ITunes Equalizer acting up

The equaizer is acting up.  Unless I move the 500Hz slider, everything is muffled.  When I change EQ selections (acoustic, loudness, etc_), they will hold for one song, and then go back to the "muffled sound" on the next tune. I am also having trouble disabling it.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!  Thank you!!

Is there a way that iTunes can act as a Radio Alarm Clock?
I have found the radio station I enjoy listening to in the iTunes Radio List. Is there anyway iTunes (and my Mac) can be set to come-on from Sleep mode and start playing that Radio Station at specific times of the day?
Any App or plug-in that does that?
    Many thanks

Turning your Mac into a clock radio.
    1.  In iTunes create a playlist that contains just the radio station you want to wake up to.
    2.  Export the playlist (as .m3u works well).  Get Info on your playlist file and look at the Open With entry to make sure it points to iTunes, VLC or some other app that will stream your station.
    3.  In iCal create an event entry at the time you want to wake up.
    4.  Right (or Control) click on your wakeup event and select Get Info.
    5.  For "alarm" select Open File.
    6.  Now under Open File there will be a place to add the file to open.  It will probably be some default entry (like iCal).  Click on it will allow you to select "other."  Then use the file dialog to select your playlist file.
Your Mac will wake you up at the appointed time.  You don't need to keep iCal running.  If you want to put you Mac to sleep for the night then there is one more thing you need to do.  Open System Preferences to Energy Saver and click on the Schedule button.  Check Start up or wake and set the wake up time to slightly before your iCal alarm time.

Ok. So my iTunes started acting up a few months ago. ALL of the songs I purchased from the iTunes store stop in the middle of the song and then go back to the begining (I keep it on repeat one song by the way). Please help!!! (Windows 7) I would really like to hear my songs all the way through, but I can't . I tried the "Convert Protected ACC files to Purchased ACC files fix" but it DIDN'T work. I don't know what to do. It does it when I transfer the music onto my Classic too.

  • ITunes Equalizer in Vista x64 Version

The iTunes equalizer just allows me to select presets from the pull-down menu. When I select "manual," there are no sliders present to make adjustments. The window enlarge/decrease button at the time right of the window is not functioning. Anyone know how to get the slider bars to appear in the iTunes equalizer in Vista?

Here's another update...I go the Itunes store, check out some TV shows, and then click on one (to preview, I hope) and CRASH!!!
    C'mon Apple, what's up?

  • My itunes is acting weird

A few days ago my itunes started acting funny. It would make my music skip, stop, ect. Now when I open itunes it say analyzing data and the pinwheel pops up. I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it and it does the same thing. Any ideas?

It sounds a bit like a compatibility mode may have been set for iTunes.
Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

  • What is the best iTunes Equalizer settings for Bose QC15 Headphones?

What is the best iTunes Equalizer settings for the Bose QC15 Headphones? An image of those settings would be great.

I'm a bit of an audio geek, so I can tell you that YES whatever sounds right is what you want, but NO those settings are not very good. The general setting is "OK" but the values are extremely out of range. Take that setting and reduce the distance between the sliders and you're getting there. Look for example at how the other iTunes presets are made, the don't go that far from the horizontal middle, and for good reason.
When you play a recorded song, the song has usually been put through an extensive process of mixing, EQ and mastering before you got it, in order to get the best balance of all frequencies, to ensure the best sound accross a wide range of speakers and headphones, and to ensure the most important details and instruments are audible when played together.
All speakers are different, and that's where the idea of an EQ for the listener is introduced. The idea is to tweak the overall sound from your music player (iTunes) to compensate for the strengths and weaknesses of your speakers. Which to be honest, is a bit much to expect form a typical music consumer.
The iTunes EQ has a set of horizontal lines representing 3dB (volume steps) each. In my experience you should not boost or cut more than 6 db at the most - and that's a lot! I stay at around 0-4dB. The extreme options are there to cut noise from bad recordings or emphasize a detail you can't hear very well.
    So here's basic EQ lesson:
The EQ represents the range frequencies in sound that the human ear can hear. Actually they go beyond that - most people cannot hear the far left and right frequencies. The range of frequencis start at "deep" or "low" frequencies at the left (bass) passing through the Midrange (midtones) in the center, to the (treble) at the right.
Your speaker has a limit to how many frequencies it can play at once before it starts to lose detail - meaning one sound will drown out in order to make room for another. So don't over-EQ your sound or it'll ruin it.
    How to tweak an EQ:
    1) Start by playing a well-produced piece of modern music  - it'll most likely be well mixed and employ a wide range of frequencies. I'm into heavy metal but for this I'd probably go with some average pop music, because metal is so noisy it gets hard to pick out the details.
    2) Set you EQ to FLAT - zero all accross the board. It'll sound pretty flat and boring unless your speakers are very "flavoured" or "colored" already.
Sliding any of the EQ bar up, will increase or boost the volume of the frequency the bar represents. You can't really add frequencies that aren't there already - you're just adding noise in that freqeuncy and that will "fill up" the available frequencies on your speaker, causing that "drowned out" effect I was talking about.
Instead, slide them down from the center, and you're cutting the volume instead. This is better because it'll leave more "room" for the other frequencies. You can always use the Preamp slider at the end if you're worried about loudness (but I wouldn't).
    3) Start by tweaking the 500 and 1K slider. This represents the middle of your ears' range of hearing and the most noticable change. It should most likely go downwards - this will take the "canned" sound out of your music and that'll be apparent quickly. Go ahead and slide that down as far as -6dB.
    4) Now work outwards from the center forming a "v" shape, where the top tips of the V end at the 64 slider and the 8k slider. The very far left and right sliders (32 and 16K) should dip down again to about 0bB. Trust me, these are almost non-important in most music. You can tweak thos last if you feel it's needed.
    5) now it's time to start playing round with the V shape. Go ahead and try sliding the sliders a little up or down between 125-250 and 1K to 4K. You may find that some need to move a lot out of the average "V" shape before the sound is good. This is what my iTunes EQ settings ended up looking like for my Motörheadphones "Motorizer" headphones:
    Hope it helps.

  • How to restore deleted iTunes equalizer presets?

I am using iTunes 12 on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
A few years ago, I deleted all the iTunes equalizer presets and made a bunch of custom presets. Despite several upgrades to iTunes, my custom presets have persisted (good on ya Apple). However, I'd like to delete these custom presets and restore the defaults. Is there an easy way to do this without completely erasing my library?

For uscsparticus, there's a question for you:
If is saved from iCloud, you'll be able to get back or not?

  • Itunes Equalizer not working for video - only affecting songs

I have noticed that any Itunes equalizer settings that I select only affect songs in my itunes library. Videos are not affected at all by the equalizer settings. This means if I have a very dull sounding video I cannot use the equalizer to improve the audio. Does anyone know how to make the equalizer affect videos within itunes. Thanks in advance

Apple does not care. You have already bought their product and that's all that matters... They got your money and they're happy; you don't have to be. Sadly, all you've paid for is a nice logo on the back of what should be an amazing device.
Only buy an iPod/iPad/iPhone/iDevice if you are trying to impress your friends. Don't buy one if you want to be impressed, because this will not be the case. It will serve no purpose beyond making you look as though you have money to throw away.
But, since you have already given them your hard-earned money, I suggest you don't use an EQ setting. "Off" works best as it produces the least amount of distortion on the iDevices I've tried.
Hope this helps and "enjoy" your Apple experience.

  • ITunes Equalizer vs My Stereo's Equalizer

I just got a new Yamaha stereo receiver that I'm feeding my music to through Airtunes (genius!), and I have a question for the audiophiles out there...
Is it better to equalize my songs through iTunes and not on the stereo?
Or is it better to turn off the iTunes equalizer and adjust the sound on the stereo receiver?
    Or some combo of both?
Any thoughts as to what would sound the best?
(My music is mainly bass-heavy dance/funk/hip hop and the lower end can get really blown out if I don't adjust it all correctly.)

An equalizer either boosts or decreases the signal centered on the labeled frequency. You can adjust the equalizer to have a smooth transition to a deeper bass by having each bass frequency up'd slighted more as you go deeper. If you just did the lowest bass frequency, it might overshadow some of the other bass frequencies. The more frequency controls on an equalizer, the more fine-tuning you can do, but at some point you reach a point of diminishing returns. Really cheap units might have three equalizer controls: bass, middle, and treble.
How to equalize depends on the speakers, the room they are in, and your listening preferences. An equalizer setting may not sound the same when you are hooked up to two different sets of speakers or in different locations. Because the listening experience is so subjective, there is no one correct way to equalize - adjust it until it sounds right for you.
I tend to leave the equalizer flat when playing on decent speakers. When I am listening on my computer speakers, I use the "Small Speakers" setting in iTunes' equalizer. I do not recommend using preset ambient settings that are supposed to mimic this or that kind of hall because those settings will work against any ambient atmosphere already in the recording. But I see no reason not to experiment with them and if you like them, that's fine.
If you are interested in bass, go ahead and boost the bass some. If you are interested in vocals, I would find either a recording of someone reading or talking or else someone singing acepella and adjusting for the human voice (in the same way photographers adjust prints to match skin tones).

  • ITunes is acting like its the first time I've logged on.

I'm trying to sync my iPod to my itunes account because I recently added new songs to it. When I opened itunes its acting as if I've never used it. No songs are showing up at all. What do I do? I'm more concerned about syncing my iPhone because i don't want to lose all my apps and contacts that are stored in my itunes account. Please help.

    Hi Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    *Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash*
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the *Previous iTunes Libraries* folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename *iTunes Library.itl* as *iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl* and then rename the restored file as *iTunes Library.itl*. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch (Windows) or Music Folder Files Not Added (Mac) and Super Remove Dead Tracks (Mac) for tools to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working *make a backup!*

  • Itunes 8 acting like a virus on vista - not blue screen

Hey, I just downloaded and installed the latest version of itunes onto my windows vista, and it caused the computer to act weird like it had a virus or something, now whenever I try to delete it from the computer it tells me I "don't have permission to do that" like itunes has locked itself into the computer.. Also often when I right click on a file a random message pops up and says that windows is searching for a solution for the problem, then it takes me back to the desktop and closes any programs I have open.. This is not the blue screen so many people have reported, it's just screwing up my computer and has locked itself in so it can't be deleted

My Library files are still on the C drive as the instructions said to leave them there
While it is implied that I can move ITunes music files off my C drive to make more space
Quote: "If your hard drive is nearly full after loading all your music and other media into iTunes, or if you just want to move all those music and media files to another hard drive on your system, here's a way to make the move while retaining all your playlists, ratings, and play history."
In fact I now see that ITunes Help seems to suggest something different. I got here by pressing the question mark while in the pop up box for "Edit, Preferences, Advanced"
    Quote:
"By default, songs and other files you import into iTunes are placed here:
    My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Media
    Hide
To change the default location of imported files:
Choose Edit > Preferences, and click Advanced.
Click Change and select a new location for your files.
From now on, new songs and other items you import are stored in the new location. Songs you’ve already imported stay in their current location. (emphasis mine)
To restore the iTunes Media folder as the default storage location, click Reset (in the Advanced pane of iTunes preferences)."

  • ITunes Account Acting Up

Why is my account acting up??!! I DEMAND SOME ANSWERS!!!! YOU GUYS ARE REALLY STARTING TO **** ME OFF!!!! I had made two purchases of 19.99 and 9.99 and they both went through and yet they keep saying that there's a billing problem!!!! What the **** is going on??!! And again my music library deleted 45 songs even with 1.4 GB of available space!!!! Why the **** does it have to delete music or anything for that matter just to save space. Why doesn't it just stop downloading??!! There had better be a way to fix that!!!! I tried to be patient and calm but I just can't stand it when they remove music without my knowledge or permission!!!! And you guys need to speed up your billing process, it should not take several days to approve the transactions!!!! Sorry about the rant but I had to just get it out.

I just upgraded to the latest version of ITunes and the equalizer does not open. A window opens but there's nothing there??? Running win xp pro. Everything else is fine. Anybody got any ideas? Thanks

FWIW, I've uninstalled then reinstalled my router software and reconnected the router into the system. However, the install wizard informed me that an internet connection could not be established. Following instructions to disconnect the modem's power then reconnecting does not change anything. Interestingly, I can still access the internet with the router as a part of the system (as I am typing on this very PC). I am unable to connect to the internet through this router when using wireless devices (laptop, iPod). With iTunes Store and now the router SAYING a connection can not be made, one now suspects this may not necessarily be an iTunes problem...
    Hopeful for some suggestions--thanks!
