Itunes error -39 rental movie

I rented a movie (have done this a few times with itunes same result, and different machines so I know that it's not just this one) and everytime if I let it get to say 25% completed, or 50%, anything but 100% and try to start watching it (assuming it will finsh downloading in the background it errors out with error -39. I have attempted everything I can think of.
I assume this is some sort of stupid limitation in iTunes? or am I doing something wrong.
I really hate the idea of leting a 4GB movie download so I can watch it once and let it delete after 24 horus.

  • Unknown error (-50) rental movie stopped playing

I downloaded a rental film off iTunes and initially it played fine. Although after around 10 minutes it stopped playing and then would not play at all. A message showed that said 'unknown error (-50) please check you are still connected to the network'. I'm still within the first 48 hours of downloading it.
Can anyone help? Any suggestions would be useful?!

  • HT1420 iTunes Error message "This movie is authorised to play on another computer".

Hi folks. I have bought a new PC and want to play a movie that i had previously rented from iTunes.
After getting an authorisation error, I deauthorised all computers and then authorised the new one.
But the movie won't play. Error message "authorised to play on another computer". Please help.

This is part of the DRM for rented movies and isn't fixable.

  • Rental movie "wish list"?

I have been searching thru these discussions and can't find an answer to this. It is not a huge deal, and I know that wishlist v. shopping cart has been discussed to death. My question is, wouldn't itunes benefit from allowing users to make a list or cue of films to RENT? When I have the time, I enjoy browsing the genres of film, and usually come up with quite a few I would like to see. But unless I write them down (with old fashioned pen and paper?!), there is no way to put them into a list or reminder function. Think Netflicks or other online services, couldn't there be an "I'd like to see" button for me to store all my movie hopefuls?

There is no "Wish List" capability in the iTunes Store for rental movies, only for movies you wish to purchase. You'll need to suggest this to Apple if you would like them to add such a capability in a future version of the iTunes Store.
There is a rather awkward workaround: if you Browse the movies (the Browse link under Quick Links) and find a movie with a "Rent Movie" button, you can drag that movie title into a standard iTunes playlist for future rental. Since this works only from a Browse list, it's not really easy to find the movie you are interested in, but for now it's the only way to have a "wish list" for movies you want to rent.
    Regards.

  • ITunes 10 rental movie error 8008

In iTunes 10, I try to download rental movie Judas Kiss. It stops at 200,1 MB with error 8008. Already deleted a temp file. Any idea?

    Reporting:
I deleted the Downloads folder (within the Music Folder) it did have a very small partially downloaded file for the movie. I opened iTunes and selected Check for Available Downloads – it began the download showing approx. 17-minutes time remaining — then the time remaining in the window quickly reduced to 3 minutes and then stopped. Exactly what has happened every time I have tried. I think the file is corrupted (as one of the message windows suggests is possible). I also tried to download from another of our computers and the same thing happened.
I have spoken with Apple and they have also been in touch via email. I answered all their questions and responded quickly but here in Seattle, WA USA we do have a snow storm today though my broadband connection remains steady and fast — but it is now 7:30 PM so any chance of resolving this issue and settling down to enjoy The Ides of March tonight is probably out. Ironic movie title for a problem download.
I am now downloading Moenyball (Brad Pitt) and so far it IS downloading properly. I decided to take another $3.99 risk to see if it was my computer or connection or Apple's iTunes movie file for the other film. I have my answer!
Thanks for playing… I really do appreciate your help.

  • HT1657 I downloaded a rental movie utilizing my laptop.  When I went to find it via Apple TV, that is associated with my iTunes account, I couldn't see it.  This has happened before and it sort of popped up later.  No such luck this time.  Operator error.

Help Please!!!!  When I download rental movies from iTunes, via my MacBook Pro, I cannot see them to watch them on Apple TV or the MBP.  Is it me or something glitchy that I have no control over?  Thanks for your assistance.

    Hello FeedUpUser,
Thank you for the question.  When you purchase a rental, you can view it on one device at a time:
Can I play my rental on more than one device?
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

  • So, I rented a movie on iTunes and downloaded, and then when I went to click on it, it said iTunes server not available, so I reset my laptop, and it was there but when I clicked on it it said the same error again, the movie disappeared. What do I do?

I need help! I payed for this movie, and I don't know why it said can not connect to iTunes server, because this is not my first time watching a rented iTunes movie, and I usually do not need internet, or the need to connect to iTunes store, and the fact that the movie diappeared upsets me.. and it is nowhere in my iTunes library.  So, what happened, I clicked on the movie, it said cannot connect to iTunes sever, so exited out, and reset my computer, when it reloaded, I clicked on it again, and the same error message appeared, and then the movie disappeared.

    Hi runner_girl7585,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  If you weren't ever able to watch your rental movie, you can report this to the iTunes Store:

  • Rental movie continues to download when iTunes is opened on desktop

    Hi,
I rented a HD movie on iTunes using my desktop PC.  When the movie finished downloading to my desktop I plugged in my iPhone to the desktop and began to transfer the movie to my iPhone (I have done this several times in the past without issue).  However, while transferring the movie to my iPhone the movie again began to download in ITunes on my desktop - I stopped the download and deleted the movie in ITunes.  The movie remained on my iPhone and I was able to watch it without issue.
Now, however, each time I open iTunes on my desktop the rental movie begins to download again.  I've stopped the download and deleted the movie, only to have it begin downloading again as soon as I open iTunes the next time.  I also tried to let it finish downloading and then delete the movie but I got an error message.  It has been over 24 hours since I watched the movie on my iPhone but yet it continues to download the moment I open iTunes on my desktop.
How can I prevent this movie from continuing to download in iTunes?
    Thank you

    This is actually good news.
I'd rather 1st Publish an AIR 2.5 Desktop Application for: (a) Windows, (b) Linux Ubuntu, (c) Mac OS X
Is there a version of WIndows which is required: Vista and Later?
Is there a version of Mac OS X that is requires Leopard?  or Now Leopard?
I work with Ubuntu so I'm assuming this is a good way to test.

Firstly, I should have typed speedtest.net previously.
Now that's an interesting comment you make, out of interest do you have any purchased HD movies in your iTunes collection, if so, do they play on the Apple TV with your new tv.

  • Error code 5103 "Unable to Play" with rental movies! Please help!!

I have a PC with Windows 7. iTunes 10.5.2. I purchased 2 rental movies and have downloaded them a few times now. But when I press "Play" I get the error code 5103 - Unable to Play. This has been going on for 2 weeks.
    Please help!!!!

All it says is to download the lasted vers in iTunes which I already have.
That's not true. It goes on to say:
"If you have the most recent version and are still unable to download your rental, you may be able to resolve your issue by removing the "SC Info" folder. To do so, follow these steps:"
... and then gives links to instructions on how to do so for your particular operating system. So best to proceed with the instructions for your operating system.
