Itunes duplicating memory?

So my iphone has 323 photos but itunes is saying I have doubled the amount (627) and it is taking up 8gb. My iphone also says photos is taking up 8.93gb.
Is there a way to find out if there are hidden duplicates of my photos?

A small amount of storage on your iOS device will be used. The "streaming" in iOS 6 is not what we are traditionally used to. When music is listened to the track is still downloaded to non-permanent storage. However this cache can be deleted at any time.

  • How do i stop iTunes duplicating files?

I have read the past years posts; I do believe they answer this question.
I deleted all the giga bites of duplicate files in the iTunes directory - this took about 5 hours. I then selected edit -> preferences -> advanced and turned off 'keep itunes media folder organised' and 'Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library'. I then - heroically - added in the user folder to itunes and let it run for 15 minutes. Itunes has re-created the duplicates. I'm very unhappy (but am not expecting you to help me with this). But, can you tell me how i stop itunes duplicating all my files when i add in the root folder to iTunes? Please.
More details. When i add the music into iTunes, the files i saved were all the full music title. Itunes duplicates these in two ways. When it simply doubles the number of files, it does so by concatenating the artist's name to the start of the track name separating it from the track name with a '-' and truncating the track name if required. When it triplicates the file name it adds a 1 to the end of the concatenated file name.
I'd really appreciate some help on this, even it it is simply pointing me towards an answer elsewhere on the web. Thank you very much!

The behavior by which iTunes does or does not re-add files it is given is a bit confusing. If the files are located outside the iTunes Media folder, and the library version has been edited since they were added, iTunes will create a new one.
In any case, simply re-adding the whole root folder is asking for trouble.

  • ITunes 7: "memory could not be read" error

I am running the latest version of iTunes 7 and sometimes get the following error message:
"Instruction at Ox5ad71331 referenced memory at 0x00000014. Memory could not be read"
This happens after iTunes crashes. The appearance of the crash is that the font will become very dark/bold and dark lines will appear around the cells of the library, then the program will crash.
Is this related to iTunes 7 or Multi-Plugin, which I use to make my media buttons on my laptop work with iTunes? I have no skinning options chosen.
    Thanks.

I uninstalled the Multi-plugin and haven't had the problem since, in fact, no crashes at all.

  • Export itunes to memory stick - to be used in Ford Synch

I have two questions maybe somebody can answer either or both.
I am getting a Ford with MS Synch installed. I think plugging a ipod or into the usb port and leaving it is a $$ waste since I can control it using voice recognition and do not need to touch the ipod. Also I am concerned about the heat or cold affecting the device.
As an option I can use a USB memory stick with Synch
How can I export my Itunes library and playlists to a memory stick?
Has anybody tried this and access it from Synch? Are playlist and artist, genre etc preserved? Synch can recognize them. But will Itunes output all this info to the stick? Or will I just get a sequential list of songs? Would I have to sort itunes or any other special prep?
    Thanks in advance.

i have the same problem.  i'm trying to upgrade my pm8pm-v motherboard to 2gb of ram.  right now i have 2 ultra pc2-4200 533mhz 512mb sticks in and they work fine but only give me 1g total ram.  i tried 2 sticks of 1gb crucial ddr2 pc2-6400 in each slot.  the motherboard would only recognize 512mb in each slot, no higher.  i thought it might be the crucial memory, so i returned that and purchased 1 stick of 1gb corsair xms2 pc2-6400.  the pdf file on msi's memory help page state that the corsair memory should work.  however, again, the memory slots on the motherboard would only recognize 512mb worth of ram in either slot.  for some reason, i cant get over 1gb of total ram off this motherboard.
any one have any ideas?  is there something in the bios that i need to change?  i've never had this much problem in upgrading memory before.  usually its just click it in and you are good to go.  this is very frustrating.
    thanks.

  • Why My Cpu is getting at 100% when I open ITunes? (Memory problem)

    Good day everyone,
Why is my CPU getting at 100% eating over 700 000k of ram as soon as I open Itunes?
Even if I'm closing the process it reopens automaticly and take all the memory...I am under Windows Vista (Family ed.) and I have the latest version of ITunes...
    Thank you for your help!
    Regards,

Once it opens, type in the following command...
    netsh winsock reset
    hit enter
You should get a message that the winsock reset successful and you will need to reboot your computer.
Reboot and when I reloaded itunes the store loaded fine.

  • Itunes says memory on ipod is full but is actually empty

Hi, I hope someone can help me with this:
I recently downloaded itunes 7 as recommended for my Ipod Nano 2nd generation, my ipod is showing, but when i try to sync my library with my ipod it tells me there is not enough space to do this, the memory bar on itunes tells me my ipod is full but in reality it is empty. Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone tell me how to fix it? Thanks.
    PC   Windows XP

A restore will usually fix this.
See: How to restore the iPod to factory settings.

  • ITunes devours memory?

I've been having a lot of problems with iTunes since the initial download, lol. Right here's a pretty good idea of my previous problems if it can help understand my new problem in any way:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1634474&tstart=0
Anyways, on my old computer (which is much worse than my new one), iTunes ran pretty smooth. I'm pretty sure it never passed 50k usage. On this computer, which is very good, it lingers around 300k+ usage, and the CPU usage bonces all over the place, with occasional freezes.
The CPU usage & freezes happen when i switch from the anywhere to the library (like if im in the music store, and click to go to the library). It pretty much freezes everytime i do. :/
My computer's pretty good in my opinion, so this isn't horribly important, but sometimes i run high-memory usage programs (like f@h or video conversions), and i'd like to listen to music while they're running.
    Thanks guys

    Bump.
Sorry for being such a hassle :/

  • Export from itunes onto memory stick

I have been trying to export my music in MP3 form from iTunes onto a memory stick for use in my car. I can't figure out how to do this. There is lots of information about transferring music to another Apple product, but not a memory stick. I'd appreciate any help.
    Message was edited by: moderator

If the songs are not already in MP3, create MP3 versions using the document 1550 that Niel references.
Insert the memory stick in your computer and open it so it looks like a folder. Then highlight the songs in iTunes and drag them to the folder. This will cause the songs to be copied to the memory stick.
If you happen to be running iTunes in full screen mode, make it smaller so that you can see the folder and you will know what you are doing.

  • ITunes Duplicating all Songs

Everytime I rename a song in itunes it makes two copies of the song one that is renamed and one original. So far it completely duplicated my entire library so as opposed to having 3 gigs of music i have 6 gigs. Is there a simple way to fix this without having to see which specific songs are duplicated and delete each individually?
    Thanks

Everytime I rename a song in itunes it
How are you renaming the songs?

  • Itunes duplicating everything!!!:(

    hey,
So my itunes has been really acting strange for a while now. So a lot or nearly all of my music is duplicated in itunes. And then the files are duplicated in the itunes music folder as well. Some are mp3s, some are mp4s.
My thinking was if i deleted all the duplicates from itunes and the duplicates from the folders. uninstall itunes and then reinstall it should be fine and go back to normal! i was wrong and my lengthy process ended up being a pile of poo!
Can Some please help me find out what is wrong and what i should do? also my music stops all the time, not jumping like a cd but some times will stop for a second and go on?
    Thanks in Advance!
    Clara

this happens when one press convert. maybe u pressed convert acc to mp3 and then it will copy ur aac files to mp3 that leave u with a new copy. and it will be two. it is very annoying, u dont need that. it has happened to me before. it is hard to remove. it can only be done manually. u do this by opening itunes and then make sure u bring the curser on ur music , the first things u see in itunes at the top left hand corner. music. then guide ur curser to where u see view, under view u will see duplicates. now press duplicate , then it will show u all duplicate songs in ur itunes. now u will have the option of removing either aac or mp3 files. i like them in mp3 so i will remove aac.now right click the song u want to remove. and click delete. u will know which one is acc or mp3 by right clicking the song and u will see info click info and it will tell u whether it is pm3 or aac the apple format.

  • ITunes duplicating artwork for same artist but different song.

iTunes is automatically adding artwork to another song of the same artist in my library. I import artwork for one track of an artist and iTunes applies that artwork to all tracks by the same artist. This is silly. They are all singles and I want each track to have the proper artwork.
I have tried deleting the duplicated artwork and adding its own but that doesnt help. I tried restarting iTunes as well.

Thanks for your help but its doesnt really apply to me.
Let me try to be more clear. I have 100 SINGLES that I have in an album that I named "1980 Top 100". I do this because I have 1981, 82, 83, 84..and so on.
Within this album I have a few artist with 2 or 3 singles. iTunes is automatically adding the artwork for "Air Supply - All Out Of Love" to "Air Supply - Lost In Love". I should be able to add a different artwork for each single an artist has within this album. However, I cannot seem to force iTunes to use the artwork I want for a track of the same artist.
THE REASON I BELIEVE THIS CAN BE FIXED:
From those 2 tracks by Air Supply, they each are showing different artwork in their info. Coverflow seems to be grouping the artists.
EDIT: In another album Im getting this:
CoverFlow is not grouping the artist but it is using the same artwork for both even though they each have their own separate artwork in the info...

  • ITunes duplicating albums and songs

ITunes is duplicating my albums. The songs are tagged certain, yet iTunes insists on dividing the album into several parts.
When I delete the folder "iTunes" library and let iTunes again seeking the songs that are on the computer the problem is solved. But I just add a new song that the problem comes back.
I do not know what is happening. Already reinstalled the program and the problem persists. Any solution?

The problem persists. But when I delete the iTunes folder from the music library and iTunes back to browse songs, the albums return to normal, but are messy again when I add a new song.
I'm think it is a bug in this new version of iTunes. Never had this problem. Began after I updated program.

  • IPOD Freezes Itunes and Memory is full of "Other"

I have an 80g Ipod classic and i recently updated my itunes to version 10.6.1 (7).  After my latest sync, my ipod now has no music but 1/2 the memory is full with "other".  I have reset my ipod several times but the music fails to appear.  I cannot restore my Ipod because when I connect it to itunes, the program freezes up.  The application stops responding and I have to close Itunes all together.  All of my music is saved in my itunes library and I dont want to lose any of it.  Someone please help!!!
I also noticed that since the most recent itunes update I am having problems connecting to the itunes store.  It keeps saying check the internet connection and try again.  My internet works fine but for some reason itunes will not allow me to connect to the itunes store.  PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a similar problem with my 120gb classic, my ipod shows no music or any data but states that memory is full of other, I've tried everything I can think of, rebooting does nothing, connecting to pc freezes itunes and I am unable to access in disk mode either, it shows in my computer but just hangs when trying to access it, so a reformat or restore is not an option, diagnostics shows an error when checking harddrive with HDSMARTdata. I'm sorry to say that I have a feeling that our hard drives are buggered cos surely if you cant access it you can fix it. Very dissapointed with apples service as mine was an under warranty replacent which was resseting itself randomly exessively often, sometimes up to 6 times a day from when I received it, I sent it back within two days stating it had a fault only to have it sent back the next day being told its fine! It is obvious that apple have sent me a replacement ipod with a recycled hard drive which was obviously faulty from day one and now its given up the ghost, I very much regret not holding my ground and demanding a fully working replacement at the time as now I have to fork out for yet another ipod!
