Itunes does not find nano

Have had a shuffle for years, no problems. Just got the 2nd generation nano and Itunes does not find it. It seems to load on windows as a usb device but is not recognized by Itunes so does not appear as a device there...so cannot restore, etc. I have already tried all the fixes on apple's site. Deleted temp files, deleted Itunes completely and reinstalled it. Could not delete the registry files suggested...got an error message. Cannot locate the serial number...none on the nano itself nor on the box. Help says I can find it by going to settings/about. I can't find "setting" on my menu!!! Where is it? My menu only has music, fm, etc, etc and setup. And nothng in setup gives me settings or about.
Please HELP!!
PC   Windows XP

Where did you get this 2nd Generation Nano?
Serial number is in very small type on the back of the Nano towards the bottom below the box that has the size of your Nano. Settings is on the first menu when you turn on your Nano, use the click wheel to highlight it and click the center button. First item will be About, click on it and then move your click wheel and the serial number will be the second item from the bottom.
If you don't have any of this you don't really have a Nano.

  • Itunes does not find Outlook 2010

    Hi,
I just upgraded from MS Office 2007 to 2010.
But now I can`t sync with Outlook any more. At the "Info" tab of my mobile devices, Itunes just say that there is no calendar software found on my PC. I can't even check the calendar synchronisation option. It looks like Itunes does not realize the existence of the new office 2010 suit at all. Contacts couldn't be synced either. There is simply no option to choose synchronisation with Outlook.
I already deleted Itunes -> reboot and reinstalled it but with no effect to the Problem.
    My Config:
    Windows 7 PC 64bit
    Itunes 9.2.1.5 64bit
Office 2010 Home and Buisness 32bit
    Any ideas?

    I found the problem:
I downloaded Office 2010 and Microsoft default download and installation method is the "click and run" version of Office 2010. This version works not with Itunes.
    Solution:
Go to the Microsoft Office 2010 download page under the big green download button (2 MB Click and Run) you find a small link called something like "extended Download options". Click there and at the top you could download the 32 or 64 bit standard download packages (about 600MB). If you instal one of these everything works well again!

  • ITunes does not find the iTunes folder though it is there

    Hi all,
I moved my Music folder on a separate HDD for space issues, and now my iTunes would not start saying that it cannot find the iTunes folder and it cannot create it.
I put the iTunes in several places, not just in My Music, so that it will find it, however it does not and refuses to start.
    I am using Vista.
I tried deinstalling/reinstalling iTunes and it does the same thing.
I hate deinstalling it and going through the whole registry in order to delete all entries that contain "iTunes".
    Thank you

    Hold Shift then launch iTunes.
Select *Choose existing library* then select the _iTunes library.itl_ file in \My Music\iTunes\ folder you moved.

  • ITunes does not find all pictures in aperture

    Hi,
I am trying to sync my first generation iPad with some pictures in aperture via itunes.
All of my folders and projects appear in itunes and are selectable. But itunes shows some folders with 0 pictures, which is not true.
I already made all maintenance procedures on the aperture mediathek, deleted the ipod photo cache folder several times, made several restarts and it does not change.
Some folders are OK, all pictures are synchronizable and some foldres simply show 0.
All my pictures are saved in the aperture mediathek.
Does anybody have an idea, what else could be successful?
    Thanks, Bob

I had the problem...firgured my issue out. When I looked at the differences it appears as though itunes wants to know what type of file you have. In other words you need to have the extension. I looked at my photos and the photos itunes saw all had the .jpg or .tif. I exported the files I wanted on the phone, since renaming them didn't change the file name, looked in the finder to make sure that the .jpg was on the file and reimported and boom sync'd perf.
    good luck

  • HT4623 iOS 6 update on iphone 5 failed now itunes does not find my phone

NOW WHAT.....................  any and all help welcome

    Hey mfrouns,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like your iPhone is not recognized in iTunes when connected to your computer. To troubleshoot this issue, see the relevant article for your operating system:

  • ITunes does not find apps from ipad

    Hi,
in my itunes some of the apps are shown with a exclamation mark in a gray circle and when clicking on them I am told that itunes cant find them and asks me to locate them - but they are not in the mobileapps itunes folder.
It seems those are all apps I downloaded with my ipad directly.
I tried to deselect "atomatically sync apps" and reselect it again - no succsess.
Does anyone know how I get those apps get into my itunes?
    thanks for your help!
    Sebastian

If iTunes has an entry for them then it assumes that they are still there somewhere so won't copy them back off the iPad. Try deleting the entry for them in your iTunes library and then either do File > Transfer Purchases to copy them back from the iPad, or you should be able to re-download them for free from the store (re-downloading)

  • Genius in iTunes does not find anything when iTunes match is turned on

    Hey,
adding songs to iTunes match worked without any problems. Now I added my MBP (with an empty iTunes Library) to iTunes match. Since I can get the music from iCloud I thought I don't need to copy the hole library to this device, too (80GB additional free space, yay!). Now Genius is shown as turned on. But it doesn't show me any Genius-Mixes and if I hit the Genius-Button when playing a song it always tells me "Genius is not available for the song", even for songs it was available before. My guess is, Genius only tracks songs that are saved localy and since I don't have any songs stored on my MBP it doesn't find any mixes. Is it really like this and will it be fixed somewhen? Genius is really one of my absolute favorite features in iTunes and I don't see the problem why it should be impossible to create Genius-mixes for your iCloud-songs..

I am still not totally clear on what you are trying to do bu tmight I suggest checking your storage and security settings in your setting menu. The symptoms sound like a conflict. If your settings are set for wifi sharing and you use USB the system amy see it as a conflict.
I do not use the wifi sharing function, more for reliabilty reasons then anything else. if your laptop or other workstation have access to multiple networks they may not sync properly for a variety of reasons.
I would see if someone eles has any suggestions as well...

  • I have moved my Itunes media folder to an external drive and Itunes does not find the items in the folder

Running Win7. I moved my entire Itunes library to an external drive to free up space on my laptop. Itunes recognized the change and all was well. That worked fine and I have synced several times from the laptop with the library on the external drive. Now the laptop is in the shop (sigh, not Itunes related a dead network card). I connected the external drive to my desktop, made sure my software was up to date. opened ITunes went to edit/preferences/advanced. Went to change Itunes media folder location and navigated to the proper folder on my external drive and clicked OK. None of the music, videos, etc, that are in that folder show up in iTunes on the desktop. Restarted ITunes, no help, reboot computer, no help. Have I done something wrong or left out a step. I could copy all the media onto the desktop individually and build new playlists but that seems like something that should not be needed? One of the reasons I moved my Itunes media folder to the external drive was so I could use the laptop for iTunes while travel and the desktop for iTunes while at home. Do I have to copy the entire folder to my desktop and take up space there? That would be counterproductive to using the external drive. I searched and saw a hint to hold down shift while starting ITunes but that did not change anything. Any help would be most appreciated!
    Jim in WV

Thank you for your prompt response - I did as you said and did a drag and drop into the iTunes window - it imported and got my album art from the net. When I started Itunes with the shift key down I was prompted to choose a library but since I copied over the media folder and not the library folder I was unable to select that so I guess I will have to create a new library and add in all the music, videos, etc. unless I wait for my laptop and export the library or at least that seems to be the case? In short, all my data (iTunes media folder) is on my external drive and can be added to the blank iTunes screen but I can not choose a library folder. Is there anyway around completely making all those playlists again? I am not sure my laptop will survive the shop with data intact and really hate to start over on those.
In an unrelated question - I collect old TV shows from the 1950's. Can I make playlists within the home video folder somehow?  In other words like one for Quiz shows, one for comedies, one for police and detective shows, etc. while I am remaking all my playlists for my music if I end up having to go that route?
Once again thank you for helping me out. I am not too Itunes savvy and really appreciate you taking the time to answer.

  • IPod Shuffle (4G / 4th Generation) w/ Software Version 1.0.1, iTunes does not find 1.0.2 update

I have an iPod Shuffle (4G / 4th Generation / A1373) running Software Version 1.0.1. I know that version 1.0.2 is available. However, iTunes says that there is no update for it. I have reset the iPod Shuffle and tried everything I can think of.
Any advice / information would be greatly appreciated.

My 1.0.1 is not being recognized by the latest version of Itunes...11.1.3.  Really getting fed up with Apples "upgrades" obsoleting other hardware and software...particularly their own.

  • Transferred all files to new computer. My iTunes does not find my music.  The "scan for media" button doesn't work and I cannot get the iTunes to see the music that is clearly on my new computer.

I am stumpted.  I transferred and have all my music in my iTunes folder on my new computer and I also have it on an external hard drive.  I've added the new computer to the list of authorized computers and followed the "advanced" preferences options to select my iTunes folder and still nothing happens. No music, no playlists, NOTHING. The I am completely shocked that none, NONE of the apple support pages can help me.  I have Windows 8.1.  Please can someone help me.  I cannot believe how hard this is.

  • ITunes does not find CD burner or software

I am trying to burn a CD of an album I downloaded a couple of days ago. I have a Mac G4 (AGP graphics), OS 10.3.9, 500 MHz, 768 MB RAM, Toast 5.3.2, Plextor DVDR PX-716A burner. System Profiler has the burner listed in Firewire, but iTunes has my old Iomega listed in Preferences - Advanced - Burning. How can I get iTunes to see my Plextor and Toast?
Also, after I downloaded the album and clicked on the art, the enlarged cover says that it is a SACD. Can I burn a regular stereo CD from this download?
