ITunes don't want to play my unmarked tracks

There's certainly a little mouse click to solve this.
I have a 8GB iPod and I can't store all my music tracks on it. For that reason I unmark the tracks I don't want to transfer using the option to only transfer marked tracks. But! The problem is that when I play music in iTunes, it only play tracks which are marked.
Example:
I have an album which is unmarked and below there's only marked tracks. I disable the shuffle option.
If I play the first track of my unmarked album, after finishing the track it will jump to the next track which is marked. Therefore I can't listen to that album... boring.
Sum up, when shuffling my library it will never play my unmarked tracks.
Would be nice to have a solution for this.

Hi,
The purpose of the checkmark is to avoid iTunes playing them. Instead, to select which track you want on your iPod, I suggest that you set it to manually select the song you want. Then, you can build a playlist specially for your iPod and select this playlist to be synced to your iPod.
This is a very good way to manage your iPod, if you remove/add songs to your playlist, next time you sync your iPod the change will apply. Then, you can use the checkmark to really avoid iTunes playing a song and not to manage your iPod.

Don´t want to play music videos automatically when playing a Single

I´m using iTunes 11.
Its very annoying that iTunes plays music videos automatically when I´m listening to a single I bought on iTunes Store which includes a music video. I don´t have a problem with it when the video appears in my music library, but I don´t want to watch it when I only want to hear music and iTunes is minimized.
I could create a playlist, but I don´t want to because for two tracks it´s worthless.
So does anyone have a workaround for this issue?`

When in iTunes, click on file, then preferences. See the "general" tab. There is a drop down menu "When you insert a CD". What are your settings there ?

Why would you create a new account?
All purchases will be tied to the account from which they were purchased.
You will have to authorize your computer for all the accounts from which music is purchased.

Both of my computer and Itunes don't want to detect my Ipod-Touch-3G-32GB

Something really annoying happened to me. I was updating my Ipod Touch 3G-32GB when I accidently pull off the USB link. Now both of my computer and Itunes don't want to detect my Ipod. What am I suppose to do ? [sorry for the mistakes, I'm French]

My iTunes don't want to connect on my iPad. My connections are all working and I have the latest iTunes installed. Can someone please help as I have googled and tried all solutions, but nothing seems to work.

I am working on a friend of mine's 15g ipod(W/dock connector)and I am having the same trouble except it does it to all the songs. I have tried reseting it multiple times, but to no avail.
I am not sure that this runs on windows XP, it is absolutly archaic (compared to my 5th gen. 30g video).

Snow Leopard iTunes 10.5 will not play multiple video tracks in QuickTime .MOV files

I recently discovered that Snow Leopard iTunes version 10.5 won't play multiple video tracks in a QuickTime .MOV file.
Both video tracks appear and play correctly when playing the file in:
- QuickTime Player 10 or QuickTime Player 7.7 on the same Snow Leopard machine
- iTunes 10.3.1 on another Snow Leopard machine
- iTunes 10.5 on Leopard or Windows 7
So I think the problem is iTunes 10.5 on Snow Leopard (although I haven't been able to test iTunes 10.4).
First test file is two 640x480 video tracks side-by-side (total dimensions 1280x480):

All I see is the first (left) video track, and not the right one. iTunes "Get Info" command incorrectly reports the video dimensions of the file as 640x480.
Second test file is two 640x480 video tracks played one after another (duration of 10 seconds each):

All I see is the first video track, and although it reports the correct file duration (20 seconds), the second video track never appears -- it simply freezes on the final frame of the first video track for the last 10 seconds.
Anyone else see similar behavior? Unless I'm missing something, I suppose I should submit this as a bug to Apple.

The more I look into finding a resolution to my iPod's problems, the more confused I become.
My iPod suddenly stopped working properly. I've had every icon and symbol known to man kind show up on my iPod. I've had battery with exclamation mark, folder with exclamation mark, recharge in the mains socket picture, a vertical line and the dreaded do not disconnect. Also, I've now got ok to disconnect but battery is showing empty. It had showed full earlier today and hadn't been played so battery should still be good.
My iPod shuts down my computer and the blue screen shows a problem with drivers. When I connect to our iMac I get the message that not enough power is being supplied and to try another USB port. Which I've done to no avail.
My daughter's iPod works fine on both computers.
My iPod's battery has always run out quickly; I don't know if this is relevant.
I'm using iTune 4.9 and my iPod is 4th Gen, 40 GB and had been working fine until 2 days ago. When it wouldn't initally update on my computer I could still use it but it started to skip tracks, not play selected tracks or only play part of the song before moving to the next song. Then it seemed ok and even updated but then today it didn't respond anymore...
I noticed the iPod was whirling for a while and a bit hot this evening when I tried to update it.
I don't really know what to do with it next. Not sure I want to smack it as I've seen suggested. It's 10 months old and not endearing itself to me right now...

I suggest you take it to the Apple store. They will either restore it or replace it. Judging by the symptoms you describe, I would suggest replacing the iPod.

How can I set a passcode that is only required at certain times of the day. Ie: my child needs access for school use, but don't want her playing iPad in the middle of the night. I cannot identify a way to have the iPad turn off or require a password

Yes I have used the clock/timer/ countdown - great to restrict how many minutes of iPad usage they get a day.
But as my child requires the iPad in school for class lessons the usage at school varies maybe 30 mins 1 day and a few hrs on other days
I want the ability to say set the iPad to not work between say 7pm and 7am, ( unless a passcode is entered) so my child isn't playing games on it in the middle of the night...

Itunes doen't want to play wma file already on computer

I just got a mac and copies a folder from my PC to my mac, some of it contains MP3's which itunes recognises places in library and plays, but the wma file it won't do anything with, it wont import, cant drag and drop into itunes and wont play it, only quicktime plays it!! i tunes for windows used to automatically convert those and play without a problem. What should i do??!!

As you've discovered, the OS X version of iTunes doesn't play or convert wma files; Mac users generally do not use them, as they are a proprietary Microsoft format.
You can use Switch to convert the wma files on your Mac.

Iphone not recognized by itunes/can't upgrade itunes/ don't want to upgrade software

After having my iphone 3g "fixed" in the apple store and connecting it to one of their brand new computers, my itunes no longer recognizes my iphone and says I need to upgrade to new Itunes which I can't do because I only have the Tiger version of software. Is there anything I can do so my iphone can go back to normal without purchasing updated software?

I am having a similar problem. I am attempting to install the airport extreme card in my ibook g4. The computer is not recognizing the card and now it isn't recognizing the iphone. If I remove the airport card then itunes recognizes the iphone. I have the original phone with the 2.01 update. I'm stumped.

Kerberos and Database control don't want to play

I've got a problem - it's been with Oracle support for over 2 weeks now and have had no reply.
Our infrastructure is 10.2.0.4 on Solaris. The requirement is having Kerberos enabled authentication for the database and management is via EM Database Control not Grid Control so each Database is managed individually and is self-contained.
Kerberos was installed and is working fine. You can get a ticket and login OK. What became obvious, however, that by enabling Kerberos, Database Control partially breaks. I know you can't have Kerberos EM accounts setup but that's not what we need to do.The agent just can not connect to the local database. I've done a bit of trouble-shooting and it's pretty obvious what the issue is but sorting it out is a bit of a problem.
Right, when you enable Kerberos, most of the settings are done in the sqlnet.ora file on the database server. The interesting setting here is the line :-
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (BEQ,KERBEROS5)
Correct me if I'm right, but what this basically does is to say that any 'local' connections (eg sqlplus / as sysdba) just go in through the usual database/host group accounts (BEQ) whilst any other connections (sqlnet) go through Kerberos. This is where the problem looks as though it is. The EMAgent insists on using a full descriptor (host, port, sid etc..) and thus loops back through sqlnet and hits the Kerberos authentication brick wall and produces the standard Kerberos error :-

The connect descriptor being used by the agent is :-

I've briefly edited the emoms.properties file to change the descriptor to IPC based and it still errors just the same. To duplicate this error we just created a normal database account "account1" identified internally and used these descriptors outside EM with sqlplus and it's just the same, so running :-
sqlplus account1/password@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=server1.acme.co.uk)(PORT=1521))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=DB1)))
gives exactly the same credentials error and :-
# sqlplus account1/password
connects just fine. BTW, if you edit the original sqlnet.ora file and change (BEQ,KERBEROS5) to (BEQ) or even just remove the line, it all works fine but obviously disables Kerberos which isn't an option.
If someone has experienced this and knows a patch/fix or which configuration files to hand-edit I'd appreciate it.

I am curious about the above statement since Grid Control does allow individual 'administrators' to be isolated to specific systems/configurations. That functionality is implemented using EE's Virtual Private Database capability and seems pretty solid to me.

How can I stop iTunes from duplicating and auto playing my Internet streams whenever I add new media to the library?

I have been a mac user for a good few years now and use iTunes regularly.
Since the recent updates to iTunes I have been experiencing an issue that is becoming extremely frustrating and annoying!
Whenever I add a new item to my library, iTunes starts to play the Internet streams that I have opened over the years and duplicates them in the library in a playlist called "Internet songs". While the library is updated I cannot stop the playback. I have a very large library and it takes some time for all of the organising etc to finish.
This was never an issue with previous versions of iTunes.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have searched but can't find any mention on the Internet.
I really don't want to listen to these tracks anymore!!!
Deleting from the library does not stop this issue from occurring either.
