Itunes doesn't recognize my Iphone 4, vibrates twice when i plug it in and then only charges.

Started after I updated to the new itunes, i have tried reinstalling itunes but that does nothing. I have also tried to use a different cable. I'm using a Windows 8.1 computer.

I fixed it by uninstall all apple programs had on my computer and then reinstalling itunes.

iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone 4s.
Whenever I plug my iPhone into my computer it starts to charge like normal but iTunes does not recognize it. I've tried all of the troubleshooting steps provided by Apple (Downloading the latest iTunes version, reinstalling iTunes, updating the software on my phone, restarting my computer, etc). I've also looked at various tutorials on different websites that showed other methods. Among these methods were going into the control panel Device Manager or the Services program and taking certain steps within said programs. It seems I have tried everything under the sun to get iTunes to recognize my iPhone and so far nothing has worked. I have no idea what to do which is why I've resorted to this. Anybody know what might be going on? I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on my computer with the latest iTunes installed as previously stated. I've also just installed iOS 5.1.1 on my iPhone and this has not changed anything. If anyone has any idea what is going on and would like to tell me how to fix it, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

If you've gone through this article and made sure the Apple Mobile device service is installed and running, you should look at the security software on your computer.
To make sure it isn't the security software, you can either follow the steps in the article below, or you could just uninstall it and test again. Then reinstall it again when you're done.

  • I just installed update version 11.1.4.62.  Now Itunes doesn't recognize my iphone or ipad.  My wife just installed the same version with the same result.  The problem is clearly a problem with itunes.  What's wrong with itunes?

I was running the previous version of itunes and it worked perfectly.  I just installed the latest version of itunes (version 11.1.4.62) and restarted the PC and now itunes doesn't recognize my iphone or my ipad.  I'm running Windows 8.1 on my pc.  I tried diagnostics to no avail.  The diagnostic didn't recognize either device.  As the directions advised, I closed itunes, disconnected the devices and stopped and restarted the apple  mobile device service,  That didn't work either.  My wife, who also has Windows 8.1, has the same problem.  She installed the new version and it doesn't recognize her devices.
Until now, itunes has been totally reliable.  I am convinced the problem is with itunes.  Where do I go from here?

I resolved the issue by doing the following:
    1. Uninstall iTunes and every Apple application (device support and such).
    2. Uninstall bonjour.
    3. Reboot.
    4. Go to Apple and install iTunes.
It worked.  When I opened iTunes (after reinstalling) it recognized all my devices, music and video.

  • I have an iPhone 5s on a windows 8 platform. iTunes is 11.1.4.62, iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone and I am unable to sync.

I have an iPhone 5s on a windows 8 platform. iTunes is 11.1.4.62, iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone and I am unable to sync. After the last iTunes update my phone wasn't recongnized and the phone asks if I want to trust the computer everytime I connect it. Other programs can access the photos and recognize the iPhone 5 but not iTunes.

Try holding down CTRL as you launch iTunes to see if it will repair the drivers.
    Or try Cerbu's post here.
Or see TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows, in particular section 5, forcing a driver update.

I have already done the troubleshooting, like dowloaded the newest version of iTunes and Mac OS, started again the computer and so on, but it doesn't help me at all. Is iPhone 3G too old for recognizening, beacuse it can't be updated to iOS 6? Please help me! Thank you.

I upgraded my iTunes to 10.7 on my MacBook Pro - after that iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone 4S 6.0.1 (10A523) in the iTunes sidebar. Solutions?
(Both upgrades to the phone and lap-top were done based on Apples suggestion, so I find it strange it doesn't work automatically, which should be a basic reason for choosing Apples costly products!)

    Try rebooting your computer.
You might also try downloading and installing iTunes 11 which came out today.

    Hi there beee19,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Check USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

  • Why does my phone have to vibrate twice when I plug in the charger

I have had an iphone 5 for about a year now and I am very disappointed with Apple and will be changing to a different phone as soon as I can. The fact that apple makes the phone vibrate twice when I plug in a third party charger is obsurd. The apple charger is much worse and breaks sooner than the thrid party charger, but since apple want to make money they are forcing a notification that says this charger may not work properly (actually works better than apples charger) and causes the double vibrate.
They also failed in reconizing a computer, as I have to verify that I trust my home computer everytime I plug it in, also causing a double vibrate. It can't remeber that it has been plugged into this computer many times?
Very disapointed in apples ability to live up to the high end cost of their devices and I will definetly be switching to a different device (which has also made me decide to not buy other apple products)
It would be nice if they would address this problem as it affects every iphone and is a huge negative to ergonomics and functionality of the product.

  • ITunes doesn't recognize my iPhone -- Help!

    Reaching out for help....
iTunes does not recognize my iPhone. Given the number of threads and help documents, this may not sound new - the baffling part is that it DOES recognize my iPod, but not my iPhone.
I am running Windows Vista on a Mac Pro using Bootcamp. Itunes works as it should in every other respect - it connects with an Airport base station, it recognizes and syncs with an iPod, etc. etc. - but no luck at all with my iPhone.
Things I have alread tried include....
    - reinstalling iTunes (multiple times, making sure to clean up the remnants, etc.)
    - stop and start (and reinstall) the Apple Mobile Devices service
    - reinstall all Apple products (i.e. quicktime, updater, etc.)
    - use different USB ports (have tried them all)
    - fully charged iPhone
Frankly, can't think of (nor find anything) else to do!
FYI, not an iPhone issue, iTunes running in Mac OSX (on same computer) recognizes it fine, and iTunes running in vista (in a different computer) also recognizes it with no problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Help!!!

    THANKS ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
After weeks of struggling with this issue, and having tried the solutions listed in this and other discussions; I finally was able to resolve the issue on my pc (Mac Pro running Vista with Boot Camp) by uninstalling both iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support, rebooting, disabling my antivirus, disconnecting other usb stuff - then, from within device manager updating the driver for the iPhone by manually searching in the C:/program files/common files/apple directory.
You may want to jump ahead to trying the driver update right off the bat (dont know if my efforts preceding that contributed to the solution).
