ITunes does not ask passcode for iPad
Today I plugged my iPad to friend's Mac to charge a battery and coincidentally discovered big security problem. Automatically iPhoto has popped up showing all the photos available on my iPad, without asking for a passcode, which I always been assuming it will ask when connecting iPad to a PC or Mac. More than that: iTunes has allowed me to browse through the documents stored within the apps i.e.: DocToGo and copy it on friend's without single authorization. In comparison to RIM's Blackberry always asks for a password when try to connect to any device.
Unless resolved, I am seriously considering to stop using iPad for work because of security issue described above.
Can somebody suggest is there a way to make every Mac/PC with iTunes/iPhoto and other similar applications.
Just now I was on the phone with Apple Care and talked to guy name Bruno. Here is what he said: iPhone/iPad will force iTunes to ask passcode at a computer where you have never used it before only one time and will not ask thereafter.
They said it is "normal behavior", but I beleive it is security threat. For example: you go to your friend and like we all do - having to charge phone all the time - plug it to his computer - enter passcode and etc - boom! after that you friend will have ability to dump entire copy of your iPhone/iPad into his computer without any passcode.
There is no way to reset it.
Is there way to suggest a feature to an iOS?

This has never been a problem before, but when I insert a CD, iTunes does not ask me if i want to import the songs. It will not play the CD and ejects it. I have tried several different CDs and cannot import or play any of them. I can play songs that are already in my library Suecq5

If that doesn't help you can try a cleaning disc, or a shot of compressed air but chances are good that your optical drive has failed. You can either replace it or buy an inexpensive external unit (but not Apple's as it won't work on macs with a built in drive working or not). -
I have succesfully connected a MacBook Air, an iPad and two iPhones to the wireless network in this hotel. Apple TV can see the network and "connects" to the network, but w/o asking for password. I expected to see a screen immediately after selecting the network that asked me for the password as did all of my other devices. ATV did not ask me for a password. When I go to Settings>General>Network, it shows the name of the hotel wireless network, but I can't communicate with the network. It can't set date and time. When I try to enter my Apple account name and password, it tells me it can't log in w/o setting date and time.
Any ideas on how to connect to this network?I am having the same problem. In my hotel when I connect my laptop a screen will pop up and you have to hit the button "I Accept Terms". However I can't do that with the ATV. I called the internet provider and they said they could not help me. Any ideas? Do you think the guy just doesn't know what he can do for me? I am thinking I will call later and hope to get a different technician who might know how to help connect me.

TS1702 hen i go to the app store it does not ask me for my password
i can not get any of my apps to update nor can i install any new apps. when I go to the app store it does not prompt me for my user name or password anymore . ... any sudgestions ????

It sounds to me like you are trying to get new content or update your apps but no matter what you do you are not being prompted for your Apple ID and password. I recommend first starting by signing out of your iTunes and App Stores in Settings > iTunes and App Stores. Then close all the running apps on the phone:

Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the phone, sign back into your account and try again:

I would like to ask why apple does not support Whatsapp for Ipad

As a relatively new apple user, i find it difficult to understand as to why apple doesnt support whatsapp for ipad. I am mostly on the go and carry my ipad for business purpose, and as you know, these days social networking is an intergral part of our lives, i find it perplexing as to why ipad doesnt support whatsapp. Almost all of my collegue's and friend are using this, it becomes increasingly diffcult to multitask between a phone and an ipad.
Could Apple kindly make it available for users. It would be really convinient, especially for people in the age group 50+ who would like to be in touch with their families regularly.

BalaWhatsapp is meant for phones, authenticated via the voice carrier link. That's what the developer (nowadays Facebook, who bought the company) decided to do with their app. Hacking that design sounds dangerously against the TOU for discussion in these forums.
You can always search in other message boards outside Apple's regulations for what you want. Regardless, you will need an iPhone to authenticate and activate you Whatsapp account. -
Changing sort order in iTunes does not change order on iPad
If you create a new playlist (not a smart playlist) in iTunes, you can get the songs to order according to the track number or the name of the song or the size etc. It used to be that this selected sort order would be reflected in the corresponding playlists on the iPhone/iPad
This doesn't seem to work using iTunes 10.6, iTunes Match and iOS 5.1 on my iPad 2.
1. I create a new playlist in iTunes and name it Test.
2. I sort this playlist by the Name column, so that the songs are in the A to Z order (Fernando, SOS, Waterloo)
3. The new playlist appears on my iPad.
4. The iPad playlist lists the songs in the order selected in iTunes.
Now, back in iTunes, I click on the Name column again, so the names are now sorted in reverse. That is, from Z to A (Waterloo, SOS, Fernando). I also rename the playlist to Test 2 so that I know that the same playlist has been updated on my iPad.
So the playlist Test 2 is now ordered by the song name from Z to A in iTunes. However, the playlist on the iPad does NOT reflect the new sort order. It is still ordered A to Z, not Z to A as I expected.
5. Now I create a new playlist named Test 3. I open Test 2 (still in the order Z to A) and copy the songs to Test 3.
6. The new playlist named Test 3 appears on the iPad.
7. The songs are in the correct order.
8. Change the order again in the playlist.
9. The change in the order is NOT reflected on the iPad.
Grrr. I quit the Music app (including the background process on the iPad) and launch it again. But the order of the songs in Test 2 is still not the same as in iTunes.
Totally frustrated, I do the following:
1. Quit all apps running in the background on the iPad.
2. Go to Settings and turn off iTunes Match.
3. Log out of the iTunes store.
4. Restart my iPad so that the playlists disappear from my Music app.
5. Turn iTunes Match back on.
6. Log back into the Store.
7. Wait for the iCloud to sync.
8. Playlist Test 2 is still in the incorrect order! This is unbelievable.
I have tried the Right-Click 'Copy to Play Order' trick that I read about in another post but it doesn't help.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any solutions?
Thanks in advance.This isn't an issue of putting songs on that I don't want, it's that it doesn't CHANGE my music, even when I try to make it change. I've got over 15000 songs in my iTunes; my iPod can only hold around 275 songs. My problem, is that I can't make it "randomly" choose different songs. when I try to change the music, it puts the same songs on over and over.
Emphasis here is on RANDOM: I do not want to have to select the music to put on my shuffle. and
CHANGE: If I only wanted to listen to the same 275 songs, I wouldn't have bothered purchasing the others... -
ITunes does not find apps from ipad
Hi,
in my itunes some of the apps are shown with a exclamation mark in a gray circle and when clicking on them I am told that itunes cant find them and asks me to locate them - but they are not in the mobileapps itunes folder.
It seems those are all apps I downloaded with my ipad directly.
I tried to deselect "atomatically sync apps" and reselect it again - no succsess.
Does anyone know how I get those apps get into my itunes?

SebastianIf iTunes has an entry for them then it assumes that they are still there somewhere so won't copy them back off the iPad. Try deleting the entry for them in your iTunes library and then either do File > Transfer Purchases to copy them back from the iPad, or you should be able to re-download them for free from the store (re-downloading)

ITunes does not resume downloads for itunes match after quitting
On my main computer (with my iTunes library), I deleted several songs that matched at 256k but were 128k.
I had about 300 iTunes match songs downloading and had to quit iTunes.
Upon quitting, iTunes threw up a dialogue box saying I would be prompted to resume downloads after restarting.
That never happened.
Now, among my collection of over 3,000 "matched" songs, I do not know which are the incomplete files.
Additionally, several of the files had timed out because Apple's server's couldn't keep the connection open, and those too have disappeared from "downloads."
I tested by trying to download additional "matched" songs, but the timed out and incomplete downloads did not reappear.
Does anyone have a workaround?
Thanks!I've run into this too. You should be able to create a smart playlist based on icloud status = matched, then if there are files that can be downloaded, that playlist should show a cloud with a down arrow that you can click on and download everything in that playlist. Another option is if you have both of the iCloud columns showing in your music category, you should be able to click on the one with the cloud icons to have it sort by those, select the ones with a down arrow and download them. You should also be able to do a right click and select "download" but if you select all your music it may not show up if there are ineligible songs selected.

Does anyone know how to join tracks when importing a symphony? The new iTunes does not do it for me
supposedly therer is a "NO" to check on mounting an audio CD. There is none
supposedly there is a "Combine tracks" choice in the right hand corner of iTunes. There is none.

I changed my password for a website, and Password Manager kept putting in my old password. Deleted the password from Manger, however Firefox does not ask me for a new one at all. Checked the help desk, but the solutions are not working either. Restarted computer, nothing. What do I need to do from here?

You could try going to ''Tools > Options > Privacy'' and removing the individual cookie for that site. You can also try going to ''Tools > Options > Security'' and verifying that the site isn't in your exceptions list.

yes the mail works when I do not use safari for some reason it does not ask me for the password anymore it just opens up. I tried logging out of mail and getting back in and it does not ask. I shut down the computer and turned it back on and it still does not as me for mail password

I have forgotten my passcode for ipad and itunes is asking passcode to be entered - even after following directions for computers not synced... multiple times, but iTunes is not "detecting a device in recovery mode." What do I do now?
DFU Restore
This will very likley result in loss of data.
Plug the iPhone into the computer.
Ensure that it is running the latest version of iTunes and that it has access to the internet.
Press and hold both the home and sleep/wake buttons for exactly eight seconds.
Release only the sleep/wake button but continue to hold the home button for another five seconds.
Let go of the home button, then look at the computer screen for an instructional popup.
The popup should say "iTunes has detected a device in recovery mode. . .(etc)" Click accept to all boxes and let iTunes download and install all of the latest device Firmware and Software.
If no popup appears, repeat the above DFU instructions. If you've never done a DFU, it may take about three attempts to get the timing right. -
I had purchased and downloaded a tv series to my ipad. Then deleted it due to space constraints. Now I wanted to download it permanently to my MacBook but itunes does not show this purchases. It worked, however, for another series. What can I do?

If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
