Itunes empty when opened

When I open Itunes it is empty, no files show up at all. Then after I import my Itune folder and plug in my ipod I get the message that my ipod is synced with another itunes and that I have to earse and sync my ipod.
how can i sync my ipod and itunes so that i don't have to go through the process every multiple times (I've already erased and synced twice today alone)
how can i open up itunes and be sure that my files show up in itunes.

I'm going to assume that you have a windows pc since
you didn't specify, also because usually pc users are
the ones who have problems. It might be a good idea
to list your specifications.
See if Jeff's post here helps you out.

  • I finally know why my iTunes crash when open!

SInce last month, my iTunes crash everytime when open.
I asked the question at: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6021712
Later, I found that turn off wifi make iTunes work fine.
Finally, today i know the true reason, because I use a global proxy by .pac file (for across the great wall)
If connect apple.com default with proxy cause iTunes crash.

Transferred Itunes library from pc to new mac; however, when opening itunes on the new mac it reported that the library was created with a newer version of itunes and could not be opened. Hello, Stephen.
Thank you for the question.  You will need to rebuild your iTunes library file in order to open an older version of iTunes.  Below, I have included the article that walks you through this process.  Start with the section labeled Re-creating the iTunes Library file.

  • File is empty when opening in Windows CS2 after saving from Leopard CS3

I have CS3 installed on my new Mac running Leopard. When I save a file and take it to my windows machine running CS2, I get a message that "the file was created by a newer version of Illustrator, and some data may be lost." Most times it just opens a empty file. Is there a way to prevent this from happening, without installing CS3 on my windows machine?

In CS3 click SAVE AS and save as CS2 file. Then try opening on Windows machine.

  • NEED HELP ITUNES FREEZES WHEN OPENED PLEASE HELP

    hello all
whenever i open itunes on my macbook, the loading pinwheel comes up and doesn't go away until i quit itunes or turn off my computer. my itunes will 'freeze' whenever i open it and will not let me play songs or anything. please help me!

There are a lot of things that could cause this and your songs are rarely in jeopardy when the issue is iTunes so don't worry.
If you could give us your iTunes version number, and the OS version you currently have those would help narrow a little.
Did you install or change anything around the time that this started happening?
Also explain exactly what happens. does the itunes window open than hangs with pinwheel or does the application bounce like it's going to open then hang instead.
I would, even if just for good maintenance, repair permissions by going to your utilities folder opening Disc Utility selecting your HD from the left and clicking verify disc permissions. Also make a new user to test to see if iTunes opens there, if it works in a new user it's an issue with one of your user specific files, and there would be much less to sort through.
More info will help a lot in figuring out whats going on.

  • Help Itunes hangs when opening

I have 250GB of music located on a HP Mediaserver located on my network. My main computer is connected via a N network. Everytime I open Itunes it hangs for a very long time. When it unfreezes, it will play music, but take a very long time when searching for this selected music. It also freezes during playback. Any ideas?

So I managed to shortly the hang time significantly by moving the itunes music folder location to the network drive. Previously it was local on my laptop. It still hangs but only for about a minute now.

  • Help, iTunes crashing when opening!

I'm helping out a friend who is haping some trouble with her newly upgraded iTunes. This is her summary of the problem.
"I'm on a Windows XP computer just so you know. When I tried opening iTunes, it said something about sending an error report. I did and a window popped up that said Solution found: contact Apple Computer to obtain the update, and there was a link on that page which lead me to this article. It sounded like it covered my problem, but I couldn't delete anything by QuickTime like it said to. When I tried it would say the following file does not exist or is not a valid uninstallation log file. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and Quicktime, and I tried getting into Windows Explorer and getting into the files to delete QuickTime, but that wouldn't delete it either. I don't know why iTunes constantly has an error report pop up whenever I try to open it, and QuickTime won't delete. Could someone help me?"
I was trying to help her but everything I could think of was not working.
    Please help.

  • Itunes crashing when opened since latest update with windows 7

About a week and a half ago Itunes said I needed to update. I did that and ever since then it has been crashing whenever I try and open it. Is there a fix or anything? I'm not finding much about it and it would let me contact apple support unless I pay $20. I'm lost. I've trying running as admin, restarting, repairing. I have no reinstalled and would like to avoid that because I'll have to go through all my music again and readd it and also uncheck and check all the boxes for syncing to ipod since I don't want everything to do that.

Another idea has come to mind...
Triple click anywhere in the line below to select it and press Ctrl+C to copy it.
    cmd /k netsh winsock reset
Press the WinLogoKey+R to open the run dialog, then Ctrl+V to paste, then press enter/return.
You should get something similar to this:
    Reboot the computer. Any change?
Ah, we've posted at the same time. When Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases is enabled, and you are signed into your account, iTunes checks the store for your purchase history and attempts to reconcile that with the content of the library. Any purchase that isn't your library will be displayed with a cloud symbol and you can stream or download the item. With it disabled there is nothing to do. Please try the suggestion above and see if it has any impact on whether you can successfully enable the iCloud items.

  • How to stop automatic connection to itune store when opening itunes?

when ever i try to open i tunes without internet connection,a warning diallog box appears saying that  'itunes cannot connect to itunes store.check internet connection'.ive tried disabling store, podcasts and everythng in itune preferences but still doesnt make any change..please help me out..please..:(

There is no issue here. If you have no Internet connection, it's impossible to access the store, therefore iTunes will alert you with this message so you don't get confused. You can use all the other offline features on iTunes, so you shouldn't be going through so much trouble to solve something which isn't a problem. There is no way to stop iTunes automatically attempting to access the store when you open iTunes, so you'll have to deal that message. If I'm not getting the issue, please tell me.

  • ITunes freezes when opening, please help

Whenever I try to open my iTunes it starts by "updating" my library, then it either freezes halfway through that or it freezes about 2 seconds later. I've tried to figure it out but nothing I try has been working. I've noticed that iTunes is trying to download a podcast right after but I don't know if that's the problem. I've tried to unsubscribe to the specific podcast but I can't get to it in time before it freezes. please help me
    Dell Demension E310   Windows XP

    Hi
I had the same and I feel that your library is corrupted. Don’t be afraid since I could repair the iTunes following the next steps:
    A) Recreate the library:
    Follow these steps:
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Locate your iTunes folder.
 For Mac OS X the iTunes folder is stored in one of the following locations:
    /Users/username/Music
 For Microsoft Windows XP and 2000 the iTunes folder is stored in
    \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
 For Microsoft Windows Vista the iTunes folder is stored in
    \Users\username\Music\
    3. Open your iTunes folder.
    4. Drag the iTunes Music Library.xml to the Desktop
    5. Drag the following file from your iTunes folder to the Trash:
     Microsoft Windows: "iTunes Library.itl"
    6. Open iTunes.
    7. From the File menu, choose Import.
    8. Navigate to the iTunes Music Library.xml file on the Desktop.
    9. Windows users: Click Open.
Moreover you should follow the next steps.
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Move the iTunes Library file located at C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes to your desktop
    3. Open iTunes.
    4. From the File menu, choose Add Folder to Library.
Navigate to the folder where your music is located. Typically this is
    C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
In this way I could repair the iTunes 7.2. I apologize for my poor English and I hope to be of help for you.

  • Itunes crash when opening the store, windows xp, error in "***.dll"

    Hi,
every time, when I select in iTunes 11.1.5.5, windows XP (32 Bit) the store's start page (menu store/start page), it crashes.
All information I can get from windows after that, is that itunes crashed in w.t.f.dll. (sorry , this board does not allow to type the dll's name without points between the characters)
I already tried to completely uninstall all apple software and reinstall it after a windows restart, following exactly the steps
    under http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Unfortunately the crash still appears as before.
Has someone found a fix or a workaround?
    Best regards

As I've just posted in Voo-Doo's thread that isn't an error message I've seen myself.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

    Hello Angelo,
the thread starter was logged in last in 2010. I don't think he will see and answer your question. ;)
You should open a question yourself to get help with your problem. Don't forget to explain the problem in detail, also what you already tried and checked and include the version of your systems and the log entry if the error. That should get you started. :)
    Regards,
    Steffi.

  • Itunes error when opening

I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes to get the 64bit version and now I get this error "The file itunes library .itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes." It is the newest itunes 64 bit version installed from the itunes page.
    JUST FOUND THE ANSWER THANKS!

Hi there - I have had this exact problem after restoring my computer. I have just had the problem again and found this article. By following all the advice, I was able to get itunes back running again.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
The other thing to do is delete the Quicktime icon from your desktop toolbar. Also in the section which talks about Emptying your Temp Directory, my system would not let me do this as some files were "bring used", so I went into the temp folder and manually deleted any which related to itunes or Quicktime.
    Hope this helps.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)
