Itunes - each track off by 8 seconds

I am actually having 2 problems whille ripping audio. The 1st is when everything is off by 8 seconds. Track 2 starts 8 seconds later than it should and has the 1st 8 seconds of track 3.
The other problem I'm having is a non-linear rip. Where it seems on beat it jumps from 4 seconds to 34 seconds in the song and after 4 seconds back again.
Both of these problems have existed for me previous to version 7 but only for the last 2 months. Not sure if it is hardware or software based. I guess I will have to try some other programs and see if I get the same results. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this ? Also, do you have any good mo3 rippers that are free and will work in os x. This problem is on my Mac G4 at work. It's a 1.25 single processor running the latest os x, i tunes, and quicktime. I thought I had it figured out but I got the 8 second error when I shouldn't have. I have a digi002 which connects via firewire. I've been quitting pro-tools and powering off the digi002 while ripping. I haven't gotten the non-liner error with it shut off. I could also try physically unplugging the digi002 from the firewire port.

I don't know, Maybe Office 2008 doesn't play nice with Lion. Was 2008 working previously with Lion? Did you have these problems with Snow Leopard?

All I can suggest is uninstalling and starting over with a fresh installation.
Alternatively don't use Office at all. Instead use one of the Office substitues that supports Word documents (OpenOffice, LibreOffice, NeoOffice). Also there's Apple's Pages and MS Office 2011.

Itunes keeps cutting off the last few seconds of each track!

I'm trying to import from a CD, and for some (but not all) of the tracks being imported, when I go to play them from my Library, itunes skips the last few seconds of the song and jumps to the next one. Usually it wouldn't be a problem, because most tracks on CDs have some dead time at the end, but for these you are supposed to go directly from one track to another - without down time in between or skipping any of the track (one song is spread out over several tracks).
I've tried re-importing the tracks using both the AAC encoder and MP3 encoder, specifying the the track end at a particular time (stop time - this information shows up when I "get info" on the track, under options) and the track length in my library shows up as that exact time from the CD. itunes just doesn't play the full length of the track!
How do I get itunes to play each track to the very end before jumping to the next one?

iTunes should play the full track. Did you tick the 'Crossfade playback' checkbox in Preferences>Playback? If so, uncheck it.
If the problem persists you can check if it's an inporting problem or an iTunes setting problem by doing this:
In iTunes select a 'problemtrack'.
Choose 'Show Song File' from the File menu (command-R).
Select the file and control-click on it.
Choose 'Open With' and select 'Quicktime Player' as the program to open the file with.
Now play the 'problemtrack' in Quicktime Player to the end and see if it still skips the last seconds.
If it plays the full track, your imports are OK.

How 2 Import a CD into Itunes? I only get first few Secs of each track!!

I have just bought an Ipod and am having trouble importing my Cds into Itunes !!!
I seem to have the 'intro function' on in Itunes so I can only get the first few seconds of each track !!
Does anyone know how I can import the complete tracks and how I turn this Itunes intro setting off ?

let's try checking up on some of the simpler possibilities:
You can't import or play music from an audio CD in iTunes for Windows

... but if no joy, post back with your itunes "help > run CD diagnostics". one of the clever folk might be able to spot something in those.

Applescript for playing each track for a second?

Well, does anyone know about a script that would play each track in my iTunes music library for just a second and then go to the next one?
There are a few details, though, that might make things a bit more complex:
first of all, occasionally, some of the tags might change, as soon as the track is beginning to play, e.g., the artist might change
(I guess this has to do with iTunes Match - I'm seeing a few funny behaviours since I've switched on iTunes Match).
Second, occasionally, iTunes will complain that "The song ... could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
In those cases, the script should "press" 'cancel'.
Actually, the latter is the main reason why I would like to have this script:
a number of tracks don't seem to be locally in my iTunes library any more, but they are still in the list, and still in the iCloud.
In order to find those tracks more easily, I would like to have this script.
Ideally, the script would then also click on the iCloud symbol with the downward arrow.
(I have tried the script from Doug's scripts at http://dougscripts.com/ that finds dead tracks, but I would still have to manually go through all tracks
and do a lot of clicking, double-clicking, etc.)
Any ideas , pointers, or applescript pieces would be most appreciated.
(I am a very very casual applescript programmer, but I feel comfortable with a few other languages, such as C++)

From your description it sounds like the goal is to identify the missing tracks. Is that the case?
That is correct - sorry for being too complicated.
In fact, it's even easier - tracks that exist on disk are referred to as file tracks and ones in iCloud are shared tracks, so you can simply:
tell application "iTunes"
get every shared track
end tell

In ITunes when I'm using home sharing if I play the songs on another computer it cuts the songs off maybe 10 seconds plus from the end why is it doing this?

So I have ITunes Home Sharing on my desktop computer on. When I go to another computer and play the songs from the Home Share computer the songs get cut off maybe 10 seconds + at the end of the song. In other words it will not play the last 10 seconds of the song sometimes it's last 5 seconds sometimes its the last 15 seconds it seems to vary. I can't really find a pattern on the timing but I just don't understand why this is happening please help!

I've purchased several comedy albums on itunes and they're sent to my music file, which I don't like since I like to shuffle all songs. I put the albums in audiobooks but each track is listed seprately instead of by album. Is there a way to fix that?

I've purchased several comedy albums on itunes (or uploaded from my cd collection) and itunes stores them in the music file. I prefer not to have them stored there since I often put my ipod on shuffle all songs and I hate having comedy bits pop up. So I went into "get info" of each track and changed it from music to audiobooks. That transfered everything into audiobooks but when I synched my ipod, I realized that the comedy tracks are all listed individually instead of under their albums. This doesn't work obviously since I want to listen to the album as a whole. I was wondering if there's a way to store my comedy albums in my audiobooks but have them stay in album format. Can anyone help me on this?

Welcome to the Apple community.
Only one of your libraries needs to use your iTunes Store Apple ID for home sharing. Your other computers can use their own ID for iTunes, so long as they use the same ID as all of the devices on the network for home sharing.

My ipod classic turns on with apple logo then shuts off about 30 seconds later, when plugged in my windows and itunes will not recognize it.

earlier my itunes told me that my files were corrupted and I needed to restore, so I did. In the middle of the restore I lost internet connection. Now my computer and Itunes will not recognize my Ipod and if it is not plugged in when I turn the Ipod on it only shows the apple logo then shuts off after 30 seconds. If it is plugged in it will charge, but Itunes and Windows will not recognize it. I have tried the menu + select shutoff multiple times with no change. All it will say while it is charging is do not disconnect.

The clicking sound is your iPod Hardisk, trying to retract and find the boot sector unsuccesfully.
Hopefully, you can do the iPod Disk Diagnostic as in this great post by tt2., it wont fix your problem, but let you know, how dire is your Hardisk health.
So only as a last resort, one way, to get the stuck Hardisk head free, is to bang the iPod on a rubber mouse pad, when you reset it, but do it at your own risk, some very lucky guys got it working again for the next 14 months, like myself.

If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.

HELP - Itunes thinks that each track is over 1 GB?!

recently installed the new itunes (7.2.3) and now it thinks that each track is over 1 GB and all tracks amount to 800 GB which is quite ridiculous. what can I do?!

I am have problems loading a cd onto i-tunes. No matter how many times I try to load a particular cd it will only load the first 9 seconds of each track. Can anyone help?

If it was a recent purchase you could take it back to the store and return it as "not fit for purpose", then buy a digital version. If it is too late for that I suppose you could try contacting the record company but I doubt they care at this point since they have the money. Can't really go into any possible workarounds without breaching the TOU.

Having connected my new iPhone 6 to itunes and setting it up as normal... i transferred music to it as normal but when i open the music app and select a playlist it has a download cloud next to each track...

After connecting my new iPhone 6 to iTunes, i transferred my music as i always have done. After opening the music app and selecting a playlist there is a download cloud next to each track... this is also the case with each podcast. Also once i reconnect the phone to iTunes go to add another playlist, at the top the "sync music" check tick has disappeared. when i re check that box again it says "Do you want to sync this iPhone all data will be erased"
can anyone help at all?
