ITunes does not open in 1 user account

IiTunes says it's not compatible with this version of OS, in 1 user account and not in the others. Same thing in iPhoto. Please help.

Login to that user's account. Then do a Spotlight Search for "iTunes". Open it up from there. If it works, then that is the iTunes you want to use.
To find that working iTunes, do a Spotlight Search again... Once the iTunes app is selected automatically (don't click on it), press on the command button, that will show you the path in which that iTunes is located. Then you can find it for yourself and correct the problem.

  • Waveburner does not open in other user account:

    Hi,
I’m having an issue with Waveburner 1.1.1 not opening in a second account I have on my Mac.
I have one account that I use for everything and another that I use for just music production.
They are both admin accounts. The music account has been working just fine for months with Logic 7.1 - -no problems at all, until I went to use WB today. I’ve run it just fine in my “everything” account but it just stalls with an endless beachball when I go to launch it in the music one.
Today was the first time I launched it in that account so I got the “...is being launched for the first time...” blah blah message and just hit OK. After that - spinning ball of death requiring a force-quit. By the way, WB is listed in the force quit dialog as “unresponsive”.
All AU’s passed validation in my “everything” account but it never got that far in the music one.
Anyway, I did all the standard voodoo - trashed WB prefs, restarted, repaired permissions...
    Any clues anyone ?
    Thanks,
    Dan-

If it launches in one account and not the other, then there's something that is account related beyond the WB prefs. There may be some other prefs that are causing WB to grok. If you are validating any AU's, then you may want to see if any of their prefs are corrupt.

  • ITunes does not launch with new User Account (Vista)

One of my limited user accounts on Windows Vista because corrupt, so I created a new limited User Account and copied ALL of the files from the old to new.
Now, when I try to launch itunes on the new user account, it will not open at all. Itunes works on my administrative account, with no problem.
Can someone tell me the most pain-free way to resolve this issue. And, whatever solution, will I be at risk of losing my itunes libraries?
    Thank you in advance.

Hiya. Delayed again. Browsers being cranky. (I blame the aftershocks.)
It's actually plausible that it was installed in there (by doing a run as administrator on the installer itunes64setup.exe, perhaps). Because that suggests a possible cause for these continual permissions-related problems.
A lot of what you're seeing is consistent with damaged ACLs (access control lists) on files, folders and registry keys. Although it's a lot rarer than it used to be, one of the ways you could get borked ACLs was if a program (like iTunes or QuickTime) was installed in one user account, and then the user account it had been installed in was deleted (or otherwise rendered unusable).
We don't know which particular permissions are stuffed up here. But there's a shotgun approach to fixing them which used to work okay, although it's a bit fiddlier to do on a 64-bit system than a 32-bit system.
I'd strongly recommend setting up a system restore point prior to doing this, so you can revert if things turn to custard.
The basic technique you follow is from the following blog entry *with one important modification.*
[Solving setup errors by using the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions|http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2006/09/04/solving-setup-e rrors-by-using-the-subinacl-tool-to-repair-file-and-registry-permissions.aspx]
The modification is that when you're editing the file to replace YOURUSERNAME with the name of the account, edit the first line so that %ProgramFiles% instead says %ProgramFiles(x86)% and after the line that reads:
    *subinacl /subdirectories %programfiles%\ /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f /grant=users=e >> %temp%\subinacl_output.txt*
    ... add another line saying:
    *subinacl /subdirectories %programfiles(x86)%\ /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f /grant=users=e >> %temp%\subinacl_output.txt*
(The first is to make sure the commands see the subinacl, because it installs in \Program Files (x86)\ on 64-bit systems, and the second alteration is to make sure that the permissions for the 32-bit program files are fixed too.
After doing that (it'll take a while to run), can itunes launch normally in the new account?

itunes does not open. When I click on itunes it jumps ones and does not open in macbookpro.NEED AN ANSWER NOW!!!

    Hey sebasac,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with iTunes on a Mac. Let’s see if we can isolate this issue by starting iTunes in safe mode:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3430
There are several ways in which an add-on can cause iTunes to act erratically, such as those listed below:
    - Loss of iTunes functionality, such as the Visualizer.
    - Distortion or irregularity in the iTunes interface.
    - Slow performance.
    - iTunes won't open or quits unexpectedly.
    - You see an alert while syncing stating "... cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."
If you notice any of the above symptoms or other unusual behavior, you can disable any plug-ins not manufactured by Apple by opening iTunes in Safe Mode. This is done by holding down the Option and Command keys (on Mac OS X) or holding down the Shift and Control keys (on Windows) while opening iTunes. If performed correctly, you should see the following dialog before iTunes finishes starting up:
"iTunes is running in Safe Mode. Visual plug-ins you have installed have been temporarily disabled."
If the above does not resolve your issue, I’d like to isolate further by testing in another user account:
Isolating an issue by using another user account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4053
    Symptoms
When isolating issues and/or troubleshooting software issues in OS X, you might want to use a different user account. Learn how to use this technique to narrow down the cause of an issue.
    Resolution
The issue at hand may simply be caused by a bad preference setting or user-specific data file. With proper isolation, you can avoid time-consuming and inappropriate troubleshooting methods.
    Thanks,

  • Photoshop elements does not open, says "gathering user info...."

photoshop elements does not open, says "gathering user info...."

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  9\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.
Solution 5: Try with admin account or right click and select run as admin. or try directly from .exe

  • Today, iTunes does not open

yesterday, iTunes was fine, this morning iTunes does not open.  Restarted, problem not resolved.  No new devices added nor deleted.  Ideas?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Storeand turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • ITunes does not open when iPhone connected.

When I connect my iPhone to my iMac, iTunes does not open. The iTunes option to open iTunes when this iPhone is connected is checked.
What is the name of the iTunes preference file that I can put in the trash to try to get this to work correctly?

  • ITunes does not open when ipod connected

Since installing the 1.1 update, iTunes does not open when I connect my nano to the computer. Both computer and iTunes (when I manually open it) recognize the nano, so no big deal. Just wondering how to make iTunes automatically open.

Sometimes the Preferences get corrupt - if you set them off and then back on that sometimes clears the problem.
