ITunes Error 13010 - Deleting Genius.itdb didn't work

So I just updated itunes to 10.5.2 and I have 2 libraries. One isn't working. I keep trying to delete the genius.itdb file and it just keeps reappearing. I reinstalled itunes numerous times, restarted the computer. It hasn't fixed the issue. Can someone help me.

Charles,
is your signature correct? Mac OS X (10.6.8)? If you are running Lion or Mt. Lion, log off and on again, after quitting iTunes, before you remove the  iTunes Library Genius.itdb file. Otherwise you cannot be sure, that iTunes really quits, and it may just recreate the file with the old content when you launch the program again.

  • Error 13010: Deleting Genius file doesn't work

I recently encountered a problem starting up iTunes and was presented with the error 13010. I searched for a fix to the problem and came across a thread with a solution that would supposedly help me. After following a bit of advice that seemed to have helped a lot of people (which is deleting the iTunes Library Genius.itdb file) I found that it did nothing for me, for as soon as i tried to launch iTunes it would immediately recreate that same file and come up with the same error. I guess I'm just looking for an alternative answer.
    Thanks,
    Charles

  • ITunes error 13010, but this 'iTunes Library Genius.itdb' file doesn't exist...?

I had to force quit iTunes and since then it won't open again, showing that godawful 13010 error that so many people seem to get. I searched through the forum and everyone keeps saying to delete the file 'iTunes Library Genius.itdb' but I've looked everywhere and that files DOES NOT EXIST on my macbook. How can I fix my iTunes, what's going on?

Oh boy.  Ok the answer here is not good.  The database that iTunes holds all the song info in is hosed.
First try re-installing iTunes.  This has almost no shot of doing anything, but it is worth a try since the next option is a HUGE pain.
When that does not work go with all the song info is hosed.  So in your <User>/Music/iTunes folder you need to delete the files listed below if they are there.  Then restart iTunes.  You are going to have to re-import all of your content since this is deleting all the index information iTunes has about where the files are at.
    iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    iTunes Library.itl
    iTunes Music Library.xml

Try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

  • ITunes error 13010 - how do I fix?

I was syncing my iPod Touch when my Mac Book Pro shut down from dead battery. I plugged in Mac Book Pro power cord, started it back up, tried to open iTunes, got "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13010)." Any ideas?

    Hello.
I've just got the same problem today after oranizing my external hdd's. I've read the topics on this issue on this site and tried all the fixes.
    I've tried:
    - remove the ...Genius.itdb
    - remove the extras
    - re-installed iTunes
... I have my iTunes content stored on an external drive, - but that have just worked fine until now. So I doubt this should be the problem.
I really hope someone can help me out on this!
    I run a Macbook pro "17 (early spring 2009) on 10.6.8 with iTunes 10.5.2
I have inserted a screen from my music - iTunes folder ...

  • Will 1st gen ipod touch still work with new itunes library on new computer (transfer didn't work from old computer)

Ok, so I have a new computer and wanted to transfer my itunes library from my old computer. I could not get the files to transfer. I downloaded the newest version of itunes and see that I can download my previously purchased music to the new computer. I have mp3's that I can add in on my own so I don't have a problem starting over in itunes.
My question is what happens when I plug in my 1st gen ipod touch and try to sync??? Will it erase what is on my ipod or will I be able to move the stuff from my ipod into my new itunes library?? Any info would be great...I'm happy with how my ipod is set up so I really don't want to mess with a good thing. Also, will I need to update and of my software on my ipod since it's 1st generation??
    Thanks for the help!!

You can only sync to one iTunes library/computer. If you do sync the iPod is erases and its contents replaced with what is in the iTunes library of the second computer.
    To avoid that see:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
Yes, the 1G works with the latest iTunes.
    To transfer iTunes purchases:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
In iTunes 11 use Control+B to show the Menu bar then go to iTunes>File>Devices>Transfer Purchases

  • Premeire Elements 10: Unknown Error 2131042560: Burn to folder didn't work

I'm using Premeire Elements 10. I kept getting Unknown Error 2131042560 at the 99% point in the burn process. I tried burning my project to a folder and was successful. I then copied the folder onto a DVD, which was also successful. However, the resultant DVD won't play in my DVD player.  How do I fix this?

Create an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no DVD player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help
Use Taiyo Yuden single layer or Verbatim Two layer Or Falcon Pro for inkjet printable Two layer

  • TS1717 Started a software update this morning which didn't work.  Now Itunes will not open at all.  I get the following message."The program can't state becasue MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer."

Started a Itunes software update this morning which didn't work.  Now Itunes will not open at all.  I get the following message."The program can't state becasue MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer."

There are a couple of options that I know of to fix the issue.
One is listed in this thread - https://discussions.apple.com/message/24606478#24606478 - and involves uninstalling iTunes and related components and then re-installing iTunes.  You will need to read the instructions in the thread to see the correct uninstall order.
Second option is use System Restore to set your system back to a date prior to the iTunes update.  I did this before finding the thread mentioned above.
Not sure exactly what the problem is but I know, after a search, that MSVCR80.dll was indeed already installed on my computer.

  • ITunes won't load after upgrading to Mavericks. Error 13010. I have tried deleting the Genius library file, still no luck.

I found some feeds where people had deleted the genius library .itdb and were able to fix the problem. It did not fix mine. Still unable to access iTunes!

The option key... I've been holding down the command key... No wonder that didn't work. I should really be writing this stuff down!.
Regardless, Downloading and reinstalling iTunes did the trick.
Thank you mende1 & saffron63 for the assist!

    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    3. Open iTunes.
    4. You will have to re-scan your media.
No! Not the iTunes Library.itl file!! That is what makes your library.  Delete that and when you open iTunes you will get a blank, brand new library which will certainly take care of the issue because you will be starting from scratch (the media files will still be on the computer).  By "re-scan your media" this will mean adding it all again to the library, rebuilding your playlists, starting off with playcounts zero and no ratings.
Caddyfan, I see you have systematically posted in quite a number of topics about this issue.  I hope you post a correction about this in each one, or if you did indeed mean delete the entire library file at least make it clear this will be a consequence of your suggestion.  It is also usually unecessary to post in topics which haven't seen a post in about a year.

    Hello nebimotu,
This error indicates an interruption in communication between the iPad and the computer, specifically the USB connection.
    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • Why do i get error 13010 when i try to sync my ipad with iTunes?

    Hi,
I am getting the error "13010" when ever i try to sync my ipad with iTunes. I looked around for a solution on the net. Someone asked me to delete the "iTunes Library Genius" file from iTunes folder and re-start iTunes. That didn't work for me. Someone also asked to go to Task Manager and terminate the program iTuneshelper. That didn't seem to help either. Kindly give me a solution if any.
    Thanks
