local profile location)
what is occurring? does itunes attempt to evaluate the symlink? is my solution possible?
    regards
    jingo_man

    Your solution will not work.
For reasons unknown iTunes does not follow symbolic links. In fact, it does all kinds of things to avoid them, avoid following them, and does link symbolic links, hard links, or aliases.
Every time there's a new OS X or iTunes release I give it a try and the results are always the same--if I try to make a TV Shows symbolic link iTunes ignores the link, and creates a TV Shows directory. Even inside the directory, if, for example, I try to make a symbolic link to a particular show or artist I know needs a large amount of space iTunes ignores the symbolic link and creates a directory entry under whatever the main library is set to be.
About the only thing you can do is create a large, empty raid using new drives and copy everything over to that raid. Of course you would have to recopy everything if you ever add a new drive.
I can't wait for ZFS to be added as a regular consumer option to OS X just to be able to finally create a unified, ever expandable iTunes library.

  • HELP! iTunes Disk Conflict??

    I have 2 harddrives
C:\ is where my itunes is installed
D:\ is where my library is
Today I've been going through and updating album art (which I thought was being saved to D:\ with my library, and apparently it is not.)
iTunes now gives me the wonderful:
"The iTunes Music Library file cannot be saved. The disk you are attempting to use is full."
Is there a way to set it so that the album art I'm importing is saving to D instead of C?

Programs must be installed to the C drive to operate properly.  Fix that first.
In Edit > Preference > Advanced, change the library location to where you want to move the folder to.  This can also be done after moving the iTunes library.
    Then close iTunes.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from it's current location in C:\users\<user id>\Music to whatever location you want.
While holding <SHIFT> launch iTunes and continue holding until prompted to create or locate the iTunes library.
Select the option to location and point it to the new location where you previously copied the iTunes folder.
Then close iTunes and relaunch ensuring that everything is working.
You can now delete the original iTunes folder in C:\users\<user id>\Music

  • Moved library to ext. disk, trouble ensued

Since I moved my itunes music folder to an external disk drive, I've had serious problems getting the ipod to mount. Usually itunes goes non-responsive and I have to shut down. I went through the Rs and Restored. Since then, on the few occasions when I have been able to access the ipod through itunes, it has not transferred all of the songs in the library from the external disk--stopping after a while with an error. I've even tried and failed to reassign the ipod a different disk letter through control panel under computer management. Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Hi,
I checked out that website and hubby (who did it for me) said that he did everything except click on the "consolidate library" step.
I tried it again but it didn't help so.... maybe it helps if you follow that link step by step and do it all at the same time, but if you've already started, then it's too late.
Well, I know what I'm doing for the next few days!
Thanks for trying anyway. Maybe next time I'll check here before I do anything!
    Thanks again.
