Itunes doesn't minimize to a toolbar anymore

I didn't really notice when this functionality went away because I had just went to 64-bit Windows XP at the time, but it coincides with iTunes 7. Now I'm on Vista 64-bit and there is still no option to do so: when I right-click the taskbar and click on Toolbars, there is no option for iTunes.
Like I said, when I used 32 bit Windows XP Home, I had an option to run iTunes as a toolbar next to my start button. It was very convenient this way, but now I'm forced to use it in miniplayer mode.
Any help?

no. there used to be a way to minimize itunes so that it appeared as its own toolbar on the windows taskbar.
to see what i'm talking about, right click the taskbar, choose Toolbars -> and you should get a list (Address, Windows Media Player, Links, Quick Launch, etc.) of available toolbars. itunes used to be an option in that list for me. however, i can't figure out whether that's just my new 64 bit operating system or if that was a feature that went away when itunes 7 was released.
no one seems to remember this feature though, and that's half the problem.

Windows recognises the ipod touch only as a digitalcamera.

  • ITunes doesn't backup my iPhone 3Gs anymore? (randomly stopped)

Recently, i've had the problem of iTunes being unable to backup my iPhone 3Gs.
It's worked perfectly fine, up until the iOS5 update came out. I attempted to download the update, but it seemed to mess with my phone instead. The software wasn't downloaded at all, and instead it cause my phone to refuse to backup. I was still able to sync my phone then, but it came up with this error message:
"iTunes could not back up iPhone because the backup could not be saved on the computer"
I read the discussions online, and some troubleshooting forums on here about how to fix this issue, but nothing worked. Someone suggested that it meant the backup was corrupt, and that deleting that backup from iTunes ('Edit > Preferences > Devices'), as well as from my computer (C:/users/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/MobileSync/Backup), in order for it to make a completely new back up was the way to fix it, so I tried that... but now, my phone can't even sync, and it just made the problem worse -_-
I connect it to iTunes, and it identifies my phone and understands it's there, but when I click sync or backup (right clicking my phone in the 'Devices' side pannel and selecting 'backup') it says: "Syncing "iPhone" (Step 1 of 5) Backing up" and it doesn't move from there. I get a loading bar, and it stays in the same spot, the whole time it's plugged in - even when I unplug it, it still thinks my iPhone is connected, and still says it's trying to backup (Step 1 of 5).
iTunes has attempted to make another backup folder in 'C:/users/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/MobileSync/Backup' for me, and it's named the same, just like my last iPhone backup folder... but I don't understand why, if it's made a folder, why it can't backup my phone in iTunes?
In addition, I can't connect to the iTunes store anymore. It only loads half way when I select the 'iTunes Store' in the side bar. I'm not sure if it's connected to the 'backup' issue i'm also having, but I thought it was worth mentioning. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program many times, yet nothing seems to fix either of my problems. Being unable to connect to the iTunes store had occured once before for me, but uninstalling and reinstalling it MANY times fixed the issue... however, spontaneously, connecting to the iTunes store became and issue again after some time. :/
    PLEASE. HELP.

I had iTunes, AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe, and APSDaemon or something (Apple Push) and they plugged up 100% of my resources. I could not access the store, either. Reinstalled in order per apple support many times. Nothing worked
    I did this:
    http://www.thebambers.me.uk/wordpress/?p=316
Just typed this in the command prompt, rebooted, and it worked!
    netsh winsock reset
    Abra Kadabra! Good luck all!
By the way, it took an extra moment for internet to reconnect, but once it did, I was back!!!!

  • ITunes will not minimize to a toolbar after iPod has been connected!

I love the feature in iTunes that lets me minimize iTunes to the toolbar (right click on the clock, toolbars-iTunes), however recently, possibly after the last iTunes update, iTunes does not even respond to the minimize button after the iPod has been connected, no matter which window that I am in.
    What can I do?
    Thanks!

  • ITunes doesn't display the "Info" tab anymore when I sync with my iPhone.

When I connect my phone to iTunes, I can't access the options listed under the Info tab, because the Info tab isn't there anymore. For some reason my iPhone has lost all my contacts and I need to put them back on my phone during a sync.

You signature shows you have Mac OS X 10.7.4.
If you do not have an Info tab in iTunes, you have Mac OS X 10.9.
You sync Contacts & Calendars using iCloud, not iTunes.

  • ITunes doesn't accept my iPod touch anymore. Help?

I am not sure if this is an iTunes problem, an iPod touch problem, or a combination of the two. Everytime I plug in my iPod touch, I have to restore it to factory settings, and then repurchase anything I bought on the iPod before I plugged it in. This is the third time in a row that this problem has happened, and I am getting frustrated. Help?

  • ITunes doesn't sync all my contacts anymore

I used to sync my iPhone 3G with my MacBook Pro (Agenda, Mail, iCal) with no problem. Then items from agenda and iCal began to appear duplicated. Couldn't find how to get rid of duplicates, so I deleted them by hand (one by one!). Next sync ... and now I have 600 contacts in my Mac, but 295 in my iPhone; 928 songs in my Mac, but 915 in my iPhone). I've tried everything I can think of (basically changing settings and restoring my iPhone) but nothing happens. After some syncs even a message appeared: "iPhone can not be syncronized because a disk is needed" or something of that sort.
Anyone who can help? It would be REALLY appreciated!

While navigating through other threads looking for similar problems, I found this reply from Winston Churchill:

Ensure that iCloud syncing is turned on on both devices.
Check your contacts are in the iCloud account in your address book and not in the On My Phone account. You might also take a look at this User Tip, to ensure you understand the differences between the different accounts in Address Book before adding the contacts back.
I checked on his User Tip note, and learned about iCloud accounts in Address Book. I realized I had iCloud contacts that were not in My Mac contacts... Don't ask me why, I swear I didn't create that iCloud account (at least I didn't do it knowingly, I don't use iCloud for I have an iPhone 3G). Anyways, I dragged all of my "iCloud contacts" to My Mac contacts... syncronized... solved. Thanks, Winston Churchill!

  • Itunes doesn't play the video anymore

Help! ITunes doesn't play the video clips anymore just the sound works.
I've restarted, quit the other applications but no result.
    What can I do ?
    Thank you for your suggestions.
    ITunes 8.1
    QuickTime 7.6
    Mac OS 10.5.6
    Mac Pro 2x3 GHz
    RAM 8 Go

If you are playing through remote speakers, iTunes 8.1 will not play the video. Previous versions would play fine using only the computer's speakers, but 8.1 requires the remote airtunes speakers be deselected.

  • Itunes doesn't sync due to lack of memory

Hi, my iTunes doesn't synch my ipod touch anymore due to the fact that the ipod lacks the memory to import. In the past, it would make a special playlist for my ipod, but iTunes doesn't even give this option anymore.
Does anyone have an idea how i can force itunes to make this playlist again?
Sorry for my crappy english, but i'm not used to typing english anymore

Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -My iPod for example (the dash will position it at the top of the playlists in Sources). You can make it a smart playlist that picks the songs for you or just a normal one and drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
    Syncing Music to iPod
To make a random playlist you could adapt this example to suit the capacity of your iPod (this one is for a 4GB Model). Go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the smart playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection. When you want to change the normal playlist just delete out what you don't want and drag in a new selection.

  • PowerPC G5 itunes doesn't reconize iphone

My computer PowerPC G5  is running on OS 10.5.8 and itunes is up to date, but itunes doesn't reconize my iphone 4s anymore. When I plug in my phone my computer thinks it is a camera. When I open itunes it doesn't show up on the task bar.

  • My iTunes doesn't keep track of my listening history anymore. It doesn't update play counts and default "Recently Played" playlist.

My iTunes doesn't keep track of my listening history anymore. It doesn't update play counts and default "Recently Played" playlist. But it still tracking plays from my iPhone and syncing them.
I've tried to repair it with setup file. Nothing's changed.
Can you help me with that?
NOTE: Now I tried disabling the crossfade feature and it worked, started to count again. But I like crossfade, I don't want to keep it off.

I think I got this figured out. The playcount does update, but not how the previous iPod models update their playcount. Instead of immediately updating the playcount right after you finish the song like the older iPod models, iPod Touch keeps the updates in memory. The next time you connect to iTunes it'll sync those playcounts in memory to the actual songs itself, effectively updating the playcount of the songs only after connecting to iTunes. I have set my syncing manually. That's why after connecting to iTunes, my playcounts are updated. BUT it doesn't solve the mystery of my Smart Playlist. Even though in iTunes, the correct songs are listed, in the iPod Touch, it shows the old playlist.
Don't you just hate that? It was working fine before on non-iPod touch models. Now we have to live with this new bug. I just hope when they release software 2.0 it fixes these bugs and that they *give it for free!* People shouldn't be charged on something they should have gotten as a support!

  • ITunes doesn't find my music files on external drive anymore

I have some 15.000 music files on an external hard drive. I added them to my iTunes library and added also a lot of extra info (titles, genres, albums covers, etc.).
After a great New Year's Party, where several people "played" with my iTunes playlists, for some reason iTunes doesn't sees / recognises the music files on the external hard drive anymore.
What can I do? I don't want to import the music files all over again. Otherwise I loose all the info I added in the past year. And it is undoable to find the music files one-by-one on the external drive. That would take months.
    Who can help?

Select one track in your library that is currently missing in action. Press CTRL-I to Get Info then look at the Where: entry on the Summary tab. You should get something along the lines of:
    file://localhost/<path 1>/<Artist>/<Album>/## <Name>.<ext>
    e.g. file://localhost/D:/iTunes/iTunes Music/Arcade Fire/Funeral/01 Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels).mp3
The true path will be something else of the form:
    <path 2>\<Artist>\<Album>\## Name.<ext>
    e.g. D:\iTunes\iTunes Music\Music\Arcade Fire\Funeral\01 Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels).mp3
Comparing the two paths should reveal what needs to be done to put music back where iTunes "expects" to find it. The examples show the different default locations before and after the upgrade to iTunes Media Organisation. I've seen problems before with the way iTunes manages this upgrade so that it occasionally reorganizes the files but then carries on looking for them in the old location. It is also surprising how easy it is sometimes to accidentally move a folder without noticing. Alternatively Windows may simply have switched the drive letter for your external drive. Windows Media Player is more resilient in these circumstances.
If you can give the two locations for a sample file I can probably suggest what will need doing to put things right.
