ITunes does not launch in Windows 7 (BEX/APPCRASH)

I have been having this itunes error since I updated to 10.5
I am running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit
I am able to run Quicktime 7 normally
When I try to open iTunes, the pointer shows the spinning wheel briefly, then nothing. There is no error message. I tried updating windows and drivers to the latest versions already. In addition, I followed the troubleshooting steps on the apple website, and all to no avail. Disabling all processes except Itunes and its helper app still not solve the problem, neither is creating another user account the solution.
I decided to check out the event viewer and these are 4 logs that i see.

Any help is very appreciated!

Nowadays people don't back up to CD/DVD. They get an *external hard drive* and copy over their entire iTunes folder, and whatever else they are backing up.
The advantages are (1) this method does not depend on iTunes's horribly unreliable burning capability (2) you can look at the external and see that the stuff you backed up is really there. (If you want to see an unhappy person, it is when they try to restore from CD/DVD and discover that it did not burn correctly in the first place.) (3) it lets you back up your other valuable files besides your music.

  • Itunes will not launch on Windows Vista no error code

Itunes will not launch on my computer. I have windows vista. I have uninstalled and downloaded itunes repeatedly. I have also tried all of the troubleshooting tips available on the apple support site. But none of them worked. Quicktimes works fine. It is just itunes. I even opened up task manager to check the processes and itunes appears for about a second in the processes tab then just disappears. I have no idea what to do i have an iphone 3gs and havent updated it for a few months now and cannot sync my iphone without itunes. I Have kaspersky internet protection but i doubt thats the problem because itunes was working fine until i updated it.PLEASE HELPPPPPP!

Presumably the configuration fails to complete, so every time you start iTunes it has another go.
As iTunes works normally when you plug in your iPod, you should be able to work round this by creating a new iTunes short cut.
Go to Program Files\iTunes and right click on iTunes.exe. Select: Send to>>Desktop(create shortcut). If you are lucky you will be able to open iTunes using this short cut.
However this work around does not fix the underlying problem that WIndows fails to complete configuring iTunes.

All of my songs were backed up on an external hard drive, but when I loaded them onto my windows 8 computer after authorizing that computer, it does not play the songs.

  • Installed the latest itunes, does not launch on vista

If this was my first encounter with Apple, I would just have cancelled the whole thing.
I installed the latest software on a Dell Inspiron running with WindowsVista. I used the previous version on this same computer without any hassles.  I cannot get itunes to launch on the computer after the new installation.  I get a message "Media device manager has stopped working".
Quicktime is in order and updated.
Media device manager is nowhere to be found.
Your site does not provide me with a link to install Media device manager on its own or upgrade it or I cannot find it.

I'm wondering if I should try uninstalling iTunes and then reinstalling it that way. However, I'm afraid I'll lose all my songs and videos.
My songs are backed up on my Video iPod, but not my videos.
I also just got an iPod Touch for Christmas, and I can't get it to work yet without the iTunes opening.
Anyone who can help, it'd be greatly appreciated.

  • ITunes does not run with Windows 8.1

Since I installed windows 8.1 I cannot get into the itunes store. I get the error message iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store an unknown error occurred 0x80090318.  Any ideas? I am using a Sony 20" touchscreen computer running Windows 8.1 operating system. I have checked the forum and copied QTMovieWin.dll to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes without success. Connecting to the Store is impossible and I can't update iTunes. Can anyone assist me in correcting this problem?

Here is the fix, if you're still having the problem.  It's just a copy and paste thing.
    Copy QTMovieWin.dll from:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Just be sure to reboot after you have copied and pasted the file listed above.

  • Latest version iTunes does not update in Windows XP SP3

I had no valuable diagnostic information, just try again. I went to Control Panel and removed the software. Now it does not finish with the installation. During the installation there was a failure because the Apple Mobile service could not start. Has XP SP3 support been removed?
Software is now removed so I will not receive notifications that this bug has been fixed. Please notifiy me via email when done.
    Thank you.

  • ITunes does not launch with new User Account (Vista)

One of my limited user accounts on Windows Vista because corrupt, so I created a new limited User Account and copied ALL of the files from the old to new.
Now, when I try to launch itunes on the new user account, it will not open at all. Itunes works on my administrative account, with no problem.
Can someone tell me the most pain-free way to resolve this issue. And, whatever solution, will I be at risk of losing my itunes libraries?
    Thank you in advance.

Hiya. Delayed again. Browsers being cranky. (I blame the aftershocks.)
It's actually plausible that it was installed in there (by doing a run as administrator on the installer itunes64setup.exe, perhaps). Because that suggests a possible cause for these continual permissions-related problems.
A lot of what you're seeing is consistent with damaged ACLs (access control lists) on files, folders and registry keys. Although it's a lot rarer than it used to be, one of the ways you could get borked ACLs was if a program (like iTunes or QuickTime) was installed in one user account, and then the user account it had been installed in was deleted (or otherwise rendered unusable).
We don't know which particular permissions are stuffed up here. But there's a shotgun approach to fixing them which used to work okay, although it's a bit fiddlier to do on a 64-bit system than a 32-bit system.
I'd strongly recommend setting up a system restore point prior to doing this, so you can revert if things turn to custard.
The basic technique you follow is from the following blog entry *with one important modification.*
[Solving setup errors by using the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions|http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/solving-setup-e rrors-by-using-the-subinacl-tool-to-repair-file-and-registry-permissions.aspx]
The modification is that when you're editing the file to replace YOURUSERNAME with the name of the account, edit the first line so that %ProgramFiles% instead says %ProgramFiles(x86)% and after the line that reads:
    *subinacl /subdirectories %programfiles%\ /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f /grant=users=e >> %temp%\subinacl_output.txt*
    ... add another line saying:
    *subinacl /subdirectories %programfiles(x86)%\ /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f /grant=users=e >> %temp%\subinacl_output.txt*
(The first is to make sure the commands see the subinacl, because it installs in \Program Files (x86)\ on 64-bit systems, and the second alteration is to make sure that the permissions for the 32-bit program files are fixed too.
After doing that (it'll take a while to run), can itunes launch normally in the new account?

  • ITunes will not launch in Windows 7

I have had iTunes on my windows 7 PC for some time.  Today it would not open when I tried to launch it.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times.  I have also tried all the recommended fixes in the Apple Support Center.
I do not know what to do next.

Now nothing happens when launching iTunes.  No messages appear.
Could you check something further for me, please? Is your QuickTime Player also currently failing to launch (with or without an error message)?
