ITunes drops out like everyone else - Netgear WGT624

OK, I've read the posts and I can't get it straightened out. My wireless router is a Netgear wgt624 with WPA enabled. I'm streaming from my MacBook Pro to the AirPort Express. I've tried WEP and no security at all and it still drops out. I have the latest software for the APE. The MacBook Pro is 8' from the router and 9' from the APE.
I live in a condo and there are other networks around. Could that be a factor?
Would switching to a different router solve the problem?

Yes, it is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference in the immediate area that is preventing you from getting a good clean signal.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like KisMAC, MacStumbler, iStumbler, or IPNetMonitorX to determine potential areas of interference...and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them.

    My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • Burning CD issues *it seems like everyone else too* Error Number 4280

    Has anyone figured out what to do with this burning CD's issue that it seems like everyone is having? Now I'm gettng "Error 4280" and I've NEVER had any problems before! It all of a sudden just started, and I JUST want to burn a couple of CD's! I'm not sure what version of iTunes I'm on, but I think the newest one, and now I'm having nothing but trouble. I'm worried about losing my library too and don't know about un-installing and re-installing either. Are they working on this? Does anyone know? I don't know if I even want to purchase any new music at this point ...

    Nope, didn't work, it was already on "Audio CD", even tried buying some new CD's specifically made for music. iTunes knows that have a huge problem with this and they don't care. How dare they just ignore the fact that they screwed up with the new upgrade and not respond at all to this situation. There is honestly nothing else I can think of to do to be able to burn CD's *not to mention that I waste a CD everytime I try, because someone said not to use cd-rw*. I ran all the diagnostics and it said everything as fine. IT'S ITUNES ITSELF.

  • ITunes drops out when streaming to a stereo

    recently - the last couple of months - when I have my iTunes streaming vie airport to my stereo, tracks drop out (go silent) for a second or two every 20 or so seconds. It makes no difference which track is playing. It is beyond frustrating.
    I've installed all of the latest updates, I've tried quitting iTunes, rebooting etc, but to no avail. The thing is, it's not consistent - it doesn't happen every time - more like 50% of the time.
    Any ideas? Is it likely to be interruptions in the wireless network? I live in a Manhattan apartment building. Could it be interruptions due to my mac processing other data?

    I was reading another thread and this worked perfectly for me. I kept trying to get this computer authorized and it would time out everytime. All I did was go up to the store menu, sign out, and sign back in. Nothing timed out, I was able authorize and I am back to listening to music again.

    Can anyone help me with the below problem?
    I have the most recent itunes installed on my MacBook. This is linked to my Onkyo ND S1 transport via USB, which is linked to my DAC via S/PDIF.
    When playing music from my MacBook (through itunes) the sound drops out on a regular basis (about once on every song). I have looked at the settings on the Audio Midi Setup, but no luck!

    I am not sure if your problem and mine are completely related, but what I did was delete the airport password for the system settings on the keychain access program. When I then restarted the airport software it asked me to update all of my keychain settings and the system is now working. The system passwords can be shown by clicking the "show keychains" tab on the keychain access software. You could also look at deleting the local airport password or the airtunes password and re-entering them.
    Hopefully you can get it working and I want to let you know I am not a tech support guy by any means, but just a consumer who tinkers with stuff.

  • Remote speakers in iTunes drop out

    I have Airport Express connected to my PC via a DLink wireless adapter. Whenever the computer (Windows XP) is on the connection is made and never drops out. However if the the PC is on for an extended time, and iTunes has been open with the remote speakers connected, the speakers will drop out and the speaker name is italisied.
    The only way to correct this is to turn off the power to the Airport Express and turn it back on.
    The network is WEP encrpyted and there are no problems what so ever when the speakers are connected. It has been suggested that if the PC goes to sleep this may be the cause. But if it does the connection is still there, just iTunes wont recognise it as being there.
    Any suggestions as to how to fix this would be great.

    If your computer has gone to sleep then the connection will be lost and thus Apple TV will have nothing to access and cut out.

    I'm a 67-year-old grandmother who stood in line and upgraded to the iPhone 4 on June 29 so I could see my grandsons in another state when I talked to them on the phone. The only cases available when I bought the phone at the AT&T store were iFrogz. I assume this is one of the third party cases that Steve Jobs said won't get a refund? I spent the same amount of money that everyone else did, and now they will get a free case and I won't. Not fair.

    You can still get a free case, just not your money back for the one you have.
    Claim your new case and sell it on ebay if you don't want it.

I do not want to 'follow the flow' as I have been instructed to do by other parents in order to obtain an apple id for her by changing her birth year. I believe in truth. I believe that even a 'little white lie' simply adds a burden in our childrens hearts and allows them to think it is okay. As I was told, "It is okay, how is Apple going to find out?" I do not want to travel that path. Her friends have ipods, our 9 year old cousin has an ipod....Help, Honest Mom in need of a solution.

    She can use an iPod. She just can't have her own account in the iTunes Store. The restriction is on using the iTunes Store, not on using apps or playing content purchased from it. You just need to set up an iTunes Store account and buy items for her rather than having her do it on her own.

  • My CD is Stuck..... Just Like Everyone Else....

    I consider myself a fairly savvy Mac user. I update regularly, NEVER drop my computer or have it near food, have good firewall protection, and I even preordered Mac OS Leopard.
    I recently installed Microsoft Office on my Mac, and, out of sheer laziness, I left the CD in the drive. I received my copy of OS Leopard and, as I excitedly went to install it, lo and behold, my CD is stuck in the drive. It makes the most dreadful clicking noise, and the keyboard pops up slightly as it does that.
    Someone help me, please. Do I have to take it in? I have Apple Care, but I really don't want the hassle of having my computer away from me for a week or more. I'm a college student, and I actually NEED this computer to be functional.

  • DSL Drops Out Like Clockwork

    Hello Community. My wired DSL "dropout" issue has been continuous for several years. I again have a new router/modem and have a new direct run of CAT6E cable from the "customer" box directly inside. No house wiring. This is actually the third router/modem and the results are identical.
    About every 45 minutes to an hour, the modem will do a reset. When the modem attempts to restart it is not successfully and then the modem shuts down and restarts completely. The first reset keeps the power light green, the second reset changes the state of the power light to orange then completes the reset sequence successfully.
    This change of events happens EVERY time, time and time again.  I've set and watched every modem I've used do exactly the same thing, exactly amounting to hundreds of times. Once it up, it's fine, for  a while.  The logs show no errors in or out.  This was the same with my original 768k download speed through several upgrades to high speed.
    I said this was the third modem, actually it's more like the 6th or 7th.  I moved away from a device with integrated switch and wireless to the most simple Westell router/modem. I use a separate switch and wireless access point "up the line" so all my internal connections do not go down when the reset "thing" happens. 
    I am an IT professional so I guess I've been too stubborn to admit defeat...Help!! I give up....Thanks!

What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.

  • 10.4.7 mail/exchange problem (not proxy related like everyone else)

    Hi, I have had a problem related to mail and my exchange server since upgrading to 10.4.7, and it is not the socks proxy problem others are having...
    The setup:
    I use Mail to access my .mac, one POP, and one Exchange server, and have a number of rules that take 100% of my messages from all three servers and distribute them to various mailboxes local to my mac.
    What works:
    Everything. I can send/receive mail, connect to all servers, etc. I have no problems in this regard.
    What doesn't work:
    If my "Inbox" mailbox in Mail is NOT the active mailbox (meaning my focus is on some other mailbox/folder), every few minutes my dock icon gets the red "1" new message icon, and the inbox shows the "1" in the circle next to it, but when I click on the Inbox both notifications disappear, and there is no new message. The icon does not bounce, either. When I have the Inbox opened, the new message is over the exchange folder of the inbox, so I know it is somehow related to exchange. This behavior started immediately following the 10.4.7 upgrade.
    If my Inbox is the active mailbox, I never get this new mail notification.
    Other things of note:
    I have a blackberry that is connected to the same exchange server and is not experiencing any problems. The blackberry is not set to reconcile, so it just acts as a client and does't perform any server ops. No server changes were made, and my client configuration has remained the same for months.
    Seems like a 10.4.7 bug to me, but I figured I would try this out first. Any help would be appreciated.

In my Exchange account on Mail.app I have the same occurrence with two folders. 1) In Publicfolders/CompanyName Contacts I always have a message showing - because Exchange recognizes the folder as a mail folder, but cannot parse the contents (The sole contact on the server) as an email. When I open the folder the notification disappears. Close the folder and it reappears. 2) In Inbox when the Exchange server registers a System Administrator - Undeliverable Message response. My Inbox tells me the email is there, but for some reason Mail.app cannot display these messages. Close the folder and it reappears. Sometimes!
    I cannot fix the contacts notification and have learned to live with it, with the Inbox, I log onto the Exchange server through OWA and delete the message off the server. Problem disappears. Chances are there may be an email on your server that mail.app knows is there, but cannot - for whatever reason - display.
    Does your Blackberry show a message that Mail.app doesn't?

  • Frustrating download speeds like everyone else

    I recently had a fault with my line last week i reported it and they said yes there is a fault and your broadband would be back up with 3 hours, well it came back up but i never had any call back or to advise it was back, i noticed from that point the download speeds were down to 256k normally 700k, i logged into my bt account and saw the fault was still open so i assumed its being dealt with, when i checked this morning the fault has been closed and i have had no contact from bt its fixed, the speeds have gone down to 90k and have been like this since yesterday. im running a netgear dg834g wirless router and its been as solid as anything, when i log into the router it tells me connection speed is now 992kbps which is a very slow connection indeed, what i wanted to know is maybe i gotta wait 24hrs for the line to settle and the speeds to come back? but since reading in here theres tons of people the same as me so there is def a pattern to the issues, everytime i see an openreach van down my road does my broadband start playing up, what can you advise me to do here?
    i ran btspeedster and it just sits there doesnt report back.

    I recently switched to a Droid from my iPhone 4s and like many others, I cant receive text messages from anyone who has an iPhone. The reason why I switched was because my phone wouldn't allow me to turn on wifi because it was grayed out. I cant connect to the wifi to deactivate my phone, therefore I wont be recieving any text messages from iPhones for a while. Does anyone know a way to deactivate my iPhone and get imessages to come through on my phone?

  • HP account login issues - just like everyone else - rant alert

    Rant  Are there any plans for HP to consolidate their various systems to allow you to use the same acct login (email/password) across the different platforms (cloud, eprint, etc)?  Being able to recover the account information (passwords, login id, etc) on one system and yet still not be able to use this same email on another system is idiotic.  Either consolidate them into one or separate them completely.  The current situation is a major headache for the consumer.  /Rant 
    I'm trying to setup eprint.  My password is apparently incorrect for the email being used, but the system will not send a reset link to that address because the address is in use by another HP system.  ???  My notes indicate I have a cloud acct associated to this email address.  The password I have on file does not work there.  Attempts to reset the password through the cloud system have been unsuccessful.  The system responds that a password reset link will be sent if the email address is on file, but no links have been sent so far.  I was able to reset the password on this forum for this same email address, but alas this password is not fanned out to the other systems so I'm still stuck.

    The issue you're experiencing is most likely due to an old Snapfish account registered under your email address. ePrintCenter and Snapfish account information is stored in the same place and I've seen this conflict before. You will need to go to http://www.snapfish.com/snapfish/welcome, click the "Sign In" in the top right hand corner of the page and then click the "forgot password" link and enter the email address that is causing your problems, you should receive an email from Snapfish that will let you create a new password there. Once you've created a new password for Snapfish, try to Sign In on ePrintCenter (http://www.eprintcenter.com/) using your email address and the new password you created for Snapfish.
