ITunes "Download All Free Updates" Button Predicament

OKAY. Today, I decided to transfer my applications (for the iPhone/iPod Touch) I had on my HP Desktop to my new MacBook Pro. I transferred them through the use of a flash drive from the HP to the MBP. I imported them into iTunes and my MBP showed "Apps ___86(in a bubble, indicating there are 86 updates available for the applications I have on my MBP)" so I clicked on it and at the bottom of the iTunes window there was a button that said "86 updates available" and I clicked that. It opens the iTunes store to the applications update page. In the top right corner of the iTunes store window it has another button labeled as "Download All Free Updates", I clicked this button and it asked if it was okay to download apps that had the age restriction of 17 and over, I clicked on the "Yes" button. A dialog popped up and read "One of the items you tried to purchase is no longer available", I clicked "Ok". Another dialog popped up and says "Update All?", I also click "Ok". Now nothing happens after that, as I suppose it should start a download and appear as a tab in the left hand menu pane, but alas nothing.

The problem was that I had an application no longer available in the Canadian store (my account) but only available in the US store. I deleted that application from my application list and iTunes let me use the "Update All' button properly.

  • Download All Free Updates does not work

For the past several months the "Download All Free Updates" button in iTunes has not worked.  If I need to update apps I have to download them one at a time.  Is anyone else having this problem?  I am running iTunes 10.2 on a PowerMac G5 which is running 10.5.8.

if you have ONE app that is no longer available or has a problem with it (access, country/location, etc.) then the whole batch will fail. *****, because you can't tell which app until you go through all of them one by one. update often

  • Download All Free Updates Not Working

Over the past few days, I've noticed that the "Download All Free Updates" won't work in iTunes to get the latest versions of my Apps.  Usually, I can download them all individually without an issue but sometimes one gets "stuck" and even though it downloads, it still shows that an update is available.  When I click the "Download All Free Updates" button (or text), it does show activitiy with the iTunes store but the downloads never start.  Also, if I select "Check for available downloads", nothing happens either.  This is happening on both the new 10.4 version and the previous version.
    Any ideas?

I'm not so sure this an iTunes or a server problem.  I noticed this exact problem for me last night before 10.4 was released.  And updating didn't change anything.
I seem to recall a similar problem a few months ago when I updated a specific app.  It turned that the app update was causing everyone problems and once it was deleted, the problem was gone.
So it may not be an iTunes specific problem, although it is lame that for all the scrutiny apps are supposed to get that they can't screen for update-crashing apps.
I'm not sure how to go about testing to see which of my recently updated apps may be causing this.

  • Download All Free Updates requires password.  One at a time does not.

When I use the button "Download All Free Updates" to download iPhone applications updates in iTunes on the Mac, one of two things happens:
    • The updates all download and complete after one click on the "Download …" button. No problem.
    • Clicking the "Download …" button causes an iTunes Store login window to open asking for my password. If I cancel out of this window and download each update by clicking on its download button I can do them all without a password.
This happened today when one of the apps had an over 17 warning. But I have had it happen even when there is no age warning.
I am logged in to iTunes when this happens and can purchase songs or apps from my Mac without a password.
Any idea what the problem might be?

I have the same problem. I hit the update all button and I've had to enter my password every 10 seconds for about 40 times. Apple did this to us a few updates ago too. Hopefully a fix will come soon. My only tip is to don't use iTunes to update your apps. Update from within the App Store app on your iphone or ipad and you won't have to enter your password constantly--just once!

  • Apps - Download All Free Updates - You have already purchased this item

I have an iPad and iPhone, and over the past few months I've noticed that iTunes keeps getting confused when trying to download app updates.
So right now if I run iTunes, it shows that there are 16 updates in Apps.  I click on Apps and then click the "16 Updates Available" link at the bottom right.  This opens the "My App Updates" view.  I then click "Download All Free Updates" and get a prompt that says:
You have already purchased this item
You have already purchased this item but it has not been downloaded. To download it, select Check For Available Downloads from the Store menu.
    This is confusing because:
I have no idea which of the 16 app updates it is talking about
I'm not told why it has not been downloaded
Check for available downloads doesn't do anything.
I can get around this problem by manually downloading each update individually, syncing and trying an update again.  But after a few weeks I get more updates and the problem starts all over again.
Any ideas why this is happening?
    Cheers
    Boz

  • "Download all Free Updates" never works!   Help please...

This is an annoying problem. When there are updates for my itouch in the app store I click on "Download all Free Updates". The problem is it hasn't worked in over a year. I get a pop up box that says "We could not complete your iTunes store request. There is not enough memory available. There was an error in the iTunes store please try again later." So ultimately I must get my free updates one by one. A minor inconvenience but still annoying. Anyone know how to fix this?
By the way, my computer has plenty of memory...from the wording this seems to be an iTunes problem.

I had the same problem and found a response that said this problem was related to a 17+ application that needed to update amidst the many updates. At that point I had nearly 100 to update, and I believe the problem occurred when you have 17+ apps and a large amount of apps to update all together.
It was recommended that you update the 17+ apps individually after which the others should update en masse .. but since I couldn't work out which were 17+, I just updated each individually. Once I did that everything has worked all right as I have made sure I haven't let my updates gather to more than about 20 before updating

  • How do i own the software to enable me to update and download all free updates?

How do I get to own the software to enable me to update and download all my free updates.
I am having a problem when I go to update my Apps. May be i have changed the password. but now I can not update my apps i itunes.
It gives me the message " You can not update this software since you have not owned the major version of this software." I do not know what to do. Can someone help me?
    Thank you
    jackchild

i'm here because i have a question about software update, but your question intrigues me. from what i understand, you're talking about two different things. i'm on the same version of osx and i have an application that is called App Store. I have placed it in my dock. do you have this? I believe it is part of the os. when you open the app there are columns on the top, just like the ios app store, the one on the far right being updates. when you click on this it offers you the option to update all of your "purchased" apps for Mac, with "purchased"  including free apps. Unfortunately, unlike the ios app store, you still need to sign into itunes/icloud to get the updates. i'm sure they will change this in a future update because it's simply silly.i believe that your Apple ID and password are the same between itunes and the icloud, since they synch with each other -- they are for me, so the different IDs and passwords referenced above refer to this community forum vs itunes/icloud.
i hope this helps. good luck...

  • Apps      Download All Free Updates

Whenever I try to update my apps, I get this error...."You can not update since you have not owned the major version of this software.", but I do..... So what's up?
    Thanks, Schooner

I get the same error when trying to update one of my free apps. I think the creator just labelled it wrong in the store or something. I just deleted the app and got rid of the message.

  • ITunes 10.4 app update not working - iTunes downloads available app updates but without any effect - it doesn't update the apps in iTunes...

Since a few days I experience following issue when trying to download app updates for my iPhone or iPad
    - I click on get update or on 'Download all free updates'
    - iTunes successfully downloads the updates and seems to successfully process them
    - BUT the list of available apps to update does not change! And when checking the version of the apps that were to be updated, they are unchanged
    Any idea?

I had a similar problem. My iTunes didn't start automatically when I connected any of my devices after the upgrade to iTunes 10.4.1.
I found I had to add the iTunesHelper.app in System Preferences->Users & Groups under my account on the Login Items tab.
You have to navigate to it in finder, because I couldn't seem to do "Show Package Contents" on iTunes.app in the Applications folder from the file dialog you get when you hit '+'.
Once you have opened the package contents of the iTunes.app then the iTunesHelper.app is in Contents/MacOS. I just dragged and dropped into the Login Items window, then ticked it to start on login.
Note, this will only start it when you log in, to start it immediately just double click iTunesHelper.app in finder.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes.  At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.

  • ITunes 10.6.1 Update button for iOS update does not work (a bug)

iTunes 10.6.1 Update button on iOS device Summary / Version page does not update devices. It only checks the iTunes version!
With iTunes 10.6.1, connect an iPad, iPhone, iPod running pre-6 iOS version.
On iPad Summary / Version page, next to  [Update] button the message says:
"A newer version of the iPad software is available (version 6.0). To update your iPad with the latest software, click Update."
However, clicking the [Update] button will not start update iPad. Instead it gives you a dialog saying:
"This version of iTunes (10.6.1) is the current version".
Obviously it should start updating the i-device there but instead just goes and check the iTunes version ?!?
    A Bug!
What's really annoying in this bug is that it's the only way to update pre iOS 5.x devices, which is now impossible!
Apple should get this fixed asap!
    Anyone found any workarounds?

Just forgot to add, yes, I know there's iTunes 10.7 but it's only available on Snow Leopard and higher.
The machine in question is an old macbook, running Leopard (10.5.8), that it will propably never get upgraded.
Since most  my older i-devices were initially synced with that particular machine, I'll be now stuck with iOS updates, without loosing content.

  • HT5022 I'm trying to add a "new client" to my wireless network using Airport Utility, but I can't find that option in the new version.  I've downloaded all available updates of the OS and the utility..  Help!

I'm trying to add my HP wireless printer as a "new client" to my wireless network using Airport Utility, but I can't find that option in the new version.  I've downloaded all available updates of the OS and the utility..  Help!

Why would you need to ADD a new Client. Unless the APE sytem is completely different then any other Wireless router the printer should get an IP address from the router. That is IF the printer is setup to get an IP from the LAN DHCP server.
Now you may want to make that IP it does get a Staticly assign IP address so it never changes, which will screw up printing if it does change. But i don't know if you can do that with APE routers.
