  • After upgrading to Lion , itunes does not recognize my ipad, ipod touch anymore.

Yesterday I updated to Mac OSC Lion on my original Intel Macbook (the first Aluminum Macbook) with 4GB RAM.
Today I had a run in with my ipad and ipod touch, both of whom are not being recognized by itunes anymore.
My ipod shuffle and classic are still being recognised and do sync.
I have read through the support pages and annoyingly even factory-reset my ipad, which cannot be used anymore due
to itunes not recognizing the device !
System profiler does show either ipod or ipad being connected to the usb port. Resetting of the devices did not help (see above)
Any clues to this inconsistent behaviour differentiating between classic ipods and ipod touch/ipad ?
    js.

update: It seems like the XCode update did interfere with itunes. I reran the XCode install this time with itunes not running. This seems to update all necessary drivers and Library items correctly.
After this IPad and IPod touch were working fine again.

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes

  • Itunes does not recignize 5th generation ipod touch

itunes does not recognize ipod touch 5th generation. It shows up as a camera under my computer.

I had the same problem. My new ipod touch 5th generation was not recognized by iTunes.  I checked the Apple Support solutions and the first step they recommended was to update iTunes to the latest version.  I did just that it now it all works beautifully.  I am using Windows 7.

  • My Itunes does not sync with my Ipod

    Hi!
I have an Ipod Video that I bought about 3 months ago.
I allready had songs on it from another computer in another country actually.
Now when I plug my Ipod in, my Itunes does not find it or whatever because it doesn't syncronize

Hi Moria, thanks for trying to help but the article suggests the following:
Outdated OS software - definitely not, only bought the computer on Wednesday and it keeps itself updated.
Computer needs updates - I have tried manually updating everything but apparently everything is totally up to date.
Software interference - well that could be anything. But it was working OK up until yesterday and I haven't installed anything new since then.
Damaged files - could well be the case but out of 2000 songs in my Music folder, how can I possibly tell which one is corrupted?
Unregistered .dll files - Have already tried restoring the iPod, which was a big mistake because now all my songs are gone off it and I still can't sync!
Damaged disk structure - well it's a brand new computer and everything else is working OK, have performed diagnostics and all that, so I don't think this can be the problem.
Corrupt iPod photo cache - the Photos actually sync fine, it's just the music that I have trouble with.
Lost connection - definitely not the problem.
Conflict with third party hardware - nothing else attached to my computer.
Bad hardware - Everything else works perfectly in my USB ports, so I don't think this can possibly be the problem.
Thanks so much for trying to help though!

It mounts on my desktop, but *does not show up under the devices tab in iTunes* (v9.2). I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 on an iMac (2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM).

    Hello Dennis,
I would start with this article, even though it may not seem entirely applicable. It contains some of the basic troubleshooting steps for this situation. Make sure to work through each and every section as needed.

Otherwise, take a look at this article as well if need be.

Another solution may be to Reformat the iPod. For instructions on how to do this, see this article.

  • Most recent version of iTunes does not recognize my video iPod, what to do?

I have a video iPod that I got last year and had it synced to my Windows XP on my desktop and I had recently synced it with my Macbook and had no problems with videos, pictures, movies, etc. I got a new iPod nano red and went to put music in it, but I had to download the latest version of iTunes. Just a few days ago I was able to still use both iPods on my MacBook. I just tried to put new videos on my video iPod and I get an error message saying: "the video was not copied, because this device does not support this file." I tried to authorize this computer, that didn't work. I tried converting the selected video, but I get an error(-50). I don't know what to do, any ideas? I appreciate anyone's help. THANKS!

Kevin .... I'm with you. I have the same problem. iTunes 9.0 / Windows 7 ... how we actually talk to someone at Apple to get a fix? I got a brand new $800 windows cpu ... that is a brick when it comes to iTunes. If anybody can help us, please let us know.

  • ITunes does not load when connecting iPod Nano (4th Gen)

I have my iTunes settings 'disable automatic syncing for iphones and ipods' unchecked, and in my iPod settings i have 'open iTunes when connected' option checked, and iTunes still does not load. How do I solve this?

If you have itunes open and then connect the nano, what happens?

  • Itunes does not sync to my ipod

Until recently (the addition of an external Blu Ray player to my desktop computer) I could sync my older ipod touch simply by plugging into my USB.  Now, when I plug in Windows makes the "noise" that something is being plugged in but iTunes will not "see" the ipod.  I have done the following as suggested by the website tutorial.
*Verified the USB port is working as well as the cable.
    * Unistalled and reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime
    * Plugged the ipod directly into the back of the computer USB not an auxillary side one.
    * Plugged the ipod into my laptop which recognizes it automatically and wants to sync it.
    * plugged my very old ipod nano into both laptop and desktop- both computers recognize and want to sync it.
    * restarted my computer after making itunes and quicktime the default programs for their functions
    * purchased a song from itunes and successfully downloaded to my desktop library.
I am at a loss as to what to try next.  As I said above, Windows makes the sound of something being plugged in but itunes has the drop down option of sync ipod grey not black.  Also, If I look at "my computer" there is no icon for the ipod, like there is for the other external devices.

    Did you do this:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    - Non-iPod touch iPods use different drivers than iOS devices like the iPod touch.
    - Did you install any software for the BR player? If so try uninstall it and then remove and reinstall all Apple software using the above.

  • ITunes does not start automatically when iPod is connected

iTunes used to start automatically when I connected iTunes. It no longer does. Can I fix that?
    Dave

Connect your iPod and open iTunes. Towards the bottom of the iPod screen, there are four check boxes. The top one says "Open iTunes when iPod is connected." Check that box and click apply. If it is checked, uncheck it and click apply, eject and reconnect your iPod, then recheck it and click apply.

  • ITunes does not start up when iPod attached

This is a new problem. Don't know why. I have to start iTunes manually when I plug in the iPod. It then sees the ipod but does a very quick update. I don't know why itunes won't start up by itself anymore. Any yes, the box telling it to do so is still checked.
    Any thoughts?
    Dave

Try giving your iPod a reset. Hold in the menu button and center button at the same time until the Apple logo appears.

  • ITunes does not automatically sync to iPod

When I connect my iPhone4 or iPod Classic to my mac, they will not automatically open iTunes and sync.  The iPhone automatically syncs with iPhoto only.  I have tried resetting my ipod and iphone and reselecting automatically sync iphone from the iphone screen in iTunes.  I have also repaired permissions with no change.
What else have I missed to make these things auto-sync again.

    Hello pib1617,
iTunes Match can be enabled on your iPod Touch via Settings -> iTunes & App Store.
Turn on iTunes Match. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Sign in if you haven’t already.

  • Itunes does not sync movies to ipod what can I do?

I try to sync movies from Itunes to my Ipod. I can sync it from Itunes and it does say completed but there is no movie on my I pod.
    What can I do?

    1. Reboot methods. The first thing to do is try to reboot the iPhone, which you can do by holding the top button and the home button for about ten seconds. In some cases, the iPhone is actually still on, but a bug stops the screen from displaying anything, so you can reverse the problem by doing the reboot. If you still see nothing on the screen, try to plug the iPhone in and again try the reboot methods to see if you can get the screen to display.
    2. Restoring the iPhone. If the iPhone shows up in iTunes, but it still doesn't seem to turn on, it's definitely a display problem. When rebooting fails, you can restore the iPhone from iTunes, and this should fix whatever bugs caused the original issue. Realize that you'll have to reload your music if you restore to another software version. To restore, plug the iPhone in, go into iTunes and click the iPhone's icon on the side of the select screen. Click on the restore button and agree to the prompt asking if you really want to restore the iPhone's software.
    3. Recovery mode. You can put the iPhone into recovery mode if it has a charged battery by holding down the home button before connecting it to iTunes, then continuing to hold the button until iTunes recognizes that the iPhone's in recovery mode. Recovery mode is a bare-bones way of booting the iPhone that allows you to perform a restore when you're dealing with a serious issue such as the iPhone failing to turn on or display anything on its screen.
    4. Last resort options. If you still can't get any response from the iPhone, you may have a bad battery or shorted out electronics. This is far from an ideal situation, but if you've got a warranty open with Apple, it's covered. If you don't, you can send the iPhone away for repair, but it will cost you a bit to replace the damaged components. Stop by an AT&T store and they may be able to give you a loaner phone in the meantime so that you don't lose your ability to make and receive phone calls until your iPhone is repaired.
