ITunes doesn't open when iPod Touch is connected
I have iTunes 8.0. When I connect the iPod touch, nothing happens. If I manually open iTunes, it begins to backup and sync. I have the box checked on the summary page for the iPod Touch that says "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected". I already trashed and reinstalled iTunes.
I was surprised too, but I guess nobody gave a cr*p. I figured it out on my own. Basically, sync, then uncheck the box for the option to open iTunes when that iPod is hooked up, sync again, then check the box, and sync one last time. A dialog box pops up that asks if it's OK to install "iTunes Helper". Say "yes". Now it works.

ITunes Won't Open When Ipod Touch is Connected
This issue randomly started happening with iTunes 8 about a week ago. If I connect my iTouch to my computer, iTunes will load in the task manager, but not on my desktop. This also happens if I check "automatically open iTunes when iPod is connected"'
The strange thing is- if I open iTunes BEFORE connecting my ipod, and then connecting it after, everything works fine.
I've confirmed that all the additional programs are running in the task manager (iTuneshelper, exe, etc) when I connected the ipod before opening itunes. I've also tried reinstalling all Apple programs (iTunes, Quicktime, etc), and resetting the settings on my iTouch, but nothing works.
Any ideas, and thanks for your help.FWIW i get this now and then on my winblows 'puter and just chalk it up to that. I've flushed caches and queues and rebooted and all that who-ha and quite frankly when it locks up it ticks me off to no end ('cuz it SHOULDNT do that) but i have a cold one and figure they have kindergartners doing the system programming nowadays and go from there.

ITunes does not open when iPod Touch is connected
Prior to iTunes 9, I could connect my first-gen iPod Touch and iTunes would open automatically. It does not do that anymore.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Thanks,
vidgdeggie: Thanks, re-installing iTunes worked. There must have been a problem with the mobile devise part of the program. Funny - re-installing is the remedy of choice. I must be getting old. Anyway thanks.

Itunes doesn't open when ipod connects to pc
Itunes won't open automatically when I connect to my pc. I have to to click on the itunes icon. I have the box checked marked to open automatically under options.
gta129,
Do you have iTunesHelper set to start up when you login? To check if it's in the list of login items:
1. Open System Preferences.
2. Click the Accounts pane.
3. Select your user.
4. Click the Login Items tab.
5. See if iTunes Helper is listed here.
Hope this helps,

Itunes 11.4 freezing when ipod touch 5 connected to windows 7 64bit
Every time the iPod touch 5th generation is connected to ITunes in Windows 7 64 bit, the stupid iTunes freezes. The only way to unfreeze is to disconnect it. This problem has been going for a very long time. Upgrading iTunes does nothing. ITunes 11.4 does not fix the problem. There is no way to sync iPod touch with windows 7. This getting very frustrating. When is someone going to post a fix that permanently fixes this problem that has existed for a long time. Anyone got a brain that works?
A few months ago someone posted a fix that required to disable a windows update that work for a while. Now iTunes is back to its old freezing behaviors. Fix it Apple now!..This is a useless reply. It does not work. Uninstalling and reinstalling does nothing to fix it. Itunes always freezes when Ipod is connected. This is a problem with Windows 7 64bit and is very common problem. Itunes doesn't want to cooperate with 64bit windows. If you search the internet, lots are having the same problem. This problem has existed for 10 years. Every new version of itunes never fixes the problem. Why can't Apple and Microsoft work together to fix the issue. This is unacceptable. Apple software designers are very lazy and stupid.

Aperture 2 opening when iPod Touch is connected
It used to happen with Aperture 1 and it was very annoying. Every time I plugged my iPod Touch into my Mac Aperture opened as if it were a camera. It was eliminated with an update but now it's happening again. Any way to stop this or do I just have to wait for Apple to fix it... again?
molib is right. I just tested it with one photo in the saved folder and then after deleting it. That's still pretty inconvenient. for a slightly more complicated fix, see here:

ITunes doesn't open when launched or takes several minutes to open
Just like the title says, iTunes doesn't open when I click the shortcut in the Start menu. It appears in the windows task manager under proccesses as 'iTunes.exe *32'. Sometimes it will open 10-15 minutes later. It worked just fine until a few weeks ago. I have tried running as Administrator, I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling multiple times. Not sure what else I can do. I need to use iTunes to synce my mom's iPhone 4S and my iPod touch 3 Generation. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Itunes doesn't open when i plug in my iphone
iTunes doesn't open when i plug in my iPhone
You may have an incomplete iTunes installation. Uninstall your iTunes and Re-install again.
If this still fails, try the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch -

ITunes crashing (only when iPod Touch is connected)
It just started last night. Anytime I try to add music to the library or choose the folder to sync photos from, basically anytime iTunes has to access explorer to browse folder, it crashes and it doesn't give me any sort of error. It just tells me it has crashed and is reporting the problem. Like I said though, this only happens when the iPod Touch is connected. If I unplug it and then add music, it works fine but without it plugged in I can't add photos. Also, if I already have iTunes open and then connect the iPod, it crashes. I have to have the iPod already connected and then I can open iTunes.
Any ideas? I switched to using iTunes as my default player because WMP had too many issues. I don't want to have to go back.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
iPod: 32GB iPod Touch 3rd generation on latest official firmwareMore info: iTunes generates a standard WinXP Send Error Report/Don't Send error message.
The Error Signature is:
AppName: itunes.exe
AppVer: 8.0.2.20
ModName: quicktime.qts
ModVer: 7.55.90.70
Offset: 009fd1a7
I tried on another PC. Same crash. It seems either the problem is on the iPod Touch side, or some more general problem with iTunes. -
ITunes doesn't open when I connect my iPhone
i upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. Since then every time I connect my iPhone, iTunes doesn't open automatically. And the phone restarts every time I connect to computer. Please help.
One other thing to check. When you plug in your iPhone, open iTunes to sync it, and on the Summary Page for the iPhone, look near the bottom of it for the Options section. Put a check in the box that says: Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected. That should automatically open iTunes and start the syncing every time you connect it to the computer. Hope this does it for you.

ITunes doesn't launch when iPod is connected
It used to but suddenly stopped. It does show up on the device list. The option box is checked. I've turned the iPod off and even restarted my Mac. It launches iPhoto, but not iTunes. I've got the latest version of iTunes.
Try here:

ITunes does not open when ipod connected
Since installing the 1.1 update, iTunes does not open when I connect my nano to the computer. Both computer and iTunes (when I manually open it) recognize the nano, so no big deal. Just wondering how to make iTunes automatically open.
Sometimes the Preferences get corrupt - if you set them off and then back on that sometimes clears the problem.
