ITunes does not recognize my Nano after update to 7.6.0.29

I recently updated my iTunes software to version 7.6.0.29 and my Nano 3rd generation is not recognized anymore. Once it is plugged into the computer, Windows locates it and opens up the Windows Explorer. iTunes does not find the Nano at all.

I have a similar problem with the iPhone. Tried everything you can think of and then some. There is apparently some devastating bug 7.6 introduced into normal USB device recognition. I've been able to force the phone into recovery mode; the boot recovery USB driver does still work. Restoring the phone every time I need to sync is both scary and time-consuming.

If you haven't synced to a computer them (from here) :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

ITunes does not recognize iPod Nano (5th gen)

This just started recently...
I am running OS X 10.5.8 on my PPC G5 Dual 2.0 and iTunes 10.4.1.
I am experiencing 2 problems:
1. iTunes no longer sees my iPod Nano - the iPod shows on my computer but iTunes does not display the "DEVICES" section in the left side bar.
(It had been working before but I think this happened after I upgraded to iTunes 10.4.1)
2. Whenever I quit iTunes it takes a few seconds to close the iTunes menu bar and then displays the error message "the application itunes quit unexpectedly".
I have been all over these forums and followed every bit of information I could find.
I've reset the iPod
I've tried every USB port available
I've uninstalled iTunes and installed a freshly downloaded version
I've run Disk Utility several times (below are the results from the last run...)

Problem Solved...
I had a third party software/plug-in called JAX installed with iTunes.
I uninstalled it and now iTunes 10.4.1 recognizes my iPod.

Hi, Now find, after putting new songs in my play list, that when I plug in ipod to update songs on ipod itunes does not recognise the ipod.
The version of iTunes I updated to was 8.2.0.23 - everything worked fine until then. I see there is a newer version 8.2.1 now available - do you think by installing this the "unable to recognise" problem would be fixed???

ITunes does not recognize new Nano

I recently acquired a 4GB Nano. Alreadying owning a shuffle and a Mini, I plugged in the Nano. It was recognized by updater but when attempting to apply the latest patches, updater hung up. Since then, my PC recognizes the Nano as a fixed disk and the do not disconnect flashes from the moment it is plugged in. I have left it in such state for as long as a whole day while at work. Additionally, when I try to eject it, the PC will not allow me to do so. If that wasn't enough, iTunes quit recognizing my Mini as well.
I have uninstalled, removed and reinstalled iTunes and Ipod updater several times. I have done the 5 Rs numerous times on the Nano and Mini. I finally got the Mini working again but the Nano continues to have the same problems.

I have had a similar problem with a 1g Nano. After leaving it on all day flashing do not disconnect I came home and restarted the computer forgetting that the iPod was still attached and blinking. When the computer came on an XP diagnostic window came up saying that the volume on drive was dirty and it was repairing the drive. Once that completed I fired up iTunes and the initial screen asking to name the iPod came up and then it started dowloading my music and has been fine ever since. I hope that this helps.

Itunes does not recognize iphone during os update

During the update of the os the phone swiches to recovery iboot mode. The pc then loses contact and doesn't recognize it anymore. When i attach the phone to another pc it recognizes the recover mode of the phone and it can be switch back to factory settings.
Everytime i start itunes it gives an message:
The software needed for communication with Ipods and mobile phones is not corectly installed. Do you want iTunes to repair the problem.
But the fix is apperently not working because the next time i start the message remains.
The problem of not recognizing the ipone does not exsist during normal iphone sync, only after installing a new OS.
I already tried:
- removing itunes, all drivers, all apple software and reinstalling everything
- http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495
- i only found this error message in the log iPod Service:
cannot find event-id 0 from source iPod Service. [...] service started
Anybody any suggestions? Please let me know?

ITunes does not recognize my Nano

When I open iTunes, the message "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes to install the iPod's software."
Okay, I've downloaded the latest version of iTunes 7.4.1.2 and have tried to install it. Towards the end of the install, the message "Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services" with a 'Retry' or 'Cancel' option.
The iPod itself works just fine. iTunes seems to work just fine as well. But for some, reason, the iPod is no longer recognized by iTunes, although WinXP sees the Nano plain as day. I've never had this problem before and have been able to simply plug the Nano into a USB port and voila. My iPod shows up in Itunes. Something has since corrupted.

ITunes can't read my Nano after updating to new software and iTunes

Recently bought a nano and nike + ipod kit.
When I inserted the nike receiver, I got an error message that said this ipod does not support the device (or something like that). I went to the help pages and proceeded to download the latest version of iTunes and the most up to date software. After that the computer restarted, except now when i connect my nano to my computer, iTunes does not recognize my nano (i.e. I don't see my nano on the left hand navigation bar) and the screen on my nano has the infamous "do not connect" error message. It's been like that for a while. I'm concerned I may lose data.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I followed all the instructions on the suggested page. Many files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\ could not be deleted. Message said ""Cannot delete files: It is being used by another person or program"' but could not find iPodService.exe in task manager (also, the "Cannont delete ... " did not mention iPodService.exe).
Deleted all that I could. Reinstalled iTunes. Still same result. iTunes and computer both recognize my old iPod. Only the computer recognizes iPod Touch.

I have searched and not found this exact problem on any of the forum pages. My computer (PC) recognizes my iPod as an external USB drive. It is completely charged up (from the AC power). No error messages. Screen shows the "updating - do not disconnect symbol" constantly while docked but the pod does not show up in iTunes at all. I can get the main screen (menu) page by disconnecting the USB device through Windows, but when I try to select any of my data on the pod it shows nothing downloaded on the device. I've tried everything in the support section (most recent version of iTunes, checked that iPod service is running, reinstalled the COM interface for iPod service, deleted and reinstalled iTunes, etc. As a final resort, I "restored" the pod to factory settings using iPod Updater, but no joy...To say I'm unhappy is putting it mildly. Any suggestions before I jump out a window or something????

My computer recognizes my iPod. iTunes does not.
iTunes does not recognize my other nano (2gb) or my friends shuffle. However, when my friend's shuffle is plugged into the computer, the iTunes window will pop up though I still can't see the actual device. On my nano and video, iTunes does not pop up.
