ITunes doesn't add files to my Movies library

So I just added a video, but now, I want to add another 2 but I can't. I Do all of the steps but the video won't show on the library. What's the problem? or what can I do?

I don't know much about .mkv  I believe it is a package format.  If you're lucky you can open it in a program such as Streamclip and re-save it as .mp4, but that's only if the enclosed codecs work in .mp4  Otherwise you'll have to use one of the many free (or I am sure eventually somebody who makes one that costs money but basically does the same as the free ones will eventually post here as hidden advertising) transcoders to re-code it to a format playable by iTunes.

  • ITunes doesn't add some of my music files.

iTunes doesn't add to the library some of my files. For example, from the same album, iTunes just add few musics. With quick player, all files can be opened. How do I open all my music files in iTunes?  Thanks!

iTunes doesn't add to the library some of my files.
if those problem files are MP3's, try running them by MP3 Validator, then try adding them to iTunes.

  • ITunes crashes on "Add file to library" or "Add folder to library"

I'm on W7 64 bit. Upon trying to add anything to iTunes it immediately crashes with no usefull error message just windows saying the program has encountered a problem. I tried reinstalling and its doing the same thing, Any ideas?

    Fault Module Name: StackHash_ada7
    Fault Module Version: 0.0.0.0
Okay. Although the Stackhash result here roughly means "Windows 7 doesn't know what module caused the crash", in context it's consistent with trouble with your iTunes library file.
By way of experiment, create a new library.
    (1) Hold the Shift key while opening iTunes. You will be prompted to Choose iTunes Library.
    (2) Choose Create Library to create a new one. In the following window you will be prompted to select a location to save the new iTunes Library.
    (3) Click Save. iTunes will open the newly created library. After closing iTunes, you can always select the original library by using the Shift key when opening iTunes.
Try adding some of the content that is currently crashing iTunes when you add it to the usual library. Does it add in the new library, or is it the same error in the new library too?

  • ITunes won't add files or folders

For the last couple of days I've been having a problem where iTunes won't add files or folders for no discernible reason. Yesterday I was able to add a few videos, then I wasn't. Today after reinstalling iTunes it added my music just fine, but when that was finished and I wanted to add something else, nothing. I don't know why it's doing this. Drag and drop doesn't work, either. When I try to bring a file over, I get a little red circle with the line through it saying it can't do it.
    Help?

Ok. So its finally working again. Not sure why, but maybe my experience will help someone else.
All I can say is that I have been trying a relentless combination of mounting and mounting the drive, checking and unchecking the 'copy files to iTunes Library', running 'consolidate library', and everything in between. One of them finally kicked it back into action.
Nice Apple. 9.2.1 isn't buggy at all...that's sarcasm.

  • Itunes doesn't add all the songs from my library

    Hi,
Had to reinstall Itunes and now the program doesn't add all the songs from my library (roughly 4,000 songs). All that is added is maybe 20 songs, and always the same ones. It has worked perfectly before.
I have tried to "pull" all the artist folders into the Itunes window, but it doesn't work. I have tried to set another folder as the Itunes library and then choose "add new folder", but only those 20 songs are added. I have made sure so that none of the files are copy protected or "read-only".
    Please, help!
    Best regards,
    Jonas

Ok, I deleted the two files and upon startup iTunes did run that search wizard for music files. However, it only found 4 songs that are located on local harddisks, and did not (as far as I could see on the network status) even try to search on the network harddisk.
One more thing though, that I forgot to mention before. I tried to solve this situation by installing an earlier version of iTunes... 4.6 i think, but when I tried to run the program it told me something like "Cannot read the file iTunes library.itl since it was created by a later version of iTunes". Where can i find that file, and should i remove it and try to add the songs with iTunes 4.6 instead?
(Thanks so much for all your help!)

  • Itunes refuses to add files to library

I recently had a problem with my computer which forced me to reformat. before i did this, i saved all my music to DVDs, along with any files i wanted to keep. I have since reformated, added all the files from the DVDs to my computer. I have downloaded itunes, and "added folder to library" through itunes. the folder i added was the "My Music" folder, in which i saved all the music from the DVDs into. after a short while, i realised a lot of my music had not been added. when trying to add this music using "Add file to library", nothing at all happens. Also, when manually browsing the folder, and double clicking the music that has not been added (which is displayed with the little itunes symbol), itunes loads, but nothing happens. the music is not added, nor does it play. it seems to have affected mpeg4 and mp3 files. what is going on?

So you have a DTS audio DVD.
You say you've "encode the contents into 5.1 wav files which work in QT".
How did you manage to decode the DTS stream into WAV files?
How many QT files do you have?
What you should do is to let your receiver do the decoding of the DTS stream, and just get your Macbook to send that stream to the receiver via whatever TosLink adaptor you already have.
iTunes is ONLY stereo, so if you have a multichannel WAV file, it won't read it. Also, I'm sure there are restrictions on bit depth, so if you have 24 bit WAV files, I'm guessing that also won't work in iTunes.

  • Cannot add files to iTunes - iTunes won't add files

I have just purchased a new Macbook Pro. I then used an external hard drive to transfer music files from my desktop PC to the Macbook Pro. I copied the files directly to the iTunes Music folder on the Macbook, and then through the "Add to Library" option in iTunes added the entire "iTunes Music" folder to iTunes. I then noticed that certain files did not show up in the iTunes Music list. I verified that the files had been copied to the iTunes Music folder on the Macbook Pro, which they had, but they will not add to the Music list in iTunes. The problematic files will however open with the Quicktime player. I have also tried the following:
    - dragged and dropped files to iTunes (result was simply nothing. The files did not show up in iTunes).
    - Uninstalled and Reinstalled iTunes (didn't help)
    - Cleared the "Music" list in iTunes and then re-added all of the files again. (same files still would not show up in the iTunes Music list)
    - Tried moving the files from my desktop PC to the Macbook Pro with a different external hard drive. (still no luck).
I have found other posts with the same problem but have not found a solution. Please help!

  • ITunes Doesn't play Files!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi
    I've got into trouble.
I have a macbook pro. I installed bootcamp 1.3 and Win XP SP2. I copied all of my music CDs to 'My Music' folder in *XP partition*; Then in Mac I went to the iTunes's prereference, advanced tab, and unchecked 'copy files when I add my files'. After that I added my music files and enjoyed listenning them *especially with apple remote control*. Several days ago I decided to upgrade my music database in iTunes library so I deleted previous and add files again. After processing a bad event happened!!!
*When I use my remote for playing my songs a bad message appears on the screen and says your computer or your songs does not authorize ...*
At previous time I hadn't this problem!
    Now what do I do?
    Please help me.
    Thanks alot.

Do you have shuffle turned on?

@CPL_STEELE: can you try to post these specifications in your own topic? (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=985161&tstart=0)
It's not very nice to take over someone else this topic, because the topic starter (Ganieda) could have another problem than you. It's also very confusing for everyone who is trying to help because there are now 2 problems in the same topic.

  • Cannot add files or folders to Library

iTunes was working fine, synching, ripping, adding MP3's.
All of a sudden, it stop being able to add MP3's from my harddrive. I can still rip CD's fine.
I've tried reinstalling both iTunes and the iPod software, but no dice.
No errors pop up. Sometimes the Processing box will pop up and show the progress bar and the filenames, but then nothing happens. Most of the time iTunes doesn't even blink.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

Found my own answer. Turns out the MP3's I had were corrupt. Just reformatted/reinstalled windows, and I guess when I burned them they didn't cook right to the DVD-RW and are hooped now.
They have file sizes, but are not valid MP3 files.

  • ITunes doesn't adds all files from folder?

Well if they will not add one at a time, then adding a folder full of them will not work either. So...
Are you sure they are MP3 files? If so, see if they play in another player, such as Windows Media Player. If they play in WMP but not in iTunes, then the problem may be minor corruption in the MP3 headers, which can be cleaned up in a tool such as MP3 Valdator, as Garth mentioned.
If they will not play in either iTunes or WMP, then you can suspect that they are not valid song files.

  • ITunes doesn't play files stored in iTunes media Folder

    Hi, have this problem:
I had deleted my files from iTunes media folder, but as luckily I had the same files located in other place I just copied them to the iTunes Media but iTunes rejects to play them (in my iTunes Library). I'm only able to play them if I go through the procedure as followings: Play - "iTunes unable to open this file because the original file not found. Do you want to find it?" (or smith like that) - Find - Open  and then it plays, but I have to perform these actions with every file separately and I have quite a lot of them. Oh, and after that first popping-up window the next one appears "Would you like iTunes to find other missing files from the same location as [the file's name]?" But when I click on "Find" it says "iTunes were unable to find other missing files". Why? How do I accomplish the same task but with all my albums at once without necessity to add them one by one?  Does there some way exists to tie the tracks from my albums with original files without importing them to my iTunes library?
    Thank you

Understand how iTunes works.  iTunes does not actively look for files.  When you add a file to iTunes the location of that file is saved in the iTunes database (library file).  When you try to play a track iTunes looks in its database for where the linked file is to be found and tries to play the specific file it has listed in that location.  If you deleted the file then it no longer exists.  I think even if you replace it with one that is identical, iTunes is still looking for that specific file.  You can link the track listing to a new file using the process you have done.  In theory iTunes should be able to find others but the files have to have been organized by iTunes in the past because it will be working on the basis of how it thinks they should be arranged. Additionally the files you replaced have to have exactly the same name as the ones you deleted because iTunes will expect them to be named how it would name them when they were first entered into your library
