Itunes doesnt work after system restore

Hey i just downloaded the latest version on itunes a few days ago. I opened the program once and it worked well. Then yesterday i had a problem with my pc and i did a sytem restore. Now my itunes doesn't work. Whenever the try opening it this is the message i get:
The new file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
If any one could help me i'd appreciate it

Unfortunately, when you System Restored over the top of the iTunes install, it may have dropped old program files from iTunes and related components back on the PC. So you may have old iTunes componentry trying to open the new library.
I'd try a complete uninstall and reinstall of iTunes and related componentry on the PC, with a slight modification. The basic technique is given in:
[Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923]
The modification is that when you are working through the *Verify iTunes and related components are completely uninstalled* section, in addition to the program files and folders mentioned there (such as "iTunes" and "BonJour"), you might see program folders called "iTunes (2)" or iTunes (3)" or "BonJour (2)" and so on. Also delete such folders with the names of Apple software with numbers and parentheses.

Itunes will no longer startup or uninstall/reinstall after i recently did a system restore on my laptop i can get it running by opening a song, and it works fine then, but its an old version cos i cant update! looked everywhere for a solution and cant find one anywhere!
    Thanks

    (c) the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'itunes.msi' in the box below
    Use source
    C:\DOCUME1\Alex\locals1\Temp\IXP267.TMP\
Okay, given that the QuickTime seems to be working fine, that iTunes message is probably the key to this.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. Run the utility, find the iTunes entry in the list of programs that show up in CleanUp, and remove the iTunes entry.

Reboot the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? If so, does iTunes launch properly again?

  • Itunes not working after system restore

hey i searched this and found nothing helpful.
i did a system restore before and now my itunes won't open. it shows a message that tells me it can't open. i've reinstalled and uninstalled and everything i can think of...
how can i fix this and make itunes work again?

If you have an HP, you need to goto Hp.com and download a patch for your model of PC, alot of there PCs have issues with iTUnes after using there software to do a restore. If you have another brand, check there site.

  • ITunes Not Working After I Restored My iPod Touch

I went on iTunes and clicked "restore" which caused some error message to pop up that told me to re install iTunes. Thus putting me on the currently 4 hour path of trying to get iTunes to work. First it said I needed avfoundationcf.dll or something. Then after downloading a bunch of stuff that claimed to want to help but repeatedly tried to charge me. Then the error messages starting telling me that I needed some dll files. I downloaded all the files that were asked of me from a website. The last file, icuin36.dll, installed normally (I assume) but the next error pop up box told me this:
    iTunes.exe - Bad Image
C:\Windowa\system32\icuin36.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
Then a second pop up box appears that says:
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please re install iTunes
    Error 9 (Windows Error 193)
This is where I am currently stuck. Any help would be dearly appreciated as I am on the verge of an aneurysm. Be sure to dumb down everything you say as I'm pretty stupid when it comes to computers.

If the music play OK in iTunes on your computer
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • HT4972 previously used apps won't work after system restore?ipod touch 2nd gen.?

My son forgot his passcode so I had to restore his ipod touch, 2nd gen.  After the restore, many of his apps no longer work.  He had Netflix, Facebook, Angry Birds.  They now all say they require ios 4.3 or 5.0.  Does anyone know how to get these apps back on his ipod?  thanks!

Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • Start and Start apps don't work after System Restore

Hey guys, I tried to install Andy (Android emulator) on my PC today and I had to reboot after the setup was complete. This time when booting up, my computer froze before login screen. I've restarted the computer several times, but no login screen.
So I used System Restore to restore my system (refresh point is 2 days old) and voila, everything works like it should...
Except for Start menu, Cortana & search bar and notifications. Restarting explorer.exe didn't fix the problem. Even Start menu apps like Music or Store don't work... Only way to open the Settings app is to click on my network connection icon. Help please!
    I'm using build 9926

..............So I used System Restore to restore my system (refresh point is 2 days old)...............
It is possible that you are missing the updates that were installed in that 2 days. You rolled back 2 days, now you need to reinstall those updates.
If you cannot use Start Menu, please follow this instruction given by Insider Hub......
Checking for updates may fix this problem. To check for updates without the Start menu, do the following:
    Select the Internet Explorer icon.
Type http://update.microsoft.com into the address bar and select
    Enter.
If you are prompted to run a control, click
    Yes or Confirm
This should bring up the Check for updates window. Install updates.
If no update is available, or the available updates don’t fix the issue, restart the device–this should make the Start menu appear. To reboot without using the Start menu:
Hold down the Windows key and select L to lock the device. Swipe up or select
Enter to open the sign in screen. Select the
Power icon on the log in screen to restart the computer.
    OR
Hold down the Windows key and select R to bring up a command prompt. In the prompt, type
    shutdown –r to restart
    Good luck.

  • Itunes went blank after system restore

i did a system restore this morning and now itunes is blank -- no music, albums, artists, nothing. all of the music i had stored in itunes still appears on my ipod classic. my question is how to get it back into the itunes library. is there a way to copy it from the ipod to itunes? or do i need to reinstall itunes? if i do that, will i lose all the music already on the ipod?

*is there a way to copy it from the ipod to itunes? ............if i do that, will i lose all the music already on the ipod?*
If your iPod is set to sync automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
If at any point you get a message that your iPod is linked to another library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Itunes doesnt work after upgrade from 6 to 7

i've recently upgraded to itunes 7...and it wont open now..i've installed both quicktime and itunes..and i've checked that quicktime IS 7.1.3 which is compatible...and after i double click the itunes icon..i get a licence agreement..then i click agree..and right after that i get a error msg saying "the itunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-200).
anyone experienced this before or hav the solution??
    many thanks
    ken

I have seen that error message before,
What you will want to try is uninstalling Quicktime from Add remove Programs,
Open up My Computer, Browse to C:\Program Files\ and delete the Quicktime folder (There may be more than one)
    Empty Recycle Bin and Restart
After the restart go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html and make sure that you select QuickTime 7.1.3 for Windows 2000/XP and download and install it.
That should take care of it.

  • Itunes recognizing ipod after system restore?

I recently had to restore my computer to factory settings due to a problem with a virus. I had to reload Itunes and now it doesn't recognize my ipod. I tried taking itunes off and reinstalling it with the updated version. It gives me an error message asking me if I want to replace the songs on my ipod with the ones in the new music library which are basically the ones that come with itunes.
How can I get the version of itunes that is on my computer now to recognize my ipod so I can get my songs into the music library and put songs I download onto it??
I hope someone can understand this, I apopogize for the confusion.

If you are unable to restore your iPhone with iTunes without having to enter the passcode, you will not be able to update your iPhone's backup. You will need to place the iPhone into recovery mode in order to restore the iPhone with iTunes and you can restore from the most recent backup available.

    Hello pichastos,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where your camera is displaying a black screen, please follow the information outlined below.
You see a closed lens or black screen
If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, try these steps:
Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.
Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again.
Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.
If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping  (camera swap icon). If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.
Get help with the camera on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Take care,
    Alex H.
