ITunes Downloading Video Podcasts - Hangs a few minutes on save

I have iTunes 8 (but this has been going on in older versions)
On a Win XP Pro laptop with 2GB Ram, and a 10mb Internet connection.
When I download new podcasts, the video podcasts download OK, but when each one completes the download and I assume is saving it to iTunes, the iTunes program seems to Hang. I can't do anything in iTunes, the little spinning whell stops, and I have to just sit there for 30 seconds to a min. until it frees up and starts downloading the next podcast. It happens on every video podcast, but not on the audio ones. Anything I can do to fix that? It's anoying.

Seem to be having a similar issue. Has started just recently so something must have changed although I'm not sure what. Maybe a Windows update has broken something?
Download any content from the store, it'll appers in the download folder but is never renamed or transfered into the correct sub folder.
"  iTunes/Downloads/content_name.tmp/download.m4v  "
Disabled Anti-Virus / Firewall to no effect. Don't think there has been any other system changes that would affet this aside from windows updates.
Windows 7 64bit SP1 running the same 10.2.2.12 build of iTunes.

  • Cant download video podcasts from Itunes

For some reason I'm having issues downloading video podcasts on itunes although I can download audio podcasts.  I just switched computers and moved my itunes download directory, everything seems to work except Video podcasts.
I don't get an error, it says done but no download file shows up, it just keeps the icon GET on the right side.

carlos, I to am having the same issue as you, and it is extremely frustrating!! I can watch the temp file get larger and larger, then once it has finished downloading, it gets removed from the PC! Hopefully someone has an answer.

  • ITunes app video podcasts not appearing in iPod on iPhone

Suddenly, when I download video podcasts from iTunes app on my iPhone they are not showing up in my iPod videos.
    Anyone else having this problem?

I had this same problem. I had to delete iBooks, then reinstall it from the app store. When I opened iBooks after the reinstall my book was waiting there.

  • Trouble downloading video podcast

anybody else having trouble downloading video podcasts of the RNC? The DNC podcasts are downloading fine, but the RNC are not! anybody know why this is?

    Marcia...
I downloaded your files and I couldn't get them to play either. iTunes won't play them and Quicktime just says it's a file that quicktime doesn't understand. Both files will have to be converted to ipod/itunes compatibility formats and reloaded to your server before they can be viewed.
There are a list of tech specs available here http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/techspecs.html
but if you're like me you want the easy solution.
iSquint is an easy shareware solution to convert files to ipod ready format that can then be loaded to the ITMS. It's found at http://www.isquint.org/
it's a great program, I use it weekly for my own church.
    Hope this helps.

  • Powerbook G4 hangs after few minutes of usage

    Since February 06 I have a PB G4: 1.67GHZ, model Powerbook5,8
Since this weekend it hangs after a few minutes of usage.
I tried a whole load of possible solutions, like resetting the RAM, removing the battery and holding the powerbutton for 5 seconds...I even held it once for half a minute, but that didn't help. Checking the harddrive with disk utility (tried it often, but only once did the PB work long enough to get the end result: hard drive is healthy).
Often, when it hangs, I can get it to work by simply turning it off and on again. That gives me another window of 2 minutes of usage! Handy throughout the day when I need a file, or a document: I simply boot the machine, get the file and shut it down.
Carbon copy to an external HD does not work: the system hangs a few minutes after copying.
I installed a utility named applejack, and the first time I tried it, I got an interesting error: there were errors with the USB controller or USB bus, and system hangs. I didn't make a screenshot so this is out of the top of my head.
This was interesting because when I tried to make a HD copy (and believe me: I tried lots and lots of times), the system freezes first, and then an error about not unmounting a device popped into the screen. As if the touchpad, keyboards, and all other i/o devices stop working, and the system goes on for a few seconds more.
Sometimes the system just hangs, sometimes I get that black kernel panic screen.
Just before writing this, I tried the hardware test on the install CD once more:
Held down the option key, chose the hardware test -> quick test and..
system hangs after completion of the test
A message appeared in the bottom-left corner. Several lines of information, starting with:
"ERROR, Write to location ZERO detected!!, Loc zero was originally zero
    Current File: Localization/en/Scripts/enAHTscript.sc"
    etc
I live on a nice island in the Caribbean, so popping into the nearest Apple store means getting on a flight to Miami first.
What -if any- are my options? Is there something I can try to do myself before shipping it to Apple? Opening the case, checking this or that?
By the way, I originally posted this in the Titanium folder, but someone mentioned that I might actually have a Aluminum PB.

    hi joeuu,
I have 1.5GB mem: one 512 stick and one 1GB and I already tried the sticks one at a time: it hangs with the original 512, it hangs with the 1GB and it hangs with them together in both possible slot settings.
I managed to copy the panic.log in /Library/Logs/ and here it is:

Now what can we read from this?
I see in here "AppleUSBTrackpad" and "AppleUSBOHCI".
Referring to my original post: I have seen an error (a few days ago, when working with applejack) that also mentioned USB.
I'm very afraid that this is a hardware issue. Reading through some other posts, I saw something about a ribbon that gave problems. What are your thoughts?

I just installed the Sony BDP-S780 Blu-ray and Sony CMU-BR100 Webcam, skype is working, however the incoming video freezes after a few minutes.  The caller on the other side clicks off the video and then back on, it works again but only for a few minutes.  Is there a fix for this or am I doing something wrong.

  • Some of my songs in iTunes seem to have added a few minutes of dead air....

I noticed that a few of my songs in iTunes seem to have added a few minutes of dead air space at the end. For example, I just played a song that should have lasted 4 minutes, and it is showing up under the "time" heading as "12.47." When I played this song, it played out for the 4 minutes, and then continued to play dead air for another 8 minutes. How did this happen and how can I fix it?

  • Podcast stops every few minutes

Ever since the podcast app updated last night, my podcasts just stop every few minutes. I tried restarting the phone and playing different podcasts, but it doesn't help. Any suggestions?

I installed Podcasts 2.1.1 one more time on my phone.
On my iPhone I went into Settings > Podcasts.
I turned on Sync Podcasts (actually left it on).
    Set Refresh Every to Manually
    Limit Episodes to Off
    Download Episodes to Off
    Delete Played Episodes to Off
    Use Cellular data to Off
Everything is working as it is supposed to, and as an added bonus, the "Cellular data is truned off" warning seems to have disappeared.
It shouldn't be this difficult, but at least Apple seems to have produced an update that functions.

  • HELP - I can't download video podcasts that I used to be able to !

I have a 120 gb iPod classic that I received for Christmas a couple of years ago (2008) & I download podcasts to it every wk. since I received it. It still has 80 gb of free space BUT it wont' load some video podcasts from iTunes now. I'm thinking I accidentally changed a setting somewhere. Can somebody PLEASE help me? The video podcast I'm having trouble with today is "Max Lucado - Video Podcasts" that are in the iTunes store. I downloaded the "Call to Prayer" in Jan. '10 just fine & have many of his earlier than that on my iPod but none of the ones past that go to my iPod from iTunes. iTunes gives me a message that 3 of the videos were unable to load or something very similar to that.
REALLY looking forward to hearing from someone,
    Donette

I too have this problem but it seems to be selective.....I can download cooking video podcasts just fine but the Hubblecast video podcast files will not load onto my ipod.....how frustrating...hope there is an answer soon...

  • Can't find downloaded video podcast on iPhone

I have downloaded a number of video podcasts from iTunes. I have synced them onto my iPhone numerous times, but now I can't find them on the iPhone.
I have tried going into iPod button, and looked under both Video and More (looked in all the categories, including Podcasts). I have tried to use the iPhone search feature to find the video podcast.
I have also tried going into iTunes, Podcasts and right-clicking on the video podcast and selecting "Create iPod or iPhone Version", but I receive an error saying "One or more videos were not converted because they are already in the correct format."
    Can anybody help???

Question, did you watch these podcasts in itunes? If you watched the video podcast in iTunes before syncing, you need to change your settings on your iphone through iTunes. When you connect your iphone, look for the tab about podcasts and deselect the option to sync only unwatched videos.

  • Cannot delete (non-downloaded) video podcasts from my iPad

Using iTunes on my iPad, I tried to download some video podcasts from CNN and Discovery Channel. For 4 days now, I have had 4 episodes sitting in my "Downloads" section, witht the words "waiting" underneath.
I have searched the discussion forums and the web for answers.
    I have done hard restarts.
I have downloaded the above podcasts directly to iTunes on my computer, and tried to sync them with my iPad. It said that the iPad could not play that type of content.
I have deleted the podcasts from my computer and synced with the iPad again.
All to no avail; I cannot remove the 4 offending episodes.
    Please, someone, help!
    Many thanks
    Andrew

Your compliments made my Thanksgiving day and left me speechless. Thank you. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

  • Alternative to iTunes for video Podcasts?

Is there an alternative App for downloading and organising Video Podcasts? I don't want to watch the on my iPod and don't want them cluttering up my organised iTunes library. However I would like to view them in FrontRow ffrom time to time.
iPodderX does seem to work with Video Podcasts yet.
Failing that does anyone have a script or Automator action to remove to video from iTunes Library folder and move it into a subfolder of my Movies folder?

You can do it from the Finder, just open Music -> iTunes -> iTunes Music -> Podcasts and you'll see the folder with your videocasts in it. Drag it to your Movies folder.
Now you can find them and watch them with anything you want, like QuickTime.

  • ITunes downloads seem to hang when library is on shared USB hard disk

I have a shared USB hard disk on my AirPort Extreme Base Station. I'm able to play music just fine, but when I download a podcast or purchased music from iTunes, the download will start and then hang for a long time. When I quit and tell it to quit downloading in the dialog box, it ignores my choice and won't quit. I'm not even able to force quit iTunes and then can't even shut down my iBook without killing it by holding down the power button.
Is this an issue with transfering the data to the harddrive while airport is also downloading the song? Is there a way to avoid this situation? A setting? Should I be connected to the router directly and not wirelessly?
    Please help.

You have to mount your drive each time you want to use it. There is a special Airport Disk Utility to do that. Or you create an alias on your desktop (which you can of course only do once you have connected for the first time).
