ITunes doesn't recognize any of my 3 iPods. Tried almost everything...

Hi, yesterday I came home and my little brother came to me saying "iTunes doesen't work" When I checked, it did work but when I plugged my 2GB iPod Nano, iTunes didn't recognize it. I went back to my room and grabbed my other 30GB 5th Gen. iPod with video. Same problem, it didn't recognized it. I checked My Computer and the iPod was there. I tried with my brother's 30GB iPod w/video and same problem. This was with version 7.1 so I updated to 7.2 but the problem persisted. I'll list here the things I've tried.
-Updating.
-Completely removing iTunes and Quicktime.
-Erasing my TEMP directory.
-Running iTunes with no background applications.
Then, I tried resetting the iPod service. I right-clicked on My Computer, Manage, Services, but there was no ipod service listed.
In iTunes, I ran an iPod diagnostic and the ipod service was in green! Everything was in green except iPod connectivity!! Please help me here im running out of ideas!

Have you tried holding the centr button and menu. This will force a shutdown.

Thanks so much for following up, Laura. It's greatly appreciated. Do you have specific notification set up for specific apps such as messages, email, samsung calendar and the ringer? If so, is the notification sound custom to one of these specific apps?

Itunes doesn't see any of my three Ipods

So after years of hassle-free ITunes, I'm pulling my hair out. Installed Snow Leopard last week, very shortly thereafter Itunes starting hanging alot. Won't recognize my three ipods (nano's and a 60Gb, older versions) but oddly does recognize my Itouch.
I have trashed Itunes and reinstalled, no luck. Have tried all the various wires/ports, but I know which wires worked where in the paste and so am confident that is not the problem. Only change has been to upgrade to Snow Leopard this last week.
Some kind soul, please help?

Okay, something was wrong but did get repaired
Then I ran Disk Repair again and only got:

That's nothing to worry about.
That didn't fix the problem (same as before, Itunes hung when I plugged in an IPOD).
So I tried the second suggestion, i.e. changing the read only to read and write. That made Itunes mad. Now whenever I open Itunes, it hangs immediately. I changed back the permissioning, but Itunes still hangs whenever it opens. So, I tried (a) recreating Itunes libary and playlists (from apple boards) - no luck, Itunes hangs as soon as Itunes reopened and (b) trashing Itunes 8.2.1.6 and installing 9.0.2 - no luck, still hangs as soon as opened. Very weird!!
So I have Time Machine doing a back-up of my drives, never tried using it. It is time to try?
I'm not sure making a backup of a troubled system will be useful. You should have TM backups of your pre-problem system in order to be of help.
Or some other thoughts? Maybe trashing all of Itunes per http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224 and then trying to reinstall? I am just concerned I lose all my playlists and such.
I'm in the office right now and working with an XP machine. But you can export your playlist(s) to a safe location and re-import them later. Highlight the playlist you'd like to save and then check for the export option. I expect it will be under the file menu. Also backup (maybe to a USB stick) the folders such as +album artwork+, +previous iTunes libraries+ etc.

Yes and yes. Try that and repair permissions. restart your machine and re-install iTunes (latest version). put the backed up folders etc back in the usual place (eventually overwriting was has been recreated there). import your playlists and connect one of your iPods.

I have an iPod Nano 7th generation, and I keep getting an error saying that iTunes could not recognize my device. I have tried nearly everything,except I don't have admin rights on the computer, and really need help.

My iTunes doesn't recognize my iPod at all.The iPod charges on the computer perfectly but iTunes doesn't recognize it (as in the iPod doesnt show up in iTunes) which makes it impossible to download songs to the iPod. That worked for me, too! I had been so frustrated because I tried everything else, then I finally just reset it (holding menu & center button until Apple Inc. logo showed up, and it worked!

ITunes doesn't recognize either of my iPods

I downloaded the latest update recently and since then iTunes doesn't recognize either of my two iPod touches (4th gen), even though the computer does. My iPad (1st gen) is still recognized normally. I tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it several times, and that didn't work. The iPods are recognized by iTunes on other computers. The computer in question runs windows 8.1, if that makes a difference. From the look of these forums it looks like I'm not the only one who has this problem. Please help.

iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone 4s.
Whenever I plug my iPhone into my computer it starts to charge like normal but iTunes does not recognize it. I've tried all of the troubleshooting steps provided by Apple (Downloading the latest iTunes version, reinstalling iTunes, updating the software on my phone, restarting my computer, etc). I've also looked at various tutorials on different websites that showed other methods. Among these methods were going into the control panel Device Manager or the Services program and taking certain steps within said programs. It seems I have tried everything under the sun to get iTunes to recognize my iPhone and so far nothing has worked. I have no idea what to do which is why I've resorted to this. Anybody know what might be going on? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on my computer with the latest iTunes installed as previously stated. I've also just installed iOS 5.1.1 on my iPhone and this has not changed anything. If anyone has any idea what is going on and would like to tell me how to fix it, it would be much appreciated. If you've gone through this article and made sure the Apple Mobile device service is installed and running, you should look at the security software on your computer.
To make sure it isn't the security software, you can either follow the steps in the article below, or you could just uninstall it and test again. Then reinstall it again when you're done.

ITunes doesn't recognize my IPod Nano 7th Generation. I get a message saying "An IPod has been detected but could not be identified properly". My Windows 7 computer shows the IPod Nano as a removable drive until I launch ITunes at which point it disappears from the list of removable drives. I sent hours trying to upgrade my Iphone 3gs to io5 and now Itunes doesn't recognize the phone sim card, I only have a message saying 'There is no sim card in the Iphone you are trying to activate'. Iphone is no longer under warranty, so I don't know what to do if doesn't work any more.
