ITunes DRM Question

I recently purchased a season pass of a TV show in HD and I was wondering whether I can stream the episodes to my television that is located in the basement. I don't have Apple TV but I do however own a iPod, PS3 and the Xbox 360. I also do not want to directly connect my MBP via a VGA connection to my HDTV. Is it possible to stream my purchased episodes over the network or is there any other way to view them without using iTunes?
Thanks!

No. Purchased video from iTunes store requires iTunes, AppleTV or an iPod to be played.
You can connect your iPod to televison and watch it.

  • Using ATV2/3 with non-HDMI Receiver and theater projector and also need iTunes downloaded movies to work.   I'm thinking to use the Toslink digital out for surround sound and an HDMI to RGB converter for video but not sure the iTunes DRM will prevent?

I have a theater with a Runco projector but non HDMI. alas, my receiver is non HDMI. Changing electronics and projector is a non-starter.
I would like to be able to buy HD movies on iTunes and watch them by streaming via Apple TV3. My plan is to capture surround sound from the TosLink digital out, which my preamp/receiver can handle. For the video, I need to convert the HDMI to RGB component to feed my receiver.
This is where iTunes DRM and HDCP issues might arise. I am under the impression that I need an non-HDMI compliant converter so that ATV3 can even talk to my receiver. It is my understanding that this is possible and takes care of the HDCP issue. But what about the DRM issue? All I want to do is buy and watch HD movies, no bad intentions. I find it incredible that iit might not be possible.
Anyways, is there a 100% certain approach even if it costs up to $300-400. Again, changing hardware is a non-starter so please avoid the obvious "buy an HDMI amp and projector".
    Thanks

    Hi Carollmt,
I love sharing playlists with people too.  The instructions for syncing an iPod can be found at the following link:

If is the first time you are syncing your husband's iPod with your computer, it will remove his music currently on his iPod and replace it with the music you are trying to sync.  If you don't want to remove the music currently on your husband's iPod, you can transfer your music to his iTunes library using Home Sharing.  Expand the Home Sharing section in the following article for steps to setup Home Sharing and use it to transfer music:

If you have a rescue email address on your account (an alternate email address is different) then you can use that to reset them : If you forgot the answers to your Apple ID security questions
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will have to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : Contact Apple for help with Apple ID account security
If your country isn't on that page then try this form and explain and see what they reply with : https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
When they've been reset, and if you don't already have a rescue email address, you can then add one for potential future use : Manage your Apple ID primary, rescue, alternate, and notification email addresses
Or if it's available in your country you could change to 2-step verification : Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID

  • MacBook Pro Retina, late 2013: iTunes DRM error 8877652 won't boot reliably!

Mavericks 10.9.3, all updates installed (as of today, june 13, 2014)
Laptop is acting major strange -- which is new for this machine. It's worked flawlessly for months.
All of a sudden, Suspend / Sleep seems broken. I can close the lid, unplug the power, put the thing in my backpack (to go to work) when I get there, the laptop is FRIGGEN HOT and the fans are blowing full tilt!
If I do a Shut Down, I get to work, plug the computer in, hit the power button. *nothing* 30 seconds later I hear a startup chime, and it goes to the boot screen.
    I get a never-ending spinner.
Doing a verbose boot, the last message I see is something about iTunes DRM, 8877652. wha?
Doing a boot to the recovery disk (hold down option) I can verify permission, verify disk, everything is fine. If I do a full shutdown from there, the machine won't boot. If I do a 'restart' from the recovery disk, the laptop boots 'normally', albeit slowly.
    HELP!?

I have picked up my brand new MBPR on the 4th as well, and last night restarted for the first time after software update ( mavericks ) and after 3 hours hours of grey screen with spinning wheel called APPLE who again never knows what they are talking about because they keep saying " we never heard about that " when I called about the same issue on my 17 inch 2 months ago. So I called 3 times this morning and when I let them know that I am quite " puzzled " that every time I mention a Maverick Issue suddensly my call gets disconnected, and nobody calls me back when THEY SWEAR they took notes of my call bacl number. Last call a few minutes ago, I spoke to a supervisor and talked for 45 minutes about all issues and when he expressed concern about me recording the call I told him " You guys record my calls, so where does it say where I couldn't record yours if I wanted to ? " and the supervisor hung up on me... Way to Go APPLE!!! I've been an apple devotee since I first got my apple lisa in 1984 but they have only been going to " s*** " the last 2-3 years.
So DIGGLY, do like I will this morning and return your purchase!

So I've had this iTunes account for 2 years, but I recently authorized a new computer (which is the only computer authorized for my account). • DRM Questions

I have a few questions on iTunes purchased media and the DRM on them. I have purchased quite a bit of music and videos and want the freedom to use them how I please. How do I remove the annoying AAC encoding without having to buy some ridiculous third-party software?
I read something about iTunes Plus; can I download everything I have again so it can be DRM-free? I feel it's really obnoxious that I buy these files (which are just digital so Apple makes crazy profit already) and then I have to go through additional steps to just use it how I please.
How long before the "best" option is to lease an iPod or iPad, or rent the same files we're purchasing now.

Surely "AAC encoding" and "DRM" are two separate things!
AAC encoding is the format (or filetype) in which the file has been "made" and it's proprietary to Apple. If you want songs that you can put on a non-Apple mp3 player, then you should buy your music in mp3 format. Many other online music sellers sell the music in mp3 format, try one of them.
However, the same restrictions about redistributing or giving your music to someone else (as mentioned in other posts in this thread) still apply.
DRM is/was the "copy protection" which prevented people from making copies of the music. So the same piece of music could be in AAC with _or without_ DRM, or in mp3 with _or without_ DRM.
    Phil
P.S. Before anyone suggests that the point I made above, namely: "if you want songs that you can put on a non-Apple mp3 player, then you should buy your music in mp3 format" is some sort of infringment of copyright - no it's not. One day my iPod will fail.I may then choose to buy a different brand of "mp3" player. Note that it's an mp3 player, which will play mp3s, but not necessarily AAC files.
