If you haven't already done these steps, this section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.

I was trying to update itunes on my computer that has windows vista. during the update I received an error message; so I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it. the instatlation process stopped with this message: "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify thta you have sufficient priviledges to start system services." I have used an ipad 2 since 2011 and have never had a problem with my itunes account or my ipad until now.

Normal update of iTunes to 11.1.4 fails. Suggests installing from web site
I install from iTunes.com. Install issues the messages:
Service "Apple Mobile Device' failed to start.
Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services
I do have necessary privilegs. I hit ignore. See window with successful install come up and finish with launch. I get the messages:
iTunes was not installed correctly.
Please reinstall iTunes
Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Tring to start iTunes from desktop gives:
This application failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found
Re-installing the application may fix the problem.
Further repair or remove/reinstall does not fix the problem (including after reboot)
Thie is the first time this has happened. I'm not sure where to go from here

Can't install latest Itunes, error "service apple mobile device failed to start
I just finished reinstalling Windows 7 64bit and I am in the process of trying to install the latest Itunes and it gives me a few errors during the install process. First error is "HRESULT: 0x80070BC9", it also had some other stuff before that but didn't take the time to post it. I click ok and the install process starts over again and gives me a different error which says "Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start, make sure you have sufficient privliges to start system services." I click on ignore since I don't have any apple mobile devices and the installation continues on until it gives me the first error again and will eventually quit.
I downloaded the file from Itunes website like I always have in the past and never had any trouble. Could this have something to do with me just finishing reinstalling Windows? Is there something that needs to be installed in order to install Itunes?

Yeah, the 1935 errors referencing 0x80070BC9 (you're getting a 1935 error even though the iTunes installer doesn't return that error message number with the message) can be associated with having Windows Updates still stuck in the pipe, or pending completion until the PC restarts. Keep stocking up on the updates, restarting the PC whenever requested to do so. Once you're up to date, can you do the iTunes update? -
not able to install itunes in windows 7. I receive a massage that a new version of ITunes was available (11.1.4). I proceeded to update, the download went ok but when installing the Message “Service ’Apple Mobile Device’ failed to start, verify that you have sufficient Privileges to start system Services”
On pressing retry I got the same message.
On pressing Ignore, I got the message “ITunes was not installed correctly, please reinstall ITunes – Error 7 – (windows error 126)
I reinstalled with the same error messages and the same results.
I uninstalled existing and reinstalled from scratch and the same error messages again.
I try to repair and at the end it said it had installed correctly – but when it tried to start I got the message “This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem” I now get the same message when I first start the computer but when I press ok I receive ““ITunes was not installed correctly; please reinstall ITunes – Error 7 – (windows error 126)” again.
It appears the update has not only corrupted the operating system (Xp Pro SP3) of my computer but I have no backups to my IPhone, my wife’s IPhone or the three others phones that use my computer.

While installing the latest iTunes version I get the following msg:"Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start.Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services. I already tried it from the installer Running it as Administrator and still get the same message. I click "ignore" and finish the installation but when I try to open it I get this "Runtime Error! R6034 An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly." During Itunes installation on my Windows 7 64 bit computer.. I get the following message which won't allow installation:
Service "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
This occurred after an itunes update to my computer that produced a corrupted msvcr80.dll file. So I deleted Itunes and reinstalled.Redo the install, following the below procedure. However, when you re-install Itunes, right click and run the install as administrator. For Win 7, I think you have to hold down the shift key when you right click and then "run as administrator" will be an option.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
