ITunes download duplicate problem
When I download iTunes and add the music from Windows Media Player to iTunes there is duplicates in my Win.Media Player library and I need to find a way to prevent the duplicates on my new laptop.
Getting iTunes & Windows Media Player to play nicely
(the short version)
If you want WMP & iTunes to live in harmony then disable WMP's options for updating or reorganising media, then tell it that its Rip Folder is the same as your iTunes Media\Music folder. Move anything you want to add into iTunes either into the Automatically add to iTunes folder, assuming you are happy letting iTunes organise things, otherwise place them where you want, but inside the iTunes Media folder. If you are letting iTunes Keep the iTunes Media folder organised then WMP will work it out when iTunes has moved something, but the reverse is not the case. WMP will also detect and add compatible (non-AAC) files that have been ripped or downloaded using iTunes, unless you tell it not to of course. If you want to add compatible (non-WMA) files created by WMP into iTunes use iTunes Folder Watch. You should probably settle on .mp3 as your default media format so that the same audio files can be used in either player without unnecessary duplication of files. Choose a bit rate that gives you good enough quality, probably 256k or above. N.b. Most video formats will only work in one of the two media players.
More on letting iTunes & Windows Media Player live happily together
(longer version, with pics.)
Using Edit > Preferences > Advanced take a note of the location of your iTunes Media folder, here for example I have my library living at the root of my H: drive. I choose to organise my files manually but generally recommend setting the Keep iTunes Media folder organised option to others as it requires less housekeeping. Having Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library set often encourages unnecessary duplication but the choice is yours. If letting iTunes manage files then move your imports into the Automatically add to iTunes folder, otherwise arrange them to your taste within the iTunes Media folder before manually adding them to the library.
On the Preferences > General tab set your import settings to mp3 with a sample rate to suit your taste and the capacity of your devices.
In Windows Media Player use Library > More Options > Rip Music to set WMP's rip folder to <iTunes Media Folder>\Music. Set the format to mp3 and choose your quality settings. Disable the Rip when CD inserted option so you can choose whether to rip with WMP or iTunes.
On the Library tab make sure the highlighted check boxes are not ticked. This prevents WMP from automatically updating files and moving them about which can confuse iTunes. With both programs sharing the same media folders you should also take care when deleting tracks from one library that you don't accidentally delete the files if they should be left for the alternate library.
WMP is able to detect when media has been moved from one location to another (providing it is monitoring the target folder) so you can move any music that is currently organised in your main <User>Music folder into your iTunes\iTunes Media\Music folder and WMP will reconnect to it. You can then add those folders that you want to into iTunes without creating duplicates. Of course you may have already duplicated some material so you'll need to consider this before deciding what to move around and what to delete. See also my DeDuper script for removing duplicates and this thread for more background on it, including tips on how to dedupe manually.
Existing WMA or AAC files in each library can be set out in the same folder structure accessible only to the WMP or iTunes libraries respectively or you can opt to convert them to a common format when the need arises.
Now you've taken all that effort to make your library perfect don't forget to back it up. See this user tip for suggestions.

Songs on itunes, download with problems. finish before the final
i have one problem, on the last 3 days, i´ve bought 3 songs, and finish it before the final...i ve bought more than 600 songs and never did...
Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken tracks from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If you don't see them straight away it may help to close and restart iTunes.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

I bought a song in ITUNES and had problem downloading it. I contacted support and they downloaded the song for me. Now when I try to play the song, I get a message saying my computer isn't authorized to play it. I try reauthorizing but that doesn't work, just keep getting the same message. Can anyone help?

From Apple website when I go to itunes update to 10.3 I am not seeing the left column to download itunes 10.3. Does anyone else have this problem? I tried yesterday as well. Today, I threw my itunes 9.1.1 in the trash and emptied it... and then rebooted. What am I doing wrong?
What operating system are you running? I doubt it's an iPhone OS on a Mac Mini, but if you meant to choose 10.4 then you're out of luck. http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ At the bottom of the left hand column on this page, you'll see it requires OS X 10.5 or higher.

i have a ipod touch and i got it for christmas with an iTunes card .the problem is that i downloaded videos and now it said that there is not enough space and i only downloaded 8 and now 5 don't download how do i erase them.can get my money back
Whatever you read about iTunes is wrong unless you're actually referring to feature movies, not videos. Videos, apps, music and iBooks you can re-download:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
Download to your computer and then sync to your iPod touch whatever will fit.
And no, I can't say with certainty that they won't give you a refund, but it's unlikely. The most probable outcome, if you do indeed mean movies, not TV shows or other videos, is that they would set up an additional download. For other content they'll probably just direct you to the same instructions on re-downloading I just posted. -
Hi all,I have just purchased new iphone but have difficulty in completing the itunes download with message : problem with Windows installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.
Would appreciate help...its driving me up the wall!!Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time? -
my iPhone 4S the restore Ends at 60 % with error 1 (not -1).
I reinstall iTunes, download iOS 7.0.1 as ipsw and No success
I Think that is a problem of the iTunes or firmware versions :/.
Apple Please Help us!You can't Restore to any iOS other than 7.1.
If the error persists, try on another computer. Still no joy, it is a hardware failure. -
Many of my older ITunes downloads play perfectly well on my IMac but constantly skip to the next song or suddenly stop playing on my IPhone. The problem is the same with both my old 4s and my new 5s phones. I have tried deleting and re-downloading my music library to the phones, but the result is always the same.
I'm adding more information:
in Finder, my iMovie folders are all visible and accessible. When I click on a clip from iMovie Events folder, Quicktime opens and plays the clip. ALL my video is not missing - it just isn't showing up in the Event Library!
This happened all of a sudden, while I was working on iMovie project (on both computers).
All my Projects are intact, and play when I open them. -
I have downloaded the iTunes software no problems, but when i come to run it a windows pop up comes up saying,
"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact
the application verifier to verify that this is a valid window installer package"
as i mentioned it is a brand new Toshiba satellite pro running windows 7 professional,
any ideas????????????
markA lot of people have found this works for them:
Settings/General/Date and Time Turn OFF Set Automatically
Set the date to several years in the future
Try to update again - you will get a different error message
Go back and turn ON Set Automatically -
A message advising a new Itunes terms and conditions is pop up even after my agree and acceptance... Is there a problem in Itunes? same problem with deferent devices
Just Can't download, buy or even update apps...I use only one Apple ID and only one ID. I did have to change the password at one point but I had no issues at all with updating apps after I changed the password.
If you can download new apps with the ID that you changed the password for, I would think that you will be able to update apps associated with that ID as well.
Did you try restarting the iPad after signing out of the one account and then sign in to the other account/accounts? -

Problems with iTunes downloading songs to computer. I hook up my iPhone as well as my Ipod and it does not download the new content on my computer.
with that one we'd better check on these possibilities:
You can't import or play music from an audio CD in iTunes for Windows
these resources might be helpful with that:

Itunes states that my computer is not authorized to download an audio book I purchased from itunes. No problem with purchased songs however.
Hello susanserio
Try Deauthorize your account and then Authorize the account to see if any changes occur. Also there may a resolution in the second article that can be helpful as well.
