I am trying to download itunes on my Mac g5 (2005) and i keeps saying "mounting failed" please help!

Too many applications and tasks are currently active on your machine for the mounting process to work; try quitting applications you don't need open, and if that doesn't work, log out and back in.

  • Itunes download - quicktime failed

how do you download quicktime first, then itunes?  My computer says it can't download itunes because quicktime has failed.  Any suggestions.

My computer says it can't download itunes because quicktime has failed.
I'd like to have a closer look at that error message please.
Generate the error message again. While the error message box is open, hold down the Alt key and hit the PrtSc key. Paste the screenshot into an image file (using a program like Paint), and save the file.
Start a reply here and click the wee camera icon at the top of the reply window. Click "Choose file", browse to the image file, select the file and click "Open". Now click "Insert file" to insert the screenshot into the reply.

  • Itunes 9.2.1 "mounting failed"

After having to reformat the HD on my G4 Powerbook, I reinstalled Tiger and the version of iTunes (4.x) that came on the DVD. After that, I attempted and have been continually attempting to upgrade iTunes to 9.2.1 with absolutely zero luck. My OS is upgraded to 10.4.11. iTunes is currently at version 4.7.1. I downloaded iTunes 9.2.1 from Apple at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1056 . The problem I'm having is that every time I do the download, I get an error after download that says "mounting failed". I'm having no other system issues. Other downloads, like the one to upgrade Safari, worked fine with no mounting "failures."
I am at my wits end. Apple isn't being very supportive on this issue (unless I pay them, $49, which I don't have). This seems an awfully simple task that shouldn't be so problematic.
I am desperate. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Oh, I should add that I've completely removed iTunes from the computer, following the Apple support page that tells you how to completely remove iTunes, but, like every other time, this is followed by a 9.2.1 download that fails to mount.
    Thanks.

I first tried installing on top the existing 9.2 installation and then removed all of the iTunes/Quicktime programs(including amds) and tried installing again. In both cases AMDS would not install.

  • 'mounting failed' when trying to download iTunes8

I'm running OS X 10.4.11 on a PPC G5. I've tried to download iTunes8 (I currently have iTunes7.7, but need 8 for my new iPod), but at the end of the attempted download I get the message 'Mounting Failed'. I have spoken to 4 different operators in 2 different support departments (itunes/ipod support and computer support), but none have been able to help. One even said 'I've never heard of the message 'mounting failed' - perhaps it's a new one I haven't been told about".
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks in advance.

After looking at so many places/forums/discussion groups, I could only find one real solution for this problem and that was 'hard reset' your phone.
I have to admit that i used to hate this solution the most but it worked for me, infact I'm a fan of 'backup' + 'hard reset' solution now!
    Here is what you need:
    1. Backup your data/settings
Backup your device settings/data with Nokia PC Suite/ Ovi Suite.
    2. Hard Reset
    Switch off the phone.
Press GREEN + RED + CAMERA + ON simultaneously until you see the “Select Country” option.
    3. Restore
Restore your device using the same utility you used for backup.
    Note:
The default password for hard reset is 12345.
I got all my settings back after I restored my device and the OVI app is working like a charm now!

  • Downloading  dmg  file and  Mounting Failed ??

    hi,
i might have messed up with the files on my ibook.
i somehow deleted previous users account and created mine As Admin. ..... however deleted user account is in deleted user folder as dmg file.
now when i log in my account as admin and download something > then Disk copier helper opens > then installation >> and finally Message comes .. Mounting Failed ( error 95 ).
this happened when i tried to download and install dmg file from internt
it also says that there is no file folder to handle this file
How can i fix mounting problem on my User Account as Admin.
    thanks

I'm on the same boat. I called Apple Support. They made me clean cache, create a new user, yada yada yada. Nothing helped. Last resort was to re-install OSX Snow 10.6.2
I did so, doing an ERASE then moving files/programs back from Time Machine. Right after OS was just installed, I was able to download anything. After I did an upgrade to the latest combo patch to 10.6.2 I was back in "no download land"
I have Google Chrome (no dice), FireFox (no dice)....
Help! I don't want to have to re-install everything again!

  • "Mounting Failed" - downloaded driver for HP deskjet 6980

I downloaded the printer driver for my HP deskjet 6980 and when it finished downloading it said that mounting failed. Why would this be?

    Hi Kat,
Either a RAM/Hardware issue, Disk needs Repair, or some glith in downloading.
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), off the HD & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.

  • At the end of the download I get a message saying mounting failed

Which version of Mac OS do you have and which version of Firefox are you trying to install?
Firefox 3.0 versions and later require at least Mac OS X 10.4

  • When trying to download firefox, it states that "mounting failed." what can i do?

my initial firefox got put in the trash and unfortunately the trash was emptied. I tried to download a new firefox, but each time i do it states "mounting failed."

The last version of Firefox that works on OS X 10.3.9 is Firefox 2.0.0.20, available from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/en-US/
You get the mounting failed error message if you try to use a more recent version of Firefox.

  • Microsoft office download problem " Mounting Failed "

    Hello there ,
Thank you for your time . Im trying to download Microsoft office for mac but every time i download the file i get the message " Mounting Failed " Dont know what the problem .
    thank you

As Office is not an Apple product, I strongly recommend asking in the Microsoft Office:Mac forums here:
    Office for Mac
Everyone there is a Mac user AND an Office user, something you can't say about Apple's forums. You will get the fastest help there and I think you will find the contributors more than helpful.

  • I am trying to download Firefox 3.6 to use on my Mac OS X version 10.3.9. Three attempts and I continue to get "mounting failed" and "corrupt image". Help please?

I am trying to download Firefox 3.6 to use on my Mac OS X version 10.3.9. Three attempts and I continue to get "mounting failed" and "corrupt image". Help please?

Firefox 3.6 requires at least OS X 10.4, the last version of Firefox that worked on OS X 10.3.9 was Firefox 2.0.0.20 which is available from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/

  • Itunes download fail

I tried to download itunes yesterday and it gave me this message
An error occured during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",processorArchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD
I have tried deleting everything on my computer about itunes but it hasnt worked and i have tried the troubleshooting on the website but all of it failed. Any ideas?

If your version of OS X as shown in your profile is correct, you need to take note of the system requirements, stated on the download page:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If your system is not running 10.5.8, please let us know what version you do have.
    Regards.

  • Why does this big download keep saying mounting failed?

I'm downloading the Windows 7 beta and it gets to about 550 mb and then it says mounting failed. I was kind of paying attention to it right when it did it and I'm pretty sure that the HDD started up then stopped then it said that but I'm not totally sure. Any ideas?

All it is is an iso that you burn to a disc. From what I read, it works just fine using BootCamp. Besides, it's just downloading it, not running it so that is not the issue.

  • Downloaded xcode and at the end i got a mounting failed message, what can i do to fix this?

I downloaded xcode 3-1.2.6 and ios sdk 4.3 and at the end i got a mounting failed message.
What can i do and how do i fix this error?

If the message was something like "no mountable filesystem," then your download was corrupt. Try again.
