ITunes erases what I've copied each time I open iTunes after transferring
I'm at my wits end, hope someone can help.
I have a new iPod and downloaded iTunes. I started transferring my CDs via iTunes and synced them up with my ipod with no problems. However, after the first initial 20 CDs or so, I shut the computer down and the next day wanted to continue. First, the music was no longer there. Then, when I transferred the same CDs again to iTunes, thinking it was just my error in some way, when I tried to sync my ipod up again, I got the error message that my iPod is linked with another iTunes library, and to sync with this 'new' one I need to delete the old files off the iPod. So I did. Now this SAME thing has happened again. This is a brand new ipod.
Basically iTunes is 'new' each time I open it (with no files) and does not recognize my ipod as being synced with it.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks in advance for any tips
cheers
Jessica
Welcome to AD!
Vaio users worldwide have been seeing this problem. Some Sony software causes a conflict with iTunes. You need to set the Sony Content Folder Watcher to leave the iTunes folder alone.
Looks like Sony may have put out an update for that in Asia:
http://www.sony-asia.com/support/faq/300917/productcategory/itpersonalcomputer
Contact Sony to see if they have an update for your model, or configure its software to leave itunes alone.
There is a way to configure the sony software - I don't have a Vaio, but this older topic has directions

"Welcome to Itunes" each time I open itunes
Hi all,
Only recently, each time i open up itunes, I get a screen "Welcome to Itunes" and it wan't to take me through steps to set up my library and import songs etc. I don't want to do anything that might possibly cancel my music library, so I say "Cancel" but it keeps popping up each time I open itunes.
Any ideas?
Thanks,Has anyone solved this "Welcome To iTunes" popup every time you start iTunes? I get it every time. I run Windows XP Pro, iTunes 8.0.2.20, iPod Classic 120GB firmware 2.0.1. I don't believe iTunes has updated itself once since I've installed it (just bought my iPod a month ago).
I tried the shortcut fix I've read all over the internet, about deleting the original shortcut and creating a new one, etc.. to no avail.
All I have to do is click "cancel" on the "Welcome to iTunes" popup when I start iTunes and I get into iTunes normally with all my settings/music intact, but it is just a pain in the but and if someone else comes and uses my PC and clicks through the wizard without clicking "cancel" I'd probably lose everything.
Please help... A couple hundred bucks dropped on this cool gadget and it should work...shouldn't it? -
Need to re-add computer to iTunes Match each time I open iTunes
Every time I start up iTunes (10.6.1.7) on my Windows Desktop PC (Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit), I see the cloud with lightening bolt icon next to the music item in the iTunes Library indicating that iTunes is not connected with iTunes Match. I am able to work around the issue easily enough by clicking on the store menu, turning off iTunes Match, and then turning iTunes Match back on (and entering my Apple ID password and waiting a few minutes for iTunes Match to redo the initialization process). I would like to actually solve the problem instead of having to work around it every time I fire up iTunes. Any recommendations?
Thanks!I have iTunes 10.6.1(7) 64 Bit on OSX Lion 10.7.4 and I have to log into and resetup iTunes Match every time I open iTunes after I have restarted my Mac.

My computer crashed and I had it moved over to my Sony Varo lap top, I have all sorts of problems since this has been done and when I installed the latest ITunes 11 download I thought it had solved my problems, but it hasn't! It still won't save my playlist, every time I open up my lap top my playlist has gone!
Has anyone got the same issue as me or can help to solve my problem!emcg23 wrote:
I have been trying to sync/back up my iphone and ipad but iTunes is saying I need to update my iphone to version 11.1 or later
No, your iPhone i s telling you that you need iTunes 11.1 or greater on your computer in order to sync with the computer.
I've been having problems with iTunes on my PC so I re-installed it but it's been a nightmare trying to get it to work.
Then you should fix this issue with iTunes before you try to sync your iPhone to it.

Can someone tell me what to o with this problem?
First you need to do what hideftv recommends to remind it to look on the external, then you need to do what Chris CA recommends to stop it from reverting again. You are positive the drive is mounted before starting iTunes?
Is there anything else about your setup that would help us resolve this? Nothing unusual such as this drive being shared with a PC occasionally, or you renaming the drive, or...? -
Each time I open iTunes, I get a message that says "A newer app
"A newer app exists in your library than the one you want to move. Do you still want to replace?" I click no and it goes through a bunch, and it happens everytime. How can I get it to stop?
Hi and thanks again for trying to help.
Definitely works ok from pc.
Have deleted and re-established account a few times now but still the same.
I have actually given up and added gmail account which is working fine.
Sends and receives no problem.
Bloody bigpond....
We are not remote at all. Sitting in the fantastic Pavilion Hotel in Phnom Penh. Another couple here having trouble but not bigpond. Hotel staff have tried to help but to no avail.
Giving up and stick with gmail until we get home then start trying to get resolution.
Problem actually existed on a personal wi fi network in Melbourne before we left so I should have tried to resolve it then.
Thanks again for suggestions.

ITunes keeps analysing my entire library each time I open it.
Heading pretty much explains the problem.
It has only recently started doing this. I've tried checking and unchecking the various crossfade playback buttons in prefs but that doesn't make any difference. How to make it stop.Hi,
Files that contain the .itl file extension are database files that are used by the iTunes media software application. These files are used by the iTunes software to organize the music files in a user's iTunes music library. The ITL file contains a log of the songs in the user's iTunes library as well as the user's playlists, any comments the user may have created for a particular track and the user's song ratings.
While the ITL file does reference the song's on a user's hard drive, it does not contain any actual media data in and of itself.
There for match needs to scan the individual files.
Uploaded tracks do not use up storage space Specifically for IOS devices!! You can access/ stream from non IOS devices i.e. computers
Icloud Status column shows tracks have been "matched", "purchased", "uploaded", "duplicate", "Error", "Waiting", "Removed" or "inelligible". It does not have a cloud with a line through it. Symbols are used in the icloud download column.
Turning off match is not a solution unless you no longer want to use match. First step is to see if problem can be solved.
Yes match can help for a hard drive failure but this does not remove the need to have adequate backups.

Running windows 7 pro; latest version of iTunes; when running "Match," it uploads all of my songs (after a few restarts) but then stalls on the "rest of your music" upload. (Total of about 15,000 songs: 10,000 "iTunes" songs; about 5,000 of "your music.") Starts over from beginning when I restart it after iTunes closes itself out. In other words, this does not appear to work with my system. Any suggestions to get it working?
Thanks!
--JRMy songs are also on an external hard drive. I upgraded iTunes on my computer at work where the program and songs are on the same drive, and that one seems to be working just fine. I think when I get home I'll try installing the iTunes program on the external drive where my songs are and see if that works.

HT201270 Why am I asked to do this each time I open iTunes?
Whenever I connect my iPad or iPhone to iTunes, I am asked to update the settings for the iPad. Why is this, and is it something I can turn off?

Can't help you with an answer, but can at least say that you are probably not alone (at least if you are using an O2 SIM)...

Itunes re-matches (syncs) entire library every time I open iTunes
I get a complete resync everytime which takes hours and slows my entire Mac. Having read a few suggestions I have:
Checked if songs are "waiting" to sync or have an error. All seems fine. All mathed, uploaded or duplicates.
Rebuilt the itunes library. By essentialy reimporting everything as a play list (as instructed in a support article)
It keeps doing it and it makes it unuseable.

I added a proxy "PAC" file web link yesterday to access my University's intranet system within "System Preferences" and once I removed this, iTunes started working again. -
Each time I start iTunes, it configure again the program.
I'm running iTunes v7.6.2.9 with Windows Vista Ultimate 32bits and SP1. I reinstall iTunes, but it change nothing. Each time I start iTunes, the configure window appear.
I also have some problems with QuickTime. When I try to watch a movie, I get this error message: "Error 46: Could not load or find the QuickTime ActiveX control.
Thanks in advance for your help. This seems to be caused by a bug in the Vista installer. Are you using the link on the Quick Launch toolbar? Try using the iTunes link in the main Start Menu and it should work OK. If not try opening the program from the *C:\Program Files\iTunes* folder. I simply replace the Quick Launch link with a freshly made shortut to the iTunes msin program. I then get caught out again after every iTunes upgrade....

Hello,
For years I use in my computer Windows Media Player and/or Media Player Classic to play my music and video files and I know quite well all their operation options. My problem is that since I install the iTunes program, mainly for servicing my iPod Touch, every time I connect my iPod to the PC or open iTunes, the iTunes program without any warning or authorization auto configurate as default media player overriding my Windows and Classic Media players, so each time I have to open iTunes and go to the Advanced Preferences Menu and unselect the option " Use iTunes as the default audio application" so to be able to use my favorite media players.
My question is: ¿What I have to do to avoid or prevent iTunes to auto configurate or autoselect as default media player or override my favorite media players, each time I open it or connect my iPod?
Plese your help,
Regards,
PablHello BPeery,
I would go through ALL the steps here:
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
Let us know how it goes.
Hope this helps.
