ITunes dumps songs into my recycle bin

I recently purchased an external hard drive and have begun moving songs from my computer to the external drive. I have been cutting the songs and placing them on the new drive. I then remove the cut songs from iTunes, then drag them back from the new location (external hard drive) and in doing so iTunes recongnizes about half of them and dumps the remainders in the recycle bin. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

so that means that the apps them selves are not being deleted. I have lots of apps in my recyle bin that I want to get rid of and delete but im afraid of doing so cuz I dont want to lose the app itself. is it safe to delete the app out of the recycle bin?

  • I keep finding large numbers of songs in my Recycling Bin!

So I had previously lost 200 songs to some unknown error in iTunes (which it deleted random songs not any specific type). I was able to recover most of them becuase I had backed up my library a month before.
Anyways today I found like 45 of my songs in my Recycling bin which were all just random songs from my library. So I restored the songs and opened iTunes. It seemed iTunes deleted these songs from it's library listing as well.
I was able to remember one of the song names and I found it where it should be in the iTunes folder. Then I opened the song so iTunes would add it to my library.
I just want to know if anyone else has heard of or know of a problem with iTunes where someone can expose a security hole and mess with files like that.
Any help at all would be much appreciated. I don't want to wake up one day and have all my GOOD songs gone.

Well I use AVG Free Edition and it has never done anything like that in the year I've been using it.
I ran an online scan about a week ago but I would have noticed if it had done it then.

  • How come now every time i throw something into the recycle bin it asks for my password and when I do it doesn't show in my bin help please!

How come now every time i throw something into the recycle bin it asks for my password and when I do it doesn't show in my bin help please!

You're throwing away files that either don't belong to you or are in a folder that doesn't belong to you. Since your user account has Administrator privileges, it just ask you for authentication, else it would forbid the operation.
To better understand the concept, select one of your files from your home directory and press Control-I. In the info window, check the Sharing & Permissions section at the bottom. Do the same with one of the files that asks for the password.

  • ITunes Library Keeps Disappearing into my Recycle Bin

    Hi,
Wondering if anyone is having this problem recently. I recently got help from support and requested a re download of all my purchases. They were able to put them all in my account again. However, now my currenly library of 2000+ songs (copies from cd's) are gone. I found them in my recycle bin and restored them all yesterday. Then I proceeded to download the 700 downloads they posted for me again. This morning I had 1700+ songs. No I reopen my library again and I'm down to 103 songs and it's downlaoading another 60. What is going on? This all happened before I had a chance to do a backup. Why is my library disappearing? I've had this HP desktop for about 7 years and iTunes for about 5. It's never happened before. I've read some forums with Sony Viao's having this problem, but I've not seen anyone with HP. I appreciate all help I can get.
    Thanks

    B noir,
Sony people helped with the steps outlined in the document.
I'm happy to say that, for now, the itunes library is not getting dumped.
It's been a big hassle for me for several months. No one knew anything about it. Thank you very much!! Now I can finally change my workout play list!

  • How to import iTunes purchased song into video with "Muvee autoProducer"?

Using an iTunes purchased song and also "Muvee autoProducer" for the first time and can't use my iTunes purchased song to import into my video. Following the instructions the song doesn't come up as a MUSICFILE, but it is found by selecting ALLFILES. It is an Audio file (protected). For some reason the Windows Media player symbol appears as the program to open file. I select to add it to my video and an error occurs:
"The format of the music file that you have selected is not supported."
    5(80040265).
Have I done something wrong ? Can I change the file format in some way to use ?
    Solution is greatly appreciated THANKS!

I think I have figured it out. I found Popcorn 3 and Crunch by Roxio which will do the job!
    Thanks everyone!

  • Any limit for burn itunes purchased songs into a cd?

I wanna ask is there any limit to burn purchased songs into a cd?
If yes, what is the max?
    Thx

There is no limit to the number of times a specific song can be burned onto a CD. A specific playlist can be burned a maximum of seven times without changing the playlist's contents.

  • I'm editing a band deleting songs, then suddenly it deleted all of the songs by an artist!  It's happened twice. Once I tried to restore them from the recycle bin but it did'nt work.  The 2nd time the songs were not in the recycle bin.  Why?

I'm editing a band by deleting songs I do not like on iTunes on my PC. When I believe I'm deleting a song it ends up deleting ALL of the songs by that band (this is after I've deleted many individual songs sucessfully)!  This has happened twice since the new version of iTunes.  The first time I tried to restore the songs from my recycle bin but they just vanished when I tried to restore them.  The second time (today)  the songs were not even in the recycle bin.  Has this happened to anyone else out there? I have to now relocate all of those cd's and then reinstall them and go through them and put songs back onto various playlists (I have a lot of them).  Hassle!!!

Time you backed up so you can recover in the event of a crisis.

  • Consolidating songs into one album using iTunes 12

In earlier versions of iTunes I was able to dump songs into one album, but with the new iTunes 12.0.1.26 I cannot seem to get the songs into one album.  Anyone have any ideas.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello there, jclove.
When songs from the same album aren't grouped together in iTunes, the following Knowledge Base article helps provide some guidance on correcting that issue:
Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together? - Apple Support
Although it may look different in iTunes 12, the functionality is still there, and can be changed.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • I accidentally deleted a song and it's in the recycle bin.  How do I get it back in my music library?

I have a deleted song in the recycle bin that I'd like to restore to my  iTunes library.  How do I  do this?  Thanks for the help.
    JodyfromMarmora

Its worth adding that if you deleted the song using iTunes, you will need to add the track to your library with File>>Add file to library" after restoring it from the recycle bin.

  • Deleted podcasts won't go to the recycling bin

I'm running the newest version of iTunes, freshly installed, in Windows 7. Most of my podcasts come from a backup that I dragged and dropped into my iTunes folder. I've done this before without any issues. However, now whenever I try to delete a podcast that I haven't recently downloaded, it will give me a dialog stating that the podcast won't sync if I delete it, and then the buttons "Delete Podcast" and "Cancel" Rather than the "Keep File" "Remove to Recycling Bin" and "Cancel" that I'm used to. Deleting does not send the podcast into the recycling bin as it is supposed to and as it used to, however; it instead keeps the podcast in the same file and removes the instance from iTunes. I don't want to have to delete every file twice. Selecting all files and clicking on Allow Auto Delete changed nothing. Repairing my install of iTunes did not change anything. It seems as though all other instances of this issue are many years old. Assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

  • Problems emptying RAW files from Recycle Bin

    Hi
I am not sure, but think my problem is connected with Lightroom 1.4.1
When I delete RAW files from disc via Lightroom, they go into the Recycle Bin. However, I am unable to delete them from the bin without using an unlocker program. This is because when I choose to delete individual RAW files from the bin (or choose completely empty bin)I get a message saying that file Dq(number) cannot be deleted as it may be in use by another program. But no other program is open.
I think this only applies to RAW files (Canon CR2) where I have created an editable file in Photoshop CS3. I am fed up with the tedious task of removing each individual Dq/CR2 file from the Recycle bin (the unlocker program will not let me batch delete) and suspect a workaround involving removing the CR2 files from the Lightroom catalogue and then deleting them from their source folder might work.
However, this semms a clumsy way of having to do thistask.
Has anyone else come across this please and does anyone have an elegant solution? Oh, the files concerned are all on an external hard disc, but I cannot see why this should affect things.

Hi, Andrew. I do not have an external HD, so I am not sure if this is related. LR 1.4's seems to do some odd things with files that it sees as Read Only, such as from a CD, DVD, or external drive. Maybe it has something to do with this. Also, can you exit LR, then dumb Recycle Bin normally?

  • File icon stuck behind recycle bin

Somehow a photo file got "stuck" BEHIND the recycle bin icon in my toolbar. No matter what I do, I can't seem to click and drag the file out from behind the recycle bin icon to then throw it INTO the recycle bin. Any ideas on how to fix this? It's been just sitting behind it for months now and I am too dumb to figure out how to deal with it (former PC user and soon to be exclusively PC user)

Hi morrisgal and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Either go to the Apple menu>Dock>Turn Hiding On or just hit the cmdaltD keys. Once the Dock is out of the way drag your file further onto the desktop, hit cmdaltD again and you Dock will reappear.
Another way would be to open a Finder window, navigate to Desktop within Finder, identify the file and drag it to the Trash from there or ctrl click>Move to Trash.
Don't be too hasty in becoming an exclusive PC user, I ditched PCs many years ago after staying up all night trying to disinfect my PC laptop from a virus, and yes, I did have AV software. It got infected before a fix had been released.
I've never regretted the move and leaving aside the virus issue I much prefer the Mac interface as well as the hardware. 'Here' is a wonderful community of fellow Mac users most of whom will go out of their way to help, just for the satisfaction.
    Whatever you decide, good luck!

  • Unable to remove recycle bin entries from user_constraints table

When I do select * from user_constraints table I get few entries like BIN$HY86N3B2RQi/1ODAiR9CTw==$0.
I have tried purging the recycle bin many times but these entries are still there. When i try to read the database information from my code(JDBC Connection) these keys are being read and generating erroneous results.
One more important thing. When i tried to rename these keys, they are getting generated again. Any help on this issue will be very helpful to me. Thanks in advance.

When i tried to rename these keys, they are getting generated again
    >
What does this mean? Show us the statement you used to do the rename.
    >
its not present in the recycle bin but it is present in the table user_constraints only. when i do a select * from user_constraints i get two entries where the constraint_name is like this BIN$.........
    >
Exactly - once you flashback the table the constraints aren't in the recycle bin so you can't purge them from it. But you can rename these if you own them. You don't have to be SYS.
See the 'Notes on Flashing Back Dropped Tables in the SQL reference
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/statements_9012.htm
    >
Notes on Flashing Back Dropped Tables The following notes apply to flashing back dropped tables:
•Oracle Database retrieves all indexes defined on the table retrieved from the recycle bin except for bitmap join indexes. (Bitmap join indexes are not put in the recycle bin during a DROP TABLE operation, so cannot be retrieved.)
•The database also retrieves all triggers and constraints defined on the table except for referential integrity constraints that reference other tables.
The retrieved indexes, triggers, and constraints have recycle bin names. Therefore it is advisable to query the USER_RECYCLEBIN view before issuing a FLASHBACK TABLE ... TO BEFORE DROP statement so that you can rename the retrieved triggers and constraints to more usable names.
•When you drop a table, all materialized view logs defined on the table are also dropped but are not placed in the recycle bin. Therefore, the materialized view logs cannot be flashed back along with the table.
•When you drop a table, any indexes on the table are dropped and put into the recycle bin along with the table. If subsequent space pressures arise, then the database reclaims space from the recycle bin by first purging indexes. In this case, when you flash back the table, you may not get back all of the indexes that were defined on the table.
    >
Just rename the constraints since they are in your own schema.

  • I had the problem of the Apple Sync Notifer.exe showing up every time I signed in.  I finally found it and deleted it and it is in my recycle bin but I am a bit nervous about totally deleting it.   Does anyone know if it is ok to completely delete??

I had a problem with the Apple Sync Notifer.exe showing up every time I signed in.  I finally found a location and
deleted it and it went into my recycle bin.  I was going to clean out the recycle bin and it asked if I really wanted to
