ITunes doesn't always stay on 2nd monitor

This is a new issue which I have submitted to the Apple bug site.    But I'm wondering if anybody else has seen it.
I have a new 27" iMac which I keep current, and an old 2nd monitor which I keep to its right.    I always have iTunes on that monitor which is in portrait mode.
in the last month about 6-8 times I have gotten up in the morning to discover iTunes has moved over to my iMac's screen.   Weird.
I get the feeling not many people use a second monitor the way I do.   I know that when I upgraded my VMware Fusion a couple of years ago, it was difficult to set it up so that it only used my old iMac's screen.
When I restart my computer, I have a program, SimpleFloatingClock, which never comes up where I left it on my 2nd monitor.   But iTunes always comes up on the 2nd monitor where it's supposed to.
My old Mac couldn't have the setting where it turns on to check my mail all night.   So maybe sometimes when it checks the e-mail, it thinks my other monitor is missing.    My old monitor needed a new converter to use Thunderbolt on my new computer.

That didn't work.   iTunes on my 2nd monitor is still full screen over there.   On this monitor, I can use the green button to make Mail or Safari full screen and then press ESC to get it back.    If I hit the green button on Chrome, it acts the old way.
But if I click on iTunes on the other monitor, ESC doesn't do anything.   Double clicking the top doesn't do anything.   Right clicking iTunes (on my main monitor), and selecting Hide or Show doesn't do anything.
Found it!
If I very, very carefully get my cursor on the top left of the 2nd monitor, the task bar for that window pops up.   The red and yellow dots are greyed out, but I can click the green button and get it working.    And I can finally resize.
I'm guessing that part isn't a bug, but just an ugly, difficult, design.   Very ugly.
But the rest of this certainly is one or two bugs.

FF always opens in 2nd monitor

I have dual monitors and occasionally set my 2nd monitor as the primary when testing software. On reverting back to use my 1st monitor as primary (using display settings) I find FF disregards the changed setting and always opens on the second monitor. Reboot does not resolve the problem. All other apps open in primary.
Any way to resolve this?

Maybe it was fixed in newer versions of Firefox? You are using Firefox 3.5.
If you see that Firefox 3.6 has the same problem, read [https://support.mozilla.com/en-us/kb/basic+troubleshooting this] and, if you see it's a bug with Firefox, file a bug at [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org bugzilla], if it hasn't been filed before.

Logic always opens on 2nd monitor!

I am using Logic Studio 9.0.1 under SnowLeopard. I have the annoying problem that my Logic always opens on my 2nd monitor, even when I create a new project.
How can I change this?

Check to make sure that your 2nd monitor is not setup as the primary monitor. I have 2 monitors as well and primary is on my left and 2nd on right. Take a look in the system pref to see if thats the case. have you tried swaping the cables on the video card?

ITunes doesn't always connect when I synch

I think I have the proper settings to accommodate this task.

When I synch the iphone to the macbook pro, itunes doesn't open automatically everytime. I have to open it sometimes.
I have the settings adjusted for iTunes to open automatically.

ITunes doesn't recognize IPOD Nano (2nd Gen), but Windows XP does

I'm a longtime happy owner of an IPOD Mini and bought a second Gen IPOD Nano a few months ago that works great. I have two identical P4 Sony Vaios that I back up/clone from one to the other every so often to keep them as identical as possible. It's been some months though since I've backed up/cloned my primary laptop to the secondary, and the 2nd Gen Nano isn't being recognized by ITunes on my primary laptop, only my secondary laptop. However Windows recognizes the Nano just fine on the primary laptop on all 3 USB 2.0 ports (I haven't tried my Mini recently), and I can browse the file system of the Nano, but ITunes just doesn't see it.
As I mentioned, my secondary laptop works just fine with the Nano, both Windows XP AND ITunes recognizes it and can update it, but I don't want to have to use that computer JUST for updating my IPOD, and pretty soon I need to back up my primary laptop to my secondary. I've actually only been holding off on that because I can't get my Nano to be recgonized by ITunes with my primary laptop and don't want to screw them both up. Cloning my secondary laptop to become my primary isn't an option, the file system is many months outdated, I need to get the Nano working with ITunes on my primary laptop.
This is definitely a software/driver/service issue, I can take the hard drive out of my secondary laptop, put it in my primary, and ITunes will recognize the Nano just fine. I can take the hard drive out of my primary laptop, put it in my secondary, and ITunes can't see the Ipod. I've upgraded ITunes twice on the primary laptop in the last few months with no improvement, so that hasn't helped.

Nevermind. I uninstalled ITunes completely as well as the IPOD updater program (I think that's what it was basically called) that was installed on my system. I then rebooted, tested the Nano to make sure Windows recognized it, then tested it (successfully) with Winamp and the Winamp IPOD plugin. It was already working properly with Winamp and the IPOD plugin even when ITunes wasn't recognizing it so there was no change there. Once everything checked out I reinstalled the current version of ITunes and it FINALLY recognized the IPOD. It said there was a new software version available for the Nano so I went ahead and allowed it to download and install the update to 1.1. The update went smoothly and once the Nano restarted ITunes again recognized it. No clue what the problem was that created this error condition initially, but perhaps someone else will benefit from this information. I would have thought that reinstalling ITunes at least 3 times, including 2 version upgrades, would have resolved the problem, but it took removing ITunes and the IPOD software completely to resolve it.

ITunes doesn't always find my AEX

I recently moved and have a new iMac and a new Time Capsule and am running my old AEX both to extend the network and to stream over AirTunes. The light is green regardless of where I plug the AEX in in our apartment but unless it is in the same room as the iMac it doesn't seem to appear in the list of available speakers at the bottom of my iTunes. Is the signal transmitted directly from the iMac to the AEX or shouldn't it be going through the network via the Time Capsule and then on to the AEX?

Ok, so I went and found the album I was looking for and dragged it in, but the image is pretty poor. Is that the best we can hope for? Why can't Apple allow us to drag the image from iTunes store? Or better yet let us import the artwork without buying the album since I owned the album/cd long before there was any such thing as Apple, iTunes or iPods?

ITUNES doesn't always load up and some artwork missing!!

I have all my music on en external hard-drive and the itunes and artwork on my c:drive, occasionally when I open itunes it says importing itunes, this goes on for a while then it says it couldn'nt find the file and has renamed it itunes library damaged, it then opens itunes with all my songs but with alot of the artwork missing, this happens about once a fortnight - aarrhhh, why??

Check to make sure that your 2nd monitor is not setup as the primary monitor. I have 2 monitors as well and primary is on my left and 2nd on right. Take a look in the system pref to see if thats the case. have you tried swaping the cables on the video card?

When using 2 monitors, Finder always displays on primary monitor even after dragging to 2nd monitor.

How can I set Finder to display to 2nd monitor. I drag it to the second monitor, but it still display on primary monitor when next opened.

Thank you for your reply. No other program behaves this way, even PhotoShop CS4. It is related to how the program handles OS events.
It is probably a problem with the Windows WM_GETMINMAXINFO and WM_SIZE handlers. My guess is that program stores the maximized size (and it always fills the screen at start-up) and it query to see if it is dragged to a larger screen.
Of course, this theory doesn't address the disappearing program behavior when maximized on the secondary monitor. Since I don't have another OS, I cannot check if it is Vista related or Windows related. Because of the difference in architecture, I'd be surprised if it happened on a Mac, too.

ITunes 10.4.1 Problem with Key Command Go to Current Song - Doesn't always work

Since updating to iTunes 10.4.1, I've noticed that the key command, command + L doesn't always work to display the current song.

I have this problem in iTunes 10.7 (21). The "Go to Current Song" option exists in the Controls menu, but even when audio is playing it is disabled.

Using 2nd Monitor Doesn't Reset When Switching To 1 Monitor Only

FF4 was displayed on my 2nd monitor off of my laptop.
I then powered-down and removed the 2nd monitor hookup.
After rebooting with only the laptop monitor, FF4 opens (twice) with only a tiny window just large-enough to display the red-yellow-green buttons. Fortunately, upon clicking the green button, it expands into a normal window.

I delieted the files any still doesn't work.
I recall one coworker encountering this before, and he switched the monitor connection to the other output on the graphics card (dual monitor support) and it worked fine for him. Unfortuantely I tried this and still didn't work...

Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...
If no joy...
Place the Device into Recovery mode...

Got the "apple firewire ntsc" choice to show up even if grayed out and "missing" under "audio/visual" menus by recreating choices in Easy Setup under "final cut pro" MENU thank GOODNESS because I was reading horror stories on here about this under another thread with someone trashing preferences, reinstalling and the works and still not getting it to show up...on my search now for an analog/digital converter up at b&h...find it odd that the s video connector wouldn't show the crt monitor when I put both displays through the 3870...I switched it back to see if it worked again when only the one dell monitor display was there and there it is again mirroring the screen display on my desktop...just can't be seen as an "external monitor" in fcp...couldn't find anything specific in the shane ross threads to this. I'm sad the program doesn't just see the s video connection though the 3870 though my computer does fine and will query up at b&h in regard to what might be affordable as far as a digital/analog converter. It's also weird in itself that when I put the two dell monitors on the one card my computer no longer could see the s video crt connection...makes no sense. Will report in later as to what I discover up at b&h as I'm sure there's a world of people out there using this sony crt monitor still even into the upgrades with computers and software so I imagine therein lies the solution.
