ITunes doesn't connect to the store (no error message, just blank page)

Hi everyone! I'm having troubles with my iTunes for windows XP. It doesn't connect to the music store, it doesn't display any error message and the loading bar stops to a half and then iTunes remains with the blank page, going no further. When I run the diagnostics, it gives me all green dots. So I really don't know what the trouble is... I can only access my accout information and radio stations, nothing more. Can someone help me out please? Thank you very much!

  • Can somebody help me in finding a solution or an explanation to the problem I am currently experiencing as well as others wherein we cannot connect to the iTunes store (iTunes could not connect to the store. An unknown error occurred (0x80096004))?

Can somebody help me in finding a solution or an explanation to the problem I am currently experiencing as well as others wherein we cannot connect to the iTunes store. An error message appears and either says "iTunes could not connect to the store. An unknown error occurred (0x80096004). Make sure your network connection is active and try again" or "iTunes could not connect to the store.Make sure your network connection is active and try again." Despite the fact that my network connection is working quite fine, this problem still persists. I can say that my connection is fine because I can surf the internet and furthermore, I used to connect to the iTunes store just before this incident happened which started from April 17, 2014 and persists until today. I tried to solve the problem by following the troubleshoot procedures given in the support section of this site but it really did not solve the problem. I believe that others are experiencing this situation as well very similar to mine when it comes to the time of occurrence as I have read in the discussions in this site. Even though we have different network connections, operating systems and other specifications, we still experience the same problem, so is there really a problem with our computers or is it with the iTunes? And by the way, my computer works under Windows XP. Thanks a lot. God bless.

    Try this...
Triple click anywhere in the line below to select it and press Ctrl+C to copy it.
    cmd /k netsh winsock reset
Press the WinLogoKey+R to open the run dialog, then Ctrl+V to paste, then press enter/return.
You should get something similar to this:
Reboot the computer and the problem should be resolved.
If it doesn't work then perhaps a full tear down and rebuild of iTunes will fix things. See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for details.

  • ITunes can't connect to the store

Hi everyone! It's since a couple of weeks ago that I have trouble connecting to the iTunes Store from my iTunes. I had the latest version of iTunes 10, and it worked all just fine. Then all of a sudden one day, for no evident reason, it says it can't connect to iTunes Store, because the internet connection isn't active, but in fact the connection works! Also, I can't access my account from iTunes, but I can listen to radio stations!! And when I run the Diagnostics for the network connection, I get only the third dot red, where it says it failed the "safe connection to iTunes Store".
So I make a test, I try to connect to iTunes Store from my iPod Touch, using the very same internet wi-fi connection I use for my pc. And guess what? It works perfectly! This makes me think the trouble is in my computer then. So I check the guide and I update my OS (Windows XP 32 bit, with SP3), with no results.
I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, with no results. The last thing I tried was the downgrade to iTunes 9, with the only difference that now when I run the Network Diagnostics, it gives me all the green dots, but still iTunes won't connect to the store!
I really don't know what to do anymore... If someone could please help me, I would be very grateful! Thank you very much in advance for your attention.

  • ITunes crashing when connecting to the store on Windows 8.1

    Hello,
I had iTunes crashing when connecting to the iTunes Store with an Apple ID. I tried unsucessfully all the solutions posted on the many threads of people having the same issue. So I decided to reinstall Windows. A clean Windows 8.1 install from the Microsoft DVD. And guess what, it is still crashing! How can this even be possible?
    The problem:
    - iTunes crashes when connecting to the store with an Apple ID. It connects, briefly freezes, then crashes.
    - I can access the store without an Apple ID without crashes. But it crashes as soon as I connect with an Apple ID.
    The system:
    - A clean, fully updated, Windows 8.1 Pro w/ WMC install from the Microsoft DVD.
    - Applications I installed, along with iTunes: Adobe Reader, Google Chrome, Skype, Office 2013. Nothing else. No crapware. No nothing. These are fairly common applications that shouldn't conflict with iTunes.
    - Antivirus is the built-in Windows Defender.
    - Firewall is the built-in Windows Firewall.
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000 on an Acer V3-571-6486
    - I have not moved Apple's folder from Romaing and Local AppData of the old systems... So it's a clean iTunes profile.
    - I can sucessfully sign-in to the iTunes Store with this account on another computer
    - I have tried with multiple accounts on this computer, all crashing
There are tons of threads about this. I tried all the solutions posted, including:
    - Adding "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" to the PATH environment variable
    - Copying QTMovieWin.dll from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes"
    - Moving QTMovieWin.dll from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes"
    - Updating the graphics card to the latest available driver from Intel's website (9.17.10.3517, 2014-10-04)
    - Downgrade the graphics driver (9.17.10.3347, 2014-01-29)
    - Use the graphic's driver from Acer's website.
    - Use Microsoft's Basic VGA Driver
    - Disable the Graphic's Adapter entirely
    - Have tried to monitor the process with ProcMon, looking for a hint like a missing file or registry entry, but have not found anything helpful.
These solutions seem to have worked for almost everyone, but not me. The crash details in the Windows Application log are useless. Faulty module name is 'unknown'.
I am out of solutions. Is there anything left to do? Can anyone out Apple debug the dump file or something? Is there any way to contact Apple about this issue?
    Many thanks.

    Hey zoyashahab,
Ok, so it sounds like there are two issues here we want to address, the first being the iTunes Store connection issue and the second being iTunes not recognizing your iOS devices.
First, I'd start with troubleshooting the recognition by following the steps in here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
If after getting that running again, you still can't connect to the iTunes Store, then I'd go through the troubleshooting steps in here:

It says it's syncing the iPod Touch, but it takes a really long time, and after a while, iTunes "stopped responding." I can view my iTunes account, but that's it. It says it's connecting to the store, but the loading bar starts around half-way and after a while it'll act like it finished loading, but the window is blank. HELP!!

  • After the last update my iTunes won't connect to the store

I'm not sure what happened but after my iTunes updated to version 10.5 I can't connect to the store.  I called in once and the person had me uninstall itunes and a few other things and then reinstall and it worked for a day and then iTunes updated again for some reason and once again I can't connect to the store.  Any suggestions?

Hey, I had the same problem with the itunes not connecting to the store thing, I recommend checking your firewall and stuff make sure itunes (or safari) is not blocked, if everything is ok with that (apple apps not blocked), Uninstall Itunes, safari, quicktime icloud and whatever apple app you have on your computer. and get an earlier version.... the problem in some cases? Apple Application Support on itunes 10/quicktime 7 and later, a flaw that apple has to work on I recommend downloading a earlier version of itunes

I see you're running Windows 98.  Are you using a version of iTunes that connects to the store?  You need a relatively new version.

  • ITunes won't connect to the store, home sharing, or Cloud.

I just got an iPhone, and since I've had a touch before, I know how to use iTunes. Didn't have it on this computer, so I downloaded it, set it up, etc. Now I'm trying to sign into the iTunes store and it insists I have no internet connection. Uh, obviously I do because my browser is working fine, and I just downloaded the program itself. Specifically, it says "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unknown error ocurred. (-3212) Make sure your internet connection is active and try again."
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Did I download a wrong version? I'm using Windows 8, I'm running Adblock and Norton, and I have a few games on here. I'm pretty good with computers, but this is stumping me, and everything I've tried isn't working.

    maybe its norton/adblock...just guessing

  • After updating Itunes...Itunes cannot connect to the server, get error message -3212

I upgraded to Itunes 11.1.0.126 yesterday....
Getting this message when I check for updates: "The Itunes update server could not be contacted.  Please check your internet connection, or try again later."
Also, I get this error message, when trying to connect to the Itunes Store:   "Itunes could not connect to the Itunes Store.  An unknown error occurred.  (-3212)"
I also upgraded my Iphone 4 to iOS 7 yesterday.
Wish I would have left well enough alone....Anybody else having these issues?  Thankyou.

    Seems to be working now....

  • Cant connect to Music Store displays error message

When I try to connect to the music store it says "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. An unknown error occurred (-3221)" I have tryed to fix it for months. dose anyone know whats up?
PS: im thinking of selling my ipod to get a differnt brand of mp3 player.

Problems connecting to the iTunes Music Store often stem from issues with the Windows firewall, a privacy filter (such as McAfee Internet Privacy Service or Norton Internet Security) or a download accelerator. Start here:
iTunes for Windows: Overview of Music Store Errors
for some basic tips to start isolating the cause of the problem. What you need to do is temporarily disable any such service and see if that fixes the problem. If so, then if it's a firewall/Internet filter that's causing the problem and you'll need to set the offending service to allow iTunes to connect to the iTunes Music Store.
Another possibility is an erroneous entry in the Hosts file. This tip from Mark Holly resolved problem for another poster (please note that I have not tried this fix so I cannot vouch for nor support the suggestion: I provide it only as a suggestion that worked for someone else):
NOTE: this will change a Windows operating system file. This could cause you problems if not done correctly.
Using Windows Explorer navigate to the following folder:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.
In this folder is file called 'hosts'. Open it using Wordpad.
On the poster's pc there was in this file one long line. At the end of this line was "127.0.0.1 phobos.apple.com:. phobos.apple.com is the web address for the music store. What "127.0.0.1 phobos.apple.com" is doing is telling the pc to look for the web address only on the computer rather than the internet. By remove this section of the line and saving the changes you may then be able to access the music store without any problems.
IMPORTANT: Before making the changes to the hosts file I highly recommend making a backup of it. That way you can restore the original if other problems occur.
    Hope this helps.
